Palettes -Bare Escentuals - Holiday 2009 Jewel Kit
MsLips 11/13/2009 11:30:00 PM
I got this as gratis from our Ulta Bare Minerals holiday 09 training. I was super glad, if I didn't get this as gratis, I would def purchase it. It's a beautiful kit. I am a huge fan of BE and I love their kits so much because of the brushes mainly. This kit is only exclusive to Ulta stores and it is 54.00
It is a 9 piece jewel -infused kit, meaning ea product actually has the real jewels in it!
What you get:
1 Citrine Radiance all over face color (a citrine peachy color with soft shimmer for a glow, I love applying on my cheekbones before apply the blush for that glowing within look)
1 Pink Tourmaline blush (A soft pink blush)
1 Yellow Sapphire eyeshadow (A light golden shimmering shade)
1 Smoky Amber eyeshadow (A rich bronzy-amber shimmery shade)
1 Deep Amethyst shadow liner (A deep plum with dark shimmer flecks, i love it)
1 100% Natural lipgloss in Cranberry Sorbet (A very sheer pinkish cranberry shade, not sticky at all and smells great)
1 Flawless Radiance brush (Perfect for applying radiances and soft blush or bronzer looks)
1 Wet to Dry eyeshadow brush (A firm eyeshadow brush)
1 Soft Focus tapered liner brush (my fave, a very fine pointed eyelining brush)
and the box could be reused for stashing BE product.
I LOVE this kit. It also includes the get lucky ticket, which they trained us it's like the Willy Wonka golden ticket! There's only one winner and whoever wins finds out on Christmas Day (you type in the code on the website) and if you win, you win a lifetime supply of BE foundation!
This is a gorgeous kit to have and it looks good on anyone. It's not a very dramatic look, but you can make it that way with the deep purple, which i still have yet to try. I usually apply the yellow sapphire on my lids, and then amber on the crease and take a sep highlight color like soul or queen phyllis for the brow bones and mix prime time with the deep amethyst to make a liner. I love this look, it's very soft but still playful and perfect for the holidays. The color combo is very different, but it works!
I highly recommend this kit, it is limited edition.
I posted the look that I did if you want to see!
Styling Products -Nick Chavez - Volumizing Extra Hold Spray
MsLips 10/6/2009 1:25:00 PM
I love this hairspray! It gives volume for sure and good hold but doesn't weigh your hair down. I love that teased look so when I want that look, this hairspray will work wonders!! This+my teaze brush by phillips = awesome wild hair! I really do wish the price wasn't so steep..I agree. The bottle is tall, but still it's 25.00. I would rebuy only because I don't use hair products that often, but this, Fekkai sheer hold, Sebastian shaper plus and Oscar Blandi volumizing are my fave hair sprays.
Woohoo! This is a gorgeous palette!
I always have to buy the newest UD products and this is a must!
First of all, this palette is very different looking from the rest. It is covered in artwork by an artist named Kime Buzelli who is popular in LA. It's very cartoonish fashiony looking. I like it.
This comes with 6 VERY pigmented beautiful shades, 2 of them are brand new.
I do not own any of the shades in here individually and that's what I love about UD palettes, it saves money.
The shades and their descriptions:
Snatch - A shimmery salmon pink shade with some glitter, but not too much.
Mildew - Beautiful metallic deep green with golden tones.
Flash - A vibrant purple color with blue and pink undertones.
Painkiller - A bold metallic aqua blue
Smog - A very metallic golden dark bronze
Toasted - A beautiful shimmery taupe brown
ALL of these are metallic, so if you are more into mattes, this palette is not for you.
I would probably still use a separate highlight because all of these shades would be too dark for the brow bone, but i haven't tried Snatch yet..it'd be a great highlight for darker skin.
This also comes with a super cute baby primer potion and the tip of the wand is bent (their new packaging form to get all the primer out)
and of course a zero 24/7!! yay! I always need a new zero..because it is THE best pencil eyeliner ever.
This palette is so wonderful and I highly recommend it. I uploaded some photos/swatches for you to see.
This retails for 30.00 and will be carried at ULTA stores 9/27/09. I work there so I bought mine ahead of time =P Can't wait to create looks with this!!!
I was SO and still am VERY disappointed that my HG cover up has been discontinued (Flirt Pretty Easy Quickstick) I HATE Flirt for doing that because it was a best seller of theirs..idiots.
Anyways, since I was running low on that I immediately thought of other stick foundations that would be comparable. I work at Ulta so I checked out all the stick foundations that we sell and none of them were good for acne prone skin.
I remembered Iman's having raves and great feedback so I was hoping they would have this in my color since this is made for darker skin tones. But I tried it and I'm the second to lightest (Sand 4) in these! I was so happy! I also love the price 13.99! I bought the last two just in case we would discontinue Iman which I have a feeling we are and heard rumors. I have to say I really like this product. I don't use it as an all over foundation, i just cover my acne marks on my cheeks, my forehead whenever it needs some extra coverage, and my nose. It blends like butter, not as silky as Flirt's but this covers more. I'm glad it's not breaking me out either because I was soo worried. It's also bigger than Flirt's. This will be my new cover up stick but I still hope Flirt brings theirs back!
Moisturizers -Dermalogica - Clean Start Welcome Matte SPF15
MsLips 9/6/2009 9:27:00 PM
Love it! 3 of my friends use it and love it so I had to buy it. My esthecian told me this is the cheaper version of the oil control lotion, but this has spf 15 in it which is a must! It's been hard for me to find an oil control product that lasts and so far this is the longest lasting. I can be VERY oily on my t-zone. It keeps me matte for most of the day but over time (a long time) a little shine comes through on my forehead and nose again. I just blot those away with Boscia green tea linens. I am so happy to have this! Dermalogica is my fave skincare line. This is 2 oz! Most moisturizers come in 1-1.7oz. It's in a squeeze tube form which is the smartest way to package something like this so you can actually get ALL the product out. I only use a little bit, about less than a dime size. I like to put more on t-zone to keep it very matte. You can instantly feel it sucking up the oil once you put it on. I love that it has salicylic acid to control blemishes but also spf 15 to protect from the sun and also the salicylic making the acne marks darker (because it's important to use spf 15 or higher on top when you have exfoliating ingredients such as salicylic, glycolic, benzoyl peroxide, retinol, vitamin c, aha/pha's etc or else itll cause hyperpigmentation in areas you are trying to treat) It doesn't have that greasy/nasty smell of sunscreen. It has a nice light citrusy scent, that botanical smell which i love. The price is unbeatable for such a quality product that works - 24.00! We sell all clean start by dermalogica at Ulta. It is also artificial fragrance, dye, and color free just like all other Dermalogica products.
Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Diesel Only the Brave
MsLips 9/3/2009 1:19:00 AM
Diesel did a way better job with this one! This smells very clean and fresh and sporty. It's crisp, unlike Fuel For Life..(EW) You could smell the citrus clean scent but also sort of sweet which I like. The packaging is really cool. A blue bottle of a fist.
This smells disgusting... I love Only the Brave way better. This is one of those headache/nauseous giving fragrances..ugh I even hate the women's one..gross!!! So glad they dced that. This smells like rotten leather with sweet cheese..too woody and strong.
Mascara -Bare Escentuals - Flawless Definition mascara
MsLips 7/22/2009 2:15:00 AM
I got this with my BE purchase at Ulta. I actually bought something from BE just to try this mascara sample..which is a good size! I work at Ulta, but I applied this on a few customers I helped that were purchasing BE and this made their lashes sooo long, dark, and full! I so had to get this! I have to say I love it! I am surprised as well that this is from BE, because I usually don't care for their mascaras, but i also like the Buxom lash mascara. This one has plastic bristles and they are so good for volumizing and lengthening! I love my lashes bold and thick so I apply one coat, do my brows and blush or whatever and apply a 2nd coat. This is easy to remove. Only dud is it's sorta flaky! It's not waterpoof, but it is long wearing.
Treatments -Peter Thomas Roth - Un-Wrinkle Peel Pads
MsLips 7/19/2009 12:56:00 AM
After reading so many good reviews, I decided to buy this! I don't regret buying it because this stuff is amazing! 60 peel pads for 45.00, that's pretty good. This has a whole cocktail of ingredients that will exfoliate, hydrate, and clear the skin. I have combination/acne prone skin and this has helped clear up acne and smooth out my skin very nicely and helps my serums/creams sink in better. Since I don't wanna overdo it because it might backfire on me, I only use this about 2-3 times a wk. I leave it on my face/neck for about 5-7 mins and then wash off and apply my serum/night cream/eye cream/acne treatment.
This is such a great product..I've been using my PTR Viz-1000 after rinsing this off. I'm really into PTR products and willing to try more.
You can find PTR at Ulta.
I fell in love with this palette. First of all, I am a HUGE fan of Too Faced! I love the Smokey Eye kit, and I really love this kit. This one is made for a more natural look, but you can def do a dramatic look with this too. It comes with 6 small square shaped eyeshadows and 3 large rectangle shadows that are lighter shades. Most of the colors are shimmery and some are matte which is great because if I'm wearing lots of shimmer on my lids, my highlight at least should be matte so it doesn't look like too much and i feel that if i use a matte highlight or matte shadows/shimmery highlight, it adds more dimension to the eyes. Anyways this has a pretty matte bone color, a gorgeous shimmery beige/peach, a shimmery beige, bronze, golden bronze, taupe, and 2 dark brown shadows. I love it all and also an applicator, but brushes are better. It's also got the little cards of eye looks in the pocket just like the smokey eye kit, which is super cute. All of this for only 34.00..great quality pigmentation. I'm in love.
I love Neptune! It's a perfect green blue shade! It's a teal form, but has more green when other teals have more blue. I love it. I'm a huge fan of Too Faced cosmetics and always have lots of fun when we have big makeover events at my job (Ulta). But anyways, like all the other TF shadows this has lots of pigmentation. Over the shadow insurance it's more sheer, but over a white base or teal base, it's as vibrant as it looks in the plastic case. It's also fun to mix with the shadow insurance to make a sheer teal cream shadow. Such a pretty color. It's 16.00
This is an absolute must if you are:
A. A Smashbox fan
B. Looking for a great smokey eye kit
C. Love makeup!
I am crazy about this palette! It's the most recent of the Eyelights collection and probably my fave, and since it's newer it has way better pigmentation than the other 3. This palette comes with 3 shades:
An ivory shade for the highlighting areas
Dark black with microglitter flecks
I love smokey eyes and it's not only about using silvers and greys, and I love that this has a more brown theme which I think is more sophisticated looking. The colors are not too shimmery either like the others so this will cater to anyone looking for eyeshadow.
34.00 and found at ULTA.
Makeup Brushes -BeneFit Cosmetics - #09 Angled Brush
MsLips 7/14/2009 2:21:00 AM
This is my all time fave brow brush now! It used to be Smashbox's (I still love it), but this one is very firm and precise. It is made with synthetic bristles. It gives me that perfect brow look! I've read the first reviews and it used to be 11.00, now it's 16 lol. Still not bad, but it's sad how inflation works. Love this brush - found at Ulta in the Benefit brow bar/boutique. I uploaded a pic to show how my brows look with it and also using brow zings in dark and high brow to highlight my brow bone.
I don't know what you people are talking about! This is a great mascara, reminds me of Too Faced Lash Injection. This one gives me very long and thick/volumized lashes. I do agree with a few cons:
Dry and can tend to clump, so you need to carefully apply a 2nd or 3rd coat.
VERY difficult to remove, which scares me because you can lose lashes. Other than that i think this is a good mascara, oh and it sorta smells funny like flowery/funky but it wears off. We sell Cargo now at ULTA, i was going to actually purchase this mascara because i loved it, but was super excited to find out i got it as gratis!
I rarely like drugstore hair products anymore ever since getting a job with Ulta and learning why drugstore brands aren't as good (ex. too much alcohol diluted) I learned from the professional stylists. But Pantene shampoo really makes my hair so sleek and shiny and movable. People are reviewing this badly because they are using it the wrong way..its not for daily use..more like 2-3 times a wk because it removes buildup..this should just be a side shampoo and you should have another shampoo for regular use. It's cheap and the smell i always love the smell..the original smell was better, but this one Ive grown to like as well. My hair feels nice and clean afterward. I love Warren Tricomi's strength line, but i feel like it builds up after daily use, and i have oily hair so i need something like this is my shower.
