Lipstick -Cover Girl - Triple Lipstick in Berry Glam
valleychic 11/10/2002 6:24:00 PM
I am impressed with quality of this CG lippie. There is not scent to this at all. The shade is a little more reddish coral than berry on me but it is in their neutral category so it works well for me. This lippie goes on smooth and creamy and it has an spf. Of the few lippies with an spf I've found, this one is definately a keeper.
Concealers -Paula's Choice - No slip concealer [DISCONTINUED]

This concealer did not work too well on my oily skin although the shades a very good. It smeared and creased a bit. I prefer almay's concealer and will go back to that.
This mascara flaked and smeared a little on me. It did not build much length or thickness. I will not be buying this again.
I've been using coffe bean for a couple of weeks and I like it. It lasts well on my oily lids. Only 3 lipsticks becuase the powder is a little messy and quite frankly a pencil liner can look just as nice for a fraction of the price.
Absolutely fabulous brush. I use this with my mineral veil. The bristles are soft and they do not shed. I've had my brush for about 2 yrs. Must have!
This is a nice dusty rose shade but it is a fairly average lipstick. The scent is not pleasant though not overpowering. You can get used to it. I find this a little drying so I will not be buying it again.
I would like this better if it did away with the scent. It is just too much for me. The shade I picked did not work for me. I recently received a berry shade as an extra in a swap so I will give it another chance. I won't buy this again.
I have found my holy grail of drugstore lipsticks. I bought this at Drug Emporium where it sells for 6.49 regular price. It came with a free lipliner and I had a 2.00 coupon. So for a mere 4.49 + tax I got to try this in 04 which is a great dark bronze color. It is creamy almost greasy which is great for my dry lips. It has and spf 15 and it has absolutely no scent. The staying power is about average for a creamy lippie. You will have to reapply. Definately will buy again.
Blush -Bare Escentuals - Warmth All Over Face Color
valleychic 10/27/2002 10:40:00 PM
After practicing with this for a while, I can now use that perfect amount (very tiny) of warmth as a blush. It is very nice and natural. I cannot imagine someone with very fair skin using this product since it is highly pigmented and on the orange side. If you are a medium skin tone or darker, I recommend you try this product.
Pressed Powders -Neutrogena - Healthy defense SPF 30 [DISCONTINUED]
valleychic 10/26/2002 8:29:00 PM
This is on of my favorite powders. I use medium. It has a great spf of 20 and goes on smoothly. The application sponge is not the greatest. I usually toss this and get one from Cover Girl or drugstore line. The color selection is limited (OK, non-existent which is why I take away one lippie) but medium works well for me. If you can work with one of the few shades available, I highly recommend you try this.
Pressed Powders -Cover Girl - Fresh Look Pressed Powder ] [DISCONTINUED]
valleychic 10/26/2002 8:25:00 PM
I used translucent medium. It has a very nice texture and goes on smoothly. It is great at controlling shine, does not break me out and is affordable. What more can I ask for? Oh yeah, an spf. For that reason, it cannot replace my standard Nuetrogena Healthy Defense.
I found Paula's book very informative although I do not agree with all of her reviews. I do not believe shimmer and glitter are the ultimate makeup sins and I believe that --GASP-- blue eyeshadow is perfectly acceptable if that's what you like. I continue to use some products that received her infamous sad face because they work perfectly well for me. Her makeup style is too conservative even for me and I am no makeup daredevil by any means. Having said that, I think she provides some valuable information about ingredients, irritants, gimmicky sales pitches and over priced products. I love her skincare products; they are staples in my skincare routine. I don't think that having her own line disqualifies her from writing this sort of book so long as she does not rate her own products. I will buy the 6th edition when it comes out. Using her book and MUA as guides has saved me a good deal of money and I've learned how to better care for my skin. So thank you Paula and thank you ladies of MUA.
This product is great! The colors are gorgeous. Especially the cherry/red color. All three shades are smooth and creamy and can be combined to create custom colors. They have good staying power and I would definately buy this again.
Cleansers -L'Oreal - Shine Control Foaming Face Wash
valleychic 10/13/2002 7:18:00 PM
Not sure if it does much to control shine but it is great at removing makeup. It has a nice scent which is not too overpowering.
This is one of the two cleansers I use most often. I like this one because it does not have fragrance. It does a decent job of removing makeup although I'm sometimes surprised at the amount still left on my face when I'm applying my toner. All in all it is a good product.
