Liquid -MAC - Matchmaster SPF 15 Foundation

I'm usually not a big fan of MAC fdtn even though it's quite popular. I decided to get a sample of this since I never buy a full bottle of any brand of foundation unless i was absolutely sure of it. At first I was a bit hesitant to buy it but since I knew I could return it just in case I changed my mind I went ahead anyway. I got the shade 6.0 as this was the best match. I have combination/oily skin but I love the finish of this. I would say that this is a light to medium coverage. I do set it with a loose powder otherwise I will get oily easily, It does last for a good 8 hrs but I do have to blot in 4 hrs. It does oxidize a little bit but as long as you start to get oily and start blotting it's fine. I use my 187 Kabuki brush and this is easy to spread on the face. I use NARS Pro Prime as my primer. It has a liquid to powder finish. I should mention that it looks fine in pictures. I did not find that it gave me a ghost face in pictures at least with an iphone. I still have to test it out with a different camera in different lighting and see but for now I will continue to use the foundation.

Liquid -Smashbox - Studio Skin 15 Hour Wear Fdt.
rated 4 of 5

I absolutely love this foundation. Even though it has SPF it looks great in any lighting as long as the color matches your skin. I don't think it last 15 hrs like what it claims but definitely 12. I use a mattifier on my tzone and a pore refiner on my cheeks. I wore this on a hot day and it doesn't melt off even if I got sweaty. I still got oily but my blotting paper took care of that. I set this with a loose powder and it really does not move until about 12 hrs after that I start to feel it on my skin. This foundation is hard to remove but no biggie since I have a Clarisonic. The only thing annoying about this is that it stains my clarisonic brush and it is hard to get the color off from it. You have to work quickly with this foundation as it sets easily on the face. The coverage is light to medium so if you have any breakouts or anything you wanna cover up this isn't the one for you. You don't need very much of the product to cover up your entire face. I would definitely buy this again and I think it's work the expensive price tag. Edit: I feel like I needed to add this review. I wore this fdtn recently at a club and i did notice in pictures that it did reflect some light. My face looked slightly lighter than in other pictures that I took in not so dark locations. It must be the spf. i still like it though and it did stay on even through sweating all night.

Eyeliner -Hourglass - Calligraphy Liquid Eyeliner
rated 4 of 5

I got this as I was testing out different pen style eyeliner. This one is pretty good. Its non irritating and easy to use. I got the cognac one and i love the color. The packaging is really pretty and definitely looks expensive. However for an eyeliner this is really pricey. I think I paid around $50 CDN for this at my Sephora, It is a great product but for an eyeliner I don't think its worth the price. The only good thing about this is I know that I will get my money's worth since I will be using all the time.

Misc Beauty Tools -Quo - Full EyeLash Adhesive
rated 1 of 5
Cayla29S 6/22/2012 10:45:00 PM

I don't even know where to begin my annoyance with this glue. I only bought this as I got allergic to the DUO that i was using before. It was impossible for me to find any latex free eyelash glue so I thought to try this. I really have no issues with the packaging because I think it's easy enough to use. The problem with this is that it comes out like you are using a glue gun. It is so sticky and applying to the lashes itself was difficult. You have to apply all at once otherwise it gets tacky. You have to apply the glue right away but the problem with this is that you can't adjust it once it sticks on to your lashes. Then you have to do a lot of pressing once it on so it sticks on the base of your lash line. The bigger annoyance is that it would not stick to the ends of your eye. So the glue would dry up and there is a big gunk just sitting there.I even tried applying more glue and it still did not work. It started lifting even before I walked out the door. Once it dries, you can feel the glue and you have to do a lot of lining just to cover the glue which is supposed to dry clear to begin with. I used this for 2 or 3 days and I just gave up on it. I don't consider myself a newbie on lashes but this was very difficult to work with. It is also hard to remove the glue gunk after using the lashes because it dries really crusty. I had to soak my lashes for a bit in a waterproof makeup remover to get the glue out. Don't waste your money on this crap.

Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - DUO eyelash adhesive

I actually love this glue. I have tried different brands and they just did not work as well as this one. It is easy to use and it dries clear. I was using this for months with no issues then about a month ago I started getting redness after i remove the lashes. At first I thought it was the eyeliner I was using then I finally figured out that it was the glue. I didn't think this was the problem as I never had allergies to latex ever in my life. I would have never thought it was the glue but after testing different eyeliner brands then I finally discovered that i developed allergies to latex. One morning I woke up and my eyes were swollen. I freaked out and I knew it was the glue. I had to stop wearing the lashes for a few days and thank god my eyes healed quickly,. I would never buy this again. It is so difficult to find latex free glue but like I said it doesn't matter if you don't have allergies to latex, you can potentially develop it. I wore false lashes 4 x a week max and this glue irritated my eyes.

Foundations -Smashbox - High Definition Healthy FX Foundation
rated 5 of 5
Cayla29S 5/3/2012 5:22:00 PM

I love this foundation. I never have issues with it breaking me out. It is perfect match for me as I have a yellow undertone. With a primer this last at least 8 hrs for me. I set it with a loose powder right after applying. This has a light coverage and I would say medium at most. If you have fairly good skin this would be perfect. It's easy to get the product out of the container because it has a pump. I never need to shake it as it comes as rathe thick. I have never experienced oxidization with my skin. This all depends on the primer you use in my opinion. I would buy this again because it has lasted me for about 4 months with about 4 times use in the week. My face looks flawless and it really does look like skin.

Primer/ Corrector -NARS - Pore Refining Primer - Oil Free
rated 4 of 5
Cayla29S 5/3/2012 5:12:00 PM

This is a really good primer if you want to smooth out your pores. I normally use this only on my cheeks and the side of my nose. If you have oily to combo then I would suggests to use a mattifying primer on your t zone. This is what I do then set the foundation with a powder and it works perfectly. It's expensive for a little packaging but you don't need a lot and its spreads out real well. I would buy this again because its feels moisturizing on my cheeks but not oily enough that it makes me look like a grease ball.

Concealers -MAC - Select Moisturecover
rated 4 of 5
Cayla29S 5/3/2012 5:02:00 PM

I actually like this concealer. It has enough coverage for my under eye darkness. Normally I have to apply moisturizer around my eyes so that the concealer look smooth but with this one I don't have to. Yes it does crease like all concealer do after sometime. I even put a primer under my eye and this helps make it stay and crease less. I find that you have to use just enough of it otherwise it settles in to lines. You definitely have to set this with a powder. I'm not a big fan of the packaging, I never use the applicator with it as I think its not very hygienic. I usually put it on a mixing palette and just use my own brush. I think this way I have more control how much I can put on. I would buy this again because its fairly cheap.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #187 Duo Fiber Face Brush (Stippling, Skunk Brush)
rated 4 of 5
Cayla29S 5/3/2012 4:55:00 PM

I actually really like this brush. It makes my foundation so much easier to apply and just look more flawless. It is expensive but I think if you take care of it then it should last for a long time. My only annoyance with this is that after washing it I notice that the black part of it sheds a little bit. It sometimes even gets on my face when applying foundation. Other than that I have no issues with it. It dries quick too which is always convenient.

Concealers -Bobbi Brown - Creamy Concealer
rated 2 of 5
Cayla29S 3/17/2012 7:21:00 PM

I got this as a sample and I'm happy that I did. I got a good color match for my skin so that was a plus. I usually put an eye primer before I put the concealer under my eyes so it does not crease. This brand in general is really thick which is nice because I only have to put very little of it to cover up dark circles. However, this is so difficult to blend after dabbing a tiny bit and then using a concealer brush. It looks awful. I even put moisturizer before I applied it so it doesn't catch on to the drier parts of my eye. For some reason, it cracks on me and it's hard to fix because it's so thick. It tends to settle on lines under the eyes as well even after putting a primer there. Blah! I would never buy this..This concealer is probably better to cover up spots in other areas in the face but not good as an under eye concealer

Lip Treatments -eos - Smooth Sphere Organic Lip Balm in Honeysuckle Honeydew
rated 3 of 5
Cayla29S 3/8/2012 6:06:00 PM

This product is ok. I wouldn't say it's my favourite lip balm. I don't think this is good for someone that has really dry lips. I do apply this before I put my lipstick on and it's just perfect because it absorbs quickly unlike other lip balm that just sits on top of your lips. Whenever I'm putting this on, I always get asked what it is because its bright green and the packaging is just unique. It's also so cheap so that's a bonus. I would buy this again for the purpose of using it before lipstick application and the smell doesn't itch my throat.

Lipstick -Marcelle - Rouge Xpression Lipstick - all
rated 5 of 5
Cayla29S 2/5/2012 9:20:00 PM

Okay so I happen to walk by this line because it was on sale at Pharma Plus and let me tell you how much I love this lipstick. I usually don't bother with the Marcelle line because most of their makeup is too light for my my NC 45 skin. This lipstick is so creamy and moisturizing. When I first applied it, it glided on so smoothly and i did not even need to put lip balm before applying it. It's super pigmented and it has a good staying power. Yes it transfers when you drink something but it leaves enough pigment on your lips that you don't need to reapply. It also doesn't make it all look chunky which is a bonus for me. I got the shade in Jezebel. This a nude lipstick for me and it's perfect. I also got the Delight Delice and it's a rose colour. It just has enough pink to it that its not super bright. What I love about this lipstick is that it doesn't have a weird smell to it. I am so buying more of this especially the red shade. There are so many shade that I think would look very nice on different skin tone. I'm kind of upset that I did not know about this lipstick before. I would say this is HG category especially for the price. Ladies, if you're canadian and you are reading this you have to pick one up.

Foundations -Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition Foundation
rated 3 of 5
Cayla29S 2/5/2012 2:37:00 PM

I just got some of this as a sample because I have been wanting to try this for a while. It is a very nice foundation. I used it with my stippling brush and I love the finish of it. However for me personally this is too much coverage. I only applied one coat all over my face and I looked too made up. I don't have any blemishes or redness and I don't normally conceal anything other than under my eye so for me this was too much. I used a primer underneath and I can honestly say that this oxidized on my skin. I have an oily t zone and I noticed that after a few hours my face looked a bit more yellow and it started to look cakey. I can see why most people like this. I feel like it left that dewy finish which I personally do not like. I would say that this a medium coverage.

Highlighters -TheBalm - Mary-Lou Manizer
rated 2 of 5
Cayla29S 2/5/2012 1:50:00 PM

I got this because I was looking for the perfect highlighter that did not have sparkles. Unfortunately this did not work out for me. This was too light for my skin. I did try it at the store when I bought it and at the time it looked fine but when I tried it on with full make up on I couldn't get it to blend with my skin tone. I'm an NC 45 and it claims to be universally flattering but I don't think so. It also made my upper cheeks look drier than usual. I know you can use it as an eye shadow but the texture for me is a bit chalky. I might play around with it since I cannot return it but for now it's been sitting in my kit since I got it.

Pressed Powders -Laura Mercier - Pressed Setting Powder - Translucent
rated 2 of 5
Cayla29S 2/1/2012 1:16:00 AM

I bought this with the suggestion of the SA at Sephora. I tried it out a couple of times and I was not impressed with it at all. I have the MAC Blot powder and that one works better than this. I hated the sponge that came with the LM because it picked up too much product so I still had to blend it with my powder brush. I have dark skin so you can see the yellow whitish tint to it. The packaging was alright kind of bulky for me. I ended up returning it since it was $40 so I was expecting it to keep me oil free for at least 6 hrs but that did not happen.
