Lips -Philosophy - Raspberry Sorbet Lip Shine
ActorMom 6/6/2006 9:28:00 AM
I originally went in for the Melon Dauquiri but decided that it was too pale to show up on my lips, as mine are fairly pigmented. I choose the Raspberry because it is a rich and girlie pink. I think mine is a stale, it is not as 'berryish' as I thought it would be. However those lights at sephora and heat could ruin anything in a week. All the tubes were sticky. I wasn't sure if there was supposed to be a seal on any of them so I grabbed the cleanest. I will rebuy if I run out. I like the way it makes my lips look. Just evens the color and shines. Prettier in the tube than on.

Makeup Brushes -Sue Devitt - Powder Brush
ActorMom 6/6/2006 9:21:00 AM
How can this be a powder brush the head is so small. I use it to apply highlighter and blush. My hand has already started to rub off the logo which is annoying. It is really soft which is a plus but at 45.00 bucks I won't get it again, thank goodness for ebay!

Lip Gloss -Philosophy - The Supernatural in Mauve
ActorMom 6/6/2006 9:17:00 AM
Seriously, I thought I had already done a review for this. I love LOVE love this lipgloss. You can apply it heavy for a nice dramatic look, light for a polished look and in between gives you perfect baby lips. It is so moisturizing and smells great. This is my favorite, HG lipgloss for me!

Sunscreen -Neutrogena - Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 55
ActorMom 3/15/2006 9:31:00 AM
Ok, let me say I am not a sunscreen junkie. I know nothing other than the fact that I am super pale with a family history of melanoma. I suppose I should know more about my sunscreens and know what photstable means but for years my solution has been to stay indoors until early evening and then wearing something higher than spf 15. It has worked for me so I feel content. My oldest son has started school and I've had to take him back and forth the the bus stop and have started to notice minor signs of sun damage that I've never had before. Mind you I am noticing these damaged spots in the middle of winter, not even when you typically think of sun damage... . I've decided that because I can't stay indoors all year and all day anymore I better find something I can add to my regimine and love. I had my husband pick this up for as I was going on a ski vacation and needed strong protection. It is great, amazing stuff. It is so matte and velvety. I don't find that it balls up in the least. I always apply it to clean dry skin. It feels almost as if I have a primer on my face, but not nearly as heavy. It doesn't bother my eyes, or my nose...lol, the scent is quite clean. I haven't broken out yet and have nothing negative to say. I ACTUALLY WISH they'd make this tinted that way I could use it as a makeup come summer time. That is the only thing that could make it better. LOVE!

Eye Shadow -Smashbox - Eye Shadow Duo - Smashing Look Book
ActorMom 3/8/2006 10:53:00 AM
I never would have thought that I'd get my self into a green eyeshadow. I love all things Smashbox and thought that I could give this a try. This duo contains a pistachio green and a chocolate brown. Both are fantastic shades. The green more brightens my eye than saying look at my green eye shadow. The brown is a really nice contour shade. You can build and blend it all or just shade and contour. This is a really versatile duo. I love it.

Eye Shadow -Stila - Rain Shower Trio 2006
ActorMom 2/28/2006 4:05:00 PM
I love these shadows. I love the packaging....well I HATE the fun house mirror on the inside but everything else is spot on. I have to say that I think these are the perfect colors for my eyes. I can layer and layer and layer them and they still look fantastic. With 3 shadows I can get a really easy, laid back look or I can get a full on glam look. I love that. With other brands of shadow I tried it seems like the more you use the worse it looks but these Stila shadows are heaven. Smooth almost silk like. Im hooked on this palette. I haven't purchased a back up because I can't see myself using it all up, I've never finished anything. I bought this on a whim, everyone had been talking about it so when I was in Sephora picking up some new brushes, I walked past it, glanced at and tossed it my basket. I never do that. I normally don't have an extra 30 bucks to just grab an impluse buy, lucky for me this time I did. I can't say enough about this palette. Makes me love doing my eye shadow. Now go get one!

Mascara -LORAC - LOTSA LASH
ActorMom 2/28/2006 3:56:00 PM
I like this mascara. ALOT! At first I had some strange Great Lash experiences with it but those soon went away and I was able to apply this mascara in a very natural, girlie way. My lashes don't look over done or forgotten. I like to replace my mascara every few months and can't see shelling out 20 bucks for a new tube all the time but for a treat this was nice. The strength of the mascara is really buildable, but there is a really fine line between just right and all wrong. For me it was too easy to go all wrong with this mascara. I only reach for this when I want simple lashes not when I was something extrodinary.

Lip Treatments -Almay - Pure Tints - Clear
ActorMom 2/28/2006 3:52:00 PM
So much more moisturizing than you'd expect it to be!! I adore this stuff. Keeps my lips moisturized for hours it seems and even stays put when I sleep. I wake up to full moist lips. I certainly didn't expect this to moisturize better than my other balms but it really does.

Blush -L'Oreal - Blush Delice - Front-Page Peach
ActorMom 2/28/2006 3:50:00 PM
I didn't buy this product for myself. I had been talking about this blush and all the hoopla it was causing on the boards. So one evening my husband surprised me with an issue of InStyle and Front Page Peach. I was excited but not thrilled. I had been reading that FPP had many pink undertones to it, not unline Milani Luminous. That is the reason I had chosen to pass on it. I want a true peach blush. I want to do that whole Reese Witherspoon look with the peach cheeks and brown eye shadows. I do see the pink undertones a bit, not as much as I expected. This is a peach blush with a gold sheen to it. When I turn my face to the side I can see the gold bursting through. For a drug store blush this is really nice. The pan is enormous. I really like the packaging. I recognize it right away and am able to get my makeup on in less time. I don't know that I will buy another one but this was a nice gift.

Cleansers -Philosophy - Purity Made Simple (Real Purity Cleanser)
ActorMom 2/24/2006 3:23:00 PM
I am really into the Philosphy line right now. I have gone a bit overboard but am really glad I have. The Purity Made Simple looks right now to be a staple in my house. My husband and I are both using it. For the past few years we've had 2 different face washes in the shower, one for me and one for him. Mine needed to remove makeup and his needed to remove all his excess oil. This does both perfectly. It doesn't leave your face tight in the least or like it has a moisturizing residue on it. You just feel clean and comfortable. Im not sure what it is doing for breakouts, considering both my husband and I are still getting some random pimples. Aside from that, this is a fantastic cleanser.

Foundations -Philosophy - the supernatural airbrush canvas
ActorMom 1/19/2006 8:45:00 AM
I am a makeup junkie and have just decided that it takes up way to much of my time. I am a stay at home mom and really don't need a full face everyday even though I have alot of fun doing so. I bought this because of the applicator, period. I thought it would be great to just puff my foundation (in less than a min) on as opposed to using my liquid and foundation brush which is the most time consuming part of my makeup routine. I ordred the Natural. It is soo dark in the container but really doesn't apply as dark to the face. The coverage of this stuff is pretty amazing! I puff it on then open the screw top and use a tiny bit on an e/s brush to apply it to my under eye circles and around my nose. I've used this as the jumping off point for pairing down my daily routine. First time ever that I've done my makeup in less than 10 mins. It is easy to over apply and totally mess up the color match. A little goes a long way, I try to keep the puff away from my jaw line all together and just use a brush to blend it into my neck. I love it. I haven't tried my liquid since this arrived. I am thrilled with my purchase and will order again if I should ever run out but this is a huge amount!!!!!

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Twice Baked
ActorMom 11/25/2005 2:59:00 PM
Go buy it now! I love this brown. It is perfect. Not to flat, to shimmery, just right. Really does wonder for many eye colors! It can be played down for a natural look or layered on for a perfect dramatic eye!

Tinted Moisturizer -Hard Candy - Hint Tint Tinted Creme [DISCONTINUED]
ActorMom 11/25/2005 2:57:00 PM
This isn't very moisturizing. I need to use my regular moisturizer before I put this on to get it to move smoothly over my skin. I have it in Crystal which is supposed to be the lightest color and it is still a tad to yellow for me. I like the texture but the rest of the product leave alot to be desired.

Blush -Smashbox - Blush & Soft Lights Duo - Smashing Golden Beige / Ray
ActorMom 11/25/2005 2:55:00 PM
I know the product name says "golden beige" but that isn't an accurage description of this blush at all. The blush is much more of a dusty mauve. It is the exact color of my cheeks when I get all flushed. The Soft Lights Ray on the opposite side of the pan is a perfect compliment to the Golden Beige side. I love the product it is my HG of blushes and highlighters. I think Soft Lights is the best powder highlighter out there. Very sheer and amazing. The color Ray diffuses any imperfections and DOES not draw attention to my large pores like alot of other products. I can wear this all the time and never get sick of it. Go get it now!

Blush -Smashbox - "Plush" Blush
ActorMom 11/25/2005 2:49:00 PM
This is very bright and on the garish side. If I had a skunk brush I might be happier but until then it stays tucked away. It is a nice color but very bright. Not made for the super pale
