Fragrances -Comptoir Sud Pacifique - Vanille Abricot
rated 5 of 5

I love my Vanille Abricot. It's my nearly everyday winter scent, and I also wear it on cooler or rainy summer days. It's a perfect blend of vanilla and fruit. On me, it's a stronger vanilla yet on a friend, the apricot was the strongest note. If you don't like sweet scents, you likely will not like this one, but I love good, sweet vanillas, and this is perfect. It also lasts all day long on me, from 7 in the morning until 11 at night.

Powder -Aveda - Dual Base Minus Oil
rated 5 of 5
Stacy 8/18/2002 12:55:00 PM

This is my holy grail powder foundation. I have no desire to try anything else! It goes on smoothly and makes my blotchy skin look flawless, never cakey or heavy. It can be brushed on as well for less coverage. It keeps shine at bay for quite a while. I am breakout prone but haven't had any problems from this. I just purchased my 4th or 5th compact which isn't bad for someone who rarely repurchases anything.

I use the shade Aster. I also wear LM Sunny Beige, Chanel Shell. Aster's a hint on the light side but blends into my skintone well and looks very natural.

Accessories -BeneFit Cosmetics - Lana Bag
rated 5 of 5
Stacy 8/18/2002 12:51:00 PM

I love my Lana bag for travel! I either carry my makeup in it when I want to take along a lot of my Stila and MAC palettes (perfect fit) or will use it for bottles of skincare, shampoo, shower gel, etc. in my suitcase as it is waterproof and large enough to hold them. I do love that it has places for your brushes. The design is adorable. Mine is the older (and cuter, IMHO) version with a green background on the top instead of the current pink one but both are nice. I love the sparkly black vinyl. The bag is very sturdy and has a nice handle for carrying. I was a bit leery of paying $38 for it but it's been well worth that price thus far.

Fragrances -Antonia's Flowers - Floret
rated 5 of 5
Stacy 8/17/2002 10:38:00 AM

I've finally found a signature scent, for summertime anyway! I typically do not like florals but this is so light that it is clean and fresh rather than perfumey. The apricot notes sweeten it up quite a bit but it's still not overly sweet. It easily lasts a full day on me. I like to layer it with Benefit Bathina, a very similar scent to my nose. The bottle is beautiful...clear glass with a frosted green flower as the cap.

Blush -NARS - Orgasm Blush
rated 5 of 5
Stacy 8/15/2002 11:27:00 PM

What can I say that hasn't already been said about Orgasm? I'm a MAC C3, and this shows up beautifully on my skin as a gorgeous peachy pink. It's not too warm or too cool. The sparkle isn't noticeable but it gives me a glow. I like a more sheer blush since I naturally have a lot of pink in my cheeks, and this is perfect.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Eye Shadow in Quarry
rated 5 of 5
Stacy 8/15/2002 11:24:00 PM

This is a medium brownish mauve matte shade. It's perfect over Brule or Mylar for a simple everyday conservative look. It's also very pretty over a shimmery base such as Stila Cloud or MAC Vex. It shows up nicely on my skin (MAC C3) but those with darker skintones may have problems with this showing up on their lid. I love MAC shadows for their pigment and lasting ability, and Quarry is no exception!

Masks -Queen Helene - Mint Julep Masque
rated 2 of 5
Stacy 8/15/2002 11:21:00 PM

I bought this after so many raves on the board. Within minutes of applying, my skin burned. My skin is oily and acne prone but does tend to be a little sensitive. When I took it off, my face was red and irritated. While this doesn't work as a mask for me, it's a great spot treatment for blemishes...just pile it on and let it sit over night.

Eye Makeup Remover -Sephora - Eye make-up remover
rated 5 of 5
Stacy 8/15/2002 11:18:00 PM

I purchased this from sephora.com because I liked the product at Sephora stores! It melts my eye makeup right off and is one of the best I've used for that. It does have a light scent to it but it did not irritate my eyes in the least. I have had some problems with eye makeup removers doing that in the past. The packaging is cute and looks nice on the sink(like the store's bottles but plastic and with a screwtop cap), and the price is great ($8 for 5 oz).

Masks -Avon - Pore-Fection mask [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
Stacy 8/15/2002 10:44:00 AM

I received a generous sample of this product in a swap. I don't mask that often because my oily/ acne prone skin is sensitive as well. When I first applied this, it stung a bit but that quickly subsided. When I washed it off, my skin looked and felt really nice. My pores appeared smaller, with no redness or irritation. I don't know that it really helped my breakouts but at least it didn't hurt! I'm taking off one lipstick for the scent. It smells horrible. I used it while soaking in a warm bath, and I couldn't smell my Lush Bath Bomb over this.

Eye Shadow -Stila - Bohemian Trios - Café, Sage, Bronze
rated 5 of 5
Stacy 8/15/2002 10:40:00 AM

I've now received all three of the Stila Bohemian Trios. I've been highly disappointed in Stila's recent collections because it seemed that most of the trios/quads had colors that were unwearable or not very practical for work. This collection is gorgeous. Everyone should be able to find one trio that works for them, and the shades are all quite wearable.

Cafe is my favorite. The plummy browns are beautiful on my blue eyes (and I bet would be stunning on green as well). Bronze is my second favorite. I feared that the gold would be too orangey/mustardy but it's more brown that it looks in the photos. It resembles a deeper Oasis and is beautiful in the crease. I did end up swapping Sage because I could not get the middle shade to work for me, but it was beautiful as well.

The black and silver print packaging is very cute! All three of these trios are perfect for fall.

Lip Gloss -NARS - Lip Lacquer in Baby Doll
rated 5 of 5
Stacy 8/14/2002 10:10:00 PM

I generally avoid pot glosses but this is one I've fallen in love with. It appears bright pink in the pot but goes on as a beautiful sheer medium pink with a hint of shimmer. Without liner, it's a gorgeous subtle pink. The gloss lasts reasonably long on the lips but isn't too sticky. It has a bit of a scent to it, but it doesn't bother me (and I tend to be picky about scent).

Lip Gloss -Hard Candy - Icky Lip Gloss Cube
rated 2 of 5
Stacy 8/13/2002 10:36:00 PM

I had this gloss and swapped it away quickly. I could not stand the smell. I hear it's supposed to be a cake batter scent but to me, it smelled and tasted like plastic. Perhaps I had a bad one. The color Icky is a very light whitish peach that washed me out and didn't even look good over other things. The texture wasn't anything special. I much prefer MAC Lipglass or UD Lip Gunks, especially considering the wand packaging rather than the pot of Icky.

Eye Shadow -Stila - Walk in the Woods Trio
rated 5 of 5
Stacy 8/12/2002 9:43:00 AM

Walk in the Woods is by far my favorite Stila trio. The shades include light beige, a medium plummy gray/taupe, and a darker plummy brown. The darkest shade is matte, the others are shimmers. I'm not quite impressed with Stila's matte shadows but the deepest one is very nice as a liner. The shimmers are Stila's usual great quality...nice pigment and very blendable. It's beautiful on blue eyes.

My only problem with this trio is that the packaging isn't as cute as packaging of the other trios. Instead of fun designs, it's a regular silver cardboard pot, looking like the regular Stila eyeshadow trios.

Eye Shadow -Stila - Bohemian Cafe Trio 2002
rated 5 of 5
Stacy 8/12/2002 9:32:00 AM

Bohemian Cafe is a gorgeous combo. The medium and darker shades are shimmery plummy browns. The lightest shade is a pale shimmery cream that brightens my eye area. They combine for a beautiful and easy smoky eye that's different than your usual gray/black based smoky eye. They are dark but they are don't have the "hit in the eye" effect of many dark plummy shades. The dark shades are blendable and work well on my light skintone (Px Sheer Vellum, Aveda Aster, MAC C3)when applied with a light hand. The colors really make my blue eyes pop.

As with most of Stila's trios, the packaging is adorable. The price of $30 (apparently $28 at some Nordies) is good considering the amount of product you get. It's been compared a lot to Capri but to my eyes, they are very different. This trio is more brown-based while Capri is more purple. Cafe also looks more fall/winter with Capri being more summery.

Hair -ARTec - Kiwi Shampoo and Conditoner
rated 2 of 5
Stacy 8/10/2002 11:49:00 PM

I bought this shampoo and conditioner with high expectations based on the raves I've heard on MUA. Unfortunately, it doesn't work for my hair type. My hair is naturally wavy and highlighted. It tends to get frizzy quickly. My hair seemed to take longer to straighten when I used this and not only did it get frizzy very quickly, I never could get it as smooth as I wanted when styling. It felt very dry on the ends. It smells incredible though, if you like Kiwi (and I do!).
