Lotions/ Creams -Nubian Heritage - Indian Hemp & Haitian Vetiver Lotion
rated 5 of 5
HIYELLOW 8/29/2012 6:27:00 PM

This review is for the Indian Hemp & Haitian Vetiver Shea butter. I do not have the lotion but I will comment on the fragrance and texture of the shea. I was getting bored with the usual shea butter concoction I usually use and saw Nubian Heritage. I have not read a poor review about them yet and they have so many options. I love vetiver so I decided to try. The fragrance is so delicate and fresh. It is delicious! It is slightly sweet but not cloying. It lingers and make me wonder what that wonderful scent is. It contains shea butter, hemp seed oil, coconut oil, neem oil (can't smell it at all), vitamin e, and fragrance. The texture of the shea is awesome. It is pure and melts at room temp. I put it in the fridge and it solidified but liquified 30 seconds after it was in my hand. It soaks in and does not leave a greasy feeling. My skin feels fabulous. I love coconut oil which this contains, but the shea butter melts faster than the coconut oil and does not leave any little pieces. I don't mind rubbing this on my neck or chest or near underarms because it has no harsh chemicals and is certified organic! I will never go back to Bath and Body Works lotions or creams after using this. My skin drinks this up and looks so soft and smooth!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Club Eye Shadow
rated 4 of 5
HIYELLOW 8/28/2012 7:57:00 PM

Club is a multi-faceted color. It looks brown, green, blue and purple. in the pan. I purchased it because I love Mac pigment in blue brown, but could not find it anywhere. When I first swiped this on I was disappointed because it just looked dark without any excitement and I had to use my imagination to see the different colors. Then one day I inadvertently swiped it over black eyeliner and magic happened. All the duochrome and flash and glam appeared on my eyelid. When I move in and out of different light the greens turn to blue and blue turns to purple, etc. There is fallout so I would use with a wet brush or over a black base...eyeliner or paint.

Mascara -MAC - Studio Fix Lash
rated 3 of 5
HIYELLOW 5/9/2012 8:20:00 PM

I AM VERY PLEASED!!! I began wearing mascara just four years ago, well into my thirties, and not every day. I purchased some MAC mascara and didn't think anything of it. Then I thought I'd found the holy grail when I found Maybelline Colossal until.....I noticed flakes around my eyes and clumps. I then understood why ladies are so particular. I purchased MAC Studio Fix in Studio Brown from my CCO and I have not experienced one flake!! The color is great for me because my lashes are already dark and thick. But this brush and formula are interesting because it is wetter than anything I've tried, but it separates so well. I brush my lashes inward and I notice lashes I haven't seen before. They look gorgeous and long. I have only had it for a month and no dry out yet. EDIT: It is flaking. I will not repurchase.

Blush -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish in Warmed
rated 3 of 5
HIYELLOW 5/9/2012 3:51:00 PM

I have owned this product for 4 years. I used it off and on the first couple years and then put it away. I tried it on today with a pale lip and bronze eyes and was pleasantly surprised. When I looked in the mirror my cheeks appeared to be glowing. It was that ethereal look that is not shimmery, glittery, or greasy; just glowing. I realize that this applied to the upper cheekbones and hollows of the cheek looks gorgeous. It's bronze, orange, and copper colored in the pan which is huge by the way. I am an NC 25-30 GGG.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Illusionary Burning Ambition mineral duo
rated 4 of 5
HIYELLOW 3/6/2012 11:51:00 PM

Gorgeous color duo. The brown side is shimmery and looks gold/brown/bronze on the lid. It flashes all of these colors and looks shimmery but not super frosty. The vanilla side goes on so shimmery and gold. It looks fabulous over the brown side. For a bit more interest I add a rust/ orange color in the crease. This will work in a more conservative setting or for going to dinner. It flashes different colors and is so interesting. Glad I found it at my local CCO.

Lip Gloss -Mary Kay - Cream & Sugar Lipgloss
rated 5 of 5
HIYELLOW 11/22/2011 10:31:00 AM

This is a classic, timeless lip gloss. My sister sold MK in the 90's so she gave me a tube. Since I was not as artistic with my makeup as I am now :-) I would line my lips lightly with brown liner and then use ML Cream and Sugar. It was gorgeous. Cream and Sugar looks like cream with strands of gold in it. It is not frosty and it's not super, patent leather high shine. It is a classy, shimmery pearl. People always asked me what color lipstick it was. I ran out of this gloss for a couple years and moved on to MAC's plethora of colors but could never find any gloss that I could wear alone like Cream and Sugar or something that made my lips look better but did not look greasy. So I purchased a tube and am as happy as I was in the 90's. I don't line my lips in brown anymore, but I use a lighter liner or I swipe Cream and Sugar over my bronze and brown lipsticks. It's gorgeous.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Sweet & Punchy
rated 5 of 5
HIYELLOW 11/22/2011 10:21:00 AM

WOW. I lucked up on the reviews for Sweet and Punchy and was intrigued by the high rating and the different combinations ladies described. I just purchased on Ebay and I am in love. This is a veluxe pearl so it is shimmery but smooth with little fallout. The color is fabulous. It is a yellowy-green, chartreuse that is naturally bright in the pan and on my yellow/light brown NC 25-35 skin, but it is so flattering to my brown eyes. I know people like it as a summer color, but I am always looking for a gold that I can use to liven up a dark eye so I use Mont Black or Black Tied then I swiped Sweet and Punch over it. It is gorgeous. It looks bronze but the chartreuse glistens and makes the black shimmer more as if there are hidden golden nuggets in there somewhere.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Plumage - Matte e/s
rated 3 of 5
HIYELLOW 11/21/2011 12:10:00 PM

Plumage is a gorgeous, dark teal in the pan, but goes on looking just slightly lighter than black. On my light brown lids it appears dark grey and the teal is very faint. It's ok for the outer V and a smokey eye. I don't use it much, but I love MAC because if you are creative and mix and match you never know what jewel you will create. I was bored and swiped on Plumage. It looked dull and boring so I swiped MAC Goldmine over the top. The 2 mixed together became the most regal, elegant, shimmering emerald green shadow I've seen. So now Plumage will not just sit idly in the pan and I will soon have to purchase another container of Goldmine.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Neo Sci-Fi Time & Space
rated 4 of 5
HIYELLOW 11/20/2011 11:49:00 PM

I am shocked! I purchased this along with the other Neo SciFi colors two years ago. I really have enjoyed Femme Fi (which by the way is truly "all that") but have not really touched the others, except Expensive Pink. The other day I was playing and swiped this on. It is a gorgeous gold! Who knew? I love golds and have been playing a lot with UD Half Baked and MAC Goldmine as well as Indianwood Paint Pot and some colors from my Coastal Scents palettes. As the previous reviewer mentioned Woodwinked, this color is better, more subtle and requires less work with no fallout only a pure sheen and shimmer. It's a super smooth most excellent formula! NC 25-35 for reference.

Eye Shadow -Mally Beauty - Mally Beauty City Chick Smokey Eye Kit - Brownstone
rated 3 of 5
HIYELLOW 11/20/2011 11:06:00 AM

This review is for the single shadow called Brownstone. It is Gorgeous! I wear mostly MAC and Urban Decay but I purchased the Eye Kit in Skyscraper (gray) and got this as a sample. It looks reddish brown in the container but swipes on a shimmery, brownish burgundy with a hint of red. The formula is smooth and there is no fallout once I tap my brush. No glitter, just slightshimmer. This color is gorgeous on golden goddesses and I imagine it would be beautiful on any lovely lady. This color reminds me of Mac Bronze mixed with Glamour Check. The primer Mally includes is decent. I prefer primer potion though.

Polishes -NARS - Desperado
rated 5 of 5
HIYELLOW 11/15/2011 10:51:00 PM

GORGEOUS polish. This is my first NARS polish. I probably wouldn't have thought to purchase polish from NARS but I saw a review on line and a swatch and I knew I had to have it. The color is very similar to MAC Shag which is my favorite lipstick. Desperado is a golden bronze. The bottle is a nice, ergonomic, square shape. One coat makes a gorgeous color with metallic sheen and the consistency is smooth. I got this from a great seller on Ebay.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Deep Truth
rated 5 of 5
HIYELLOW 11/13/2011 12:31:00 PM

Deep Truth is the truth. It is a gorgeous, dark blue with sheen and hints of duochrome. I am a yellow-toned GGG NC 25-35. I never really cared for blue eyeshadow until I saw Awilda use this. I tried to use it in a jewel-tone eye like she did. Then I smudged it in my lower lash line as a liner and discovered its true beauty. I used to really like Blooz eyeliner but it's very dark so the blue doesn't show as much as Deep Truth. It is also a Kohl and runs. But Deep Truth makes my brown eyes sparkle and looks so gorgeous and interesting on the lower lash line. Edit: I recently mixed this with red and dark grey and it makes the most gorgeous purple I've seen.

Lipstick -MAC - Lipstick in Siss
rated 5 of 5
HIYELLOW 11/12/2011 11:06:00 PM

LOVE SISS!!! I am a GGG yellow toned, NC 25-35 with pink/brown lips. Siss is PERFECT for neutralizing that pink and almost matches my skin. Siss is yellow/beige/tan with absolutely NO orange, pink, or peach which is why I love it. It is creamy and just a tad dry. Jubilee, Honeyflower, and FreckleTone are three of my favorites but each of those tends toward peach or pink. Siss does not. It has no sparkle and no glitter. I can mix Siss with other lipsticks to tone them down or make them look more creamy. I suggest using Stripdown liner, Siss, and Spring Bean lipgloss!!! The green and honey wetness of the Spring Bean suits Siss perfectly. They look luscious together. luscious! Also if you like Fetish or O, try patting the lips with Siss, THEN apply Fetish or O. It takes the frost out of them and makes them look more creamy with sparkles. It's truly gorgeous. Siss makes O look less dark and less dated for my personal taste. It is difficult imagining this color being good on its own for a pale or darker woman. But I think by changing the liner and using a 2nd lipstick or gloss suited to your skin tone, Siss could be a nice addition. I will repurchase repeatedly.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Beauty Marked
rated 1 of 5
HIYELLOW 11/7/2011 11:58:00 AM

This black with burgundy/gold sparkle eyeshadow is deceptive in the pan as many have written. It looks like it might come out burgundy but really comes out black/red with slight burgundy shade which is barely noticeable. I wore it twice in 2 years because it is dirty looking and not a pure black. I have been experimenting and realized it is useful. (1) Use a black base and swipe BM over it with a wet brush. The black brings out the sparkles and it's quite gorgeous. (2) Use a pink color on the inner third of the lid like Exp. Pink or even Jest, then a bright pink or purple in the middle, the BM on the outer third. It's quite beautiful. (3) BM also looks lover underneath Stars N' Rockets, which turns a gorgeous purple. Layering BM over Groundwork didn't look so hot to me, but I don't care much for Groundwork anyway. I can't imagine who would need BM. I just purchased MAC mineral shadow in Smoked Ruby and it has the red and black veining with the sheen. It is what I think most people would like BM to be.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Vapor Eyeshadow
rated 3 of 5
HIYELLOW 11/6/2011 12:54:00 PM

Nice shimmery silver/blue/white on my GGG, NC 25-30 skin tone. I watched someone put this in her tear duct and that's why I purchased it. It makes my eyes appear brighter and more awake. It is kind of mysterious looking and also makes a great highlighter. I really love using this all the way up to the brow. I tried it after seeing an comedienne I like looking very flossy and glamourous with sparkly light-colored shadow up to the brow. I tried it and Vapor is really shimmery and not overdone and surprisingly not too silvery or white. Good for a night out. I had MAC's white eyeliner pencil but this shadow is so much smoother for the tear duct and highlighting. The pigment is excellent and there is no yellowing of this color.
