Treatments -Makeup Artist's Choice (MUAC) - TCA Peel
Katherine99 12/20/2009 11:12:00 PM
I wonder how many other people are doing this over x-mas break as well! I have done 8% and 12.5% in the past and did not notice much improvement. I have used a retinoid for over 10 years and do glycolic and lactic peels so my skin is used to acids. I am currently in the process of a 18%. I was tempted to go up to 21% but it's better to be safe (after all, it is my face). I have followed the directions to a T and used extreme caution. My family has several people who work in the medical field who don't approve of me doing this but I am being extremely careful so please follow directions and do your research! I applied a full-face layer of 18% then applied another layer just on my acne scars. I am fair and the scars are red so they really stand out. I also have some pitting on one cheek that I'm trying to minimize. I applied a second layer on my forehead line as well. It's been 2 days and I'm starting to peel. My skin is tight and beginning to crack. I'm not helping it along at all (not a good idea since I'm prone to scarring). I'm being patient and trying to stay healthy by eating lots of fruits and veggies and drinking green tea. I haven't worked out for fear that sweat could cause an adverse reaction. Not worth it, IMO. I will update this post in a few days but so far, so good. UPDATE: Day 3 I'm starting to peel and skin is tight. I'm glad something is happening as I have not had this much happen with previous peels. My brother has been laughing at me and thinks I'm crazy but I have my eye on the prize which is lessening my acne scars! Update: Day 5 Pretty much all peeled. The difference is not nearly as noticeable as I would have hoped. The texture of my right cheek where I have the worst scarring is better but as far as lightening my new marks (thanks taz purging), there is no difference. What I have noticed is my laugh lines are completely erased (though, they were not bad to begin with as I'm 25, 26 soon). My forehead line is not much better and I'm thinking this is due to thicker skin there. However, I do think this has done a good job of cleaning out my clogged pores. I can see the clogs pouring out and I'm quite grateful for that. I'm planning on doing a 3 layer peel in late January and being more aggressive on my forehead and scarring. I have now done 3-4 TCA peels and have been so careful that I haven't seen great benefits. But I'm glad I've used precaution as now I don't feel so worried about upping the ante. I will update after the next peel!!!

Treatments -Makeup Artist's Choice (MUAC) - 15% BHA Peel
Katherine99 12/16/2009 11:03:00 PM
One of my favorite MUAC products. I do not use this all over. I usually prep my skin with 8% BHA or 50& glycolic all over (sometimes lactic). Then I will dip a q-tip in the 15% salicylic acid and go over my active pimples and scarring. Sometimes I get frosting. After the skin flakes off (usually 2-3) days, my acne and scars are better. I find this is more effective than just using the peels to fade the acne scarring.

Eye Shadow -Neutrogena - Nourishing Eye Quad Tea Biscuit 120
Katherine99 12/16/2009 11:00:00 PM
This is a basic quad. I like the fact that the base shade has spf and it's a pretty beige with sparkles. I'm not always the most creative when it comes to eyeshadow so it's nice to have the guess work taken out for me and follow the instructions. I have gotten compliments from people when wearing this who like how it's subtle but pretty. I have been waiting for a sale to try the other quads.

Sunscreen -IS Clinical - SPF 25 Treatment Sunscreen
Katherine99 12/16/2009 10:57:00 PM
Everyone at my dermatology clinic uses this sunblock. So I bought it and haven't been disappointed at all! I love the way the product is dispensed via a twist squeeze tube. It's a rather matte sunblock (one of the best I've found) and I feel the protection is quite superior. The price is a bit high but after realizing how much I like this, I will buy again.

Cleansers -Boscia - Purifying Cleansing Gel
Katherine99 12/16/2009 10:55:00 PM
I like this product just fine...but I don't think it's anything special. Also I've gone through the bottle rather quickly. I believe this is because I feel like it doesn't clean well since it does not lather much. I would buy again as it didn't make me break-out but it also didn't help prevent break-outs. It also is not enough to get make-up off. I prefer the clarifying cleanser.

Conditioner -Neutrogena - triple moisture deep recovery hair mask
Katherine99 3/27/2007 5:55:00 PM
I LOVE this product. By far, the best inexpensive conditioner I can find!!! I love to put it on my hair, put on a shower cap, get out of the shower and then rinse it off 30 minutes later. Sometimes I get distracted and leave it on longer and my hair feels amazing. This is great for color treated hair or if you have longer hair that is just dry. Best on the market.

Moisturizers -Dr. Hauschka - Normalizing Day Oil
Katherine99 3/27/2007 5:48:00 PM
First of all, this is not a good oil to use during the day. Especially since I use mineral makeup. The result makes me look like I have dry skin. That said, this is my night moisturizer. I love putting it on just after a shower. I have never used something that makes my skin feel so nice. It hasn't caused breakouts, and who knows, it might have helped prevent some. The best thing is that my skin feels nicer than it has in a long time. Just beware using it during the day if you use mineral makeup!

Cleansers -Pevonia Botanica - Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser
Katherine99 3/27/2007 5:46:00 PM
I like the gentleness of this product. I usualy use 2 fash washes when I was my face. One that gets off most my makeup and and second one to exfoliate and remove the rest. Gentle and exfoliating. This is a Pevonia product that does exactly what it says it will do.

Moisturizers -Pevonia Botanica - Combination Skin Care Cream
Katherine99 3/27/2007 5:44:00 PM
I really wanted to like this cream. I had the cream for redness during the winter's months and I really enjoyed the moisturizing benefits. However, this cream did nothing to control my oilyness even though it did moisturize. I am looking and looking for a combo skin cream that delivers.

Cleansers -Bliss Labs - clog-dissolving cleansing milk
Katherine99 10/27/2006 11:32:00 PM
I've been using this for a while and it's okay. For a cleanser this price it should be more than that. It doesn't break me out and leaves my skin soft. However, it doesn't prevent acne that I have either. Also, I sometimes feel like it doesn't get all my make-up off. If I use a toner after I see make-up on that. So I'm not sure how great this stuff really is.

Skincare - Face -Pro Activ - 3-Step System
Katherine99 10/27/2006 11:29:00 PM
I tried it and felt it was overpriced and overhyped. I highly doubt the celebrites in the commercials use this stuff! And there's not miracle ingredient in it. You can recreate proactiv with products at the drugstore. Save you money!

Powder -GloMinerals - GloPressed Base
Katherine99 10/27/2006 11:26:00 PM
This has been my main foundation for the past few years. It's a great product if you're looking for a mineral foundation. However, the powder form is not the best for skin year round. I'm looking for a new summer time foundation that won't streak

Conditioner -Pantene - Deep Hydrating Treatment Pure Brilliance
Katherine99 10/27/2006 11:23:00 PM
It's rare that a hair product makes your hair feel soooo much worse than when you started but this conditioner dried out my hair! I threw the entire thing away. That's what you get for going for a cheap drugstore brand. Garnier is much better, hell anything is better.

Treatments (Eye) -Ponds - Age Defeye
Katherine99 10/27/2006 11:19:00 PM
I've been using this eye cream for about 6 months now and it works better than expensive eye creams that I've tried. It really helps with dark circles and puffines. I don't have any wrinkles and still can't see any around my eyes so that is a good sign as well. I love this product and the price!
