Foundations -Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition Foundation
rated 5 of 5
MrsDevall 7/10/2010 1:43:00 AM

This foundation is amazing! I am absolutely floored by what it can do. I've been using this for a little over a week now and every day it just keeps getting better and better. The coverage is perfect. It makes my skin look flawless without looking like I have makeup on. And this lasts. It's made it all day through 100+ degree heat. It's made it through ages long licking sessions from my puppy. The pump is perfect, it dispenses just the right amount every time. This is on the expensive side but it'd definitely worth it. Most of the time, one pump is all you need so this is going to last a long time. For the way it looks on, I'd be willing to pay anything. I'll definitely be buying this again.

Crème -L'Oreal - True Match Roller
rated 3 of 5
MrsDevall 6/9/2010 12:00:00 PM

Overall this is a pretty good foundation. However, the roller applicator kind of sucks. I always get either too much or too little product on the applicator. It goes on funny looking and even when I blend it looks patchy. I've ditched the roller and just use my fingers now. The foundation itself is nice. The color matches well, it goes on beautifully without the stupid roller, and it lasts most of the day on me. When I top it with powder I don't sweat it off. Because of the roller, and the price, I wouldn't buy this again. I would definitely buy the True Match creme again, but I'd go with the regular in the round case. It's the same thing, just without the applicator, and it's a few dollars cheaper.

Liquid -Revlon - PhotoReady Makeup
rated 4 of 5

First off, I should state that I had an allergic reaction to this product so I would not buy it again for that reason. However, I'm not going to use that in my rating or review as everyone's skin is different. Overall, this is a really good foundation. It does a great job of covering and smoothing out any flaws without making it look like you're wearing a mask. It has a medium buildable coverage with a matte finish. I didn't get any dry looking spots and it stayed on all day. I wore this out on the hottest day of the year so far and I didn't sweat it off. That is a huge feat for any of my liquid foundations. It applies well. I've tried it with a brush, a sponge, and my fingers. I've found I like the way it looks the best when I apply it with my fingers, blend with a sponge, and stipple a bit more on over trouble spots. It dries and sets pretty quickly on it's own, but I set it with powder anyway. Force of habit. I like the pump on the bottle. It's a lot easier than trying to pour some out of Revlon's regular glass bottles, hoping you don't pour too much. The price seems high to me, especially for a drug store product but it does the job and it's definitely worth trying it. I find it's cheaper at Target and Wal Mart as opposed to the drug stores themselves. I would definitely recommend trying this foundation when you're in the market for a new one. If I didn't have a reaction to it, I would still be using it now and would definitely buy it again. Unfortunately for me, the hunt is still on for my HG.

Powder -MAC - Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation
rated 3 of 5
MrsDevall 4/29/2010 4:58:00 AM

I really wanted to love this. The coverage is great, and it's natural looking when I use the sponge that's included. I've tried it with different brushes and it's always come out looking super powdery. Maybe there's a trick that I'm missing with that. The color range is awesome, there's a perfect match for everyone. I've noticed though that I've been breaking out horribly about a week after I started using it. I usually get one to two breakouts a month and usually only on the side of my face where the phone sits, but after this I looked like I was 14 again. I haven't used it in a little over a week now and finally my face is clearing up. I wish so much that this wasn't the cause but it's the only thing in my routine to have changed. I assume this happened because it's such a heavy powder and it clogged all my pores. I won't mark it down for my reaction, after all, who knows how other people will be with it. But I did have to mark it down for the insane price and the fact that I could only seem to get it to work with the sponge, because then it just ends up way too heavy. All in all, it was a pretty good powder, though I like Estee Lauder Double Wear powder better in terms of staying power and coverage without feeling too heavy. But, this was worth a try and if I didn't have the reaction I did, I would use it up. I probably wouldn't have bought it again afterwards though.

Liquid -Estee Lauder - Double Wear LIGHT Foundation SPF10
rated 5 of 5
MrsDevall 4/29/2010 4:52:00 AM

I am very pleased with this foundation. It literally lasts all day. I usually have to run out and get a powder foundation when the weather starts getting warm because they don't sweat off as easily, but so far so good with this one. There's a huge range of colors in this, which I definitely need...it's hard to find a good foundation that's as light as I need it to be. The coverage is great. I rarely need to use concealer with this, so that makes me really happy. The formula is a bit thick. I've found that the easiest ways to put it on are either with a brush or a round sponge, depending on how much coverage I need that day. With the brush it does tend to streak a bit, so you need extra blending time. I've found that you don't absolutely need to set this one with powder, as it sets well (and quickly) on it's own, but on hot days I like to add powder for some extra lasting power. The squeeze tube is great. It doesn't end up all over the place like with a lot of other foundations. It looks small but I've been using it consistently for almost two months now and barely made a dent in the amount of product. I'll definitely be buying this again. And now I've found the perfect long-wear foundation for my wedding.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Ed Hardy Love and Luck
rated 4 of 5
MrsDevall 3/31/2010 2:26:00 PM

This perfume reminds me of a slightly lighter, cleaner version of Victoria's Secret "Love Spell" mixed with a hint of Ivory soap. It's different but not displeasing. This one seems hard to completely pin down though, since everyone seems to get a bit of a different scent when they smell it. It's not going to last all day but that's ok, it lasts as long as your average perfume. It's a nice light scent for summer. I'll probably buy it again, but the bottle is huge so the odds of me running out anytime soon are pretty slim.

Fragrances -Estee Lauder - Bronze Goddess Eau Fraîche Skinscent
rated 5 of 5
MrsDevall 3/12/2010 2:08:00 AM

This perfume is exactly what I needed. After nearly four months of being cooped up in the house and months of snow on the ground (three separate blizzards in a week!) I needed some sun, sand, and fun. It may only be March but as soon as I took my first whiff of this it was mid July and I was strutting my stuff down the boardwalk. I think the only possible way to smell more summery would be if you repeatedly slathered yourself in sunscreen, ocean salt, sand, more sunscreen, then jumped in the pool. Other than the amazing scent, it's not too strong that it's overpowering, but strong enough to notice. The best way to put it is, spritz it on and you'll notice you and everyone around you perk up just a bit but nobody can figure out why (except for you, you sly dog). The bottle itself is gorgeous, textured and glittery...adding to the beachy feel. It also lasts a good long while on the skin. I'll definitely be buying this again. And I'll most definitely be sneaking this on in winters to come when it gets too cold.

Top/Base Coats -Unlisted Brand - INM - Out the Door Top Coat
rated 5 of 5
MrsDevall 1/28/2010 2:15:00 PM

This topcoat really surprised me. I bought it because I lost my Poshe during my recent move and needed a cheap, quick dry top coat to use until I found it. I've used this with three manicures so far and they all wore very well. I haven't gotten noticeable tip wear at all with this, without wrapping it around the top of my nails. It barely chips and when it does they're so tiny and right up in the corners that if I didn't want to take the two seconds to fix it I wouldn't have to...I have to look hard to even find any. I'm on day four of my third mani right now and it still looks as new as when it was first done. It dries very shiny, I'll definitely use this with my neons from now on. I've noticed that for the first five minutes or so it feels tacky but I haven't been able to dent or smudge it so it does what it says it does. Overall, this is as good as Poshe but a few dollars less. I'll definitely buy this again. I think it's great.

Top/Base Coats -Poshe - Super-Fast Drying Basecoat
rated 5 of 5
MrsDevall 12/27/2009 2:26:00 PM

I'm really quite impressed by this. I've been on a continuous search for a good, long lasting, quick dry topcoat for a year now and this is most definitely it. I put this on immediately after I've painted my nails and within a few minutes they're rock hard, no matter how thick I put this on. It evens itself on my nails and doesn't pull my polish around like Seche used to do. It also doesn't peel and chip like Seche did. I've noticed the tip wear with this after a day or two is more pronounced than with any other topcoat I've used, but not enough that anyone but myself can notice. I get no shrinkage with this whatsoever, and usually don't get any chips for a few days. Even then, the chips are small and near the corners and very easy to fix. This has definitely become one of my two HG topcoats (along with Sally Hansen 30 second topcoat) and I will definitely be buying it again. It's a bit on the expensive side. I paid $8 at CVS which is double what I paid for Seche at Sally's (without the discount card) but the difference in quality makes it worth it.

Lip Gloss -New York Color - Light Beam Lip Gloss (All Shades)
rated 4 of 5
MrsDevall 12/26/2009 1:25:00 PM

I'm surprised at how great this gloss is. I have to say I was sucked in by the awesome little flashlight built in. I figured if nothing else I have a cute light for my purse. But the gloss itself is wonderful. It's the perfect consistency, thick but not goopy or sticky. It smells amazing and tastes even better. I wish it was a little more pigmented. I got this in Broadway Lights and, while you can tell that I have gloss on, it comes out looking more clear than the jelly red it shows in the bottle. The packaging is perfect as well, it has a mirror on the side and it's got a good amount of gloss in there. The light is in the cap and is so bright that you don't even need to take the cap off to be able to see well. I paid $2 for this at Wal Mart (regular price) and I will definitely buy more the next time I go. I'm in love with this gloss.

Fragrances -Kat Von D - Saint
rated 3 of 5
MrsDevall 12/6/2009 12:23:00 AM

I'm disappointed with the staying power. Within two hours or so of putting this on the smell fades away completely. It's unfortunate considering the price I paid for this. However, I do love the scent. It's sweet but not overpowering. It's amazing when it first goes on and the dry down is even better. I might repurchase this, but I would buy the glass bottle not the purse spray. (read below) NOTE: I tried this from the glass bottle in the store but purchased the purse spray instead because of the price. The purse spray does not last half as long as the glass bottle. Not sure why.

Foundations -Sally Hansen - Natural Beauty inspired by Carmindy Airbrush Spray Makeup
rated 5 of 5
MrsDevall 11/8/2009 11:35:00 AM

I got this on a whim a few days ago and I love it. I usually always have a problem finding foundation for my skin, the lightest shade is usually a smidge too light and the next shade up is a bit too dark, but this in light matches my skin perfectly. I was a little scared when I first sprayed it on my hand..it was full on Oompa Loompa orange but somehow on my face it transforms. It's the perfect medium coverage, but it feels so light it's almost like there's nothing there at all. It also sets really fast and is so ridiculously long wearing that I don't need to use powder on top and it still lasts all day. The only complaint I have about this is the strong flowery type smell. It lasts quite a while once I put it on and can get a bit annoying, but it's not enough to stop me from using it and it does dissipate after a half hour or so. I am definitely going to be buying this for a long time to come. I just hope that Sally Hansen doesn't discontinue this like they do with everything else.

Liquid -Maybelline - SuperStay Makeup - New Version
rated 1 of 5
MrsDevall 10/8/2009 11:29:00 AM

Wore this out yesterday for the first time. Within two hours it oxidized and turned me orange, but only in certain spots. I looked like a splotchy oompa loompa! Good/bad news is that it sure is long wear, I couldn't just wipe it off!!

Misc Beauty Tools -La Cross - Slanted Tweezers
rated 5 of 5
MrsDevall 10/7/2009 2:27:00 AM

I was originally going to buy Tweezerman instead but went into sticker shock and decided to try something cheaper first. I'm so glad that I did. These are by far the best tweezers I have ever used, and they were only $2 at Rite Aid.

Blush -Flirt - Heart Candy Blush
rated 4 of 5
MrsDevall 10/1/2009 6:09:00 AM

I was pleasantly surprised by this blush. It looks to me as it's more of a natural or cool tone but looks wonderful on my warm toned skin. It blends easily and a little bit goes a long way so it should last a long time. Also, I like how it's noticeable but not "in your face". It doesn't last all day on, but long enough to do what it needs to. I'll probably repurchase this when I run out, but I'm still going to hunt for something I like more.
