orb is one of my everyday looks eyeshadow, so i end up using it most of the week for work. i find that on my nc42 skin it lightens up my eye but manages to still look natural, unlike other shadows that tend to look too white. paired with cork, expresso, and a touch of brun/carbon always does the trick. However i didnt give it 5 lippies b/c i picked up an e/s at victorias secret on a whim a bit ago and my god it gives it a run for its money! its acually just enough smoother so that it applies easier than my orb. orb is a great color but the vs e/s makes me want to explore my options now. however i did hit pan faster than any other e/s ive owned with this one. ***if anyone knows what those victorias secret eyeshadows are called that would me GREAT! its the one that come in a cardboard case that opens and closes magnetically. they have different pictures of supermodels on the outside.
Lipstick -New York Color - Ultra Last Lipstick in Mousse
Mimi3030 3/6/2009 1:54:00 PM
so i bought this lipstick to use as a base color on my lips since i natually have a darker tint to my lips and it works great! for the 2 bucks it cost me it def gets the job done. the only thing that i can complain about is the fact that the cap at times pops off in my makeup bag. luckily its never caused any damage but u have to be careful with this one. its a great nude pinky color & a great base for me, will buy again. if u pick this up def apply a tad bitof lip balm b4.
Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24-7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero
Mimi3030 3/6/2009 1:36:00 PM
well i tried ud 24-7 because the mua @ sephora told me she felt it was better than stila's which i had originally gone in to buy. id admit that its a very good eyeliner on the upper lid but not too great for the lower. like other muaers i find that it does in fact run a bit. overall i do like it but before i buy it again ima give stila a try.
Misc Beauty Tools -Sephora - Heated eyelash curler
Mimi3030 3/5/2009 1:24:00 PM
this was not the product for me. my eyelashes are increadily straight and long, if i apply mascara prior to curling they actually begin to come down even more and make me feel sleepy. eyelash curlers are a must for me to say the least. i tried this out as a recommendation from the sephora salesperson but i was sadly disappointed. i tried applying it after mascara but it was the most frustrating thing on earth!! not much curl all this effort. im stickin with my metal eyelash curler with a blast of heat from hairdryer routine, it always works for me. i will not try this product again.
YES this product is infuriating!!! it was a horrible recommendation on behalf of the mac mua. color is nowhere to be seen and the oversized glitter specks are just horrible!! i cant walk out of the door and expect for anyone to take me serious wearing this, appropriate for me maybe when i was 14. such a waste money.
I HATE this color!!! Ive had if for a while and by far its one of the worst "recommendations" ever from a mac mua. first of all it wasnt anything like what i went in to ask for and it just looks horrible. i dont know why she thought it would be a good idea on my nc43 skin. i look like a clown. this horrible experience keeps me away from the blues from now on, especially if they involve a frost look. oh and to make matters worse she also sold me another horrible color for someone of my skintone which comes up white with some glitter(pink venus). i mean these colors would do if i was 14
Makeup Brushes -MAC - 224 Tapered Blending (Windshield Wiper) Brush
Mimi3030 3/4/2009 5:00:00 PM
ive had this brush for a few months, being that i finally got the nerve to invest in mac brushes and let me tell u its def worth it. it blends eyeshadows just beautifully. however i am curious to see how the smaller versions work in comparison, id like some opionions... overall its a creat brush, it didnt hurt being that i bought it at cco for a discount either.
this is one of my favorites for everyday/work matte look. Im nc 43 and it goes on soft brown with a hint of red, think light chocolate. i usually pair it with orb (or one very similar to), expresso, and carbon as liner. i get lots of compliments for this look. id suggest its somethin worth looking at. its matte for for some of you it can appear to be a bit chalky but blends well. *** for those of you who like this color i highly suggest nars NEW YORK, its a great very similar color, well actually better imo
i absolutely love this brush. i use it everyday for applying my base color all over my lids. its great for when ur in a hurry cuz it quickly applys color all over. very soft and fluffy, def a must have! def repurchase if something happened to mine.
Lip Gloss -MAC - Naked Space lipglass - Neo Sci-Fi
Mimi3030 3/4/2009 1:37:00 PM
ive gone back and forth with this one. i purchased in the summer when im in the middle of a tan (nc44) and this color was too pale for me. so it just sat there with other things i dont use. however i picked it back up after months of winter and this color really looks great, very nude and natural shade. overall i will try and pick up again at cco before summer swings around. its a bit gooey so a little does the trick with this one.
ive had bronze for a couple of years and it has never broken on me. i love this color because its truly bronze. my only complaint is that their is quite a bit of fall out on application. when using bronze i always apply my eyeshadow prior to foundation, this just works better for me.
goldmine is one of my staples, especially in the summer time when my tan is @ its best. i usually pair it with mac's bronze, amber lights, and carbon or black tied for a smoked out look. I get plenty of compliments when i wear this color. very rich/vibrant gold. for ref im nc 42-44.
