Misc Beauty Tools -Revlon - Cushion-Grip Lash Curler
Extacey 9/9/2009 4:50:00 PM
I like this better than my old NYC curler, but this tends to pinch a lot. I feel like the curls are actually more of a rounded straightness, not an actual curl. I probably would not but this again, and will get rid of it once I can get around to buying a new curler.
Lip Gloss -Neutrogena - Moisture Shine Gloss in Whisper
Extacey 9/9/2009 4:37:00 PM
This can give you a moisturized nude lip if you apply it and rub it in with your fingers, but it is impossible to get an even coat unless you do this. It is a bit too frosty. However, I love how moisturizing and how good it looks when I rub it in. This has a nasty smell though, that lasts the first few minutes of wearing.
I hate to be a party pooper, maybe the other colors work better. However, I have this in Buttercreme, and I feel while these are very soft, the colors in this quad are not all that pigmented. It takes a lot of going over the same area to get it to show. When they do show up, they look pretty decent, so three lippies, as it didn't do anything horrible to my lids.
Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Expert Wear Eye Trio in Chocolate Mousse

This is great for a natural contour. I too wish there was a bit more pigmentation at times, but I think that if the colors were any stronger, they'd lose the subtle effect. I always use a primer, and so far, this has not creased on me after a day of wearing with no touch-ups.
Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Carbon Black Lineur Intense Felt Tip Liquid Eyeliner
Extacey 8/21/2009 8:07:00 PM
Loving this! I have this with the brush applicator in the regular black and love it too. Same forumla, easier applicator. This one is easy to maneuver and practically mistake-proof. The formula wears all day with no smudging, fading, or creasing, and I am having a blast with it so far. This makes it easy to start a thin line that gets thicker as it extends from the inner corner. The only thing you should be aware of, applying too much or a thick coating will cause it to crack after it dries, because of the finish.
Gah, I wanted the lineur intense, bought this by accident. Don't let the similar packaging fool you! This has a terrible applicator, small and slanted, but so difficult to maneuver. The carbon black isn't even that intense. The formula is also a bit watery, as well. I have found ways to work with this, it is not completely horrible. Pay close attention to what angle you hold the applicator at so you know where the slant is. I will give this two lippies instead of one. It didn't smudge, though it did fade a bit after about three hours.
Sunscreen -Neutrogena - Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 30
Extacey 8/13/2009 11:03:00 PM
I was out in the sun for a few hours, got a slight tan without burning, as I was hoping. The rest of my family were all greasy and smelled of sunblock, but I was shine-free and smelled like my perfume. No sunblock scent overpowering my lotion and perfume fragrances. I used it on my face too. The bottle says it is noncomedogenic, so I was eager to at least try it on my face, and it worked just as well, protecting my face from the burn, with no major oiliness problems. I was sick of having to settle for certain moisturizers just to get SPF from them. I would literally not wear sunscreen because I hated the film it would cast over your skin, until now! My one complaint is the packaging. The twist-off cap is annoying, and at some point, though there is some product left, it is hard to squeeze out. These tubes are so small you will run out quickly. I doubt I will find anything better than this, so I definitely rely on it.
I think this was too weak for me, as I switched to the Neutrogena Deep Clean. I used this in seventh grade because my dad bought it for me. Honestly, I don't think it did too great at preventing acne. I often had a few zits, though not as much as some of the other kids in my grade at the time. As I got older, my acne got a little worse so I had to switch. If you have oily skin and want a good cleanser, try Neugtrogena Deep Clean.
I love this mascara a lot. It holds curls, didn't flake on me, and did not smudge off. The lengthening is AMAZING. Does nothing for volume, but it doesn't claim to. I go for length over volume any day, and this is by far the best lengthening mascara I've used! I'm a packaging whore, and this has a cute container, like a little heel. Edit: Watch out when applying I must mention. After using this for weeks, I have been running across a problem with it becoming boogery. By this, I mean it creates little booger balls in between your lashes. This can be helped with a lash comb, however. Using a lash comb will also get rid of any clumping. While combing the lashes will create flakes, you can just brush them off and it won't be a problem.
I bought this and also use the refill pads from the Neutrogena Wave with it. The external device for this is very similar. The replacement velcro tops are the same size, so you can by Neutrogena or Clean & Clear refills and still get a replacement velcro top, which the cleanser pad attaches to. This one is a bit stronger than the Wave, though. I hate the fact that you need to turn the bottom (some sort of dial, for lack of a better word). Neutrogena Wave has a button, but this is hard to turn on with wet hands. No biggie, but it may bother some. As for the actual cleanser. These pads are a little harsh and scratchy. The blackhead medication works on small, minor blackheads, but really deep-set blackheads probably won't be affected by this. This is so irritatingly scratchy on my skin, that it isn't worth it.
This is a real scrub, not a little gimmicky scrub, this is great. It helps me get the dead skin off my face, helps blackheads, and leaves my skin feeling refreshed and soft. Do not go scrubbing like crazy on your face when using this. This is strong enough to exfoliate your skin without mangling your poor skin. I have no complaints, this is the best scrub I've ever used.
Toners -Neutrogena - Clear Pore Oil-Controlling Astringent
Extacey 8/4/2009 1:27:00 AM
I've been using this for YEARS. Switched once, and went back. This is good at picking up whatever my face wash left behind. It may sting your face if you have bad acne, but it does clear it up. However, it can be irritating on some. It used to irritate my skin back in 7th grade, but ultimately helped clear my acne. I feel that this toner is what kept me from getting horrible acne in middle school. I don't see myself ever switching to something else as long as this is around. I love it, and it has always worked. Beware if you plan to take this with you somewhere. The cap is somehow very leaky. I won't remove a lippie for that, however. This product is very good.
These fat-tubed extreme/volume/length mascaras just don't seem to work for me. This was very goopy and clumpy for me. I saw a bit of lengthening, but I couldn't get past the clumping, it' seemed unavoidable. I have somewhat long lashes already, but I do like to enhance them. Unfortunately, this was not the product for me. The funny thing is, back when I had this, I gave it to a friend (unhygienic, I know), and it looked really amazing on her. Her lashes were long and thick. Some mascaras really do work case-by-case.
Strangely enough, this was the first mascara I ever used, a poor choice for beginners. This wasn't as dramatic as I'd hoped in terms of length and volume, but it did make somewhat of a difference. This tended to give me raccoon eyes by the end of the day, though. Plus, it flakes a bit. The flakes didn't bother me as much as all of the smearing though. If you're the kind of person that likes to add mascara to their lower lashes, I recommend using a different one. The brush on this is impossible to maneuver on lower lashes, plus, it will just rub off onto your skin as the day goes by. I just wanted to like this, but I couldn't bring myself to.
Cleansers -Neutrogena - Deep Clean Facial Cleanser
Extacey 8/4/2009 1:15:00 AM
I had lost my acne medication for awhile and was breaking out a lot. I switched from Clearasil Ultra to this and I am loving the result. Back when I was using different face cleansers, whenever I didn't take my acne medication, my skin would act up again, and start breaking out. With this, however, I lost my medication again, and it cleared up the breakouts I got as a result of not taking the acne meds, stopped me from getting new breakouts, and seems to be slowly working on blackheads. Since using this, my skin has been looking a lot better, and I no longer have problems with oily skin. If this leaves your skin feeling a bit tight, however, you may need a good moisturizer, or this could be too harsh for you. This works wonders for me, though. I would consider going off my acne medication if this continues to work, as this gives me great skin without the drowsy side effects my medication used to give.
