Concealers -BeneFit Cosmetics - Erase paste
rated 3 of 5
Dinahout 4/23/2009 4:30:00 AM

I am shocked at how much I like this product! Shade #2 works surprisingly well on my golden-medium complexion! It is soft, moist, and creamy and makes the dark circles under my eyes just disappear! A little does go a long way. I use a taklon concealor brush only on the spots that I need it. I avoid getting too close to my bottom lash line area, because it will tend to cause smearing of my eye make up. Pretty good job for this scary-lookin', bright apricoty cream thing! UPDATE: I'm not sure what is the cause exactly, but I think Erase Paste is a bit too emolient for anywhere on my face, except for the dark areas under my eyes. I have broken out with some painful cystic acne blemishes where I used it, especially under and around my nose and jawline.

Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - Coralista
rated 5 of 5
Dinahout 4/15/2009 7:35:00 PM

This was my first attempt with a coral pink blush. Coralista is so pretty and gives healthy color to my cheeks. I would wear this every day! I don't mind the packaging - it fits the Benefit style, but I don't use the square brush that it came with.

I caved and bought this because of all the rave reviews. This brush set lives up to its hype! I travel fairly often so I always look at the portability. They'll work out great on a trip!

Highlighters -BeneFit Cosmetics - High Beam
rated 3 of 5
Dinahout 4/11/2009 9:26:00 PM

Since I'm on a Benefit kick right now, I decided give in and purchase a bottle of High Beam. The look was great when I tested it. I used it to highlight my brow bones and cheek bones to wake up my complexion a bit without wearing any makeup. Unfortunately, I got a few small zit-like bumps on my brow bones and cheek bones - wherever I applied the product. My skin is normally clear and if I do get a blemish or zit, they don't show up in those places. This is going back. :(

I love this warm brown shimmery color! It's perfect! I use a synthetic bristle e/s brush and it's goes on smoothly, evenly and blends very nicely. Yep, it is creaseless too! I can't wait to get more colors!

Powder -BeneFit Cosmetics - Hello Flawless!
rated 3 of 5
Dinahout 4/11/2009 6:19:00 PM

I ordered online and was not really sure about the color at first. I cross-checked different websites to look at the colors, read reviews and board comments, and kind of did it by elimination according to reviewers comparisons. "Honey" ends up to be a decent color match for me; I normally wear BE Golden Medium and MK 302 (during the summer). It's super smooth and fine; makes my skin look smooth, matte and silky, but my freckles still show through. As a test, I used the brush on one side of my face for light coverage and the sponge on the other side. The sponge application covered my dark under eye area and also toned down the redness around my nose. I also had a red blemish which it covered up easily. I like the compact which holds the brush and sponge in the bottom compartment but it's hard to lift if you don't have fingernails. UPDATE (3/13/2010): This is definitely not a product to wear if you are going to be in photos! Hello Casper! I hardly reach for this unless I'm going to run out of the house and don't care about my makeup. Does not justify the price and I won't purchase it again.

Eye Shadow -Revlon - Colorstay 12-Hour eyeshadow quad- Copper Spice
rated 5 of 5
Dinahout 4/7/2009 6:18:00 PM

I am pretty happy that I listened to the positive reviews on this quad! I got it BOGO and it was definitely something that I can use if I'm in a hurry or just want a polished, classic look. Others have described the shades so I won't get into that. Colors are well-coordinated. It lasted me 11 hours today and still looked fresh when I got home! I used an e/s primer and gel liner. I would purchase Copper Spice again.

Makeup Brushes -Chanel - KABUKI Travel Brush #8
rated 2 of 5
Dinahout 4/6/2009 8:33:00 AM

I just "re-found" my Chanel #8 kabuki brush after "losing it" in a move 2 years ago. Wow. I'm so dissapointed in it after using it again. After washing and drying, I applied my mineral foundation and got more shedding than expected and it was so scratchy. When I bought it 6 years ago, I thought it was the best brush ever... but I think that was comparing it to the BE brushes that I had been using with my BE mineral foundation. It's still really cute and the Chanel logo is nice, but to use... I have other much better brushes.

Styling Products -Matrix - Sleek.Look Iron Smoother
rated 1 of 5
Dinahout 4/4/2009 5:49:00 PM

I was talked into purchasing this to protect my hair from a flat iron (a new tool for me) by the stylist who cut my hair. I don't have damaged hair, nor have I ever needed something like this, so I can't compare it to anything else. It does make my hair quite straw-like and the scent it very strong. I suppose it does what it says it's supposed to do, but whenever I use it and sleep with the product in my hair, I wake up with zits on my head. I know, that's gross. And painful. I don't use it on a regular basis, but I noticed the zit head trend. I'm tossing it so I don't use it accidentally.

Cleansers -Philosophy - Purity Made Simple (Real Purity Cleanser)
rated 2 of 5
Dinahout 4/4/2009 10:05:00 AM

I first got a sample of Purity and I'm all for one-step cleansers to save me time. The sample worked out great, so I ordered a 16 oz. bottle. I used it for over a month and noticed that I was getting some pimples on my forehead and cheeks, and my skin seemed drier than usual - felt a bit dehydrated. I went back to my MK Timewise 3-in-1 Cleanser and my face healed up and got soft again. Although I like the idea and the herbally smell of Purity, I don't think it's a good cleanser for my face. I use it to clean my makeup brushes now.

Blush -Laura Geller - Blush n Brighten Como / Portofino
rated 5 of 5
Dinahout 4/4/2009 9:05:00 AM

This Blush-n-Brighten combo was part of the "Eye Dream of Italy" kit and was the first Laura Geller item I tried out. Absolutely love the warm, shimmery pinky peach Como blush and the shimmery champagne Portofino highlighter. Not overly pigmented, so you have a bit more control over the amount of color you apply. They are both in the same baked pan, but I wish there was more highlighter instead of just a "slice" of the pie. I like the compact cover: half clear, half mirror design. Cute, fun, fresh!

Makeup Brushes -Laura Geller - Retractable Baked Powder Brush
rated 1 of 5
Dinahout 4/4/2009 8:47:00 AM

This synthetic, retractable Baked Powder Brush came in the "Eye Dream of Italy" kit. Eh. The bristles are way too soft for application of the Balance-n-Brighten - it didn't pick up anything. I could use it as a travel blush brush because I like retractability. If I were to lose it somewhere in the middle of the Pacific, I wouldn't care.

Makeup Brushes -Coastal Scents - Synthetic Wide Buffer Brush
rated 5 of 5
Dinahout 4/4/2009 8:38:00 AM

I just love this synthetic buffer brush! Saw it on pursebuzz and checked out coastalscents.com for the first time. Extremely smooth and soft, very durable, no shedding at all. Affordable price, good investment. Highly recommended for mineral foundations to get a heavier coverage because of its flat top. It came in a sheer, nylon pouch, but I will put it in a case to travel with. LOVE it!

Powder -Laura Geller - Balance-n-Brighten
rated 2 of 5
Dinahout 4/4/2009 8:30:00 AM

I was wanting to try Balance-n-Brighten for the longest time and finally did as part of the "Eye Dream of Italy" kit from QVC. I like that is in the form of a compact, so I was hoping that I could travel with it. I normally wear BE Golden Medium, and the B-n-B was just too dark, ashy and pink on me - very dull and lifeless looking. Too bad. The color is just not a good match for me as a foundation, but I could use it as a light setting powder. You really have to work to get a fuller coverage with it too - not as good as BE's coverage and buildability.
