Pressed Powders -T. LeClerc - Pressed Powder
88angels 11/3/2012 10:40:00 PM
This is my go-to powder. Bar none. I have yet to use the HG term because I feel like that is overused a bit... but this powder is my favorite and a long term staple of my makeup kit, both at home and professionally. I love all the colors, sable being the one I use on most people. its feather light, silky without silicone, not cakey and doesn't build up after powdering all day long. it works so well that i have to explain to my actors they don't need powdering because they just aren't used to a powder lasting so long without having to retouch.

Liquid -Chanel - Perfection Lumiere

I am using this foundation right now on one of my actress clients. I change foundations on her every few months or so because I have yet to find THE ONE. For now this is A ONE, but not THE. It looks beautiful but it takes a bit of work to get there. This is how I make it work for her... 1. PREP the skin. You simply cannot skip this step with this foundation. I use EMU oil first, let it absorb for a few minutes 2. followed with InVizinc sunscreen, which together works as a good primer. 3. Apply foundation with a foundation brush and blend quickly with a beauty blender 4. Lightly dust pressed powder in areas as needed. (T.Le Clerc in Sable is one of my favorites and a staple BTW) Remember This foundation can be drying so take care not to over powder When I apply in this manner the result is stunning. Honestly she has never looked better. But I have to be so diligent and careful with each step otherwise I may end up with a dry, skippy application. I should have named my MUAlley handle "lazyMUA" because I do not want to work this hard or be stressed out to get good results. For this reason I continue the hunt...

Loose Powders -Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition Loose Powder
88angels 11/3/2012 10:11:00 PM
I wanted to like this powder, i really did. Its so silky feeling it seems like it should be as magical as it feels. But I am over the hype of silky feeling products because i now know that silicone based products may feel silky but it doesn't mean they work for your makeup needs. truthfully this product intimidates me because I never know what its going to do to different foundations. as a professional makeup artist i have several different foundations i use on different people on any given day and i avoid this powder like the plague because sometimes its beautiful with a foundation and sometimes it totally ruins it. silicone is not compatible with all products, its just not. they play nice with some and look beautiful, and with others its like mixing oil and water. just make sure you test it at the counter with whatever you are using first. its not full proof for sure. I bought a jar of this powder 3 years ago and i cant' bring myself to toss it because it was so expensive i'm waiting to find the perfectly compatible foundation to use it with. i know its out there! (oh who am i kidding. i should just toss it and quit tripping over it in the makeup trailer!)

Liquid -Make Up For Ever - Mat Velvet PLUS Matifying Foundation
88angels 11/3/2012 10:02:00 PM
Medium to Full Coverage and very buildable. several years ago I used this foundation for awhile on many clients before switching to the MU Forever's HD Foundation. It has a beautiful silky satin finish but can get a little cakey with long wear and under hot lights all day. It can also dry out and get a bit thick on the shelf.

Liquid -Make Up For Ever - Face & Body Foundation
88angels 11/3/2012 9:56:00 PM
This is one of my first faves in foundations. If you've read any of my reviews, i am always on the hunt for the best foundation and continue my quest. However, this base stays in my kit because it is moisturizing, sheer but buildable and has a beautiful dewy finish. Good for dry skin but beware if you are oily, you'll be chasing the shine all the day long.

Crème -L'Oreal - magic smooth souffle
88angels 11/3/2012 9:40:00 PM
I wanted to like this, I really did. Its light and fluffy and whippy! it has a smooth texture but don't be fooled because that's the silicone base and its in a lot of foundations now. anything ending with "icone"will give you that slippery feel and a lot of people like that. but if you have any dryness in your skin it ends up in a skipping chalky mess. and the colors wear a bit muddy on the skin. I thought it would be good for my male clients because of the apparent color selection and seemed sheer. i didn't give it a 0 because for some reason the first time I used it (on men) it seemed pretty good (that ever happen to you??) but i picked it back up and yuck what was i thinking? has anyone experienced that after a few months on the shelf the consistency changes or was that just me?

Foundations -Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition Foundation

Makeup Forever HD Foundation was my go-to for years! All the actors on HIMYM wore it. I'm always on a quest for newer better foundations and this one was shelved for awhile. But still a good staple and I return to it again and again. PROS: 1. Great Coverage 2. Good color selection 3. Works well on most skin types. CONS: 1. Can get cakey after long wear 2. Gets thick in the bottle after awhile

Crème -Cle de Peau - Teint Naturel Satine Silky Cream Foundation
88angels 11/3/2012 9:14:00 PM
The only reason I said that I would buy this product again is that I have a client who this works for and its the ONLY foundation I've found that works for her. She is fair skinned, red hair with pink undertones. Its beautiful on her. great coverage, luminescent, gorgeous on camera. 010 is a perfect color match. BUT at $120 for a tiny tube its ridiculously expensive and even though the production pays for this foundation I don't like to be wasteful of our budget. if it were a miracle product then it would be worth it. right now its just the only thing i can find that "works" and it does look great... but with a $120 price point? I'm going to keep hunting!!! btw if this foundation interests you i suggest asking for a sample at the counter and see how it wears for you before dropping the buck-twenty on it.

Liquid -Chanel - Vitalumiere
88angels 11/3/2012 9:03:00 PM
PROS: sheer, moisturizing, illuminating CONS: doesn't work for full coverage needs. color selection limited (yellow tones only), requires lots of chasing and powdering for professional use. can be too shiny for HD BEST FOR: yellow skin tones, dry skin, sheer coverage, print work. For the right skintype/skin tone/lighting its one of my favorites! But does NOT work on all my clients and I am very choosey in what lighting and photographic medium I will use it in.

Foundations -Stila - Stay All Day Foundation & Concealer
88angels 11/3/2012 8:56:00 PM
This is a great foundation for HD cameras and all day wear for everyday. I am reviewing a lot of foundations right now because we upgraded the cameras our show and it is very unforgiving to makeup. You see EVERYTHING. PROS: 1. All day wear, no powder needed. stays put 2. can be very sheer, and looks like 2nd skin (great for men!) 3. Can be either sheer, or build up to full coverage 4. Great for oily skin 5. Comes with concealer! CONS: 1. Not great on super dry skin 2. Need a more full range color selection: Colors are very yellow based, not much in the pinky or peach toned colors. 3. Comes with concealer! (this is good and bad. sometimes its the concealer color you want, sometimes its not) Hope this helps! Check out my other foundation reviews... I'm on a quest!!!

Concealers -Bobbi Brown - Corrector
88angels 11/3/2012 6:27:00 PM
Do you struggle with dark undereye circles on ethnic skin? Do products go gray on you or just won't cover the problem?? This is your product.Bobbi Brown Peach and dark peach concealers are staples in my professional makeup kit for dark undereye circles on ethic skin. This is the biggest challenge that many makeup artists have and the only way to combat it is with the right color and the right formula. This is the one people! if after using this you are still not able to correct the problem, the next step is to mix in an orange concealer with one of these. and i mean ORANGE. makeup forever has a fantastic orange concealer that, when added to the peach, is the perfect color on many problematic undereye circles.

Moisturizers -Josie Maran Cosmetics - Argan oil
88angels 11/3/2012 6:10:00 PM
i bought this for the treatment qualities as opposed to any moisturizing qualities. It can actually be drying which is surprising. Have you ever noticed when a wound is healing it can get slightly dry and itchy? This is what I found at first with this oil. since it definitely did not feel like an allergic reaction (not inflammed or red, just a bit itchy/dry). so I thought it very possible that the oil was treating/healing my "wounded" skin and decided to keep using it. I didn't care for the itches but wanted to continue with the treatment, so I added a few drops to EMU oil and WOW!!! that combo is miraculous. my skin looks and feel 10 years younger!!

Moisturizers -Skin Biology - Emu Oil for skin
88angels 11/3/2012 5:56:00 PM
This is a review for Emu oil in general. I have been using the Laid in Montana Emu oil that I get from Nigels. LOVE LOVE LOVE and can't live without. i use it under primers and sunscreens in the morning, and over treatment creams at night. My skin is plump and smoother than its ever been. At 47 years old this is THE product i wanted to find before it got too late to save my thinning ageing skin. I just started mixing it the Josie Maran Argan oil for an added boost and love it even more.

Foundations -Josie Maran Cosmetics - Matchmaker
88angels 11/3/2012 5:43:00 PM
I'm a makeup artist in the film/tv industry and have tried hundreds of foundations on different skintypes for different purposes. I have yet to find ONE foundation that will work on everyone. Having said that, this is one of my favorite overall foundations that works on a great majority of people Of all the hundreds of foundations I've tried over my 18 year career, this is my current personal choice. although i have medium toned olive skin and use the light to medium shade. (I prefer to go on the fair side) i love it!! PROS: 1. GORGEOUS SILKY DEWY NATURAL FINISH. STUNNING. 2. LIGHTWEIGHT 3. MATCHES MOST SKINTONES 4. Moisturizing 5. Treatment serum 6. Buildable coverage CONS: 1. Not for very fair skin tones (not good for fair gingers with freckles) 2. Not for oily skin types 3. Light to medium coverage
