Cleansers -Weleda - Almond Cleansing Lotion
rated 3 of 5

Well to start off, I love Weleda. The quality of their products is great and I feel like I'm making a sustainable choice for myself and the environment -just not my wallet. This little bottle ran me $16 and will last three weeks tops. Folks, that's a LOT of money. I love what it does, how clean and soft it makes my skin feel, and how yummy and soothing it is. I use oil (usually coconut, jojoba, or sweet almond) to take my makeup off and blot with a tissue. I then use a dab of this on a cotton ball (maybe the size of a blueberry) to get the excess oil and anything else off. It really works, I see blackheads and gunk in it every time that I'm sure never came out with my old soap and water routine. At the end, I use a cotton ball with Bragg's and water to tone and smooth my face. I love this product and it works well for my super sensitive skin, but it is just so pricey. I don't know what to do :(

Lip Treatments -Weleda - Everon lip balm

I am OBSESSED with this lip balm. Definitely HG status. And most Weleda products -I swear they don't pay me, I just love love love them. Anyway, Everon Lip Balm is a godsend for me, truly. I love using natural products, especially for my lips because you end up swallowing most of it anyway! Unfortunately, I have a very sensitive nose, and lots of these products are too heavily scented and make me nauseous. I had to throw my old carmex away (the pot got contaminated by a gross lip infection :( :( :( :( ). I picked up a tube of this by chance after reading the ingredients in the alternatives. I really really love the scent and consistency of this product. It is very thick and buttery, has fantastic staying powder and a VERY light, feminine, vanilla-rose scent. I will certainly be repurchasing. *ETA* GAH. This is hard to find in the US. And my tube is almost out. What's a girl to do?

Moisturizers -Weleda - Everon Cold Cream
rated 5 of 5
ECLion 8/2/2012 10:47:00 AM

Oh how I LOVE this cream. I was looking for something very rich and gentle. I have very sensitive, easily irritated, red, dry skin. Not a fantastic combination. I use this just at night and a pea-sized drop is perfect for my whole face. Very strongly rose-scented, but that dissipates quickly. I hope they never stop making this.

Shampoo -Head and Shoulders - Classic Clean Shampoo
rated 3 of 5
ECLion 7/2/2012 9:37:00 AM

Ugh, not a huge fan, but I don't have a ton of reasons to really hate it. The pros are that it's cheap, doesn't strip my hair and that it smells nice and neutral. The bottle is super annoying and wayyy too much floods out when I pour. It cleans my hair, but it doesn't make my scalp feel as fresh as other shampoos. I might repurchase this if I can't find anything better, but I don't love it. *ETA* After awhile, this did nothing for me. It made my scalp itchy and my hair all matted and gross, no matter how many times I washed.

Shampoo -Burt's Bees - Burts Bees Baby Bee No Tear Shampoo and Wash
rated 3 of 5
ECLion 7/2/2012 9:34:00 AM

I bought this for me to use for travel -since it is an all-in-one that's gentle and sulfate-free. My grandmother kept a bottle on hand for my baby cousin, and I used it a couple times at her house in a pinch so I knew I liked it. Well, I guess they changed formulas. This one is very strongly scented (I am extremely sensitive to scents) and strips my hair. It lathers nicely, though, and the scent goes when you rinse. I will probably just use the bottle up as body wash.

Skincare - Body -Burt's Bees - Baby Bee Dusting Powder Drum
rated 5 of 5

My go-to baby powder. A little grainier than the regular, but for the light scent and natural-ness, that and the price don't matter.

Lip Treatments -Carmex - LipBalm
rated 5 of 5
ECLion 7/1/2012 5:40:00 AM

This was the first lip balm I ever used. It was a staple in my house since the time I was a little girl. It works miracles (as far as I'm concerned) on SOS-chapped lips (Including those awful corner-of-the-mouth tears I get in very dry weather) as well as minor blemishes. I put it on at night and wake up with full, soft, beautiful lips. The cooling, soothing sensation is very pleasant. I am very sensitive to icky scents, but this is soothing and medicinal, not gross and floral. I only wish it were more natural and for that reason I keep a jar of this only for emergencies. For everyday, I stick to my natural lip balm.

Top/Base Coats -Essie - All in One Base
rated 3 of 5
ECLion 7/1/2012 4:59:00 AM

Just meh, and for the price, that's not ok. I purchased this to wear just as a clear polish. I don't like the look of my hands with nail polish, but a clear base keeps them looking neat and healthy. I found this base too sticky and tacky to work with easily, and it didn't dry very quickly. I am fairly new to the world of nail polish, but I have experienced stuff that dries much more quickly.

Hair Removal -Unlisted Brand - Homemade Sugar Wax
rated 4 of 5
ECLion 7/1/2012 4:56:00 AM

I've used sugar waxing on my arms and bikini area. It is incredibly time consuming (loses a lippie for that) but may take less time with more practice. It is incredibly effective, very simple, and yields results time and again.

Hair -Unlisted Brand - Coconut Oil
rated 4 of 5
ECLion 7/1/2012 3:35:00 AM

I swim regularly (five days a week) and the chlorine has really taken a toll on my hair. It was starting to feel dry and brittle, very unusual for my generally healthy locks. I used coconut oil as a winter moisturizer, and had some left over that I was unlikely to cook with (been sitting in my makeup bag with my fingers in it -nothanks). Anyway, I rubbed LOTS of it through my hair and scalp, especially on the ends. I let it sit for an hour or so, and then shampooed twice with head and shoulders classic. I woke up this morning with soft, healthy hair. Would consider repeating once a week or as needed.

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Original SPF 15 Foundation
rated 2 of 5
ECLion 6/30/2012 5:11:00 PM

This product just did not live up to the claims. It was initially pretty great, but then began irritating my skin and did not cover any of my redness (which is not super-severe!). The only thing I did like was the fact that it matched my skin color almost perfectly! I really wanted a natural product, but I am back to hypoallergenic drugstore makeup. :( Another gripe, about the packaging -it is IMPOSSIBLE to get the last little bit of the makeup out of the container. For a product this expensive, that's not acceptable.

Loose Powders -Bare Escentuals - Mineral Veil
rated 2 of 5
ECLion 6/30/2012 5:07:00 PM

I believe whole-heartedly in natural products. Ever since I was a young teen! After realizing my foundation was filled with junk, I decided to look for a more natural product, and friends (and the intertoobz) recommended this one, and the accompanying foundation. I'd always used liquid foundations, since my skin is on the oilier side. I really should have stuck with the less natural options. I could NOT, for the life of me, figure out why I was breaking out! The foundation and powder left my skin pretty irritated (or maybe that was just the brushes, which I regularly deep-cleaned!). It also looked cakey and blah. Great concept, poor execution, now back to chemical-filled fragrance free/oil free/noncomedogenic drugstore makeup. *sigh*

Lotions/ Creams -Weleda - Calendula Baby Lotion
rated 3 of 5
ECLion 6/30/2012 4:51:00 AM

My review really sounds like I'm bashing the product, but I'm really not! The issues I have with it are based entirely on personal preference and use, and don't have much to do with the quality of the product. I'm very picky about scents, and Calendula is not one I can do often. I purchased this lotion to soothe an awful, awful sunburn and to moisturize my legs after I shave. I tested a little at the store, and found the scent unpleasant, but it disappears after a few minutes. The product does work well-very oily though, takes awhile to soak in. It leaves my skin smooth, hydrated, and with a pretty sheen to it. The scent makes application really not fun, and waiting until it dissipates is annoying. For this reason, I will not be repurchasing.

Gels/Soaps -Weleda - Citrus Creamy Body Wash
rated 5 of 5
ECLion 6/30/2012 4:46:00 AM

I bough both this and the Sea Buckthorn body washes at the same time (in travel size). The scents are both dreamy, not cloyingly candy sweet at all, just light and refreshing. I use it just on my face, due to the expense! I love love love this, and just a pea-sized amount works for my whole face/neck/behind my ears. Leaves me feeling smooth and soft. I like the sea buckthorn scent better, so I will probably not buy this again. Just personal preference, though, I love them both!
