Hair -Sacha Cosmetics - Sally - Hair One Hair Cleanser and Conditioner
rated 4 of 5
LittleBear23 7/15/2011 5:08:00 PM

I've been conditioner-only "washing" my hair with cheap Suave Naturals conditioner for a while now and I decided to go ahead and splurge and try the proper conditioning cleanser products. I ordered 2 bottles of Wen from QVC, which a week later still have not arrived, and I bought a bottle of Hair One (jojoba, for colored hair) at Sally. The first time I tried Hair One (a week ago) I used it exactly as I had been using the Suave for c/o. I rinsed my hair for 90 seconds while massaging my scalp. Put a TON (more than recommended) of the product on my scalp and through my ends and massaged my scalp for almost 3 minutes. I pulled a wide-toothed comb through my hair, clipped it up and left it to sit for 3-5 minutes. Then I put some water in to lather up (it will lather if you add water) and suds it up for a minute. Then I rinsed for 4 minutes, wrapped my hair in a thirsty towel and around 15 minutes later put in my usual leave-in conditioner (Terax Life Drops) and air dried my hair. When my hair was dry I thought it was puffier than it usually is and my ends felt drier than usual. This time I followed the directions on the bottle exactly. The difference was that I used less product (the number of recommended pumps), my final rinse was only 2 minutes (vs. 4 minutes) and I used one pump of Hair One on very wet hair as a leave in (vs. about a 1/2 dollar amount of Life Drops on damp hair). Well, it turns out that there is a reason why the directions are what they are. My hair looks AMAZING and feels amazing too. It hasn't looked or felt this good in at least a year. It hangs like a heavy silk curtain. Sorry, this review is so long. I wanted to explain to you what a difference a couple of tiny things makes. I truly thought this stuff was over-hyped crap when I first used it but after doing only 3 things slightly differently I now LOVE this stuff. I only wish it was cone-free. If you try this you should follow the directions exactly or you won't really know if it's going to work for you or not. Edit: Now I've tried Wen lavender and Wen pomegranate and it turns out that I like Hair One better. The lavender left my fair feeling a bit thick/oily. The pomegranate is fine but not as moisturizing as the Hair One. Good news for my wallet.

Lips -Korres - Raspberry Antioxidant Liquid Lipstick (ALL)
rated 4 of 5
LittleBear23 6/27/2011 6:16:00 PM

I received a 3 pack of these "liquid lipsticks" as a gift and I LOVE them!!! I have been looking for a very pigmented gloss or very moisturizing lipstick and now the search is over. These are similar to the texture of Lancome's juicy tubes. They are highly pigmented and very moisturizing. The red color is a gorgeous, glam, retro, true red. They don't last very long on your lips but they taste and feel good; so, it's no problem to keep reapplying.

Shampoo -Kiehls - Superbly Smoothing Argan Shampoo
rated 2 of 5
LittleBear23 6/20/2011 5:46:00 PM

I think you would have to have very course, dry hair for this to be a good shampoo for you. I got a little sample of this when I bought the argan conditioner. I love the conditioner. My hair is fine, thick, and straight, but also colored. So, I have a little bit of damage to my hair. It soaks up the conditioner and ends up soft and bouncy. The shampoo, however, left a thick residue on my hair- probably the argan oil. I ended up having to immediately re-wash it. It was pretty gross, actually. However, if you have very course, dry hair, you should get a sample of this. It might work well for you.

Fragrances -Prada - Prada Amber pour Homme (Prada Man)
rated 4 of 5
LittleBear23 6/14/2011 5:19:00 PM

I was thinking about buying some cologne for my dad for Father's Day. Based on reviews (both here and on the Sephora site) I thought this might be the one. I went to Sephora and sprayed some on the inside of my elbo so I could smell it off and one for a few hours. At first I really liked it. It is definitely unisex and I could see a woman wearing this. For a little moment I thought I might want to wear it. Sadly, I was really disappointed in the dry down. It's definitely a powdery amber scent but something in the final note reminded me too much of one of my grandfathers who was not a nice man. I think he wore Giorgio for men. Anyway, I had to scrub it off my skin and cross this off my list.

Shampoo -Paul Mitchell - Shampoo One
rated 4 of 5
LittleBear23 6/14/2011 5:11:00 PM

This is a perfectly acceptable shampoo. I have fine, thick, straight hair. The last 10" or so was bleached at one time; so that part is a bit dry/fragile. I don't use any products in my hair except shampoo, conditioner, and sometimes leave-in conditioner; so, I can't say how good this shampoo might be at removing styling products. I felt like it got my hair clean but it might not be gentle enough for the damaged parts of my hair. If I had all virgin hair I think this would be an excellent shampoo. It lathers well, smells great, and doesn't cost much.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Exact Eyelights
rated 2 of 5
LittleBear23 6/14/2011 5:03:00 PM

I bought this in the bronze color, for hazel eyes. I don't have hazel eyes. I have brown eyes but I thought the bronze might bring out the gold in them. This is lousy mascara. Really lousy. It barely darkens and barely lengthens. I don't see even a tiny hint of bronze. I do like the brush and I like that this is not a clumpy mascara. Not recommended.

I LOVE LOVE this color!!! It's a perfect sky blue- like on a gorgeous summer day when the sky is a bright, saturated color. This is the perfect summer pedicure color.

Lotions/ Creams -Nivea - Sun Kissed firming moisturizer light to medium skin (body)
rated 3 of 5
LittleBear23 5/17/2011 4:53:00 PM

This is a review for the "medium to dark" version. I couldn't find a separate listing for it. I like that this lotion is very thin. It makes it easy to get all over, including between my shoulder blades. I also like that it doesn't streak and that it's gradual. What I don't like is that the color is a bit too orange, the smell is horrendous and lasts for many hours, and I got a LOT of acne on my chest about 8 hours after using this. Stupid me, I kept using it for a few more days. I didn't have any chest acne before and now I'm combating 4 fully formed pimples and I can feel another 6 or so coming up. Gross! Between that and the truly toxic smell I can't recommend this to anyone.

Lotions/ Creams -Jergens - Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer
rated 4 of 5
LittleBear23 5/17/2011 4:42:00 PM

I think this is one of the best gradual tanners. The color is nice and it doesn't get streaky. It is easy to build color. Unfortunately, the smell is horrid. It's not any worse than other tanners but it's still terrible. I can't stand to have this smell all over my body- and the stink lasts for hours. I actually think it makes me nauseous. I'm also pretty sure it's responsible for some acne that just came up on my chest.

Conditioner -Kiehls - Superbly Smoothing Argan Conditioner
rated 5 of 5
LittleBear23 5/13/2011 5:39:00 PM

I really love this conditioner. I got some sample packets of it last Fall and finally took them out on a weekend trip in April. This stuff makes my hair feel very soft, but leaves it even fluffier than before. I was really afraid it would be too heavy for me since I have fine, straight hair. I was wrong. I cannot figure out how this makes my hair MUCH softer but also MUCH fluffier. Whatever it is, I love it. I haven't tried the shampoo yet. I'm using this with either Pantene shampoo for colored hair or Suave coconut shampoo. I think that's the key for me- to use a non-moisturizing shampoo and then this conditioner. My hair is thick and past my shoulders but I don't have to use much conditioner on it. Maybe a heaping tablespoon, combed through. It does have a strange smell that's bordering on unpleasant for me but I think it's the argan oil. See if you can get a sample at Kiehl's. You should try this stuff.

Styling Products -Victoria's Secret - So Sexy Instant Detangler
rated 4 of 5
LittleBear23 5/6/2011 6:38:00 PM

I bought this along with the So Sexy Nourishing shampoo and conditioner on a 3/$24 deal. This is a very good leave-in. It does not leave my hair heavy even when I use a lot of it. It's not sticky. It leaves my fine, straight, damaged hair detangled and soft but still fluffy. It's a good shampoo/conditioner/detangler combo and I'm sure I will re-buy all three when I need to. The only bummer is that I don't get the amazing scent with this product line that other reviewers mentioned. My theory is that lack of scent is because I air dry my hair. I don't use any heat at all. I'm guessing that whatever the wonderful scent is it's being released by heat. So, probably if you blow dry it would work, and those who blow dry and flat iron probably get a the most out of the smell. It's just a theory. I'm not going to test it by blow-drying my hair because I'm really trying to grow it out and I can't afford that damage.

Conditioner -Victoria's Secret - So Sexy Nourishing Conditioner
rated 4 of 5
LittleBear23 5/6/2011 6:34:00 PM

I'm super disappointed in the scent of this conditioner. Every other reviewer goes on and on about how great it smells and how long the smell lasts. The woman at VS who sold it to me raved about the scent. She even said "You don't have to wear perfume when you use this." So, I'm expecting a strong, long-lasting scent. Nothing. I got nothing. The scent in the bottle is ok and its about as strong as any other conditioner scent- but, the other reviewers said it smells stronger and better on your hair- ok. Still, nothing, really truly nothing. I used the shampoo, the conditioner, and the leave in conditioning spray- all the "So, Sexy" scent. I've done this whole routine twice and I even asked my husband to smell my hair- nothing- no scent at all. I actually think this is a great shampoo/conditioner/leave-in combo. My fine, straight, damaged hair looks and feels wonderful. I got all three products on a 3/$24 deal, which makes this very affordable. I will keep using it because it makes my hair look and feel great but I'm bummed that I don't get the wonderful, you-don't-need-perfume smell. Lotions/ Creams -Supre - Hempz Herbal Moisturizer
rated 5 of 5
LittleBear23 4/22/2011 7:34:00 PM

This is actually the very best body lotion I've ever used and everyone who has tried mine has said that same thing. My husband loves it. My step daughter loves it. My niece loves it. It's that good. I strongly prefer the original over the cucumber in terms of both scent and functionality. I really love the scent of the original. It sinks it quickly. I moisturizes well. It gets rid of itchiness and helps with any kind of skin issue like excema etc. They're making this is food scents now too. I've just tried the orange cupcake (or whatever it's called- it smells like orange cake). The scent is cloyingly sweet and I love it too! The lotion is just as good as the original. This is a major thumbs up. Don't be put off by the price. You're gonna love this lotion.

Lips -Burt's Bees - Fig Lip Shimmer
rated 3 of 5
LittleBear23 4/7/2011 6:58:00 PM

Meh... it's ok. I LOVE the lip shimmer in Merlot and, based on the cap color, I was expecting something similar but with a bit of brown in it. Nope. This stuff barely has any tint at all. It's tinted about as much as any other so-called "tinted" lip balm. You can maybe see a teeny tiny bit of color. It's a good balm though. It's moisturizing and it's inexpensive. I was just really hoping for a more saturated color. Oh, and once you twist the balm up, it won't go down again. You can't just turn the little wheel the other way and make it go down. So, that can make it ooze out over the side of the cap and mess up your bag.
