Eye Shadow -MAC - Magnetic Fields Eye Shadow from Neo Sci-Fi Collection
BohemianSheila 6/3/2008 1:12:00 PM
I've been trying to be good and have stayed away from going to my local counter to purchase any more make-up. So, when the Neo Sci-Fi collection came up, I did research online and then asked my neighbor (who works at Nordstroms) if she could buy me 3 things. This was one of the items I selected because it seemed so unique. I am really glad that I got it because it is the dark brown that I have been looking for (NC30, with red undertones and yellow overtones - AmerAsian coloring). Most dark browns go gray on me, so I stick to warm browns like Brown Script and Beautyburst from Barbie when I want to do brown.
This color has so much dimension and looks great paired with bright colors and also worn as a smokey brown eye. I've gotten huge compliments doing both looks. Here is an example with it on with Chrome Yellow:

Lip Gloss -MAC - Lustreglass in Ornamental
BohemianSheila 5/23/2008 12:25:00 PM
I've already gone through 2 tubes of this and I don't go through make-up quickly because I have so much of it!! However, this color on my very pigmented lips and NC30, AmerAsian skintone is practically MLBB. It's a strange thing to say because it's so dark. This color doesn't read as orange or red on me. I can't even describe what it reads on me, but I just look polished and my make-up looks complete once I apply this color. This, however, is not a nude color on me. For that I go with something like Poco Pink Lip Lacquer. I guess it's naturally pigmented lips, enhanced.

Lipstick -MAC - Thrills (Rushmetal 2007)
BohemianSheila 5/23/2008 12:11:00 PM
So, I stumbled upon this color while shopping a CCO. I was doing retail therapy, so I had no real plan on what I was going to buy. This caught my eye because for me to get a nude lip on my ultra pigmented lips, I need to use a color along the lines of Sandy B. When I got home and put this on my lips, I was pretty enthralled with the neutral wash it gave my lips - it's going to be a great summer color with glowy skin and dramatic or neutral eyes. It just gives me a very finished look without drawing too much attention to my lips (I have really full lips). On my NC30, AmerAsian, warm skin, it reads high wattage, peachy-pink but not OTT.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Paint Pot in Cash Flow
BohemianSheila 5/22/2008 3:19:00 AM
I LOVE this paintpot. It is the only gold color that looks gold on my eyes. I was completely entranced with Christina Ricci's make-up in Speed Racer they gave her that natural, pale, glowy look and was trying to figure out how to re-create it with my skintone. Well, a little Cash Flow & a little Gold Mode pigment *et voila!* glowy, beautiful eyelids. This color is amazing as a base to add some shimmer and brighten your eyeshadow look. Get it while you can!!

Highlighters -MAC - Glimmershimmer in ritzy
BohemianSheila 5/22/2008 3:13:00 AM
I bought this on a whim at my CCO today and decided to use it when applying my make-up today and actually really love this. I pumped a bit on my palette and used my stipple brush to apply it to my cheeks and it gave me the perfect natural glowy cheeks - (me: NC30 AmerAsian, Black hair & Brown Eyes). I could possibly buy this again except that I don't like the lack of control in dispensing product. If it weren't for that, I'd definitely (at this point) buy again.

Highlighters -MAC - Cream Colour Base in Hush
BohemianSheila 5/22/2008 3:06:00 AM
I got this product today and am in love with it as a natural highlighter. It completely blends into my NC30, AmerAsian skintone except it leaves a nice shimmer. I applied it today after applying foundation but before powder along with a Tarte Cheekstain and it gave me the most amazing glowy cheeks - in a very understated natural way (and believe me I usually only like my cheeks with ALOT of bright color). I will definitely be using this combo for bridesmaids when applying wedding make-up!!

Lip Gloss -MAC - Lacquer- Poco Pink
BohemianSheila 5/21/2008 5:56:00 PM
Whilst shopping the local CCO, I decided to give Lip Lacquers a whirl since it was one of the few MAC products I hadn't tried. I spied this lovely peach-gold color (reminded me of Sandy B in a gloss), purchased it and immediately put it on when I got into my vehicle. Well, I am in love - I think I am converted to these lovely lipglosses. I usually apply lipliner, lipstick and then lipglass, but with this product, I think all I'd have to do is apply lipliner (or not) and this gloss and voila! long-lasting lipcolor with some sparkle, shine, and lasting-power. This color happens to be the perfect color for my MMM, very warm complexion to give my highly pigmented lips a pretty nude look. (NC30, pink undertones, yellow overtone, AmerAsian, Black Hair, Brown Eyes). So in love with this color!!

Highlighters -BeneFit Cosmetics - High Beam
BohemianSheila 4/12/2008 2:06:00 PM
I got the mini bottle along with Moonbeam in a swap because I'd heard so much about it. Honestly, I thought I would love the Moonbeam more, but actually the Highbeam works amazingly on my skintone (incredibly warm medium skintone). I've tried all sorts of highlighters, but so far this one is the best for subtle and glowy. I am now trading for a full-sized bottle. Honestly, I've tried others since this and keep coming back to this product!!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Paint Pot in Perky [DISCONTINUED]
BohemianSheila 3/4/2008 2:30:00 AM
I know some people are disappointed that this color did not "show" on them, but that doesn't matter to me. I cannot wear Bare Canvas or similar colors - they look gray on me. So, usually when doing a neutralizer, I have to go with more goldish colors - like Bare Study paintpot or Stillife Paint. Sometimes I go beige, like Shimmersand s/s, but beige is just too- beige. I love Perky because, yes it does blend with my skintone, but in that "Your skin is so perfect naturally and your eyes are so bright and beautiful without the help of make-up" way. Trust me, I am a bright make-up gal, but sometimes you want a base that doesn't take over - well this is it for me. So, for you gals that don't get the hype over Bare Canvas and all those colors - give this a try!!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Barbie-Beautyburst
BohemianSheila 12/20/2007 3:24:00 PM
This color in the pot is a little scary - very terracotta. However, recently while doing make-up for a wedding in the fall, the bride wanted me to do a smokey goldish-brownish eye. I was pulling all my usual warm browns to define the crease: Embark, Antiqued even Mystery, Espresso, etc but all of those colors turned gray. Well, I was incredibly frustrated but decided to give Beautyburst a try as a last resort - voila! perfect for that warm brown smoky eye. MAC does not make anything like it. With their recent Matte2 collection there is a similar color (Brown Script) - but this is waaaay better.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Brown Script
BohemianSheila 12/8/2007 4:20:00 PM
I have been looking for the perfect warm deep brown to replace a much beloved Arbonne color but in a more long-lasting e/s. Well, since the matte2 collection came out, I'd been eying this color and decided to give it whirl at an event today. I immediately bought it - it's a lighter version of my favorite Barbie e/s (Beautyburst) or like my fave MA said - Snappy without the shimmer. Funny story - I was looking at the line of my fave browns: Bamboo, Arena, Texture, Saddle, Swiss Chocolate - and this color was plunked in the middle of them and it was the only one I didn't have in that entire line. So, if you like all the colors I just mentioned and don't know if it's too much like..... It isn't - get it now!!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Pigment in Sweet Sienna [DISCONTINUED]
BohemianSheila 11/20/2007 4:22:00 AM
OK, let me start off by saying I don't like Satin Taupe, Coco, Subtle or Sunnydaze. Taupes are just a little off on me. They almost make me looks sickly and I never understood the appeal of these colors. With that being said, I now understand why people like colors like taupes. I am NC30 with alot of pink tones and pigmentation to my lids and yellow overtones (AmerAsian). This was probably the pigment I was least excited about, I'm more of a red girl and like punchy colors. After having this p/m for a week I decided to see what it looked like on. I put a base of Bare Study p/p and packed this color over it wet. OMG! I could not stop staring at my eyes. This looks silvery gold on me. I know that sounds strange, but I swear that's the only way to describe it. I have a really hard time finding a silver I like, they always turn blue on me. I don't get any green, more like a silver with a hint of antique gold. So, I guess this is one that you'll need to try before you buy. I am pretty tempted to get a back-up of this one it is so unique!! *edit* I just have to add that this is the most amazing color. It is so complex and beautiful. I've fallen more and more in love with it and have just purchased a back-up. I've put this over Blackground paintpot and it makes THE best daytime smokey eye - kind of silvery, but kind of not. I LOVE this color.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Femme Noir
BohemianSheila 9/29/2007 12:44:00 AM
I am in love with this eyeshadow. I forgot that I had swapped for this and have been on a smokey eye kick and decided to use this for a smokey eye. Well - this is the best smokey eye color on me ever - it has a little something that makes it soft and wearable during the day and hella sexy on me (Black Hair, Red/Amber/Brown eyes & NC30 skin -medium with yellow undertones). Because of that bit of green in it, the red tones in my eyes really POP! I will never use Carbon for smokey eyes AGAIN!

Polishes -China Glaze - Ruby Pumps
BohemianSheila 9/8/2007 1:38:00 AM
I just got into nailpolish because of the MAC Smoke Signal/Blue Storm nailpolishes that came out. After reading the boards I got a lemming and while at Ulta got this polish. I was wearing MAC Whirlwind and it was starting to chip, so I took the polish to see how it would look over the dark teal color and instantly became so mesmerized I changed my nails immediately. Instead Whirlwind, I used a Milani black creme np. I have to say, it looked better over the teal, but it's still completely hawt over the black. I still keep staring at my nails!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Idol Eyes
BohemianSheila 9/3/2007 2:50:00 AM
Me: NC30 - 35, Yellow Undertones (Asian) and Red Overtones (American). Anyhow - most colors that look great on other people look like crap on me, so keep that in mind. Anyhow, with all the smokey eyes that are being showcased this fall, I really wanted to find a nice Silver color to use. Unfortunately anything I tried turned blue on me. I received this color in a swap, loose, as an extra. I never really played with it but once or twice, but remembered that it turned purple on me. Anyhow, tonight I took Silverblu Shadestick and used Visine drops to it and -whaddaya know - Lovely true silvery-ness. I also tried it with just the Visine drops on a bare eye and it was lovely if a little less opaque and slightly less Metallic. So - all you Medium Skintoned gals that can't find that perfect purple should give this a try - a little work, but worth it (until I find that Veluxe Pearl Silver that is just as awesome on the my lids)
