Lip Gloss -NARS - Foul Play
lenah 2/17/2003 9:05:00 AM
OMG, this is the most natural, beautiful shade of l/g ever. It's definitely a YLBB (and glossier too). I was hestitant to buy this one b/c I'm an MMM and it looked a little too light, but I was wrong! My husband said my lips looked really sexy, and that when he kissed me, it wasn't as sticky as my Sweet Dreams (he hates sticky-lips kisses). It actually brings out the natural pink in my cheeks! Despite the sky-high price, I would probably buy this again. If you're debating whether or not to buy, BUY! UPDATE: It's actually not that natural, it's a true pink, but still pretty nonetheless. Again, my yellow-ish lighting browned it out and made it look natural, but in daylight it looks very pink. My first true pink lip color!

Mascara -Christian Dior - Long Optic mascara
lenah 1/12/2003 10:02:00 PM
OMG, the worst mascara i have EVER tried! it didn't lengthen, thicken, or do anything! i got so frustrated once that i tried glopping it on, which means literally like 30 coats! then it lengthened and thickened, but with oodles of clumps attached, making my lashes look spidery--gross. never again will i ever look at CD mascaras (or at least long optic)!!! UPDATE: I didn't want to waste this, so now I occasionally use it to darken my eyebrows. SECOND UPDATE: Ok, I saw this tube sitting there so pathetically abandoned, so I gave it another (millionth) shot. I cleaned the wand thoroughly and tried again. What a difference! Ok, so it does lengthen, but it takes two or three coats to thicken (despite the brush which makes you think that it thickens). It doesn't clump anymore at all!!! Even my HG mascara--YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils--clumps more than this one! Hmmm...I almost think that this mascara gets better with time and (a little cleaning)! I take it back, I like this one a lot.

Eye Shadow -NARS - Ondine
lenah 11/7/2002 10:18:00 PM
This is my first ever NARS eye shadow! I got this off of ebay at a slightly less price than retail. It is a beautiful color, a plummy brown-grey with gold sparkles. When I tried it on, it barely showed up! I was very disappointed, especially because it looked soooo very pretty in the compact. So I tried it on wet and it showed up very nicely. I was relieved that I hadn't wasted my money. I took off 2 lipsticks, one for the high retail price (if ever i decided to buy another e/s) and another because i'm lazy and don't like having to put eyeshadow on wet. Otherwise, I suppose I would buy it again, only if I couldn't find something better. UPDATE: Nevermind all that about how i couldn't see it; it was bad lighting. This is one of my all-time fave everyday colors! Love it, love it, love it!!! (ps. this looks great when paired w/ my Almay Bright Eyes cream eye shadow in Pink Glow, a beautiful daytime look!)

Blush -NARS - Orgasm Blush
lenah 10/9/2002 8:38:00 AM
An unregrettable lemming! It truly does live up to its hype! It is a shimmery golden pink w/ subtle apricot tones that looks sheer and subtle when on. it does give me that ever so slight color with a touch of shimmer to highlight. this is going to be my no brainer blush--it's so natural, that i could wear it on my "no makeup" days! Will definitely repurchase *if* i ever run out. (small compact, but there seems to be a lot in there IMO).

Eyeliner -Bonne Bell - Eye definer
lenah 9/30/2002 12:50:00 PM
I bought this in black ink and expresso after reading a positive review in "Don't Go to the Makeup Counter W/o Me" by Paula Begoun. She said it was creamy, nice color, and great for the price. so i lemming-ed it. It retailed for only about $1.50 or less, so i thought well no harm in trying. the black pencil is very dark and rich in color and smooth going on, no tugging. the brown, same thing. The problem? this smears worse than any liner i've ever tried. the black one smears into the crease of my eyes, leaving an ugly black line, and smears under my eyes. the brown does the same, but not as bad since the color is not as harsh. i guess you get what you pay for; in which case, i think i'll try a better brand.

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Line Intensifique
lenah 9/30/2002 12:44:00 PM
This is a great liner! I used to wear maybelline's liquid liner, but that smudged like crazy, and dissolved with the slightest bit of water. I tried this one, and was very impressed. I bought it in black (don't remember the exact name of the shade) and was pleasantly surprised when i saw that it dries to a shiny black instead of boring matte. It's not too shiny, but not powdery matte looking either. A unique look. It doesn't fade or smear into the crease of my eyes, and is my new fave liner. It'll probably be a staple.

Pressed Powders -Almay - oil control oil blotting pressed powder
lenah 9/30/2002 12:33:00 PM
I have mixed feelings for this powder. I've bought both translucent and beige (#3), a couple of different times. the translucent is too chalky white for my MMM skin, and i dropped it once and it broke. into the garbage that went. the other times, i've used the beige, i find that it *does* keep my face matte for a while, and the compact itself comes with a lot of product, BUT the color kind of darkens on my skin. plus i have to touch up midday or else i'll be shiny. so all in all, this is best for a normal to combo skin, not for very oily gals like me. (the only reason i kept buying this one is cuz it did an OK job for a drugstore price. I'll only buy this again *IF* i can't find anything better. But I think i will move on now to something better.)

Loose Powders -Almay - Luxury loose powder
lenah 9/30/2002 12:27:00 PM
I'm not too pleased with this powder. I got it in beige, and the color suits me nicely and looks alright on without foundation. With, it looks cakey and you can *tell* i have makeup on. I have very oily skin, and this powder wears off in less than an hour! Nevertheless, i couldn't find any other drugstore brand of loose powder so i used this one up. But i won't be buying it again. I think i'll try NARS...

Lip Gloss -Naturistics - Miss Kiss gloss in Cutie Chaser
lenah 9/30/2002 10:32:00 AM
This is my second lemming purchase. I got this color cuz i wanted a beige gloss w/ shimmer in it--this turns out clear with very very subtle shimmer. It didn't last long at all--barely an hour before i felt i had to reapply. Again, like the other reviewers, i guess its ok since it was only $2.50 (USD) with a coupon, but i won't buy it again. I'll stick to my ULTA and NARS lipglosses.

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - On the Loose Shimmering Powders [DISCONTINUED]

I bought this in mystified and it's a fabulous light pink that flashes purple! it does fade after a while, unless you use a base, but for the price (around $5) and the color variety, i would definitely buy more!

Highlighters -NARS - Multiples
lenah 9/14/2002 10:12:00 AM
Another new favorite! i bought this in cannes, (my first multiple) and i am not the least bit unsatisfied (although $33 is a lot). it gives me a healthy girly rosy glow when i blend it onto my cheeks, a sheer metallic pink on my eyes, and a pretty pinky-mauve on my lips. (powder eyelids first, then apply color, then lightly dust again to set. otherwise it creases.) i like to top my lips with clear gloss or NARS sweet dreams gloss. it's not as plummy mauve as it looks. I will most definitely try more multiples!!! UPDATE: I didn't find myself reaching for this too often, so I traded it in for something else. Pretty color, just got bored of it after the winter passed. I'll try other colors though! UPDATE #2: Tried South Beach yesterday...Gorgeous light peachy bronze shade that looks fabulous as a blush!!!

Lip Gloss -NARS - Sweet Dreams
lenah 9/14/2002 10:07:00 AM
My new favorite pink lipgloss!!! Like the others, i can't believe i waited so long to get this. it's a sheer sparkly pink lipgloss that conjures up thoughts of dolls, sugarplum fairies, and princesses. Did i mention how it lasted through a cup of tea, washing my face, math class, and and additional 5 hours?

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - eyeshadow
lenah 9/12/2002 3:58:00 PM
I got the not just nudes creme eyeshadow palette, and i love it! with my oily lids, they do crease a little, but that can be mostly be eliminated by powdering lids, then applying creme shadow, then lightly dust powder again. but, since these colors are nude, even if they crease on you, atleast it won't show up much. great swipe-on-and-go shadow, no brush/applicators required.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Lash Architect Mascara [DISCONTINUED]
lenah 7/31/2002 1:43:00 PM
ok i take it back. i wrote a good review for this before but i must recall it. the first tube i bought was great after the clumpy messy voluminous. the second tube was a disaster. it clumped like crazy and was difficult to work with. i found it smoother if i dampened my lashes first, then applied it slowly and painfully (it takes like 7 coats to get it perfect). not worth it! sticking to pricey Definicils for sure.
