Sunscreen -Neutrogena - Pure & Free Baby SPF 60
Lisa_Marie 1/9/2009 12:00:00 PM
UPDATE - September 09 - This started to bother the skin around my eyes. Otherwise, a good product. Original Review: This is a review for the new (January 09) Neutrogena Pure & Free Baby. It is an all physical ss with SPF 60+! It contains relatively low concentrations of Titanium Dioxide (4.9%) and Zinc Oxide (4.7%). As I understand it, they chemically enhance the actives to bring it up to SPF 60. Sounds good to me. I'm on day two of this product. So far, no breakouts. The finish is slightly white (nothing a light dusting of loose powder can't fix) and matte. I find it slightly too dry for my skin (I'm dry to start). It might be better in the summer. For now, four lippies. Would be five if it was moisturizing. The package is a flat squeeze tube; so product stays fresh and travels well. Overall, a nice new product from Neutrogena. As a side note, the Helioplex sunscreens cause irritation and stinging for me. I didn't have any trouble with the Pure & Free. Loose Powders -Sally Hansen - Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy Truly Translucent Loose Powder
Lisa_Marie 7/20/2008 8:44:00 AM
I have this in the lightest shade and the light yellow. Both colors are beautiful! The power is finely milled and sets makeup well (It doesn't provide much coverage on its own). Thankfully, there is no shimmer or glitter, so the finish looks natural. There are only two drawbacks: (1) Price is a little high for d/s (I'll only get this on BOGO or at least 50% off), and (2) the packaging is a bit off (as other reviewers have noted). Of course, that can be solved by transferring it to a traditional loose powder container.

Shampoo -Matrix - Biolage - Cooling Mint Shampoo
Lisa_Marie 4/15/2008 10:24:00 AM
This is a review for the new cooling mint shampoo (white bottle with green top). The product has a slight medicial smell, but really gets my scalp clean without drying hair. It suds up well and rinses clean. I follow with the matching conditioner to detangle. My hair feels light and clean and has decent body whe I use this. For reference, I have wavy, fine hair that tends to be oily/flat if I don't wash every day.

Powder -Clinique - Almost Powder Makeup SPF 15
Lisa_Marie 4/6/2008 8:09:00 AM
I picked this up to be able to top off my sunscreen mid-day before going out to lunch (I have been using Clinique City Block SPF 25). At first I liked it -- but after reapplying it, I found that it was not invisible. It looked a little cakey and dry. I brought it back to Macy's (too expensive at $24 to toss). This might work well of normal/oily skinned gals. Just not for very dry skin types. Color palette is pretty good and bravo for ss in a powder.

Misc Beauty Tools -Clarisonic - Pro Skincare Brush
Lisa_Marie 1/13/2008 11:52:00 AM
I got one a few weeks before Christmas. I started using it with the "gentle" head twice a day with the supplied sample cleanser, Neutrogena Extra Gentle, or CeraVe, depending on how sensitive/dry my skin was at the time. After a few weeks, I cut down to one a day (night). This thing takes off even stubborn sunscreen with gentle cleansers. No need for an oil pretreat or drying oil-based cleanser. I have normal/dry to very dry skin that used to get some breakouts around the chin/forehead on occasion. Since I've been using the Clairsonic, I've had virtually no breakouts. Plus my skin seems to be more normal than dry these days (way fewer flakes too). I saw someone today who I haven't seen in a while and he complimented my skin! I love this thing and am so glad I spent the money. The only downside (after initial investmemnt) is that replacement heads are like 25 bucks. So I have to buy these plus the replacements heads for my Sonicare toothbrush (which I also love). But I figure I'm going to spend less on expensive skincare in the long run. Hope this helps someone on the fence.

Treatments -Sunsilk - Beyond Brunette Colour Boost
Lisa_Marie 11/16/2007 10:11:00 PM
I really wanted to like this based on the reviews. I felt like it coated my hair. It felt waxy somehow. I returned it to Target. Maybe I'll try Aveda next.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Illuminating Microderm Cleansing Pads
Lisa_Marie 11/4/2007 8:45:00 AM
I like the concept of these - a pad with cleanser that is scrubby on one side and smooth on the other. I'll use these a few times per week at night to remove mu and buff dry skin. These do tend to be a bit harsh, so minus two lippies. Otherwise, pretty good product. Wish they had a gentle version for sensitive skin types with a richer cleanser.

Moisturizers -Neutrogena - Anti-Oxidant Age Reverse SPF 20
Lisa_Marie 10/20/2007 11:06:00 AM
I've used this for a few days now. I was looking for a stable (this contains Helioplex) ss to use for indoor work days. I think the PPD on this is only around 7-9. Pros: Semi-matte, sinks in right away, stable, easy to find. Cons: Not a lot of moisture, cost is high for a drugstore product.

Pressed Powders -Maybelline - Dream Matte Pressed Powder
Lisa_Marie 9/16/2007 11:35:00 AM
This is a great new product. Powder comes in beautiful, real skin colors. If you avoid DS powders because of the horrible colors (Cover Girl, Neutrogena, etc.) for fair, yellow toned skin, give this a try. Way to go Maybellene! My only complaints are with the package (bulky) and applicator (thin and cheap).

Styling Products -TiGi - Bedhead Small Talk
Lisa_Marie 6/24/2007 1:12:00 PM
I love this product. I put it in wet hair in the morning. By the time I get to work, my hair is (almost) dry and looks great. if I go without Small Talk, I somehow manage to get flat/frizz. This is a must have for straight/slightly wavy hair. Only cons are price and bottle shape (the bottle is a ball and it is too bulky to carry to the gym).

Loose Powders -Everyday Minerals - Sunscreen Fair
Lisa_Marie 5/7/2007 5:08:00 PM
This is a nice, light powder that applies easily. The color is very natural (not too pink/peach). I have dry skin -- and this seems to highlight the flakes and other dry bits, so it is not for me. This might work well for someone who is fair with normal/oily skin.

Hair Color -Clairol - Nice 'n Easy - Root Touch Up
Lisa_Marie 9/7/2006 8:50:00 AM
I got this product to cover my first grays. It blends them in very well. You don't get that "just colored" too intense look. I used to dye my whole head with a level 2 product (Natural Instincts), but that was messy and took too long (plus it gave me that "just colored" look for about a week). Root Touch Up only takes 5 minutes to apply and 10 to develop. My only complaint is the cost for such a tiny amount of product. It is more than enough to do the job on my normal hair, but costs the same as the kits intended for the entire head.

Styling Products -Beyond The Zone - The Scruncher
Lisa_Marie 7/15/2006 6:55:00 PM
Pros are that this really holds hair well and is easy to brush through (and it is a HUGE bottle for five bucks). Cons are that it is a bit drying and has a strong scent that lingers...

Treatments -Avene - Cleanance K
Lisa_Marie 7/12/2006 10:04:00 PM
This cleared up a few spots for me in less than a week and made my skin look fresh. Plus it is not irritating. Only downside is the smell. Reminds me of a cheap men's cologne from the 80s.

Sunscreen -Hawaiian Tropic - Hawaiian Tropic Oil-Free Faces SPF 30, Sheer Reflections Formula [DISCONTINUED]
Lisa_Marie 6/18/2006 10:44:00 PM
Great sunscreen for 6 bucks! It's light, sheer, cosmetically elegant and has no white cast. No clogged pores or breakouts. Slight sting around nose/cheeks, so I would not use on/near eyes (minus 1 lippe). Overall excellevt value. ***UPDATE 7/15*** OK I think this is giving me clogged pores. Minus one more lippie...
