Liquid -Revlon - PhotoReady Makeup

Disclaimer: First and foremost I have only worn this for a few hours (4 hours) so I cannot comment on skin sensitivity or on how it wears. (UPDATE: Now worn for a week and still very happy, no breakouts, etc My skin looks okay and great w/ this foundation! Great 8+ hours of flawless wear on my dry/normal skin) Me: MAC NC20, Colorstay Buff, MUFE HD 117, (REVLON PR SHELL 03). I typically have dry skin in winter, but I get very bad breakthrough oilies with all foundations (but not this one) after an hour or two. Application: I began by gently washing my face with water and a microfiber towel as it's gentle and still exfoliates very well. I then applied a generous layer of Oil of Olay for Oily/Combo skin. I waited 5 minutes and then applied 2 pumps total of Photo Ready to several spots on my face, using a bit more on my red cheeks and nose. I blended with my fingertips and it felt very light and nice, completely comfortable on my skin. Coverage felt sheer, but maybe I only say that because of how UN-masklike it felt! It looked WONDERFUL though and covered the redness in an exceptional way considering how it still looked like my skin! I still applied a small dot of MUFE Full Cover on one very bad red pimple, but that was it. Perfect (still natural) skin. I did not use a finishing powder, but in my 4 hours of wear this set up very well and stayed with no oilies. I did see the "sparkles", but have no issues with that and it certainly wasn't even close to OTT on me @ 27 y/o. I can't see myself reaching for another foundation for quite awhile! Maybe not the right foundation for all skin types or age ranges, but perfect for me!

Polishes -Sephora - OPI - Absinthe Makes The Heart
rated 5 of 5
Momma2myQTZ 12/4/2009 11:40:00 PM

Love it! Typical OPI quality (pretty decent), applies very smoothly and not streaky. Good coverage at 2 coats, but I opted for 3 coats on my toes as I can get away with 2-3 weeks w/o chips on toes and thought the extra coat worth it. haha The best thing about this though is the amazing color! It is the polish dupe for Clinique Egyptian creme eyeliner, an amazing dark smoke with olive hints and gold shimmer. GORGEOUS!

Polishes -China Glaze - Heaven
rated 5 of 5
Momma2myQTZ 7/2/2009 1:03:00 PM

This has become my go-to color for something pulled together, elegant and neutral. I am NC25 and more neutral than warm, but this peachy semi-sheer pearl is GORGEOUS! I am wearing it now on my fingers w/ ChG Red Pearl on my toe and the combo looks so classic but very fresh at the same time. I see myself going through this bottle faster than any other shade that I own. Love everything about it, takes 3 coats to not show any streaks but dried pretty quickly w/ Poshe and will stay chip free for 3-4 days. So pretty!!

Concealers -Everyday Minerals - Pearl Beige Concealer
rated 5 of 5
Momma2myQTZ 6/30/2009 3:56:00 PM

This is the most fantastic natural looking highlighter and under eye concealer that I have ever used! I am NC20 and EDM Buff Perfect, when applying this incredibly creamy powder to my under eye area w/ fingers the dark circles and discolorations just disappear. Like magic, gone! This is not at all a true shimmer, just as the name implies it is a pearl and will reflect light which is why it is so fantastic for concealing dark spots and highlighting. In tiny amounts this could also help hide a blemish because of the light reflecting qualities, but I wouldn't use this exclusively for that problem. Super versatile, makes my face look so bright and wake (but never glittery, shimmery or OTT) when applied from brow to lashes and blended well under eyes as well. I finish off daily with a sweep down the center of my nose and the result is perfection for me. I love this and would stock up with multiple full sizes if ever discontinued!! As is I have 2 small sample jars (1 for eyeshadow drawer, another for face drawer) and those will last for months and months. LOVE THIS!

Cleansers -Dove - Beauty Bar - Sensitive Skin
rated 5 of 5
Momma2myQTZ 6/11/2009 11:53:00 AM

Awesome. Simply awesome. This doesn't break me out, dry me out or wreak havoc on my sometimes sensitive skin. All of the Dove bars are mild enough that I can use them for my face as well as body w/o issues. I simply wet my face, lather the bar between my hands and apply to face rubbing in small circular motions for about a minute, this even removes most of my eye makeup. I have also used Dove w/ my pretika brush (clarisonic dupe) and had excelelnt results, not harsh at all. There is no residue only fresh, clean skin.

Eye Shadow -Everyday Minerals - Starlit
rated 5 of 5
Momma2myQTZ 6/10/2009 11:53:00 AM

Probably one of my newest EDM faves! Starlit is a shimmery smokey teal blue (hints of steel gray) with a good amount of fine shimmer. I think that this shade is pretty neutral and would work for a lot of skin tones. Staying power is a bit better than most EDM shades w/o primer and color payoff was excellent even used dry, more metallic used wet. Minimal fallout and certainly no chunky UD style glitter fallout. I ordered the sample size and paid $2.50 for 1g of product which is quite a bit for the price, considering the size of my eyeshadow stash I really don't need a full size. Though it is pretty enough that I *would* consider it for this very unique shade.

Top/Base Coats -Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat
rated 2 of 5
Momma2myQTZ 6/2/2009 9:41:00 AM

Peeled right off my nails within hours! CRAP!! I grabbed this @ Sally's on sale to compare to my beloved Poshe, but this stuff is garbage. I get better results w/ no top coat at all versus this stuff. Sure, it stopped chips but only because 1/2 of my polish lifted up and it never had a chance to chip! I have *never* had peeling w/ Poshe and don't see chips for 2-3 days w/o base coat and a lot of wear and tear on my nails. I'm not easy on my hands, but Poshe keeps up[ amazingly well, and this does NOT. Add in the shrinkage issue that i too experienced w/ Seche and I would choose a slow drying top coat like Revlon colorstay (good, but slow) from the $$ store any day over this garbage!

Polishes -Unlisted Brand - Savvy Nail Lacquer in "Lavender Chrome"
rated 5 of 5
Momma2myQTZ 5/15/2009 11:01:00 PM

The most gorgeous shade in my 50ish bottle collection of OPI, China Glaze and Sinful. JUST GORGEOUS. The wear is right up there with the best, as is application, drying time and opacity. Blown away by this color, gorgeous for Spring and Summer. Very noticeable but not in the least tacky and screaming. I use poshe top coat and can get 3 days out of this even with dishes, laundry, cooking, etc. So pretty, I second everything that the previous reviewer has said.

Liquid -Maybelline - Dream Liquid Mousse
rated 4 of 5
Momma2myQTZ 3/26/2009 3:59:00 PM

WOW, even better than MUFE HD for my normal skin! They feel exactly the same to me, and wear exactly the same but the coverage for my red areas is *much* better w/ Dream Liquid as opposed to MUFE HD. On areas w/o redness though they cover identically. The coverage is medium when applied with my fingers, but feels like nothing on my skin and really evens me out while hiding my pores! I am a NC20 in MAC, 117 in MUFE HD and Ecru Beige in Sally Hansen's Carmindy (a tad off) and found LIGHT 1 to be "wearable". I was shocked at how nice this looks on my slightly yellow toned neutral skin as it looked a bit pinky in the bottle. I've had it on for 4 hours w/ no sign of oilies and that is even w/o powder to set it. I find it a bit more matte than Carmindy and maybe slightly less coverage, but even w/ 3-4 pumps (my pump only gives a *tiny*amount) and the great coverage I get no "mask" face. UPDATE: I am now getting breakthrough oil on warm/humid days with this so now I skip moisturizer on those days.

Self Tanners -Lacura - Sunkissed Firming Body Lotion with Q10
rated 5 of 5
Momma2myQTZ 3/25/2009 5:03:00 PM

I have never been a big fan of self tanners, but am even less a fan of tanning booths or baking in the sun. Still though, when I put on my favorite khaki skirt after a long Winter I do not want to match the skirt. Not good. being impressed with other items int he Lacura line I opted to check out the Sunkissed Body Lotion for fair to normal skin as well. I am so glad that I did! The fragrance is identical in scent and strength to the other Lacura products and the bottle is attractive imho also. The color developed within an hour (wasn't exactly timing it though...) and looked really great! I forgot to use lotion on my knees beforehand, so those did develop a bit deeper than my legs themselves, but this is the case with ALL self tanners in my experience. it soaked in pretty quickly and only looked less than perfectly natural on the back of one calf there was a nearly unnoticeable streak where I had obviously not applied evenly. I did each leg ankle to hip in under 15 seconds though, so I can't fault the lotion that. LOL Check it out, great color and felt very nice too, pretty light and nicely moisturizing on my dry legs. Silky smooth results for only $3-4!

Cleansers -Lacura - Hydrating Facial Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
Momma2myQTZ 3/24/2009 10:40:00 AM

From the Aldi website: "An ever-so-gentle, mild formula that nurtures your skin even as it cleanses away daily make-up and impurities. Provitamin B5, vitamin E, aloe vera and caring oils work together to leave your skin naturally balanced, deliciously soft and deeply clean, without a hint of irritation or dryness." This was my first Lacura purchase and I have never been so quickly impressed with a skincare product!! In brutal WI Winters my sensitive skin becomes incredibly dry and I fight to keep it hydrated without going greasy. I am very prone to cystic acne when my skin cannot breathe and so must choose my products very carefully and use a cleanser that removes all makeup without causing havoc for my dry skin. Lacura's Hydrating Cleanser has worked wonders for me though! It comes in a squeeze top bottle with a screw on lid and has a strong floral scent, but it's not offensive to me and fades quickly. I apply a quarter sized amount directly to my skin to remove my facial makeup. Then I rub it all across my face in small circles and with a warm, damp microfiber cloth wipe gently, finishing with a warm water rinse. It doesn't do a great job w/ most mascaras (most ceansers do not in my experience), but I use jojoba oil for that after this cleanser anyways. Paired with the Q10 anti-wrinkle night cream I have seen a 100% improvement in my skin (texture, evenness, no bumps) and can even go without foundation from time to time now! Fantastic bargain at around $3. Fantastic.

Moisturizers -Lacura - Q10 Anti-Wrinkle Night Cream
rated 5 of 5
Momma2myQTZ 3/24/2009 10:28:00 AM

From website: "Night-time's perfect for some deep care and repair, with our rich, creamy blend of coenzyme Q10, retinol, vitamins E and F and provitamin B5. It's easily absorbed, helping slow skin aging, correct lines and wrinkles and protect against aging environmental factors for long-lasting regenerative effects and smooth, supple skin. " I typically pick up my grocery staples at Aldi and was intrigued to see a new skin care line called Lacura a few weeks ago. It had claims of "award winning" and didn't contain cheapie mineral oil which made it even more interesting! I grabbed a bottle of the Hydrating Facial Cleanser first and LOVED it. It seemed to cleanse well and was incredibly moisturizing. On my next trip to Aldi I picked up this Q10 Anti-wrinkle night cream ($5-6) as a preventative measure for my 27 yr old skin. This too was SO moisturizing and my skin has become younger and smoother looking while being LESS oily!! I have had no bad reactions, no itching, stinging, redness, etc. The fragrance is a strong floral (fades quickly), but I can deal for such great results and can't even knock off a lippy considering the DIRT CHEAP pricing! My skin looks wonderful now in the past 3 weeks and I even use a tiny dab of this as a day cream from time to time. This product also has many rave reviews from Australia as it was apparently released there earlier.

Primer/ Corrector -Bare Escentuals - Prime Time
rated 2 of 5
Momma2myQTZ 3/20/2009 10:21:00 AM

Add me to the list of girls who broke out w/ this, and damn it I had gone nearly 2 months w/o a single pimple!! GRRRR This did feel nice going on, and made my foundation look a bit smoother, but the next day with pimples ALREADY emerging and now 2 weeks later with them still healing was certainly not worth it. I also break out when using any product with mineral oil or Revlon's Colorstay foundations.

Lip Gloss -NYX - Smokey Look
rated 5 of 5
Momma2myQTZ 3/19/2009 12:25:00 PM

Such a pretty peachy nude! Very neutral and certainly won't give anyone that dead look. Some shine, but I didn't really notice any shimmer and it's certainly not frosty at all either, pretty much the perfect nude to make you look fresh and alive while still natural. So beautiful with any dramatic eye be it warm or cool toned as it is a true neutral and not really warm or cool by itself. I love this for Spring, especially with NYX mosaic blush in Peachy, together they are gorgeous! I had been using Beige as my go to neutral, but this has easily beaten out that shade!!
