Palettes -MAC - Holiday 2003 7 Eyes Neutral palette
rated 3 of 5
kookykitty 10/29/2003 1:09:00 PM

Ok, I'm sorta new to MAC so I and the colors in the neutral palette looked like a good mix of shimmer and matte. The neutral tone made it a great no brainer for a quick getaway or something great to keep at work for touchups. Ummm..I'm not sure if I should have gotten this now. The colors in the palette are Brule, Honesty, Samoa Silk, Mythology, Bronze, Folie, and Studied Brown and you get a mini #213 shadow brush all for $30. The eyeshadows just don't seem very pigmented. I thought Brule was similar to Stila Blonde, but not as pigmented. Honesty was a pretty shimmery tan, but not very pigmented. Mythology just look like a few sparkles anda sheer peach--definitely not very pigmented on me. Studied Brown was a boring matte dark brown. I guess you can use it to line or fill in brows. Maybe this is better for someone just getting into makeup. It's a great starter set for a beginner, but I prefer more pigment to my eyeshadows and better quality. I don't however fidn that all MAC shadows reflect this inferior quality. I bought Trax and I love it! It's very pigmented and pretty. But, I'm returning the Neutral palette.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Bliss Me
rated 3 of 5
kookykitty 10/29/2003 1:02:00 PM

My lemming went out of control when i read the posts on MUA about Bliss Me from the new MAC Holidazzle collection. It was touted to be a beautiful YLBB with shimmer. I immediately went to the MAC Store and purchased it untested. Maybe I ought to have tried it on at the counter first. It was not YLBB on me. By looking at it in the tube, you'd think it was a rosier less purpley version of Lovechild. You'd think it would be the perfect rosey ylbb with fine multicolored shimmer. I really thought I hit a winner with this one by just looking at it. Well, when I put it on...it was peachy. It looked peachy apricot with shimmer. Hmmmmm....maybe it's my really yellow undertoned skin that made this happen. It was a sorta bright peachy apricot color, too. Not really natural. I'm not sure if I'm going to return this or not yet. I don't have an apricot lipgloss with multicolored sparkles yet....maybe I oughta keep it in case I need it one day.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Joyberry Lipglass
rated 2 of 5
kookykitty 10/29/2003 12:57:00 PM

I loved the way Joyberry Lipglass(from the 2003 MAC Holidazzle collection) looked in the tube. It looked like UD Love Junkie with multi-colored sparkle. I thought I'd found a new HG--berry stained lips with fine rainbow shimmer. I was WRONG. Joyberry was bright and fuschia on my lips. The Rainbow sparkles were far fromt he fine multicolored shimmer I wanted. Maybe it's because my lips are really pigmented or something, but this was not a dark berry tint--it was loud, garish, and fuschia on me. I'm so bummed...well, this is definitely going back.

Lip Treatments -Laura Mercier - lip silk
rated 1 of 5

Do not waste your money on this product if you are looking for something to soothe and moisturize dry chapped lips. The Laura Mericer MA at Macy's in Downtown Plaza, Sacramento bullied me into getting. She basically insulted me and said she couldn't talk to me until I put some Lip Silk on(that wasn't even the insulting part!). Ok, anyhoo, this product was nothing but vaseline on my lips. Icky and thick with absolutely no moisturizing going on at all. It just sat there on my lips. Save your $18 and buy a tube of Aquaphor and a lipgloss instead.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #219 Pencil Brush
rated 5 of 5
kookykitty 10/27/2003 7:40:00 PM

I love my MAC #219 Pencil brush! I was using the Cargo mini crease brush before I bought this and I am soooo glad I switched to MAC. The #219 has a finely tapered, yet full and soft brush head that sorta comes to a point(hence the name pencil brush I suppose). It is perfect for precision work. It's so easy for me to do that "outer V" crease technique that MAs do thanks to this brush. I think it is a staple in every person's makeup brush collection. Accept no substitutions, the MAC #219 is the best. lol! :P Retails at aruond $20 (I think) at MAC Counters and stores. I believe it is also sold online.

Highlighters -MAC - Fairylite Pigment - Hollidazzle 2003
rated 5 of 5
kookykitty 10/26/2003 11:26:00 PM

I love Fairylite Pigment from the Holidazzle 2003 collection! Fairylite is a finely milled creamy color with fine shimmer. It shows up cream off white with beautiful fine silver sparkles! Some people don't like it because it isn't as shimmery as the other pigments and have likened it to a loose face powder. But, that's what I like about it. It gives the eye a soft glow with a little subtle sparkle--kinda ethereal I think! :) It also looks pretty dusted lightly on cheeks and on temples. Since it is LE, I am definitely going to buy another one! I bet it would look fab mixed with other pigments and shadows! :)

Lip Gloss -Stila - Peach Lipglaze
rated 4 of 5
kookykitty 10/26/2003 11:22:00 PM

I received Peach Lipglaze in Peach as a gift from a wodnerful Stila MA. It's pretty milky peach color with lots of shine. I like to pair it over MAC Rockin' Red lipliner(which really isn't red--more like a peachy pink color. :P). It gives my lips a smooth shiny peachy pink pucker! :) I'm not sure it is worth the $24 price tag, though. You get so little product! :P

Eye Shadow -Stila - Pigalle Eyeshadow
rated 3 of 5
kookykitty 10/26/2003 11:19:00 PM

I received Pigalle in the Pot form from a friend. It looked so pretty in the pot--a pretty plummy maroonish burgundy with fine shimmer. But, it was difficult to blend. It goes on pretty sheer which can be good so you can build up for more coverage, but it was just way too difficult to blend. I wasn't crazy about the paper pot packaging either. It's pretty flimsy for $16 imho. I've only used this color about 4 times and there still isn't even the slightest dip and there won't ever be one because it's since been retired to the far recesses of my back drawer.

Pressed Powders -MAC - Blot Powder - Medium/Dark
rated 5 of 5
kookykitty 10/26/2003 11:07:00 PM

Thank goodness that MAC came out with their famous Blot Powder in Medium/Dark! I was using the Medium shade before this shade came out and although it's fairly transculent, my face has a slightly "off" lighter cast to it. Blot in Medium/Dark is perfect for my MMM Stila D/E yellow undertoens skin. It is a sheer medium pressed powder that really stops oilies in their tracks! I like to set my makeup with Blot powder in the mornings and find that I only need to re-touch once in a while throughout the day with this and when I do retouch, my face never looks cakey like it does with most pressed powders. It is very reasonably priced at around $16, too and comes in a sturdy black mirrored compact. This is one of my HG powders. :)

Palettes -Bobbi Brown - Deep Lip Gloss Palette
rated 2 of 5
kookykitty 10/26/2003 11:02:00 PM

After lemming the 2002 Bobbi Brown Deep Lip Palette for soooo long, I was thrilled when DH brought it home to me as a surprise! I eagerly dove into the beautiful black palette. It was gorgeous to look at with its deep plummy shades and lipliner/lipbrush duo all enclosed in a sleek mirrored compact. My delight ended soon after I applied the colors. Each color turned fuschia on me!!! What?!? I even tried them with the lipliner. Still I had horrible fuschia lips. Perhaps it's all because of my brightly pigmented lips, but this Deep Lip Palette has since gone into hibernation at the back of one of my makeup drawers never to see daylight again. :P

Blush -NARS - Deep Throat
rated 5 of 5
kookykitty 10/26/2003 10:57:00 PM

NARS Deep Throat is one of my HG blushes. It is a beautiful peach with fine gold shimmer and looks great on my MMM Stila D/E yellow undertoned skin. I like to use this by itself or dust it lightly on top of MAC Pinch o Peach. Some some DT is similar to NARS Orgasm. I think Deep Throat is definitely peachier with no pink to it at all and is not as shimmery. Deep Throat sorta gives this "glow" to my face! I love it! :) It retails at around $22.50.

Blush -Prescriptives - Mystick Swivel
rated 5 of 5
kookykitty 10/26/2003 10:09:00 PM

I tried Mystick Swivel Stick Cream Blush in "Swift". On my MMM Stila D/E skin with Yellow undertones it showed up a natural peachy flush. I liked that it was easy to blend and didn't break me out(I have oily acne prone skin btw). You can use just a bit to make a sheer natural flush or layer it on for a warmer peachy apricot color. I did *NOT* like the way mine was packaged, though. The stick fell out of the tube! I didn't even have it rolled all the way up. I barely used it like 3 times maybe when this happened. For this reason, I may not repurchase.

Fragrances -L'Artisan Fragrances - Drole de Rose
rated 5 of 5
kookykitty 10/26/2003 6:52:00 PM

Drole de Rose is one of my *favorite* fragrances! It smells like roses, violets, and honey on me! It's a sweet, green, floral scent that isn't cloying or headache inducing like most florals are to me. I feel dainty and ladylike in this like I should be wearing a circle skirt and kitten heels! lol! :P This is the one scent that DH absolutely adores, too! :) EDIT: The drydown on this scent is positively delish on me! It smells candyish and yummy, but not sugary sweet--more like candied violets! Big thumbs up for this fragrance! :)

Eye Shadow -MAC - AMBER LIGHTS
rated 5 of 5
kookykitty 10/26/2003 5:09:00 PM

Amber Lights is a shimmery golden coppery bronzey color on my dark MMM Stila D/E with Yellow unertoned skin. It looks great with my dark brown eyes! I thought it would turn scary orangey on me at first, but it didn't. It looks like a really pretty bronzey amber color. I love it! It's easy to blend, too, and the shimmer isn't outrageous. Retails for $12.50 pot form.

Lip Treatments -Prada - Prada Balm tint #4 - Berry
rated 5 of 5
kookykitty 10/26/2003 5:05:00 PM

Prada Balm Tint in #4 is a pretty natural berry stain on my naturally super brightly pigmented lips. It actually sorta tones down the brightness of my bubble gum pink lips and make them look more berry toned and "sexier"! lol! :P I love wearing this with minimal eye makeup(just a little liner along my upper lashes) and mascara and a bit of a rosy flush on my cheeks. :D ooh-la-la! :P I also love how moisturizing it is on my super chapped lips. It makes them look plump and much smoother. It also has SPF to boot! Too bad it's so pricey! About $38-40 for 10-12 of these tiny monodoses. :P But, well worth every penny imho. :)
