I got this for Christmas and I do like it very much. I was unsure if I would like anything other than the bottle but it is a really great fragrance! It last a decent amount of time on myself, about 4 hours and then I want another spray. It is very ladylike and not too sweet for us older ladies to enjoy. I love the purple bottle! Now I want Meow. I will buy this one again especially if I can score a large bottle for a good price. Update; I think this fragrance has grown on me! It smells so fresh and more wonderful every time I use it. It is listed as having top notes of peach, forbidden apple, gardenia and green bamboo with the heart of jasmine, pink freesia and Bulgarian rose and the base of vanilla orchid, creamy sandalwood, white amber, coconut and musk. I do not notice any coconut, or much apple & peach. Mostly I detect the gardenia, jasmine, pink freesia, and vanilla orchid. I think the combination of all these scents is what makes it smell so unique to my senses. Can't wait to try Meow now.
Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - UPSIDE DOWN by Swiss Odeon
Magixz 11/26/2012 6:47:00 PM
I have had this fragrance forever & actually forgot I had bought such a huge bottle! My husband found it still in the bag stuffed under some clothes. I am so glad he found it for me. I do love the Odeon scents and this one is very refreshing. I tried to find the notes listed but could only find a few, fruity strawberry with Base Note: Amber, Cedarwood, Rosewood. I am sure there is vanilla in here and some other berry notes. It is a lovely aroma that I could smell all day and night. If you are lucky enough to still find a bottle, buy it for yourself. My only negative I can find about it is the bottle is unattractive to me. It is a big bulky thing, kind of a square encased in an orangie/red trim. Not appealing to me but the smell is divine so I let it's ugly case slide. Probably why I left it in a bag rather than sit it on my dresser. ;-) I put no to buying it again as this bottle is so huge, it will last forever! Update: I took away one star because of the dry down. Sometimes it just does not hit me the right way. Also it is not a fragrance I can just grab and go with. I really have to be in the mood to wear this one. It smells nice but there is just something about it, can't quite put my finger on it.
Palettes -Unlisted Brand - Profusion Color Canvas Batch # 50163
Magixz 11/22/2012 10:20:00 PM
This little palette is so cute! Not all of the Profusion eye shadows are of good quality but these are awesome! There are 10 colors in this palette. 3 are very large & I love all 3 shades. One is a lovely pinkish lilac, another is a darker but not totally dark pink purple, & the other very large color is a beautiful beige type taupe. All 3 are completely usable. The rest of the 7 colors are a darker pinkish lilac, a brownish burgundy, a different purple, darker taupe, a minty green, a darker greenish blue, and a slate blue. All are usable and beautiful. There are so many beautiful looks to be made from this palette. They seem to be a satin texture and no sparkles. I am tickled to have found this little palette and the price was like so little. It is in a round tin compact about the size of the Sephora contour container if you know how large that one is. With a primer they last forever. I have not tried them without a primer so unsure if they last all day but they look as though they would. Got to give these a try for the $!
I am glad to see that some people enjoy this fragrance but for myself, it is just awful! I do not think it goes with my body chemistry at all. The first thing I smell is alcohol and then the faint scent of strawberry. It is an artificial strawberry smell to me though, not pleasant, not real. The bottle would have been kind of cute if it was a deeper pink shade & if it had a lid of some sort! My bottle come with the cute little charm which is about the only thing I found interesting about this perfume. I have been an Avon Rep for very many years now and I can say for sure, their perfumes do not have the quality they once had. Back when Topaz, Bird of Paradise, Persian Wood, Moonwind, Charisma, & numerous others were developed, these perfumes had lasting ability and smelled expensive. Anymore...I have a hard time naming even one Avon scent that last more than 2 hours! I really do think Avon should get back into the business of designing long lasting, great smelling perfumes rather than spend so much time & money on things like clothes & imitation jewelry. Ever since Avon's classic perfumes were discontinued, I found sales went down fast in the fragrances. What good is it to make a sale on some new scent if the ladies want their money back! I do not blame them either. One would think Avon would catch on quick after losing so many profits from weak, unattractive scents...
Lipstick -Avon - Ultra Color Rich Lipstick Limited Edition Fuchsia Fame
Magixz 9/4/2012 2:59:00 PM
I love this lipstick! The color is an amazing deep pink with hints of purple, blue, and flecks of fuchsia sparkle. It is so pretty. There are 7 limited color choices and I want 3 of them plus a backup of this one. I never say these things lightly either! There is a light perfume fragrance to this lipstick but it is not strong, nor offensive. I love this too about it. The tube is a bit heavy to the touch but it is lovely too. It is a red & black shiny case. Perfect for the Holidays fast approaching. Try this one. I think you will like it too.
Pressed Powders -Avon - Ideal Shade Pressed Powder
Magixz 9/4/2012 2:24:00 PM
Don't know why I have not tried this brand before now but it is actually really good. I got this one in light/med. and it is great for Winter but I think I will order a shade darker for the rest of this Summer/Fall months. It is very finely milled & goes on so smooth. I love the feel on my face. It is so light weight. I do not smell much of a scent either. I do like face powder that has a nice smell but since this is so good & inexpensive, I can fore go the nice smell. The coverage is really pretty good too. It is not overly thick so if I have a place that needs a bit extra touch up, it is easy to do. I will buy this one again.
As far as Creme foundations go, this one is pretty good. It goes on evenly and wears for several hours without feeling gritty, but as usual with liquid or creme foundations when it is very warm outside, they all feel gritty on my skin after several hours go by and I just want to wash it off. I think come the Fall season I will be even more pleased with this foundation. I have used high end brands as well and those are actually no better this L'Oreal. So far now, I am pretty pleased with this one. The color range is great too, and I love the container with the sponge applicator in a different chamber. Makes the foundation stay cleaner and the sponge is easy to wash.
I have the one with the tiny metal flapper that allows the powder to come out. I do not care for that feature very much. I am pretty sure this powder burned my skin! It was the only thing different I had used on my skin and the next day it looked as though I had taken a hot iron to my forehead area and around my nose area. Yes I did cleanse my face before going to bed. ;-) Not too sure if I want to try to use this one again to make sure if it is what did the burn because it was bad!
At first spray, I thought not too bad but nothing special. I thought perhaps it would be okay for around the house at least but then after just a short few minutes, I wanted to scrub it off! Thank goodness I only sprayed it on my hand and not all over me! I could still smell it even after washing my hand 3 times with soap and finally twice with salt! I still could smell it!!! I am not sure what is in this perfume but to me it reeks worse than Night Magic. Why oh why would Avon discontinue fragrances like Topaz, Persian Wood & Chrisma but keep such stinky scents such as the two I got??? I read someplace on the Avon site that these were considered old classics?????? By who?!
Being an Avon Rep. I got two older perfumes for very cheap but I do not care for either of them! This review is for Night Magic though so let's do it. I cannot remember smelling this one even on a paper but I bought it due to the notes listed. Big mistake! On me this one does not smell good at all. I gave it a 3 rating because of it's long lasting ability, but I find it very strange that when I do not care for an Avon scent it last forever but when I like it, it disappears in a half of an hour or less! It must be the musk that disagrees with my chemistry, whatever it is, it reeks to me.
For a EDT fragrance this one is a powerful stay with me scent. I really enjoy Elizabeth Arden fragrances and this one is a classic. I never really wanted to add it to my collection but when I passed it in the store, I would spray it on my hand or a paper, come home, and my hubby just loved it every time. Finally I purchased the smaller bottle just to have for him to enjoy and I am glad I did. It smells kind of like a fine soap to me but it is enjoyable. I think I would really like a perfume made of this. Now I want to try the other Red Door fragrances too but I never find those in any of the stores. For myself this one is a keeper and has a place in my fragrance wardrobe now. I would not label it as a Winter scent as some have said, but as an anytime scent when you want to smell clean, classy, and feminine.
Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Onyx Professional Nail Polish remover
Magixz 7/10/2012 2:01:00 PM
I have used this remover for years and I do like it very much! I use the clear version of pure acetone because I love the sparkle polishes and this stuff is great at removing it faster than any of the others I have tried. I always use a base coat, 2 or 3 coats of polish and a good top coat. Sometimes it takes a while to get it off but when I use this remover it comes off faster. I always wash my hands afterwards and then start with a good mineral & vitamin base coat. I can imagine that if you have very thin nails this remover could be harsh for them but my nails are so thick and hard, I have had little or no problems such as some reviewers have mentioned. I find for the money this remover is the better deal. I buy the large bottle and it does last me about 2 or 3 months but I do my nails 2 or 3 times a week if I am in the mood for a different color. The only thing I would change about this remover is the lid on the bottle. I think a flip cap would be better for applying to my cotton balls with less waste from getting too much on the balls sometimes. Other than that, I hope the formula remains the same! Works best, great value!
I have had this one for quite a while now and I do like it lots. The color is a darker purple, almost black in some lighting but it is easier to wear than some very dark purples. The wear time cannot be beat IMO but I feel this way about most of the Avon colors I have, and I have quite a few. I rather have this shape of bottle over the use to be oval shaped one. This square shape is easier to hold onto with my knees. ;-) If you love dark purples with a hint of sparkle, this is the color for you.
This could be better actually. The color could be darker and brighter and the quality of the stick could be stronger. My stick broke the second time I used it! I did not have it out very far either, but not quite a half of an inch broke off down inside the tube! It is just too soft IMO and too much pressure will break the stick even if it is inside the tube. Either that, or the stick was already broke when I got it. Since I love purple liners, I am going to ask for a replacement and see if it is better. This one is so soft it is hard to apply evenly and little pieces keep balling up, I guess that is how to describe it. The color is pretty but needs more zap. Maybe with a light shadow base, the color may be more noticeable as a purple. I also noticed the amount of wear time was not the usual duration of a glimmerstick liner. This could be due to the softness of this stick. It did not last but a few hours and I could barely tell I had it on after that. I always use a base coat so it should have lasted all day. Like I said, I am going to try one more stick of this before I give up on a good purple, but this one was not so impressive.
I have gotten behind on my polish reviews so I decided to post a few a day until I get caught up. This polish is an Avon Pro+ so it does go on extremely well and it wears long time too. I do love that there is shimmer to it and it catches the light great. It is one of those purple shades that look so identical to so many others in the bottle but once applied it has a color all it's own. I really do love purple polishes and this one is no exception. Two coats of this shade and it is a dark violet purple. It reminds me of those purple flowers petunias I think they are, or even the purple African violets. Great color, great wear ability.
