Hair -Kerastase - Masquintense - Fine Hair
Diva99 9/30/2010 5:07:00 PM
I purchased this deep conditioner after being advised by my hair stylist that this would work well with my hair type. I've also heard that this is one of the best on the market. My verdict? I think it's a great product, but it performs no miracles. Though I will probably repurchase, I have used deep conditioners for half the price that deliver the same effects. One added plus with this product is that it doesn't leave a lot of build-up like some other deep conditioners out there. It does leave my hair soft and shiny, but still slightly dry on the ends (however my hair is super dry and colour treated so I would expect it would work out very well on normal hair). I think this product deserves 4 lippies because it leaves my hair in better condition (and easier to style) after I blow dry it than it would be without using Masquintense - for these reasons, I definitely recommend this product!

Lip Treatments -Smith's Rosebud Salve - Smith's Rosebud Salve
Diva99 9/26/2010 12:28:00 PM
I purchased the tube version of this product and this has become my HG lip moisturizer - better than Vaseline, Nivea, Burt's Bees, Carmex, Blistex, Neutrogena...the list goes on and on of all the chap sticks I have tried! It is a perfect base for lip gloss or lip stick and softens and moisturizes my lips so they are no longer chapped. While other lip balms or chap sticks lose their effectiveness after awhile, Smith's Rosebud Salve keeps my lips consistently moisturized. I've tried almost everything and really recommend this if you're suffering from chapped lips and have been looking for a solution. UPDATE: In my experience, the effects don't last with this product past the first tube. By the time I started my second, it lost its effectiveness entirely and the dryness/chapped areas came back. I have switched to RoC's Enydrial lip balm, which is FAR superior. You can read my review on that as well :)

Shampoo -A/G - Xtramoist Moisturizing Shampoo
Diva99 9/24/2010 10:34:00 PM
This is my HG moisturizing shampoo, it adds the perfect amount of moisture without weighing down my fine, highlighted hair. I alternate it with a protein and clarifying shampoo as well, but it always delivers a good hair day! I've also started trying out some new moisturizing shampoos to see if I'm missing out on anything better, but so far this is one of the best.

Shampoo -L'Oreal - EverPure Moisture Shampoo
Diva99 9/24/2010 10:24:00 PM
I usually don't use drugstore shampoos, but there was so much hype about this one that I decided to see if sulfate-free is all it is cracked up to be. Unfortunately, it left my hair "fuzzy" looking and only slightly moisturized. I had to really load up on the shine spray and finishing creme to tame my layers that came out looking rather dry. Other hydrating shampoos I have used tame the frizzies more effectively, but this one didn't have any exceptional hydrating effects. It's not terrible and I'll probably still use it once in awhile, but for a shampoo that advertises itself as moisturizing, it is a disappointment.

Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Mascara
Diva99 9/16/2010 1:27:00 PM
This is a beauty staple for me - I am surprised this product has received such low MUA reviews! The trick to this product is how you use it. Hardly any brand of mascara can be used alone to create volume, length, AND extreme lift/curl. To achieve all three, you have to combine a few different mascara formulas and this is where Great Lash comes in. I wear this over top of a volumizing mascara like L'Oreal Voluminous or Lash Blast -Great Lash adds wonderful length and thickness to my lashes when applied this way. I have to admit, if you wear this mascara by itself, it isn't anything special but at least give it a chance and try layering it over another mascara!

Moisturizers -Neutrogena - Combination Skin Moisture Oil Free
Diva99 9/16/2010 1:13:00 PM
I bought this moisturizer as an alternative to my Dove Sensitive Essentials Day Lotion, which was becoming too moisturizing/oily for my t-zone. I decided to buy the Neutrogena lotion for combination skin to compare. It provides considerably lighter moisture for the t-zone area which I like, but I took a few lippies off because when I apply it to my cheeks (which are drier than the rest of my face) after cleansing, it doesn't feel moisturizing enough. The search continues...

Hair -Unlisted Brand - Euronext Clip-in Hair Extensions
Diva99 9/12/2010 1:18:00 PM
I have the Remy Euronext 14 inch hair extensions in "blonde frost" - the extensions match my hair colour perfectly! I usually curl my extensions to match my natural hair texture and I always receive lots of compliments on my hair when I wear them! I have fine, shoulder length hair naturally and should mention that I had the extensions trimmed by a hairstylist (about an inch off the bottom) to blend in better. Overall, these are a wonderful way to add some glamour to your usual look!

Concealers -Maybelline - Cover Stick
Diva99 9/12/2010 12:57:00 PM
This product was a disappointment - I applied it using a concealer brush (and even tried with my finger too to see if that made a difference) on the occasional blemish, but this product cakes onto the skin and ends up accentuating the spot you're trying to cover up. The coverage is also too sheer. If you want a good concealer, try Maybelline's Instant Age Rewind Double Face Perfector which is MUCH more effective at covering up blemishes and applies like a dream.

Mascara -Christian Dior - Diorshow Extase Flash Plumping Mascara
Diva99 8/8/2010 6:45:00 PM
In my opinion, Diorshow Extase is much better than the original "Diorshow" mascara, which I also have. The Extase mascara wand deposits the perfect amount of volume and length and works nicely for day or night. I like Diorshow but think Extase gives a much more dramatic, sassy look! Definitely recommended.

Treatments -Redken - Extreme Anti Snap OLD FORMULA see 143469 for new [REFORMULATED]
Diva99 6/20/2010 4:59:00 PM
This is a great product for dry, fine hair - I use this whenever I blow-dry my hair straight and it makes my damaged ends look and feel softer. I apply it after having applied my leave-in conditioner and straightening lotion and that seems to work the best. Definitely recommend if you need some extra TLC for your hair!

Styling Products -Unlisted Brand - Marc Anthony- Simply Straight Lotion
Diva99 6/20/2010 4:48:00 PM
This product is a fantastic straightener! Used with a blowdryer, it straightens my naturally wavy hair and leaves my hair frizz-free! It is an excellent product for the price (about $10 Cdn). I only wish it would also leave my hair as shiny as it looks when I have my hair professionally blown out, but despite that it leaves my hair sleek and soft!

Styling Products -Pantene - Volumizing Hairspray
Diva99 6/20/2010 4:42:00 PM
I use this whenever I blow dry and straighten my wavy hair to banish flyaways and to set my style. Though it doesn't add much volume, it also won't flatten your style either. This is a good hairspray for the price but I may shop around next time for a better "volumizing" hairspray.

Liquid -Almay - Clear Complexion Blemish Healing Makeup
Diva99 6/19/2010 4:38:00 PM
I've been wearing this foundation for several years now and it is an excellent, medium coverage foundation that doesn't cause break-outs. I use pressed powder along with this foundation because it isn't entirely matte. Most of my friends can't even tell I'm wearing foundation with this on, so that is always the ultimate compliment! The colour selection is also great and the product lasts a couple months. For nighttime, I switch to Revlon Colourstay, but Almay is the perfect option for a natural, day-time look!

Eyeliner -Quo - automatic eyeliner
Diva99 6/19/2010 4:25:00 PM
I wear this eyeliner by itself in the daytime and if I'm going out somewhere in the evening, I layer it over kohl eyeliner for extra impact. It is a little hard to remove (so a good makeup remover is a must) but despite that, it never smudges or flakes. This is not a great product for lower lids because it isn't as soft as a kohl liner (I use Annabelle eyeliner for lining the lower lids) but for lining the upper lash line it works wonders and can be applied in a thin or thick line for different looks. I strongly recommend this!

Shampoo -Oscar Blandi - Pronto Dry Shampoo
Diva99 6/19/2010 4:16:00 PM
I am very impressed with this dry shampoo! It does the trick and takes away oil to make my hair look freshly washed (and with a nice lemony scent that isn't too overpowering!) It also rejuvenates volume and is especially good to use before putting my hair up in a ponytail. But I find if I apply this to 2nd day hair (or if you want to go an additional extra day or two without shampooing) it won't "re-style" the hair in any way but it does the job of making it clean again and non-greasy. I would give it 5 lippies if it did miracles to make my hair nice enough to wear down on the 2nd or 3rd day, but since it doesn't create the effect of a good blowout, I'll still give it a well-deserved 4 lippies for adding volume and doing the job of allowing me to go an extra day without shampooing when I choose to.
