Lotions/ Creams -Victoria's Secret - Drenched in PINK Soft & Dreamy
rated 5 of 5
IronPill 12/22/2011 2:58:00 PM

This and the other Pink lotions are expensive, but in my opinion worth it. It is so thick and creamy, much more than most drugstore lotions. I love using it especially during the cold, dry months. And the smell is great, too. I just love it.

Conditioner -Garnier - Long and Strong Conditioner
rated 3 of 5
IronPill 10/17/2011 2:46:00 PM

I have long, fine, thin hair that's not chemically treated. I bought this when my hair was dried out from cold weather plus damaged from overuse of a blow dryer. I really liked this. It super moisturized my hair without weighing it down, and it didn't build up. This doesn't have dimethicone, which is why I bought it. I avoid dimethicone because it builds up easily in my hair, making it look stringy and gross after a couple week's use. I originally bought it to deep moisturize my hair after protein treatments. I would glop this on, let it sit for half an hour, and my hair felt great. Then I started using it as a daily conditioner, I'd use a small amount on my ends. However, I stopped using it when it started to get hot and humid in the summer, it didn't seem to work that well for me anymore during those kinds of months as a daily conditioner. I would buy again.

Conditioner -Matrix - Biolage - Detangling Solution
rated 5 of 5
IronPill 10/15/2011 5:39:00 PM

I love this stuff. The new formula seems to have only amodimethicone in it, which in my opinion is a good silicone for us who have hair that gets build-up and weighed down too easily. I like this newer formula better than the old. This is really lightweight and great for most of the year, however, during the really dry winter months here (November - February), this isn't moisturizing enough so I don't use it then. But my hair gets really dry in the winter, so keep that in mind - it may still work for you during those months. This is pretty much my HG lightweight detangler/conditioner. The old formula is blue, this new one is white.

Shampoo -Matrix - Biolage - Hydrating Shampoo
rated 1 of 5
IronPill 10/15/2011 5:21:00 PM

I tried this out for 3 months, and also used the Biolage Normalizing shampoo a couple times a week along with it. I usually wash my hair every other day, but these shampoos dried my scalp out so badly that it became super oily and I had to wash every single day instead. And it dried the length of my hair out, too. Once I fixed the scalp problem with a natural oil deep treatment moisturizer on my scalp, I stopped using this shampoo. Waste of money.

Shampoo -Matrix - Biolage - normalizing shampoo

This dried out my scalp very badly, this and the Biolage Hydrating shampoo. I gave them both a chance for 3 months (to not waste the bottles). Big mistake. It dried my scalp out so badly that it became super oily.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Perfection Volumizing Mascara
rated 4 of 5
IronPill 9/5/2011 7:29:00 PM

I use this to get a natural, yet full, look. I have light brown hair and I bought the brown one. I have had no problems with it. It doesn't clump and I've not had flaking problems. I wear this on the days I want a natural pretty look with brown eyeliner. I have long lashes but they're very light and not very thick, and this volumes them well. I would buy it again.

Pressed Powders -Cover Girl - Clean pressed powder - Sensitive skin
rated 2 of 5
IronPill 8/10/2011 5:53:00 PM

I hate this powder. I have used it off and on for years. I used it for a long time in my teens / early twenties because I wasn't very into trying different kinds of makeup back then and it was all I knew that wouldn't break me out (I used to break out a lot back then). My skin looks flaky and chalky when I use this. Truly, it makes my skin look horrible. I won't be buying this again. I use ivory in other drugstore products with all the ivories in cover girl just look wrong (either too pale, too pink, too yellow, etc).

Liquid -Almay - Nearly Naked LIQUID foundation
rated 4 of 5
IronPill 8/10/2011 5:39:00 PM

Ok I only put this on a few hours ago, but I'm loving it! I don't typically wear foundations, normally just concealer or a homemade tinted moisturizer by mixing concealer with moisturizer. I bought this to mainly make a tinted moisturizer, however, I wanted to see how this performed so I'm wearing it as a straight-up foundation right now. My skin is fair with freckles and I have a lightly ruddy complexion. I wanted something that would even the ruddiness but would let my freckles shine through at the same time (why girls want to erase theirs away? I have no idea). I don't really have acne in general (but I am prone to break outs due to the wrong products or oily stuff), so I can't comment on how it performs with that kind of skin issue. It did cover the blackheads on my nose and the large pores on my cheeks well. But, this didn't cover my small broken capillary, my small surgical scar, or my under eye circles, but that's ok - that's what concealer is for. Besides those three imperfections, my skin overall is ok and I prefer to use concealer on those things than to have heavy coverage all over my whole face. I'm prone to oiliness and this isn't feeling oily at all (I'm prone to dryness, too, during the winter - I have sensitive skin). It feels rather nice and light, in fact. Not dry, not oily. I did lightly set it with Rimmel's Stay Matte translucent powder, so that could be affecting it (I recommend this powder, by the way). I have cool undertones and I bought Ivory. In the bottle it is lighter than my face but it turned out to be a very good match. I did rub it into my jawline and onto my chest before buying, this was the only shade in the line that didn't look too dark or orange on me. There you have it. I recommend this for people who want a natural, sheer coverage. I'm only giving it 4 instead of 5 because I have yet to use it for more than a day, but this is my initial reaction to it. If it turns out to be crap I will come back and edit my review.

Shampoo -Garnier - Long and Strong Shampoo
rated 1 of 5
IronPill 6/4/2011 5:26:00 PM

I'm reviewing for the Length and Strength, as they don't carry it as Long and Strong any longer. At first this was ok, it made my hair feel nice. But after two weeks of usage, I have pimples all over my scalp, which I never get, and my hair feels like it has a greasy buildup even though I use a clarifying shampoo twice a week. The culprit may be all the dimethicone in it (it's at the top of the ingredients list). I have fine hair that gets oily easily. I have used moisturizing shampoos on my scalp before and never broke out or felt ultra greasy (I get a dry scalp during the winter). I purchased this shampoo as my hair is long and suffering heat damage, was feeling dry, and the matching conditioner is pretty great (although that doesn't have dimethicone in it...go figure). I will not repurchase; in fact I'm returning it for a refund.

Treatments -Ion - Repair Solutions Hair Reconstructor
rated 5 of 5
IronPill 3/16/2011 3:57:00 PM

This stuff made my hair feel amazing. I used this once last year and hated it, my hair felt hard and sticky and weird. But then I found out you have to condition after protein treatments! That was something I hadn't done the last time. So I tried it again this week, and I'm loving it! I have very fine hair, bra length hair (uncolored) that is heat damaged (I used to blow dry every other day but I recently cut down). I shampooed, towel dried, and worked a third of the small packet all over my whole head, with extra focus on the ends. After letting it sit, I rinsed, and thickly applied my regular conditioner to my whole head and rinsed after 3 minutes. My hair felt so amazing. The next day I washed and conditioned like I normally would, and my hair still felt so great, it felt stronger and it was much more manageable and smooth. Also, this has keratin in it. My hair hates soy protein or wheat protein (dries it out and tangles it, so I avoid shampoos/conditioners with this in it) so if your hair is the same, give this a try. I will definitely buy again. When I run out of the small packet, I'm buying the bottle.

Shampoo -Dove - Energize Grapefruit and Lemongrass Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
IronPill 10/12/2010 9:54:00 PM

I have been using this shampoo and conditioner for two weeks, plenty enough time for me to tell if I'll continue using a product or not. I really like this one. I have long, fine, oily, non-colored hair. I wanted something simple, something that will clean my roots well and make my hair feel light and clean. I normally use shampoos with volumizing and body building ingredients, but have recently found these to be too heavy. (I've decided if I need body-building ingredients, I will seek them solely in products like mousse and sprays instead). I also had a dandruff issue which has gone away after starting this shampoo, and my scalp no longer itches. I can air dry my hair now and it will still look and feel pretty good. The conditioner is definitely not conditioning enough for someone with dry hair, but works well for someone like me who needs a basic, light conditioner (if you have very damaged ends, you will need something else or to cut off the damage. I opt for cutting it off, that's always the best option IMO). My hair does get dry in the winter, so I will be deep conditioning with packs I pick up at Sally's Beauty Supply while continuing to use this duo. And I went with this s/c combo because of one other thing - no dimethicone ingredients! My hair gets so flat and staticy from s/c with this, it hates them.

Shampoo -Pantene - Nature Fusion Smooth Vitality
rated 5 of 5
IronPill 5/28/2010 11:20:00 PM

I have never liked a Pantene product, the brand just never did well with my hair. However, I love this shampoo and conditioner. I have fine hair that's oily yet gets dry and damaged easily (too much blow drying). My usual shampoo is BiolageVolumatherapie for over two years now, but it's just too heavy for the summer months; I've been looking for a clear shampoo for my oily hair that wouldn't dry it out but left it feeling clean. I tried a sample of Nature Fusion on a whim, and have been using it on and off for a month and a half now and I was surprised to find that I really like it. It also has a great smell. Unlike other Pantene shampoos, it doesn't make my scalp itch, and I don't lose a lot of hair after using it. Also, with my fine hair a major issue is build up, I hate that plastic-coated feeling almost all drugstore products give your hair. I don't have that issue with this shampoo and conditioner, but then again I only condition the ends (I deep condition my whole head every two weeks, so that most likely makes a difference).

Mascara -Rimmel - Glam'eyes lash flirt
rated 1 of 5
IronPill 3/9/2010 11:43:00 PM

I've been using the regular Glam Eyes in the black/pink tube for a couple of years now, and about a year ago I though I'd give this a shot because I loved the other one so much. Lash Flirt give me it did not. First, it was too gooey and sticky, and it was hard to get onto my lashes without getting clumpy and nasty (and that's using a lash comb). After just a few hours, I'd have mascara goo clumps in the inner corners of my eyes - I'd never had that happen before with any other mascara, it was gross. Needless to say, after a week or two, I threw it away and went back to the original Glam Eyes.

Mascara -Rimmel - Glam Eyes
rated 5 of 5
IronPill 3/9/2010 11:28:00 PM

I love, love, love this mascara. I started using it in 2008 and with the exception of trying Rimmel Glam Eyes Lash Flirt (hated it, too gooey and made clumps in the corners of my eyes), it's the only mascara I've used since then. A lot of mascara wands are too flimsy and thin, but not this one. I have long lashes, but they lack volume and are a light color. I love how this mascara makes them thicken up without making them so clumpy. Also, I wear contact lenses and have never had issues with irritation.

Conditioner -Clairol - Herbal Essences Hydralicious Featherweight conditioner
rated 4 of 5
IronPill 3/9/2010 11:22:00 PM

I've been using this and the matching shampoo for the last two or so weeks. While I'm not a fan of the shampoo, I am of this conditioner. It has been perfect for my dry, fine hair, as it's moisturizing and protecting without weighing it down (something I have a difficult time with since a lot of moisturizing products are too heavy for my hair). While I don't imagine I'll be using it for too much longer (as the weather is warming up, and I don't need a daily conditioner during the humid spring/summer months), I'll keep using it until then and save whatever I haven't used.
