Lip Gloss -Jordana - LOL Lip Out Loud! Super Shiny Gloss
IslandGirlSPN 8/4/2012 4:22:00 PM
I have always been a fan of sheer red lip gloss. I loved UD's Guys Love Betsey but it had been discontinued for some time now. I replaced it with an insanely cheap ELF Cherry Tart but they recently have added a sickly sweet flavoring to their otherwise perfect formula. Its too bad because it was an incredible dupe of UD GLB down to the minty feel. So now I have come to this gloss which I bought on a whim while checking out the Jordana display at Wags, For 1.99 I really didnt have much to lose if I didnt like it. PROS: NO TASTE to this gloss which is so very important for me. The color is bright warm sheer wash of red on my lips. So very flattering on me. NC25 for reference. CONS: It has a stinky watermelon jolly rancher scent to it that just will not quit. But between lip products having either scent or taste I would rather it be scent. I should just go dish out $20 for UD's sheer red gloss but I really want to find an affordable drugstore dupe that I once had in ELF cherry tart. Jordana's Lip Out Loud in XOXO is not it but for 1.99 it was a fun gloss to try and I will probably get it again.

Lip Gloss -E.L.F. - Luscious Liquid Lipstick in Maple Sugar
IslandGirlSPN 7/31/2012 10:03:00 PM
I loved this gloss very much UNTIL THEY ADDED a sweet taste to it. BEFORE it was just a minty feel, luscious texture, no sweet taste. Now its cr*p. So disappointed that they did this to something that was already perfect. Same with Perfect Pink. Its sweet. I have a feeling they probably did it to my number one Cherry Tart. Sad Sad Sad. Back to UD glosses which cost a heck of a lot more.

Polishes -Unlisted Brand - Pure Ice - Jaguar
IslandGirlSPN 7/31/2012 8:10:00 PM
When this shade first came out a few years ago I nabbed it up right away because i thought it was unique. Even today I havent seen another drugstore polish quite like it. A soft yellow gold with gold micro glitter. I wore it only ONCE before because on my pale skin (NC25) it sort of makes me look a bit sickly. I usually steer clear of yellowy polishes on their own for this reason and instead use them for layering. Now that I have slight tan this summer the polish looks a touch better. 3 coats to the bottle color but the brush tends to leave streaks. I will play with this more and layer my new fergie glitters over it to see how it turns out now that it is somewhat wearable. I wouldnt dare try to wear it again when I am pale this winter so this is the right time.

Polishes -Wet 'n' Wild - Fergie Hollywood Walk of Fame
IslandGirlSPN 7/31/2012 7:37:00 PM
This is one of the most fun & unique drug store polishes I have ever come across. This has very large rainbow star glitters floating in a cloudy base infused with these fine silver slivers. Because the stars are so large I only used them on my big toenails. I used them over a shimmery blue color and it looks so festive. Very shiny and flashy especially in the sun. I love it! Application was tricky though. I had to pat it on in order to get the right amount & right colors of stars right where I wanted them. It wasnt impossible though.

Polishes -Wet 'n' Wild - Fergie - Tonight's Gonna Be a Good Night
IslandGirlSPN 7/31/2012 7:25:00 PM
I found the Fergie WnW polish display @ Wags & picked out the 3 glitters I liked best with this being one of them. I agree with the first reviewer about it being pretty underwhelming. In order to spruce it up I added a coat of the fergie gold hex glitter "Glamorous" & it looked much better. Im still not eactly in love with the end result but it was fun to try. I posted two pics: The trio I bought & my notd w/ glamorous in the back of TGBGN over Pure Ice Jaguar. I have a limited edition WnW polish from last Halloween that has these same black glitters (but a little bit bigger than Fergies) floating in a clear base. I figured I can also try a coat of that to see how it turns out. :) Anyway it is a fun polish but I am loving the Hollywood Walk of fame rainbow star glitter the best out of the 3 I got.

Top/Base Coats -Orly - Nail Armor
IslandGirlSPN 7/31/2012 5:44:00 PM
Using two coats of this as per instruction works fine if I just want to wear something to protect my nails hence the name BUT I find that I cannot wear this with nail polish for very long. I never really had a problem with my polish chipping heavily the very next day until I used this as a base coat. I would usually use my cheaper Sinful basecoat ($4) and it does its job much better than this($7 @ Sallys). For simple nail protection I would get this again but with the amount of polishes I own I really should stick to wearing a new color often. (Plus I want to!) I honestly am not sure if I would buy this again. Maybe.... if its on sale. Then id give it to someone who just wants nail protection. haha. OH also I feel that the silky threads that are visible are more of a stab at a physical type of protection than chemical (even though this base coat smells a bit on the strong side) but because the bits are so small I really dont think it makes a real difference. I have a gut feeling this may be more of a gimmicky type nail treatment because Im just not convinced of the power of those miniscule silk threads.

Polishes -Sinful - San Francisco
IslandGirlSPN 7/25/2012 11:21:00 PM
I got this green to try after finding that WnW Sagreena the Teenage witch (exact same shade as this) was a horrible horrible formula. This one turned out much better. Opaque in 2 coats whereas the other was a nightmare....many more coats than 2...like I ridic amount to get the bottle shade. It dried in a normal amount of time unlike WnW which took forever to dry despite its "fast dry" name on its bottle. Between the two bargain dark green shimmer polishes, Sinful is the winner in my book. WnW needs to go in the garbage.

Polishes -Sinful - 24/7
IslandGirlSPN 7/25/2012 6:00:00 PM
This is my first experience using a neon color. NC25 here & this color really pops especially when I added a layer of Sinful pinky glitter over it. I didnt realize it was a matte polish until it dried. And it dried really really fast. I wish all my polishes dried like this does. I wish Sinful would label which of their polishes have a matte finish. Would be nice to know what I am buying. Anyway, the only reason I wont buy this again is the incredible noxious fumes this polish gives off. It is really and I mean REALLY strong smelling than most nail polish. I can usually stand polish fumes just fine but this one was just out of line with my nose. I am not sure if this is an issue with any of the other neons though. Over all it is a fun summer color but I think I will try neons from other brands in hopes that their fumes wont knock me out.

Polishes -Sinful - Call You Later
IslandGirlSPN 7/20/2012 4:44:00 PM
This is a fun unique glitter that I love layering over other polishes to give more flair. I need only one coat of this because it deposits just the right amount of the glitter pieces that I want. Just enough for the base color to show through. It has tiny gold & green circle glitter infused with larger green circle glitter. A note to those who knock off points for glitter polishes: No matter what brand high to low....glitter polishes will always be tough to take off. Thats the nature of glitter polishes. For bargain polishes, Sinful does an outstanding job with their color/formula selection.

Polishes -Ulta - Set the Nude
IslandGirlSPN 7/19/2012 4:17:00 PM
NC25 gal here. This nude shade has a very grey cast to it. Similar to L'Oreal Walk On The Beach but this has just a bit more grey tinge. I think they should change the name from Set the Nude to more of a Set the Beige. Most of my nude polishes have a more peachy tone to it. This has no trace of peach. Nevertheless I like this polish a lot. The new bottles are sleek. I love the shiny cap & how the brushes are wider.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Diamond Strength - Royal Romance
IslandGirlSPN 7/16/2012 11:43:00 PM
Oh my gosh this color is stunning! A medium purple that flashes gold. Just WOW! It looks kinda boring in the bottle but once on my nails it is truly beautiful. I received it as a gift from my SO so i would have never looked at this & bought it myself. I am so glad he did. Such a girly shade. I just love it. This is my first time using Diamond Strength polishes & it has been such a nice experience that I want to check out more colors. I thought the formula would be thin but it isnt. One coat if I needed but 2 coats to perfection. The bottle is pretty to look at than most & the brush makes application easier for me. Its similar to OPI's style with the wide side & thin side. NC25 for reference. It looks fabulous! :)

Polishes -OPI - I Vant To Be A-Lone Star
IslandGirlSPN 7/13/2012 8:16:00 PM
NC25 here. I scored this polish for a mere $2. So happy! This is a muted powder blue with a grey cast to it. Its lovely on my toes & such a unique color. It isnt loud at all so I should have put it on my fingers rather than my toes (I prefer the obnoxious colors on my toes no matter the season) but it looks great anyway. The color reminds me of an overcast winter day. I really like it a lot!

Nails -Cutex - Nourishing Nail Polish Remover
IslandGirlSPN 7/10/2012 2:45:00 PM
I will never use another brand of nail polish remover than this. It is tops!!! Why did it take me so long to try Cutex I have no idea. I used their felt pads and those are great as well. Anyway, it states that it removes nail polish 2 times as fast as regular np remover and believe me it does! (except for glitters....those will always be tedious to remove no matter what.) The fumes are not as harsh smelling as other brands. Simply the best drugstore nail polish remover ever. Try it! Its cheap! $1.79 for a 6 oz bottle @ Walmart.

Polishes -L.A. Colors - Color Craze Atomic
IslandGirlSPN 7/8/2012 11:44:00 PM
I went out looking for this shade after seeing it on the nail board. But the bottle I found does not look like the same color as the one featured here. The Atomic I have is a blue green/teal creme. It took 3 coats to get it fully opaque and it actually is darker once applied to my nails. NC25 I used it for the first time for my pedicure (see pic). It is a lovely and unique shade of teal. I have many teals and this one still managed to be different. It isnt the color I was expecting but it is still very pretty especially for such a cheap price! $1. I had a little issue with the brush being frayed but I simply cleaned the brush off & trimmed it. That got fixed right away. Overall I do like this shade and formula & especially the price so yes I would probably buy it again.

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - HIP Color Truth Cream Eyeliner in Brown
IslandGirlSPN 7/8/2012 7:14:00 PM
During my gel liner kick I tried Smashbox jet set, MAC fluidlines in a few shades, Maybelline eye studio also in a few shades, Physicians formula trio for hazel eyes & WnW in black then of course this from L'Oreal. This is by far the best formula I have tried. I dont reach for these gel liners often so all of them dried up in their pots into something un-usable (AFTER USING THEM LESS THAN MAYBE 8X EACH). The L'Oreal gel liner stayed creamy & fresh even a year later. Unbelievable! The color is a nice basic brown for an unfussy day time look for me NC25. The formula is chock full of pigment & gives you enough time to mess with (before it sets to a nice matte finish that doesnt flake on me. I have normal/dry skin during the time of using this) so it is easy to create a precise even color line without too much correcting. Its a good formula and worth the price even though it hovers close to MAC prices. Id rather have L'Oreal color truth cream liners over any of those that I have tried any day!
