Palettes -Shiseido - Luminizing Satin Eye Color Trio Pk403 Boudoir
rated 3 of 5
MissNRI 5/21/2012 7:59:00 PM

I really like Shiseido's shadow quality and this trio does not disappoint. Boudoir is a pretty palette of pink shades, all fairly matte and slightly cool toned. I think all of the shades are very lovely, but perhaps not so suited to my skin tone. I found the lightest shade to look too ashy on my NC42-43, strongly yellow/tawny skintone. Also, the middle shade ran a bit too cool and ashy. I found the darkest shade looked very nice. However, these shadows do have wonderful pigmentation, application, blendability and staying power. I'll probably just need to look for a warmer toned trio next time.

Lipstick -Unlisted Brand - Lotus Herbals - Pure Colors Lipstick

I purchased this lipstick in the Nutty Brown shade, which is a lovely warm coppery brown with plenty of shimmer. In other words...exactly what I like :) Its formula is quite nice with very rich opaque pigmentation, good staying power and easy smooth application. However I did find it to be slightly drying after extended wear periods...maybe because I am used to L'Oreal Colour Riche and Lakme Lip Love which are both very moisturising lipsticks! Overall it is very nice, especially for the low price.

Moisturizers -L'Oreal - Hydrafresh Anti-Shine Icy Gel
rated 5 of 5
MissNRI 5/20/2012 7:53:00 PM

Just a perfect product for summertime! I find that my skin tends to get oilier in summer and I need a lighter weight moisturiser than Lancome Renergie Lift Volumetry which is what I normally use. L'Oreal's Icy Gel's claims of mattifying the skin while providing light moisture convinced me to try it. Also, just the name of "icy gel" was very appealing during these summer days when the high temperatures are 40C/104F and humidity never dips below 70%. Immediately when applying this gel, you get a refreshing cool burst feeling and a slight mint scent. It truly is cooling and very lovely to apply! I love the texture, it's a nice light gel as you would expect from the name. It also did seem to reduce shine on my face very well, and didn't melt my makeup or cause it to run. My skin felt smooth and hydrated by the end of the day. Probably will be my new regular day moisturiser for summer!

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Color Riche in Cinnamon Toast
rated 4 of 5
MissNRI 5/20/2012 7:40:00 PM

I have the Indian version of this shade (released as part of the new "Celebrating India: Colour Riche Indian Shades" collection, advertised by Sonam Kapoor) and I think it is slightly different than the version sold overseas. I found this shade to be more of a true brown, without much red undertone. Although this could also just be the result of my own colouring. Either way the shade is nice, fairly basic and quite flattering. I love the Colour Riche formula, the feel/texture, staying power, and application are just perfect! Overall I like this lipstick and would probably buy it again.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - color riche/sparkling amethyst
rated 4 of 5
MissNRI 5/20/2012 7:28:00 PM

I think this shade would look so beautiful on the right person. It is a very richly pigmented cross between fuschia and plum...a very pretty and unique shade, with a shimmery finish that is simply divine! It truly seems to make one's lips stand out and look fuller and lusher. I think the Colour Riche formula is absolutely perfect as drugstore lipsticks go (even as all lipsticks go, for that matter.) It is long wearing, smooth, even and moisturising and always true to colour. I found this shade to be a bit bold for my personal taste, I am probably saving this for night time. But it really is lovely, and an excellent formula.

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - Couleur Infallible - All Night Blue
rated 5 of 5
MissNRI 5/20/2012 7:23:00 PM

Another recent L'Oreal purchase that I simply love! I found this shadow to be very nicely pigmented, with a lovely texture that applied and blended smoothly and had a very good staying power (over MAC Prep + Prime primer.) It is a deep navy shade with a bit of shimmer. However the overall effect is more of a sheen look than a shimmery one. It looks just beautiful on my eye colour and skin tone. I like the look of the packaging too, quite modern and stylish looking. Will definitely try out some of the other shades!

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Super Liner Luminizer
rated 5 of 5
MissNRI 5/20/2012 7:19:00 PM

I love this new L'Oreal eyeliner. I purchased the plum shade which was labelled as being for hazel eyes. I don't have hazel eyes but I love plum liner on my dark brown eyes, and this was a beautiful plum shade with a gorgeous sheen finish. It applied very smoothly and easily without running, and has a wonderful staying power. It truly did seem to illuminate my eyes in such a beautiful way. I might just purchase the other shades now!

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Color Riche Nutri Shine
rated 5 of 5
MissNRI 5/19/2012 11:10:00 PM

I think these lipsticks are absolutely wonderful! I purchased the shade Golden Vanilla which is a beautiful light-medium brown with a touch of shimmer and a nice warm undertone. First of all, this formula feels very wonderful on one's lips. It definitely holds to its claim of being moisturising. Also the pigmentation seems to be very good and the finish is a lovely glossy look, with some shimmer. I love this kind of finish so much, but I don't like the texture of liquid gloss so this is a welcome alternative. Staying power is good, the application is very smooth and even and the range of shades is very impressive, even here in India where our selections are usually slightly limited. Overall-I simply love them! Definitely plan on getting another tube (or a few more!)

Eye Primer -MAC - Prep + Prime Eye
rated 4 of 5
MissNRI 5/17/2012 8:30:00 PM

I recently bought this primer in hopes of having my eye makeup last in the summer...the combination of sweat, oil and humidity generally results in very runny and/or faded shadow :/ so I gave this primer a try and am quite happy with it. It smooths out creases in one's eyelid and works decently well to control oil on lids. I felt like my eye makeup applied more smoothly and lasted a bit longer...the results weren't dramatic, but they were effective. Prep + Prime has a nice formula, it doesn't pill or flake like drier formulas do, and I love that there are shade options so you can actually get somewhat close to your eyelid colour! I find many primers with only one shade run far too pink and light for my skin tone but I didn't have this problem with MAC's. Overall, quite nice.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Colour Riche in Spiced Cedar
rated 5 of 5
MissNRI 5/5/2012 3:23:00 PM

Spiced Cedar is from L'Oreal's new collection of "Indian Shades" that were supposedly made just for us...not sure if they were all "specially" made, as many of the shades are in the lipstick ranges overseas as well, but either way, I love them. I got Make Me Blush and this one, Spiced Cedar, and I love the formula, packaging and shades. Spiced Cedar is a gorgeous warm light brown with a touch of shimmer that is absolutely perfect for an everyday lip with some colour, definition and a nice finish, but not overly heavy or dark. I have been loving light brown lipsticks with touches of shimmer lately and this is one of my new favourites.

Mascara -Unlisted Brand - Lotus Herbals - Volumizing Botanical Mascara
rated 1 of 5
MissNRI 4/30/2012 8:07:00 PM

I have been on such a winning streak with Lotus Herbals lately (black clay masque, hair oil, shampoo, lipstick) and seeing as how I have made it my mission to try and test out as many mascaras as possible now that my Revlon Doubletwist is being d/c'ed, I thought Lotus Herbals' mascara was worth a try. As is typical for the brand it was very affordable at Rs 245 and I like the red and silver tube. However that is about all I liked. It was one of the most watery mascaras I have ever tried. Now, maybe I just have some exaggerated preference because I do seem to think that most mascaras are watery. But this one really was one of the worst, it has a very runny texture which undoubtedly means (for me anyway) stuck together lashes, too long of a drying time, smudges and streaks, and transferring to my upper lids. It reminds me of Great Lash and that is not a good thing! I will likely be returning this one.

Mascara -MAC - Opulash
rated 2 of 5
MissNRI 4/29/2012 8:29:00 PM

Continuing the mascara search! I tried MAC Opulash in the hopes of finding a good volumising mascara with a larger brush, as that has been what has worked for me in the past with my now-being-DC'ed favourite Revlon Doubletwist. And unfortunately I did not find this mascara to be good! I think the formula is much too sticky, it made my eyelashes look all tangled up...not exactly clumpy but just sticking around in every which direction. Not an attractive look! Also I found it to be a bit runny. I will probably be returning this one, sadly.

BB Cream -Maybelline - Clearglow BB Cream
rated 3 of 5
MissNRI 4/29/2012 8:20:00 PM

I have been hearing so much about BB creams and how nice they are so I decided to give this Maybelline one a try! First off I am pretty sure that Maybelline has only released this BB cream here in India for whatever reason. Anyway, one really nice thing is the price- I was prepared to pay quite a bit, but this cream only cost 200 INR (about $3 US!) So that was lovely (although the tube is rather small.) As for the actual product itself- I am having rather mixed feelings and results. I love the texture, it is smooth and blends easily and feels very lovely on the skin. It definitely lives up to its claim that it moisturises and softens one's skin! As for the look of it, I am rather disappointed with the shade selection. I got Nude which was the darkest shade and it was a bit light for my NC42 skin. Its texture/finish is nice and brightens skin nicely but (as I expected) there is very very little coverage. I wore it underneath foundation, as a sort of corrector/highlighter, instead of as foundation itself because I prefer heavier coverage. It is a little runny in hot humid climates, the staying power could definitely be improved. Overall, since it is not really my type of face makeup I would probably not buy this again. But it does have its place, and for a woman who only wants a bit of a glow and doesn't need much coverage or staying power it would be very nice.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Colossal
rated 2 of 5
MissNRI 4/20/2012 8:59:00 PM

Another mascara that so many people liked but just didn't work for me...I found this one to be too watery and took much too long to dry. I like the design of the brush, but the formula is too wet I think. It also could have better staying power as it turned runny for me. It does have a nice rich colour pigment but that is about it.

Liquid -Estee Lauder - Double Wear (old formula)
rated 5 of 5
MissNRI 4/20/2012 8:55:00 PM

I like this foundation a lot. It has wonderful coverage, a perfect smooth finish that's neither too shimmery or too cakey, perfect shade matches for me, easy to apply and blend, and good staying power. It doesn't transfer like Colorstay or turn runny like some foundations. It's very, very nice and I would say that if you could I would pay a bit extra and buy this instead of Colorstay if you want a good long wearing foundation. However, I find that Lakme Nine to Five is just as good or better than DW for me so I'll be continuing to use Lakme's. But ELDW is probably my second favourite now :)
