Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - toilet seat covers

I use seat covers to blot excess oil at least twice a day. Works better than any blotting paper I have tried, and it’s FREE! It doesn’t get any better than that! :-)

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Wholesale Body Oils
rated 5 of 5
KayBella 5/15/2009 5:27:00 PM

I also bought the samples of these fragrances based on Bigglyboo’s recommendation, and I cannot thank her enough! I am amazed at the quality of the samples I received. I also ordered samples of some perfumes that I already own (Daisy, Burberry London, Black Orchid) because I wanted to test the samples against the originals. I was blown away, IMO they are exactly the same. Even at the end of the day, none of the duplicates had “turned”, they all smelled true to the original. After being so happy with the results of my samples, I ordered the “Super Cologne Spray” in Tobacco Vanille and Black Orchid. I had wanted to try Tobacco Vanille for a long time, but couldn’t bring myself to plunk down a gazillion dollars for a bottle. I can’t say enough good things about the super cologne dupe that I purchased. Both of the fragrances last all day (even my original Black Orchid doesn’t do that!). I have since purchased 8 oz of the body oil in Tobacco Vanille and in Black Orchid, and have added it to my lotion, conditioner, homemade body scrubs, etc. The customer service has been great, there was a question on one of my orders, the representative called me, was very polite and helpful, and we got the issue cleared up. I agree with the other reviewers that the bottles aren’t gorgeous, but who cares?? With the money I save, I can buy a fancy perfume bottle that will look fabulous on my vanity. The other etailers I have used for fragrance oils are; Save On Scents, FNWL, and Sweetcakes. Wholesale Body Oils has provided the best quality of product, and excellent customer service. When I ordered my samples, they had a special offer for first time buyers, for about $15 you can try 5 different oils. I highly recommend giving these body oils a try! EDIT (1/2/13) After an email from a fellow MUAer, I decided I needed to edit this review. I used these products (super cologne spray, fragrance spray) for a few months, and then found that they started to "turn", and get a strange chemical smell to them. The one product I still really like are the fragrance oils themselves. I still like to add them to lotions to layer under my fragrances. However, for me, it has been more cost effective to order the actual perfume, instead of the dupes offered by this etailer. The original perfumes last alot longer (I am super careful about how I store all my perfumes, away from light and heat ALWAYS, unless that fragrance is in 'rotation'). I hate having to throw away an unused product because it has gone bad. In the end, that seems like a bigger waste of money!

Hair -Moroccanoil - Moroccan Oil
rated 5 of 5
KayBella 5/14/2009 4:18:00 PM

Normally I will wait a week or two to review a product to see what I think of it, not just my early, brand new product, crush thoughts. However, I have only used this today, and I get the hype!! I have shoulder length, wavy, thin (but lots of it), high-lighted hair. Most silicone products weigh my hair down, and/or make it behave badly in innumerable ways. This product, however, is WONDERFUL!! Like other reviewers have said, my hair dried in about half of the time. It’s shiny, soft (slippery, actually) and is behaving very well. My fly-aways are gone, my hair is holding it’s curl, and doesn’t look the least bit “fuzzy”, for lack of a better word. I love this hair oil! It will be a long time before I have to contemplate buying a new bottle, my guess is this product will last my hair a year, with everyday usage. I bought it at drugstore.com, as part of an order, I wanted to get free shipping. It was $35 US. But considering how long I think it will last, the price isn’t a problem. I changed the packaging, putting the oil into an empty lotion dispenser I have. I wanted to only be able to get a drop or two at a time. And like everyone else says, it smells great. It smells like incense, but not stinky smoky incense. Just spicy and clean. Definitely give this one a try!! (EDIT) Four months later, I still LOVE this stuff. Still use it everyday, AND, I am still on my first bottle! :-)

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Squalane Oil- Olive Derived
rated 5 of 5
KayBella 5/8/2009 3:49:00 PM

I have waited about one and a half weeks to write this review. I purchased this oil after using EVOO on my face (which worked very well. But I am “of a certain age”, and wanted to ramp up my products, so to speak). I read that squalane oil is olive derived (it can also be shark derived…just say no), and is like a concentrated olive oil, with tons of antioxidants in it. Well, I am completely blown away by this oil! I love this product, and won’t be without it again. I use it every night, after I wash my face, but before I put on a treatment lotion. It sinks in quickly, and feels very light. Then I continue on with my regular anti-oxidant lotion. I have also started putting a drop or two on right after my shower in the morning, when my skin is still moist. I use it first thing, and then put my makeup on over it. My foundation seems to blend in a little better, and I haven’t noticed any extra oiliness during the day. I am a results oriented girl, so in order for me to make a recommendation for a product, it has to WORK, and boy, does this one do a great job! My skin *glows*, for lack of a better word. I have noticed a difference in my age spots, but I keep telling myself it’s too soon for the oil to be working on that. Maybe it’s my imagination, but then again, maybe not...my beloved BF told me several times over the last few days that I have been looking “radiant”! I bought it on-line at Garden of Wisdom, and was very happy with the price ~ $12 US for 2 oz, and around $30 US for 8 oz (not including shipping). Considering I only use about 3 or 4 drops a night, this stuff will last me years! I will continue to experiment with this (I would like to try it as a scalp massage/hair deep conditioner) and report back if anything else fabulous occurs. But as a facial moisturizer, this is wonderful! I gave the packaging 3 lippies only because I had to replace the top that came with the bottle so I could better control the amount of oil that comes out. EDIT: 2 months later, I still LOVE this oil. I use 1/2 EVOO, and 1/2 Squalane on my face every night, and my skin has never looked better. (Well, it looked better when I was 21, but there's not a whole lot I can do about that.) I would still reccomend this product with NO hesitations at all!!

Eyeliner -Wet 'n' Wild - MegaLiner Liquid Eyeliner #864 Purple
rated 4 of 5
KayBella 5/7/2009 5:07:00 PM

I recently purchased this eyeliner against my better judgment. Years previously, I had tried liquid eyeliner, and made myself into a hot mess with it. I tried to use it several times with disastrous results. I concluded that I just wasn’t an “eyeliner” person. I figured the ability to use liquid eyeliner was a gift that I didn’t have. Oh well. After reading the reviews on MUA, I decided to give it one more try. Wet and Wild is cheap, so I figured the worst that could happen is I would blow a few bucks and end up looking like a cheap whore (like that’s a bad thing :-)). However, I tried the Wet N Wild liquid eyeliner, and it is fabulous! The purple doesn’t come across as too purple, it’s just a nice accent that really makes my green eyes pop! I am sooo happy that I decided to give liquid liner one more go. I love this stuff! I give it four lippies only because I have a hard time getting it off when I wash my face. I may try other eyeliners, who knows…I am toying with the idea of a sapphire colored liquid liner…

Sunscreen -Ocean Potion - SPF 30 sunscreen
rated 5 of 5
KayBella 5/6/2009 1:44:00 PM

I adore this sunscreen! I have been using it for six or seven years. At first, I had a hard time finding it in California, but now it’s at WalMart, so I can get some whenever need be. I have medium toned skin, and it has always worked well for me, in the 30 SPF lotion (a few years ago) and now in the 50 SPF lotion. However, my gorgeous son really shows his Norwegian heritage, he is a strawberry blond with blue eyes, and so white he glows in the dark. (Really.) When he was younger, I used the SPF 30 on him, re-applying every few hours, and we spent many happy afternoons swimming and playing in the sun, he never ONCE got burned. His skin is the true test of how good this product is! I recommend it to everyone. Plus the scent is fabulous!!

Conditioner -Suave - Vanilla Floral Conditioner
rated 4 of 5
KayBella 5/4/2009 2:32:00 PM

I love this product! I have used it as a regular conditioner after either my Aveda Damage Repair shampoo, or my Fructis-Garnier knock-off (colored/highlighted hair, thank you, WalMart), and it works well. But I really like to use it as a leave-in conditioner. I take a pea size amount for my highlighted, shoulder length hair, and rub it in after I towel dry my hair. Then I blowdry and style as normal. It has dramatically cut down on my frizzies, and my boyfriend loves to run his fingers through my “silky” hair! Thanks to another MUAer, I discovered Wholesale Body Oils, and ordered the knockoff of Tom Ford’s Black Orchid. I put about 25 drops in my bottle of Suave conditioner, and it smells sooo good! I was entranced by the idea of the Black Orchid hair perfume, but not willing to pay a whole lot of money for it. I am really happy with this combination. I highly recommend this as a leave-in! Just a drop keeps my hair smooth all day, and it’s easy to scent, if you are into that kind of thing. I will definitely repurchase this conditioner when I run out. EDIT: I am editing this review only because I found Morrocan Hair oil, and think it does a better job of taming my frizzies. I will continue to use this as a leave in occasionally, but may put it back in rotation among my "regular" conditioners...

Lipstick -Wet 'n' Wild - wild shine # 924 Fetish
rated 5 of 5
KayBella 4/30/2009 11:21:00 AM

Ladies, I agree with you both, THANK YOU! This is why I love MUA, you get the honest opinion of real women (and men?? Hey, we don’t all go to the same church) about products. This lip “lacquer” is wonderful! I would call it a cross between a lipstick and a lip gloss. It’s shiny, and moist, but not too shiny, and definitely not sticky. It leaves a light amount of color on my lips, looking very natural, but better. As previous reviewers have said, it’s a nice subtle pink, but not too pink. Perfect for my conservative office, where most makeup is understated or non-existent (get those ladies the help they need). I love it! I will buy it again when I use up my supply. I bought it on drugstore.com, it was a BOGO-half off deal. I purchased 4 for around $6 US. Fabulous!!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Cover Girl Professional Mascara (washable)
rated 5 of 5
KayBella 4/29/2009 2:37:00 PM

I have tried them all! Department store, drug store, health food store (on my vegan kick), and I always come back to this mascara. It does everything, I can use it to lengthen (apply several coats), or just everyday (one or two coats). I have multiple colors, depending on what I am wearing, and the look I am going for (sweet, demure, vampy, etc.) It doesn’t clump, it doesn’t flake, it dries quickly, and comes off easily with soap and water. This is great mascara! Note to Self: Stay away from the Lancome counter after payday (did their Definicils mascara ever live up to the hype??), and drive to WalMart instead…

Powder -Bare Escentuals - bare Minerals Foundation #2/#3 & Mineral Veil
rated 1 of 5
KayBella 4/27/2009 6:49:00 PM

I received a small sample of this product, and gave it a whirl, literally. I was content enough with the results (and hey, I dug the DVD! Pretty ladies sitting around smiling and laughing together while they put on makeup, what’s not to like?) to break down and buy a larger container of it. Holy smokes, am I sorry I did that! Somewhere along the way, the formula must have changed, because this it totally different stuff! It’s super sparkly, it settles in my lines and crevices, making me look 10 years older than I am (only good when I was underage and wanted to buy beer) and leaves a trail of glitter all over my clothes. After I hug my boyfriend, it makes me wonder if he has been hanging out with strippers, he is so covered in sparkles. Bottom line, save your money. There are plenty of good setting powders out there (think Coty Airspun), you don’t have to go drop your money on this one. P.S. This review is for the Mineral Veil. But really, I am not that happy with the rest of the product line either. :-/
