Treatments -Alpha Hydrox - Retinol Night ResQ
MbMinx 11/9/2010 10:07:00 AM
This is a wonderful product. I'm almost finished with my first tube and the results speak for themselves. I use this product every other night, alternating with the AlphaHydrox AHA Souffle. My skin texture has improved, my fine lines and even some of the more prominent wrinkles are disappearing. I do not experience any significant irritation with ResQ. Sometimes a little stinging around my eyes, but that's all. Overall, I tolerate it well. It's in an opaque tube with a very small opening so that the active ingredients are kept reasonably protected. I've done some looking around, and the ingredient list for ResQ is very similar to philosophy's Help Me, which sells for three times the price. I will continue to use this product. I get results without going broke - I love it.

Treatments -Alpha Hydrox - AHA Souffle 12 percent Glycolic AHA
MbMinx 11/9/2010 9:51:00 AM
HG!!! I love AlphaHydrox AHA Souffle. My skin tolerates it well with no adverse reactions. It doesn't clog my pores or make me break out. It leaves my skin soft and smooth. My fine lines are fading and even some of my more obvious lines are disappearing. I'm not a huge fan of the tub packaging, but it's a stable product and I'm not losing anything. It's inexpensive and effective. What more could I want?

Lipstick -Clinique - Almost Lipstick - Black Honey
MbMinx 10/11/2010 5:29:00 PM
If you are looking for the perfect MLBB - look no further! This product is awesome. It looks VERY dark in the tube, but applies as a sheer warm berry. It wears well and it wears surprisingly evenly on me. This is my "go-to" product and it works with almost everything. Just remember, it's called "Almost Lipstick" for a reason. It's not highly pigmented. It doesn't last for 8 hours. It's more than a tinted gloss, but less than what we normally think of as "lipstick". I like it that way.

Primer/ Corrector -Rock & Republic - Tinted Primer
MbMinx 9/24/2010 5:06:00 PM
This is a silicone based primer with SPF 20 (courtesy of 7% octinoxate/5% octisalate). It has a thick, almost mousse-like texture which is very different from most other primers I've tried. This primer does not react well to being vigorously rubbed - it would ball up on me at first. After a little practice, I was able to get the hang of "gliding" it over my face and it's been smooth sailing ever since. Yes, smooth. There is a definite tint to this primer, but it really seems to just melt into my skin. It fills in some of my finer lines, evening out both tone and texture. I use MMU foundation, so I do give this a couple of minutes to settle in. When I do that, my foundation goes on very evenly and smoothly and it lasts much longer than it does on plain ol' skin. The container is a little odd, though. It's an opaque metal/plastic pump container. Looks perfectly ordinary. But when it's brand new, it actually needs to be..."uncorked" is the phrase R&R uses. There's a little hole on the bottom that's big enough for a straightened-out paper clip. To get product to start flowing, you need to insert said paper clip and PUSH on the inner bottom of the container WHILE you start pumping. And since this is more of a solid, mousse-like substance, it doesn't want to pump or be pushed...It's not impossible, but it's a little tricky! I kncoked off a couple of "Packaging Quality" lippies for that - and the fact that I can't tell how much I have left. Once the bottle has been "uncorked", it works just fine. One pump, maybe two - that's all I need on my way to smooth, even skin. It might break some people out because of the silicones, but it doesn't cause me any issues at all. I got this at one of the R&R 50% off sales in a "2 for 1" LE set with their Tinted Illuminizer (in Ava & Eve shades). Why not? Well, I really liked it. I liked it enough to buy more when I found another BOGO sale. Do I like it enough to pay full price ($40+)? Well...we'll see.

Lip Treatments -Korres - Lip Butter - Pomegranate
MbMinx 9/16/2010 11:53:00 AM
Nice stuff! I got this in a set with three of the cherry oil lip glosses. I wouldn't have bought it on it's own, but I really like it. I wasn't sure - it looks very bright and it's in a little pot (not too hip on the pot). The texture was a little weird, but it went on like butter. No really - soft and smooth and moisturizing. The color isn't as bright on as it looks in the pot, either. It's a nice flush of color, not glaringly bright. I can see this working it's way into my "casual" arsenal. Would I buy it again? I'll say yes because I like it, but pot glosses aren't really my thing. We'll see.

Lip Gloss -Rock & Republic - Lip Gloss in Mistress
MbMinx 9/1/2010 5:17:00 PM
I like this lip gloss. It is a wonderful MLBB with just enough gloss and shine and a hint of shimmer. It's barely sticky with a nice light texture. The downside to that light texture is that it doesn't have a lot of staying power. The packaging looks nice and it functions well enough. It's pretty pricey (to me), though - I got mine at a half-off sale. Like the reviewer below...it's decent lip gloss, but I wouldn't call it $26 lip gloss. I do like it and I would buy it again (just not at full price).

Mascara -Cargo - Better-Than-Waterproof Black
MbMinx 8/30/2010 12:22:00 PM
This was impossible to get off! Never mind what it did or didn't do while it was on - I had to really fight to get it off. I've used "tubing" mascaras before, so I'm familiar with the removal process. It's not usually all that hard. This? Gummy and thick and completely resistant to any amount of warm water & pressure, eye makeup remover...Just a nightmare. I'm very disappointed because I've had very good experiences with everything else I've ever used from CARGO. It certainly was waterproof and it had "good" staying power - but if I can't get it off, I'm not going to put it on again.

Eye Shadow -LORAC - Jade
MbMinx 8/12/2010 11:08:00 AM
What can I say that hasn't already been said? This is a beautiful dark green - just the right balance of smoke and color with just a little gold shimmer to keep it interesting. It's my go-to green liner and a wonderful shade when I want to do something a bit more dramatic. It goes on easily and wears well. If you're looking for a good dark green shadow, this could be the one!

Eye Shadow -Meow Cosmetics - Eyeshadow
MbMinx 8/10/2010 4:49:00 PM
I love these eyeshadows. I will start by letting you know that I do use eye primer (Trish McEvoy or LORAC). I like to use these shadows wet as well. I like big color payoff - and I get it! These shadows are quite pigmented and they can be very complex. They remind me of Fyrinnae in a lot of ways, but I think they blend a bit better. There are several formulas - I like the "IdealEyes Purrrls" best. They shimmer and glow and reflect light without being shiny. The matte colors can seem a little dull (in comparison to the Purrrls) but they wear well and they blend well. There are other finishes available if you want something sparkly or more metallic. In addition to the regular shadow menus, there are limited edition and special collections with even more interesting colors. I have dozens (literally) of sample baggies and several full-size jars and I think I'm stocked up into next year!

Shampoo -Organix - Coconut Milk Shampoo
MbMinx 8/6/2010 4:31:00 PM
And all this time, I thought it was my hair! After reading some of these reviews, I may have been mistaken... My hair is fine, but thick - I have a lot of really fine hair. I wanted to try this because it was more "natural" than some of the other DS brands. The smell was great and it lathered well but it took forever to rinse out of my hair. I wound up with knots in my hair and all sorts of loose hair clogging the drain. It didn't do anything for the texture - it didn't completely trash it, but it didn't improve it. Eventually I moved on to something else, and I don't "shed" in the shower anymore. Hmm...

Eye Shadow -Stila - It Girl Warm Trio 2007
MbMinx 8/6/2010 10:10:00 AM
Ten dollars is a good price for what you get. Unfortunately, I didn't get everything I think I could have. These are great highlighter colors. Very good highlighter colors! But I was expecting a palette that could create a "look". I could tell that these colors were light. I didn't think they would turn out as light on me as they did. As I said - great for highlighting. The package is nicely sized and these are full sized shadows (I think), but there's no applicator. Not even a cheesy foam tipped one. Not even an empty space to put one of my own. The colors are nice enough for what they are and I do have my own brushes so I will use it. I just think this is an OK set. If you're looking for light shadows, it's worth the ten bucks.

Moisturizers -Cerave - Facial Moisturizing Lotion - PM
MbMinx 8/4/2010 4:51:00 PM
This is a wonderful basic moisturizer. It's not in a fancy package and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg, but it's got good ingredients in a very wearable formula. The texture is light - a little more like a gel than a creamy lotion. It absorbs quickly and does not leave any greasy residue. It does have some comedogenics, so it may not be the best choice if you are particularly prone to breakouts. It's not causing me any problems at all. My aging, combination skin is soft and clear.

Foundations -Meow Cosmetics - Purrrfect Puss mineral foundation
MbMinx 8/4/2010 4:41:00 PM
I have found my foundation! I am a little hard to match because I don't fall into the "normal" Cool/warm/neutral breakdown. If you're skin defies definition, Meow is the one for you! They have nearly a DOZEN color bases, and six or seven shades for each one. I am a "Frisky Chartreaux". The foundation has...four?...ingredients. Coverage is a bit sheer, but it builds nicely and blends well. The price is very reasonable (IMO) and you get quite a bit.

I like it! This is my new summer day moisturizer. It is very light and absorbs quickly. My skin feels moisturized, but not greasy. A lotion that does what it says it will do!

Lipstick -Korres - Mango Butter Lipstick in Natural Purple 25
MbMinx 7/13/2010 11:20:00 AM
I got a killer deal on the "Delight Your Lips" lipstick set - great stuff. This really is a NATURAL purple. It looked as if it might be too bright, but it's perfect. More of a plum-berry than purple. It's sheer and creamy and moisturizing and a delight to wear. It doesn't have much staying power (more like a tinted balm than a regular lipstick) but it's so light I don't mind reapplying. I did knock off a lippie for that. The case is nice - heavy and solid with a lid that clicks on so it doesn't accidentally pop off. It's pretty expensive (IMO) but if you can find a deal, get it!
