Fragrances -Loewe - DINNER by bobo

To me, this is Mardi Gras in a bottle(though it comes in a rather subdued square bottle with a rubber-dropper-spritzer top; its bold purple color alludes to something less "square" inside, waiting to be let out, but I digress)...Fruity, overpriced drinks and sweaty dancing 'til dawn. Colorful and wickedly, whimsically tacky. Unusual, wild, a little bit frightening, and you feel plain wrong having anything to do with it; but that's also part of the attraction. I really like it, and I'm keeping it for times when I need an ironic and humorous fragrance. However, I can certainly understand why some people detest it. It won't suit everyone. Most definitely a try before you buy scent. INGREDIENTS: Caribbean Lime, mandarin, sweet brazilian orange, plum, peach, candied fruit, gingerbread, cardamon, ginger, ceylon cinnamon husk, cumin seed, patchouli, somalian incense, vanilla, musk, woody resins, ylang ylang, violet, jasmine.

Fragrances -L'Artisan Fragrances - La Chasse aux Papillons Extreme
dancingoutlaw 1/30/2006 1:08:00 AM
Many scents heavy with tuberose do not usually work well with my skin. They tend to be harsh and menthol-ish. Jasmine tends to overwhelm me when I wear it...and that's just what this is. Tuberose and jasmine. I found La Chasse Extrême to pale in comparison to the original La Chasse, which I adore. The original is light and makes me want to put on a soft white dress and lay in a field. This one does not have that effect on me. However, I'm sure it will really work for someone. If you don't care much for the original and/or you're a tuberose or jasmine kind of gal, this might just work for you.

Fragrances -L'Artisan Fragrances - La Chasse aux Papillons
dancingoutlaw 1/29/2006 9:51:00 PM
La Chasse aux Papillons is soft and floral--nearly all tuberose on me, with the slightest hint of citrus. As it is nearly all tuberose (again, on my skin), I would suggest Frederic Malle Carnal Flower over this. That one is worth climbing mountains to attain. And as almost all L'artisan scents are finished with me long before I'm finished with them, might I also suggest purchasing the body cream as well should you choose to buy La Chasse. By the way,I also tried La Chasse Extrême and prefer the original. The tuberose in the extreme version is a little harsh for me. INGREDIENTS: Linden blossom, lemon tree blossom, orange blossom, jasmine, tuberose

Fragrances -Demeter - Dirt Pick Me Up Spray

I'll be the first to admit I'm a country girl at heart, and I was certainly interested in this one for reasons of nostalgia. It's a beautiful moist, sweet earthy smell and I absolutely love it(and I'm lucky enough to be someone on whom this lasts for a few hours). I adore it...but it isn't for everyone.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Guess for Women
dancingoutlaw 1/29/2006 9:47:00 PM
I suppose it is to be expected that Guess would be caught on the fruity floral bandwagon. On me, this scent is tangerine, mandarin, peach and freesia. No cedar, but perhaps a very slight hint of musk upon drydown. Nothing to write home about.

Fragrances -Escada - Magnetism
dancingoutlaw 1/29/2006 9:44:00 PM
Magnetism is sexy but subtle; modern, complex, a great fall scent. It's a little like Pink Sugar, but much sexier and more mature. There's a bit of a peppery aroma that accompanies the topnotes, then it dries down to cotton candy vanilla sex appeal. And for anyone who is interested, men love this. INGREDIENTS: Leafy greens, basil, freesia, black currant, plumberry, jasmine, immortelle, lily of the valley, blond woods, iris, almond blossom, amber, musk, cashmere vanilla, sandalwood

Fragrances -Escada - Collection [DISCONTINUED]
dancingoutlaw 1/29/2006 9:43:00 PM
Gorgeous. One of the few fragrances for which I purchased backup bottles. It's so lovely, creamy and long-lasting. I would give this more lippies if possible. If you find it, better buy two bottles, as it is becoming less available and more expensive. I also have the lotion; it's beautiful as well. INGREDIENTS: Mandarin, Cola, jasmine, tuberose, sandalwood, tonka

Fragrances -Comptoir Sud Pacifique - Vanille Banane
dancingoutlaw 1/29/2006 9:41:00 PM
Sadly I will never purchase any scents from this line, because they don't last more than half an hour on my skin. How can you justify those prices when it's common knowledge that every single scent fades so fast? That aside, this smells like homemade banana pudding. Yummy, but not fbw for me.

Fragrances -Comptoir Sud Pacifique - Vanille Abricot
dancingoutlaw 1/29/2006 9:39:00 PM
It’s a foody vanilla, and it’s nearly identical to the way Pink Sugar dries down in the end (and a little like one of Britney Spears' fragrances). However, you don‘t have to get through that initial burnt sugar phase like with Pink Sugar's topnotes. Vanille Abricot is smooth and sweet that I think it’s an adorable fragrance. I usually despise apricot in a fragrance--love the taste, but the smell is always very artificial and cheap. This is the best of the apricot bunch. However, I must deduct one lippie because there is no lasting power and CSP charges too much for such fleeting fragrances. It isn't fbw for me, but it's very pretty.

Fragrances -Creative Scentualization - Perfect Gardenia
dancingoutlaw 1/29/2006 9:38:00 PM
I wouldn’t call it perfect but it’s a lovely Gardenia. I agree that this smells wonderful and lush while it is still wet on the skin. When it dries down, it’s a very pretty gardenia--creamy and soft. If you’re a big gardenia fan you should give this a try. If you’re ambivalent about them, this would probably be “just another gardenia” fragrance. Try Il Profumi Gardenia Royal for the belle of the ball.

As always, Maller writes a wonderful review. "It's woodsy, green, slightly peppery, has a sweet note from the water lily and the transparent quality which so many of Olivia Giacobetti's fragrances do. Masterful." I think this smells quite similar to Diptyque's Virgilio, but it's a little more complex, a little more stemmy/herby and has lasted longer (5 hours thus far). Masterful, indeed. It's the least favorite of Olivia Giacobetti's creations I've tried, and I still love it.
