Lipstick -Boots - 17 Shine On - Flirty
Luda_Parker 12/27/2008 11:32:00 AM
I'll hold my hands up and say I am still a bad selector of lipstick, as I'm grossed out by the thought of trying on a tester, but I'm still unable to match up a colour that looks nice on my hand as being one that will suit me. This was another bad colour selection. It looks like a pinky nude in the tube, but it looks v bad on me (NC20) and doesn't suit my colouring at all. The consistency is nice but I just won't wear this colour. And, the packaging is awful. I know it's a cheap drugstore brand, but the grey tube is so damn ugly and old fashioned (and not in a cool retro way) that even if I did love it, I'd have to hide it away!

Toners -Neal's Yard - Lavender Water
Luda_Parker 12/12/2008 7:50:00 AM
This is what Neal's Yard have to say about this product: "A skin toner for problem skin. Organic lavender oil creates this refreshing toner that removes the last traces of cleansers and refines pores to prepare the skin for moisturising. Lavender is restorative to the skin, helping to reduce redness or blemishes." I find this is a product I really couldn't be without. When I'm feeling lazy (which is a lot of the time) and I can't be bothered to go through my whole Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish routine, I just use a cotton wool pad soaked in this to remove all my make up. I find it so gentle on my skin - it really doesn't dry it out at all, and it doesn't irritate or cause breakouts at all. I also like that it feels really natural - their website has a lot of information about where they get all the ingredients, so you know you're not just piling the chemicals onto your face.

Lipstick -Yves Rocher - Luminelle Fuchsia Scintillant
Luda_Parker 12/12/2008 7:42:00 AM
I think my ma got this lipstick as a freebie with an order from Yves Rocher and passed it on to me and I have to say I kind of like it. The colour is a very pretty raspberry-ish shade which is creamy and shiny with some glitter in. I just wish the glitter wasn't there as it'd be prettier without and it feels a bit gritty on your lips. The packaging, though isn't especially glamourous or expensive looking is quite good and I like the fact it as a clear top so you can see the colour of the lipstick.

Highlighters -Collection 2000 - Shimmer & Shade
Luda_Parker 12/10/2008 6:29:00 AM
I have the "Pink Me Up" version of this which is a peachy pink colour with highlights in plum. It's pretty to look at and the compact is nice and sturdy. The overall effect when you sweep a brush over it all is a peachy pink with a bit of a sheen, which is extremely pretty swept over cheekbones. I find you have to give it quite a few firm sweeps of the brush to actually pick up much colour at all. For the price - £3.99 - I think this is a great little addition to your makeup collection.

Blush -L'Oreal - True Match Superblendable Blush in Bare Honey
Luda_Parker 11/28/2008 12:05:00 PM
Well, I'm a relative newcomer to blush, having really hardly used it before because I thought it didn't *work* on me. I find that most pinkish toned blushers ones often just make my face look ruddy, like I've been out in the wind too long...and not in a good way! However for some reason this crazy apricot/peach colour blush works beautifully on my skin tone and is really really flattering. I love it! Also, I really like the case - it closes with a nice click and doesn't feel too cheap and nasty. The brush that comes with it isn't amazing, but will do if you're desperate and there's a little mirror in the bottom which is helpful.

Lipstick -Stila - Ariel - High Shine
Luda_Parker 11/27/2008 4:54:00 AM
Love consistency and smell and it feels really nice on your lips. However, I find it looks a bit frosty and shimmery in a way that doesn't suit me unfortunately. So basically a thumbs up - I just picked the wrong shade!

Lipstick -Clinique - Long Last Soft Shine - Creamy Nude
Luda_Parker 11/19/2008 9:34:00 AM
Pretty dark reddish brown, so not what I'd call nude. For some reason this colour looks dreadful with my skin tone (NC20). Shame, as it's got a nice consistency.

Top/Base Coats -Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat
Luda_Parker 11/5/2008 7:03:00 AM
Yes it makes your polish dry fast and shiny but there's a major flaw with this product - it makes your varnish PEEL OFF in one thick layer!!! Nightmare, so I find this utterly pointless.

Styling Products -Alberto Vo5 - Volume & Lift Volumising Spritz
Luda_Parker 10/22/2008 12:54:00 PM
Having tried countless other brands - both expensive and drugstore, this is my absolute HG volumizing product! Just a few spritzes before blow-drying and I'm left with wonderfully bouncy hair that even looks good the following day. It doesn't weigh down my hair, or leave it crunchy and most importantly, it actually WORKS and does what it says it will. Give it a try!

Blush -MAC - Strada
Luda_Parker 10/14/2008 3:16:00 PM
It my be just my computer, but I have to say the photo at the top of this page doesn't reflect the colour very well as it looks lilac to me. The blush is actually a dusky rose/light beige type colour. It's not a colour I'd have picked out for contouring if I hadn't had it recommended to me. And sure enough, it is the perfect colour for my NC20 skin and if applied gently and gradually, cheekbones magically appear! Wonderful, I am IN LOVE with this colour!

Tools -Revlon - Cushion-Grip Lash Curler
Luda_Parker 10/9/2008 3:12:00 PM
I'd gotten really lazy about curling my lashes and since I moved overseas and forgot to pack mine, I haven't been bothering at all. Anyway, I decided it was time I started making an effort again. I ummed an aahed over shelling out for the Shu or Shiseido ones but that just seems like SO much to spend so thought this one was worth a go. And.....it's great. What a difference just curling your lashes makes, I'd forgotten. Well worth spending $5.99 as it does an excellent job.

Moisturizers -Neutrogena - Healthy Defense Daily Moisturizer SPF 30
Luda_Parker 10/8/2008 11:23:00 AM
I wanted a moisturizer for this summer with a high SPF as I don't like slapping sunscreen on my face every day and I was very pleasantly surprised by this. Consistency-wise this feels very like sunscreen - it's quite greasy and it doesn't feel like it sinks in that well. However, despite my fears, it didn't break me out despite a whole summer's use, and it also kept my from getting burnt, so though I wouldn't want to use this all year round (I'll find a gentler one for the rest of the year) I will happily use it each summer.

Treatments -Liz Earle - liz earle spot on
Luda_Parker 10/8/2008 10:04:00 AM
Don't find this works at all (but then, I've yet to find a zit zapper that does do much) I love everything else Liz Earle makes, and I think this is the only thumbs down one I've found so far.

Shampoo -Unlisted Brand - Real Solutions - Volume Remedy Shampoo
Luda_Parker 10/5/2008 12:13:00 PM
I really wanted to like this shampoo, as it's sulfate-free and made using certified organic extracts. It also smells deliciously of pink grapefruit. However, it just doesn't add volume to my hair at all I'm afraid. If anything, it feels like it weighs it down a little. Shame :-(

Styling Products -SAMY - Fat Hair 0 Calories Thickening Spray
Luda_Parker 10/2/2008 10:51:00 AM
I'm not impressed with this at all. The rest of this range seems to have pretty good reviews but I thought since thickening spray is my preferred method of applying products I'd try this one. The bottle is annoying as it has a trigger pump thing which is actually tricky to use. The product just doesn't thicken my hair or boost volume at all. In fact it weighs it down and makes it look lank. Only thing I can say in its favour, is that it smells nice! I'll be going back to my favourite VO5 products as soon as I can find another bottle of it.
