I bought this because of all the rave reviews but unfortunately it seems I am in the minority again. On my nc 20-25 skin it just doesn't show unless I really go to town with it and then it doesn't give me the dusky pink I was hoping for. I recently went back in store and they tried one of the new blushes from the Marilyn Monroe collection which had a peach tinge to it. As I have red cheeks I tend to steer clear of peach but it actually looked quite lovely so that will be my next stop in my search for a blush that I can wear all the time. Unfortunately for me but lucky for them, my daughters are ecstatic as pink cult has made its way into their stage make up for dance shows and dress ups. Lucky girls!
Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Color Tattoo 24hr Cream Gel Shadow

I believe I am in the minority here as I just do not like the texture of these cream eye shadows. Even when warming them up and applying them with my fingers it feels like I am smearing paste on my eyelids. It definately lives up to its claim of stickability as I cannot remove it without using oil. Also the blend ability is near non exist ant if you hesitate for a fraction too long as it sets and won't budge without doing some serious damage to the skin. The colours are lovely so I'm using them on my daughters as dress up make up and they love it.
I have been waiting and waiting for OPI polishes to go on sale since the release of the Skyfall collection and finally with 25% off, I've got it! I agree with the poster below that it needs three thin layers to achieve opacity, especially at the base of the nail but the formula is so quick drying that I will forgive it. It's absolutely beautiful in both daylight and artificial light throwing a silvery teal with multicoloured micro glitter in gold and blue. Can't wait now to get a few more from this collection but this is most certainly my favourite.
I was impatiently waiting for this new bb cream to be released and snapped it up the moment it arrived in stores in NZ. Firstly pros: yes it is a far better offering than their first Bb cream which was a disaster. The cream itself reminds me of channel's vitalumiere aqua, very runny but does give amazing coverage. When it first came out it looked like a fabulous colour match to my light neutral to yellow toned skin. It was easy to apply with both brushes or fingers and could be layered for more coverage. The finish is also fantastic and very natural. I need to use a moisturizer under it as I have very dry skin and if I put this on bare skin you can see every patch but that's no worries, its not marketed for dry skin. The con and only reason I will not buy again is it oxidises within five minutes to an off orange colour. Sigh. The hunt continues.
I really like this mascara, it is my staple while I flirt with other which promise much but deliver little. I cannot afford anything higher than drug store mascaras so though I dream of the day I could discuss the merits of Guerlain mascaras, today is not that day. I have long lashes which are lighter on the tips and do not need curlers to make curl with this mascara. One coat looks natural, two or more make them lush, fat and false almost. The brown is great for the daytime while black is great for night time looks. I knocked one lippy off as the brush is so large it does tend to transfer some mascara to the eyelids but if you allow it to dry you can easily remove it with a dry cotton bud. I don't like waterproof mascaras as they are a pain in the rear to remove so the non waterproof version suits me and in a budget friendly manner. I will most definitely continue to purchase.
Liquid -Bobbi Brown - Long Wear Even Finish Foundation Spf 15

Not good for me unfortunately. All I want in life is a Med to full coverage, natural finish, transfer resistant, moisturising, not showing up flakes foundation...not much really. This sadly wasn't it. It is very light in coverage unless you layer and layer it. It has a very shiny, not dewy finish and the colour match that the ma gave me was also close but no cigar. It still transferred when blowing my nose and yet was a little tricky to fully remove at the end of the day. For such a high price, I had high expectations.
Everyone has said it already, noir this is not. At first on my skin, it is a clash of mademoiselle and chance. Then as it dries down, it turns to a light mademoiselle baby powder. With a black bottle I was expecting a big hitter like Black Orchid. Sadly this fragrance works for neither my skin nor nose.
Just simply awful. I was hoping for beautiful waves of glossy brunette hair cascading down my back after shelling out NZ $50 on the shampoo and conditioner. It was not to be. Even after following the instructions explicitly and trialing them desperately, the shampoo burns my scalp turning it into a big mess of itch and the conditioner somehow manages to make the roots of my hair drier with a mass of flyaways and the end are a horrible greasy mess. Also I found my hair starting to break off. I was completely horrified. Never again.
Cleansers -Olay - Regenerist Daily Regenerating Cleanser

This was a bust for me. It felt like a watered down version of the regenerist daily microdermabrasion scrub. It did not remove makeup and left an odd film on my skin. I'm rushing back to my Garnier three in one face wash. I have such a hard time being faithful. :-)
There was just something off about this foundation on my skin. None of the colours looked right, they are more beige than yellow based and my dry skin after two days was getting drier. I've found love by mixing together equal parts of photo ready with the Revlon primer. Satin finish, very close colour match. The only gripe is it transfers and I'm a nose blower due to allergies. I have yet to met a non transferable foundation to date though that looks good on my super dry, sensitive, red cheeked skin.
Loose Powders -E.L.F. - Studio High Definition Powder
Donnz 7/26/2012 7:15:00 PM
Amazing rating but this powder is not living up to its hype for my skin. I have incredibly dry yet shiny, redness prone, sensitive skin. This powder only had two pros and many cons for me. Pros: cheap and helps blur fine lines around the eyes temporarily. Cons: Bulky packaging and yes I did only punch out a few holes with a needle - stuff still goes everywhere. My skin itches with this on it for a good few hours. It doesn't remove shine for me, looks good in daylight but shine city in flash photography. My skin feels tighter but not in a good way. Despite only using a small amount and buffing and blending until the cows came home, I still got a slight ghost look in flash photos. I will only use this to set my eye concealer so this product should last me til the end of my days and no I will most certainly not be repurchasing.
Definately a try before you buy fragrance. On my skin this is a very grown up fruity oriental. Black fruits indeed reign supreme with a masculine base of vetiver, which I love. I agree with the pp that this is most certainly unisex and you can make it even more delicious by mixing it with Tobacco Vanille. It reminds me of Mauboussin without the Smokey note. Black Orchid is going to remain a winter favourite for me.
A very sweet, smooth juice. On my skin it opens with tooth achingly sweet honey, not vanilla and a ghost of comforting pipe tobacco - it is not an overwhelming smoke like mauboussin, but smooth and in the background. Tobacco Vanille is extremely well blended and quite linear in that it doesn't change too much from beginning to end. The honey note on my skin is transforming slowly into a sweet, warm vanilla but the honey is still there none the less. Will I buy a bottle - no. Will I continue to buy the small decants - yes. I'm going to try this tonight on my dh as its supposed to be unisex, however I feel it might be a little too sweet on a man, similar to Givenchy Pi with the overwhelming vanilla note that has in it. I will report back!
A fantastic multi purpose product. As I just replied to some using the OCM with disastrous results, this product showed me how terrible the method was for my skin. I have sensitive, pimple prone on a nose and chin, dry skin. Go figure. This beauty removes all makeup, doesn't sting hour eyes, calms down reddened skin, helps reduce pimples and leaves my skin clean, extraordinarily smooth and only a fraction tight. I use it twice daily if I feel the need and still no irritation. A make up artist who was trailing a foundation on me even commented on how smooth my skin was. This product will now always feature in my shower and hopefully I can encourage my husband to use it because its Fab! So long homemade oatmeal, cocoa powder scrubs and OCM!
Lotions/ Creams -Nivea - Happy Sensation w/Bamboo Extract & Orange Blossom Scent
Donnz 3/17/2012 7:59:00 PM
This is a great summertime lotion for those with mildly dry skin. I personally really like the smell and find it lingers pleasantly on my skin for a good few hours in the background. Not moisturising enough for winter but I will repurchase during the summer months. Doesn't leave a floury or sticky feel on your skin, dries quickly and doesn't contain mineral oil, which I'm allergic to. Is very reasonably priced and easily obtainable.
