Eye Shadow -MAC - Twinks
L22nene 12/5/2009 5:50:00 PM
I was lucky enough to try this when a super generous swapper added this in a swap. It's a great crease color and can be combined to create a pretty smokey brown look. So glad I got to try this out as I probably wouldn't have discovered it.

Mascara -Stila - Lash Visor (New- Fall 2004)
L22nene 11/12/2009 1:01:00 AM
I purchased the Stila gift of appreciation kit at sephora about a month ago. I didn't have any expectations for this mascara as the kit itself was so inexpensive and figured the reason would most likely be that the products were minimal quality at best. I was so wrong! Each product is awesome, I'm still shocked the kit is so inexpensive (still on sale on the Sephora website) ANYWAY, back the mascara, it's awesome. it makes my lashes CRAZY long and thick, it's officially beaten my lashblast mascara in regards to it's ability to provide amazing results for my lashes. Would highly recommend, I'm not sure if they even have this product available individually as I found it here stating it was a 2004 item. Either way, it's great!

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Matte Foundation spf 15
L22nene 10/19/2009 6:39:00 PM
I had a bad experience with the original formula so i didn't run to try this product when it first came out. After doing some research on youtube and here, I became curious. I've been having horrible break outs lately and unfortunately I think it's due to the liquid foundation I've been using. So I headed off to Ulta and was happily assisted by a sales associate. She "matched" me in a light shade, NOW, with the previous formula I was using medium beige and even felt I should be using the medium tan, and with liquid foundations I def. don't go anywhere near the "light" shades. She was just so complimentary and saying she loved how it looked on me, ( I know, i'm so gullible) but I honestly did enjoy the coverage I saw in the store so I purchased it. I think I probably could have gone a bit darker, maybe even the medium tone, but I guess at this point we'll have to wait and see. So far I am loving the feel of this formula, don't feel like I have anything on, my skin feels "clean" and just overall very lightweight but it's definitely providing the right coverage for my current problem skin. I did notice that my pores looked HUGE when she was finished applying the product, but after she applied the mineral veil and the warmth it minimized this quite a bit. Anyway, overall a 4/5, if I return this it'll probably be to find a better suited shade.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #168 Large Angled Contour Brush
L22nene 10/8/2009 11:23:00 PM
I first tried a version of this brush when I purchased the mac face holiday set ... speaking of those holiday sets, I don't care that these are super cute, they don't compare to the full sized brushes AT ALL, mainly just the travel sized FACE brushes. I would suggest saving your money and shelling out the bucks for the full sized versions . . . sorry, I was a newbie at one point too and fell for the hype of the adorable travel sets because "they're such a good deal" . ... Ok back the FULL sized brush : ) i love it.... it's super soft, i use mine every single day for blush and it just gives such a nice application of product.

Lipstick -Rimmel - Lasting Finish - Pink Champagne
L22nene 10/8/2009 11:12:00 PM
I've been into this lipstick craze lately and I'd heard this shade was comparable to a wearable mac st germain so i had to have it. It's lovely on it's own and looks great when matched with a gloss. I happen to wear this with The Body Shop's Yes Yes Yes Tantalizing lip Butter, it tones down the barbie pink shade into a more work, wearable shade. Would def. repurchase again.

Lipstick -Hard Candy - Fire Alarm
L22nene 9/27/2009 5:28:00 PM
I just happened to be walking in the makeup aisles at Walmart and stumbled upon the Hard Candy brand smiling back at me! I was so surprised, (didn't realize they switched to low end) I knew I had to try one of the products and decided to settle on this l/s. It's a soft pink/nude that is super creamy in consistency and is basically comparable to the hard candy high end brand. I am in love with this shade and am very excited about the affordability, I paid 6 bucks for the lipstick, plus the packaging is pretty cute. I will have to go back and check out the rest of the line, they had some fun looking blushes, highlighters/bronzers and mascaras. Overall would rate this an enthusiastic 5!

Mascara -Lancome - Hypnose Drama
L22nene 9/6/2009 5:06:00 PM
Saw the ad with Kate Winslet advertising this and had to try it. Couldn't find it at any Lancome counter, neither macys or Nordys, had to go to sephora to get it. first couple of applications were ok, I felt it left my lashes uncomfortably clumpy, but after some working out with a lash comb, left a very nice appearance. Also has a strong chemically scent. Definitely gives more volume, and length compared to my low end fave mascara, lash blast by Covergirl. But you do have to comb through lashes to get that nice separated lash look. I have since been asked 3 times while wearing this mascara if my lashes are fake, so that makes this a winner in my book. would prob. purchase this again. UPDATE: So after about a month and a half of using this, I realized that my 3 dollar low end mascara was working way better than this. This leaves my lashes so clumpy after application. Any mascara that costs over $25 shouldn't require you to have to do extra work like comb through them!! This stuff went back to Sephora...

Lip Gloss -NYX - lipgloss-sweetheart
L22nene 8/15/2009 1:23:00 AM
I have been looking for a dupe of Mac's d/c starlet kiss lipglass everywhere. After watching Marlena on youtube, she mentioned this shade as being comparable. I've never actually seen the shade in person, but after comparing it to some online swatches it's pretty dead on. Very creamy, subtle, opaque pinkish hue. It's gorgeous on tan skin and I would highly recommend it. I'm still holding out for Starlet kiss, but this will do for the meantime : )

Self Tanners -Unlisted Brand - mystic tan
L22nene 7/18/2009 4:09:00 PM
I read the reviews on here before getting a mystic tan. I was a bridesmaid in a wedding recently and wanted a nice glow. I readily arrived at the tanning salon without any lotions, body spray products and freshly shaven legs. The girl at the salon advised tanning in a bed for a few minutes since this would "open my pores" and therefore make the product apply more evenly and last longer. Not sure why I fell for that, (the whole point of the spray tan was to not use a bed) whatever - anyway, she then instructed me to use the lotion ( not sure what it's called) heavily on my hands and feet before going in to the spray booth. I wish I would've used more of this, she said that on drier skin, the spray tan would apply darker and "streakier". She was right. To make a long story short, I liked the overall outcome of this mystic tanning experience. I got a level 2 and it took about a total of 6 hours for the color to set in. I did appear to be a bit on the orange side at first, but this slowly settled into a nice glow/tan color. I'm latin, so my natural skin color is yellow toned. I also noticed a bit of streaking on the 2nd day, especially around my feet. the streaking around these areas never really went away, but slowly faded once the spray on washed off. I do advise to moisturize like crazy once the 12 hour period of having this stuff on wears off. It indeed extends the life of the tan, and adds to the glow effect. My hands actually looked drier 1 day after, but once moisturized looked ok. I paid around $35 for this including the cost of the tanning bed. I would rate about a 6/10, and if I found myself needing some color at the last minute again, would opt for this product again.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Naked Lunch
L22nene 7/14/2009 3:35:00 AM
I didn't find myself reaching for this very often so I put it up for swap. Something told me there was something special about this e/s so I decided to give it another try. It's actually quite versatile despite it's appearance in the pan. It can be applied as an all over color, as a highlight on the brow bone, or in the inner lid. Again very versatile. On my NC 35 skin, this shows up as a sheer, subtle shimmery pink. I probably wouldn't purchase this anytime soon since I think there are plenty of lower end very comparable dupes available.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Via Veneto Dazzleglass
L22nene 7/14/2009 3:24:00 AM
Ooooooo ... That pretty much sums up how I feel about this l/g. It's so lovely in the tube and i actually find this to be one of the more pigmented d/g's available. The only con is the amount of product you get for the price for these -- I find myself trying not to wear this so I don't use it all up! Out of the 8 dazzleglasses I own this is officially my favorite.

Lipstick -NYX - Round Lipstick Power
L22nene 7/14/2009 3:16:00 AM
I heard this was comparable to MAC's lavender whip, and before having received LW in a swap, I purchased this. This is like butter on my lips, it's consistency is super creamy and it's a flattering shade on my NC 35 skin. It's a tad sheerer than LW, not as pigmented, and I do find having to reapply more often with this. But hey, for 3 bux, I can't complain. Great dupe for Lavender whip and I would def. repurchase.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
L22nene 7/14/2009 3:10:00 AM
I was hesitant to purchase this based on the mixed reviews, but I caved and have had this mascara for about 2 months now. I can honestly say that the claims for this do hold up. Out of the current mascaras I own at the moment, some which are high and low end, this is the only one that I reach for when I want dramatic, long, thick lashes. It doesn't clump or flake and the formula is great. The only con is the brush. It's huge! I have smaller eyes and have to really get close to a mirror to make sure I coat my lashes carefully to prevent smudging from the gigantic brush. Overall though, great mascara. I will def. repurchase once I'm out.

Mascara -Maybelline - Sky High Curves Extreme Length and Curl [DISCONTINUED]
L22nene 7/14/2009 3:02:00 AM
I purchased this at Rite Aid for about 2 bux and so of course, me loving deals snatched this up. This makes my lashes appear very soft, not 'sky high' like promised on the tube and nothing super special but I do find myself reaching for this more frequently lately. I really like the brush applicator and haven't found the formula to be flaky or goopy. I probably wouldn't pay more than 5 bux for this if I were in need of a good mascara, but would def. recommend if you're looking for soft lashes.

Blush -MAC - Sheertone Shimmer blush in Peachykeen
L22nene 7/14/2009 2:53:00 AM
I am in love with this blush. I purchased this during MAC's FF sale last month and have been wearing it every chance I get. When I initially saw this at the counter it didn't really appeal to me in the pan, but once I tried it on I loved it. It's the perfect peach shade. It's very buildable and gives me that "pop" of color that's appropriate for work. 5 out of 5 lippies for me!
