Mascara -Chanel - Inimitable Mascara Multi-Dimensionnel
CrisAlex 10/10/2010 11:08:00 AM
I have to admit that I initially wanted to hate this mascara since I spent so much money on it and didn't get the overly dramatic look that I have been used to for so many years. But you know what? For me it is so worth it - as a mascara, it does what it should do, which is to lengthen, curl and thicken but not to the point that it makes it obvious that I'm wearing mascara. As a 30-something woman, over the top looks are actually aging, so I needed to look for something more age and work-appropriate. I'm not sure how to explain it, but on me it looks like I have naturally long, thick, and curly lashes - nothing like the long and thick mess that other mascaras do (I,m looking at you clumpy mascaras, Estee Lauder Magnascopic and Lancome Hypnose). If you want the dramatic fake drag queen look, then this may not be the mascara for you, but if you want to look like you have been blessed with naturally long and thick lashes then get this.

This is garbage! While it does moisturize, it caused lots of white bumps around my eyes. Hate it hate it hate it.

Lip Gloss -Chanel - Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss - Emoi (58)
CrisAlex 9/24/2010 9:20:00 AM
This is a great lipgloss that isn't too thick or goopy or even funky smelling. I'm not sure what it smells like, but it's a faint but pleasant smell. Emoi is a reddish berry colour that isn't over the top. If you are looking towards the reds but are afraid of going for a bold red and instead would like to try a softer colour, I really suggest you try this one out. The packaging is really sleek too - it's a shiny black tube.

Blush -MAC - Mineralize Blush - Dainty
CrisAlex 9/18/2010 6:34:00 PM
So pretty! I got this in the Mischief and Mirth set that came with the Light Flush MSF and the 181 SE kabuki brush. I admit that I bought this set just for the brush and I had this blush hidden away for some time. This is my first pinky-peachy blush - I tend to wear peach or bronzes and I was initially hesitant to try this because I thought that it would make me look like a clown. Not at all! On my NC40 skintone it looked like a pretty and feminine flush. Combined with the MSF from the set, my cheeks look divine:)

Tinted Moisturizer -Lancome - Bienfait Multi-Vital Teinte SPF 30
CrisAlex 9/15/2010 6:59:00 PM
So, I wanted to get away from regular foundations last summer and a Sephora SA recommended this. I like how it's lightweight while providing a fair amount of coverage but I still have to apply powder on top to avoid the oilies. It has a pleasant smell but the white packaging gets dirty easily. Not a pretty sight to see skin coloured marks all over the bottle. At 58 CDN dollars, I would have expected something better though. I will use it up just to get my money's worth but I will not be repurchasing this one.

Eye Shadow -Christian Dior - 1-colour extreme: GOLD TOUCH 546
CrisAlex 9/10/2010 9:16:00 PM
Oh, I love this gold shadow! It looks really pretty on my NC40 skin. I've had really bad luck with gold toned eyeshadows and almost did not give this a chance but I am so glad I did! I like to pair this with MAC Mulch for a daytime look that works well for work. As always with Dior shadows, this one blends beautifully and lasts all day without any creasing or fading. Even though it cost a lot - something like 32 dollars CDN, it will last me a very long time. So worth it.

Eye Shadow -NARS - Rajasthan Duo
CrisAlex 9/10/2010 9:03:00 PM
I like .... a lot. I bought Tsarine first and like it too but when I wear it with the darker colour in Rajasthan, it's like wow! So pretty for fall as a dark but not black or brown smoky eyed look. This sold out really fast at the Bay but thank goodness I was able to locate one at Holt Renfrew. This is my favourite eyeshadow set right now.

Blush -NARS - Douceur
CrisAlex 9/9/2010 10:46:00 PM
Okay so I got caught up with the hype and almost didn't buy it in favour of Sin but after putting it on today, I'm so glad that I bought it! I've been so used to using bronzer (Laguna) as blush and wanted to go with a blush that goes well with my skin tone and the pink nude lipsticks I like to wear. This is nice - not over the top and not too pink and definitely not too sparkly. I think it's pretty. I just hate the packaging, as the typical NARS packaging tends to get all ugly and dull after a while.

Lipstick -NARS - Lipstick in Dolce Vita
CrisAlex 9/5/2010 9:19:00 AM
This lipstick doesn't show all that much on me but on an everyday basis, that's what I want - a colour that is very close to my lips with a little bit of shine but not like the gloss type of shine. That being said, if you have medium-dark skin like me (NC40) and you are looking for colour payoff, then this lipstick is not for you. A similar shade with much more colour payoff for us would be MAC Creme in Your Coffee, which I also love. Dolce Vita is supermoisturizing and feels great on my lips. Although it is expensive at 30 CDN dollars, I will definitely buy again when I run out.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Lipgelee in Lust is Lush
CrisAlex 9/4/2010 5:58:00 PM
Yuck! Looks like a shiny and unnatural orange mess. I squeezed the rest down the sink and put it along with other products for a B2M lipstick, which I do happen to love. A failure from MAC that thankfully has been discontinued.

Powder -Christian Dior - Diorskin Forever Compact
CrisAlex 9/4/2010 5:48:00 PM
I bought this on the recommendation of a friend who loves makeup just as much as I do, and since it can be difficult to find the right colour for our Latina skintones, I trusted her recommendation. At Sephora though the SA matched me to 050, which was completely wrong! I loved the finish and coverage - I know another reviewer said that it doesn't cover so much but for me it really did - but I looked like my face was sunburned! I went back to Sephora the next day and they had an amazing exchange policy that allowed me to exchange for the 040 Honey Beige. Now I am so happy and really like this powder and will repurchase. But 1 lippie off because it's just really expensive at 47 CDN dollars!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Mulch eyeshadow
CrisAlex 9/3/2010 8:41:00 AM
This is a great colour for applying on the crease but also for applying lightly over the lid for a dark eyed look. I was afraid to buy it because the photos on MUA made it look reddish but when I went to look at it at the store, it actually looked like a dark bronzy chocolaty brown with the tiniest bit of red that doesn't even show up on me. So yes, I love this colour and I would repurchase.

Lipstick -MAC - Pro Longwear- Unchanging
CrisAlex 9/2/2010 12:38:00 PM
I really don't like this. I know that this comes with a gloss to counter the horrifically drying effect of this lipstick or whatever one wants to call it, but on me, there is no staying power whatsoever. Maybe it's just that it doesn't go well with my skin colour, but even if it did, the terrible and non-staying formula of this warrants the poor rating I give it. I'm going to stick to MAC's lipsticks and save a few dollars there too, as this cost 25 dollars CDN. What a waste of money!

Lip Gloss -Origins - Liquid Lip Color-Juicy Details
CrisAlex 9/2/2010 12:35:00 PM
A very wearable and pretty peachy colour that's perfect for the summer. Flatters my NC40 skintone and has a pleasant minty smell. Would I buy this again? If I didn't have my Hourglass gloss in Lush, I would, but since these two will last me quite a while, it would be a long time before going out to repurchase.

Lip Gloss -Clinique - Glosswear for lips in Kissyfit
CrisAlex 9/2/2010 12:32:00 PM
Just awful. Goes on supersheer and stinks! Better to stick to drugstore brands than to waste my money on this. Lately Clinique's quality has significantly gone down and I don't think I will be purchasing anymore of their products.
