Lip Gloss -Lancome - Juicy tubes in Spring fling
rated 4 of 5
GacktCamui 10/10/2007 2:02:00 AM

This is a nice gloss, but overpriced. I received this as a gift, but as a connoisseur of fine make up, I knew how much it retailed for.

Spring Fling is a light, incredibly sheer pink. When applied, it looks like clear gloss with just a hint of pink. It's a flat gloss and not shimmery or glittery. The texture is smooth, moisturizing, and not incredibly sticky.

Something I dislike about the packaging is that lint will accumulate around the cap. Also, because of the construction, there will be gloss overflow if you accidentally squeeze too much. But this is to be expected of squeeze-tube glosses, so I am not deducting for this.
These smell and taste great, by the way!

Lipstick -MAC - Pink Cabana
rated 4 of 5
GacktCamui 10/10/2007 1:57:00 AM

Frosty, Barbie-pink with green shimmer. It's not overwhelmingly frosty, but it is a bit on the cooler side. Pink Cabana is quite pigmented and I don't find it drying at all. Although it looks like a simple color, it is actually very unique, and for this reason, I would buy it again.

Eyeliner -Unlisted Brand - MAD Minerals Indelible Waterproof Gel Eyeliner in Black Cherry
rated 5 of 5
GacktCamui 10/10/2007 1:33:00 AM

This color is absolutely incredible. You know how MAC's Beauty Marked eyeshadow looks in the pan? It's like that but in a nice, dark liner. It's glittery in a slightly chunky way, like aforementioned shadow, but not irritatingly so. The dark reddish glitter looks great against the black base.

For the price, it's a bit expensive - it's much smaller than a MAC fluidline or a Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner. I got it at MAD Minerals on sale, but otherwise, it costs about as much as a MAC fluidline.

Staying power is comparable to a fluidline. Would repurchase, but it's LE!

Hair Styling Tools -Farouk CHI - Chi Ceramic Flat Iron by Farouk
rated 5 of 5
GacktCamui 9/15/2007 2:02:00 AM

Alright, aside from it looking a bit "cheap," this has been an awesome flat iron. My first flat iron purchase was a Solia, and it was decent. It would do it's job - straighten my hair. But, it didn't do that great of a job at straightening my hair. Some flyaways, a little bit of frizz would come back. So after about 3 years, I've been jonesing for a new flat iron and I've read the 5457824 reviews on folica, perused the hair board, heard the underground whispers and praise, and decided that I must have a Chi. I finally ended up getting the LE pink Chi (breast cancer awareness version) from Cosmetics Magic. Yes, I had expected the iron to look a bit more expensive. After all, this iron cost me more than $100 dollars. I tested it as soon as I got it and was stunned by just how smooth it left my hair. It blew my Solia out of the water, out of the race, and nearly out of my life. The thing is, it gets really hot, really really hot. And I don't know if this is normal, but after a while, it starts to emanate a burnt smell. It's not coming from my hair, but from the iron itself. I'm just praying that nothing's wrong with my iron because this has been a godsend.

Eyeliner -Clinique - Egyptian Gel Liner
rated 4 of 5
GacktCamui 9/15/2007 1:52:00 AM

Love. Gorgeous, complex color. It's a bit brown, a bit khaki, a bit gold... It seems to go on a bit sheer, but I don't mind. I actually do like the tiny brush it comes with, because the bristles are stiff and flat, I can get a really neat, thin line. Fades a little during the course of the day, even over UDPP, but not an issue. I would, however, like to test against the creamshaper for comparison.

Eye Shadow -Becca - Powder eyeshadow in Boucle
rated 1 of 5
GacktCamui 9/15/2007 1:47:00 AM

Well, the packaging is absolutely gorgeous, but the eyeshadow itself leaves lots to be desired. The color is pretty - a soft, shimmery, honey bronze. But then I started applying and it was so very, very sheer. It was almost like I had absolutely nothing on. And that wasn't so bad, I mean I see Becca products aiming towards that natural look. But then the day wore on and the eyeshadow disappeared. I have oily eyelids, but I always prep with UDPP and it still disappeared. I was sad, so sad! Should've read the review before I purchased. Fortunately, I got this during the clearance at Sephora, so it didn't leave a big dent in my wallet.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Fertile
rated 4 of 5
GacktCamui 9/15/2007 1:42:00 AM

Mmm, dark, smoky, and sultry. This gives a great black-purple (not bruised purple) smoky eye. It's got some slight shimmer to it and it's very sooty. A great eyeshadow from MAC! Too bad it's LE.

Lip Gloss -Chanel - Sesame Glossimer [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
GacktCamui 9/15/2007 1:39:00 AM

Oohh, I do love Glossimers. Very nice and moisturizing. It looks like a pale Pepto-Bismol pink, but a sheer pink-nude when applied. Helps cancel out the pigmentation I have in my lips. It's also very creamy - I can't quite describe the texture, because it seems unlike many other glosses. It's kind of more...dense? Not as liquidy as other glosses.

Fragrances -Stella McCartney - Stella Eau de Parfum Roll-On
rated 5 of 5
GacktCamui 9/15/2007 1:22:00 AM

The scent is amazing, the roll-on is cheap, and so very convenient and precise! What more can I ask for? It doesn't give me a headache and sits between the spectrum of light and heavy florals. The scent also lasts! Love love love this.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Pigment in Green Brown
rated 4 of 5
GacktCamui 5/29/2007 1:08:00 AM

I bought this without sampling. First time I tried it, I had Acid Orange on my lids already. When I put on green brown, it turned orange. Like a rusty orange. I didn't like it, even though I knew Acid Orange may have contributed to the nasty color. I put the jar away for weeks. I broke it out again this weekend and tried it again, just by itself. WOW, the color is so gorgeous! It's brown, a bit coppery, with flashes of green. Very pretty and I think this can be even used for a neutral eye. Nice, very nice! I am pleased.

Lipstick -MAC - Orchidazzle ls Strange Hybrid LE
rated 5 of 5
GacktCamui 5/29/2007 1:01:00 AM

I'm sooo tempted to get a back up of this! Orchidazzle is a very unique color - bright bluish purple with crazy sparkles. But it is a lustre formula and when applied, it's a sheer shimmery lilac. It's something you don't see very often and at the same time, usable.

Makeup Brushes -Everyday Minerals - Premium Kabuki Brush [DISCONTINUED]
rated 1 of 5
GacktCamui 5/16/2007 9:43:00 PM

Ugh, this brush is awful and a huge disappointment. It started off decently enough - soft, but didn't ever stop shedding. Then after I washed it once, the bristles became so brittle and coarse! It was even worse than my Bare Minerals flawless face brush! Sheds all over my face and clothes and so rough to the touch. :(

Lipstick -MAC - Lustre in High Tea
rated 5 of 5
GacktCamui 5/5/2007 3:24:00 AM

High Tea is a lustre, which means a really nice glossiness. This color is a beige-ish peach color, with lots of shimmer. It looks a bit frosty, but I love the way it looks once applied. A good neutral lipstick that will match any look, imo.

Eye Shadow -Paula Dorf - Eye Color Glimmer in Prisim
rated 4 of 5
GacktCamui 5/5/2007 3:21:00 AM

This is a pretty lilac color. In the pan, it looks glittery, but when applied, it goes on sheerer. The glitter doesn't really stay either. I can't say this eyeshadow is that smooth or pigmented. It is a bit chalky, imo. I got this on sale at Pure Beauty for about $10, so for this price, it is worth it. I would not pay more than that.

Fragrances -Juicy Couture - Fragrance
rated 2 of 5
GacktCamui 5/5/2007 3:17:00 AM

I know fragrances are very subjective and it's all about how well it works with body chemistry. I'm not good to picking out the notes and describing every waft. However, I do know what smells good on me and what doesn't. When I first smelled Juicy out of the bottle, I thought it smelled nice. I bought it without sampling it first. When I finally tried it on, it started to smell artificial and slightly sour on me. The lasting power is great, though, because I just want to scrub myself off this fragrance throughout the day. The packaging is cute - comes with a little charm. Uh, now that I think about it, that's what justified the slightly expensive price-tag for me.
