Loose Powders -Coty - Airspun face powder
FranP 2/14/2005 1:29:00 PM
I bought this after reading all the rave reviews here on MUA. I took the advice of many of you and poked several holes in the plastic covering to make a sifter for the product. I actually loved the smell and the coverage and the packaging (poking holes in plastic covering to make a sifter was easy)and the box is pretty. I also must add that you get A LOT of product for your buck!! Okay the one and only major downfall to this product and the reason I did not like it and brought it back to WalMart... I have very oily skin, and while several reviews said it was good at keeping shine and oiles at bay, this made my face even more oily and it did not have very good lasting power because of that. I got to reading the ingredients and it has mineral oil and lanolin in it. I guess this works good for some oily skinned gals, but not for me! By the way I bought the Translucent extra coverage.

Eye Shadow -New York Color - Sparkle Eye Dust - Pink Champagne
FranP 1/17/2005 4:24:00 AM
After reading the reviews on this product here on MUA, I decided to give it a try, I was in search of a good loose eyeshadow, as I have tired of the regular pan eyeshadows. This one is good. If you want a heavier application of eyeshadow you may have to dip the brush into the slot and shake then apply then do this about 4 -5 more times. The pigment is good. If you apply a jumbo shimmer eyeshadow pencil on your eyelid (just a little bit, not too much now!) then this over the top of it, you can get a very dramatic look. ( I used a white pearl one). I really liked this alot you can use a little for an understated look or more for a dramatic look, it is up to you. I will probably try some other colors since this one is soo nice.

Mascara -Jane - Hi-Fiber Waterproof in "Basic Black"
FranP 1/17/2005 4:00:00 AM
I bought this mascara after throwing out a Maybelline Mascara that had a primer with it. This one was about $2 cheaper and a hell of a lot better. This is a good mascara it has little "hair" looking things in it which I guess is suppose to be the fibers. It goes on very smoothly and definetly builds lashes up. No racoon eyes! It does not come off till I wash it off. Since it is waterproof, the best way to get it off is with a warm washcloth. Great mascara for the price. Wish they had it in a brownish black though.

Powder -Cover Girl - Fresh complexion oil control makeup (powder foundation)
FranP 1/11/2005 4:45:00 AM
After not having success with the Jane stay calm foundation and Revlon Colorstay, I decided to try this. I got it in buff beige this is the one of the shades that was recommended to me when I went to Covergirls website. This shade is a tad to dark for me. I guess it would be okay for summer, but not now I live in WA state and it is dark and rainy here during the winter with hardly any sun. Anyway for a powder foundation and this being the first one I have ever tried this is good. It gives okay coverage, if you have any blemishes it covers well at first and then after a few hours the blemish starts to show. I dont think this is HG material for me. I am always trying new stuff and throwing away the stuff I give bad reviews to. This is good for now till I find something better.

Mascara -Maybelline - XXL volume+length microfiber mascara
FranP 1/11/2005 4:25:00 AM
I must say this is the worst mascara I have every used! The texture of both the primer and mascara is terrible. I get spider eye lashes when I use it and then it starts to crumble off my eyelashes, the crumbles end up in my eyes ( ouch! this irritates them badly!) I always tend to check my makeup when I go to the ladies room and literally after two hours I see specks of this mascara around my eye area. I got this marcara and an eyeliner for about 6.00 at Walmart, it was one of those packaged deals. The eyeliner was crap as well. Save your money dont buy this. I will throwing mine in the garbage!

Liquid -Jane - Stay Calm Foundation [DISCONTINUED]
FranP 1/5/2005 2:43:00 AM
After reading the rave reviews on this product, I decided to give it a try...I bought it in naturally, but it did not match my skin color it was way too white..I think the next shade Dream Cream would have been too dark though. This foundation did go on smoothly, probably due to the high amount of talc in it. It did not keep the oilies away for me, did not really cover any blemishes either. In fact I got several new pimples just using this for two days. I would say this is not a product for someone with very oily skin and blemishes as it will do nothing for you and will probably make your face break out more. It is very inexpensive, but if you have skin like mine save your money and try something else!

Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - Coconut Lime Verbena Body Splash
FranP 12/31/2004 1:52:00 AM
I found this scent at Walmart in their store brand name of bath and body products. (Body Basics) they call it coconut twist. I began looking for it other places and discovered B&B had it. I love this fragrance! I love coconut and citrus scents and with them combined in this fragrance it is perfect. My husband bought the Coconut Lime Verbena creamy body wash, body lotion and 2 of the body sprays for me for Christmas. I really love it! I will wear it year round, but will probably like it even more in the spring/summer time.

Pressed Powders -Jane - Oil Free Finishing Powder
FranP 12/30/2004 4:19:00 AM
Please read my review on Revlon Colorstay foundation. Well since I had spent $10 on this foundation, I decided to keep it and try another pressed powder over the top( instead of the Colorstay pressed powder which I did throw away!) to see if it would make a difference. I read all of the reviews on the Jane Oil Free Finishing Powder and decided to give it a try. I must say this is an EXCELLENT finishing powder. I put it on around 3:30pm today and it lasted till I went to bed at 1:30am! It did very well at keeping away oil, I only had to blot once and only a little bit at that on my nose and cheeks. This is a miracle for me, cause I have very, very oily skin. I reapplied a little after blotting and was good to go for the rest of the night. Thank you to everyone who posted reviews on this finishing powder, I would not have boughten this otherwise. I did not mind the square puff inside it, I found that it was actually really handy for getting good coverage and a flawless finish. All I can say is GREAT PRODUCT,GREAT PRICE. This is a definete keeper! ( I bought the Colorless shade by the way)

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup
FranP 12/23/2004 7:01:00 PM
This product did not work at all for me. When I would first put it on it was okay, I DID NOT have a problem with blending. My problem with this product is that I have very oily skin and this just like all liquid foundations I have tried, did not last and contributed to me having a very shiny face. I will be giving the bottle I have away, and not ever buying this again. I am still on the search for a good foundation for my very oily skin. If any one can help me that would be great. I do not buy department store brands, I am always on a budget, when it comes to cosmetics.*EDIT* This is not that bad afterall if you use the Jane Oil Free pressed powder in Colorless over the top..Read my review on that. I read lots of great reviews on the pressed powder and decided to give it a try. It made a big difference about how I feel about the Colorstay foundation.

Liquid -Maybelline - Ever Fresh Makeup [DISCONTINUED]
FranP 10/23/2004 2:25:00 PM
Well after reading the reviews listed on this product, even though a lot of them were not good, I decided to try it for myself. BIG MISTAKE! I have very oily skin and after a few hours my face looked like the biggest oil slick. The place I bought it from has a 24hr return policy with a reciept for make-up, so I am stuck with it. I will finish using it I guess or for as long as I can take the oily mess on my face. I have heard a lot of great things about Revlon Color Stay, I will try this next. To sum it all up if you have real oily skin do not buy Maybelline Everfresh, also it has no staying power what so ever!

Concealers -Maybelline - Shine Free Blemish Control Concealor
FranP 8/24/2004 4:37:00 AM
I really, really like this concealer for my very oily skin. I got the natural beige and it blends right in. The only thing I need now is a light but good foundation for oily skin that is budge-proof and lasts all day. Needs to be reasonable too. My search will continue for the foundation, but with this concealer I am sold!
