Fragrances -Crazylibellule and The Poppies - Encens Mystic

Beautiful fragrance (though I admit I am a complete incense junkie). Lasts a while. A less expensive version of CdG Avignon. My only complaint - if I am not careful with the packaging, I inadvertently yank out the entire perfume solid. The packaging is cute, but I don't want to lose everything being careless. That said - I'd travel with this fragrance in a heartbeat. Good stuff.

Treatments -Desert Essence - Dessert Essence Blemish Touch Stick

This stuff is fantastic and gets rid of my blemishes quickly. I also use it as a preventive over my nose and temples (where I seem to get most of my zits). I'm very allergic to Benzoyl Peroxide and Salicytic Acid doesn't seem to do much for my skin. I have used straight tea tree oil before for my blemishes, but this stuff, for whatever reason, seems to work much better.

Huge fan of this product. Use it as my toner and afterwork to help remove the grime of the day. If I'm wearing makeup, I'll use something else to remove the makeup, but this stuff gets the last bits and feels great against my oily, acne-prone skin. Warning: VERY strong smelling.

Shampoo -Alterna - Alterna Age Free Caviar Shampoo
rated 2 of 5
sakecat22 9/11/2007 6:39:00 PM

This was one of those products that the hair salon encouraged me to purchase when they didn't have the Bumble and Bumble I was looking for. My comment - Meh. Smell - herbalish. Makes my hair feel dry and my scalp oily and itchy if I use it every day. I alternate this with Pantene or another shampoo. Nothing spectacular. And for the price - I expect it to at least smell heavenly. Not buying this again.

Tinted Moisturizer -Tarte - Amazonian Clay BB Tinted Mosturizer (Smooth Operator)

I am a HUGE fan of this product. And, strangely, I found that my skin IMPROVED rather than broke out. Shocking, since my skin breaks out all the time and others on the board have had problems with this product. Also love that it has SPF 20, evens out my skin, and I don't feel that weird gunkiness that I get whenever I wear foundation. Great stuff!!!!

Fragrances -Bulgari - Omnia Amethyste

I received a sample of this in my last Sephora shipment. The first spray - black pepper, arugula and grass. Within 5 minutes it had mellowed to black pepper, coriander seed, ginger and sandalwood. Within 10 minutes, it had changed to woods, spicy roses, and a bit of carnation. Within 15 minutes - spicy roses, wood, and a bit of powder. Within 30 minutes it was gone. I liked how this fragrance evolved on me. I just wish there was more time between stages - especially at that price.

Fragrances -Christian Dior - Dior Addict EDP

This is another scent that is in my regular rotation. The top note on me has a strong orange rind / sandalwood / patchouli thing going on. As it evolves, it becomes spicier (strong cinnamon) and woodier (sandalwood). Eventually, it settles into a nice woody vanilla. I tend to wear it when I'm feeling a bit hippie (probably NOT what the perfumier had in mind). This is also a cold weather fragrance. It gives me headaches when I try to wear it in the summer.

Foundations -Philosophy - Philosophy Supernatural 4 in 1 mineral makeup
rated 1 of 5
sakecat22 8/8/2007 2:01:00 PM

I sense I am just not getting the mineral makeup thing. First go at using this product - I used the weird rubber puff on the package - which resulted in strange clumps of powder all over my face. After rewashing my face, reapplying moisturizer and waiting 10 minutes - I tried again - using a large brush. Still clumpy and somewhat shiny looking. I made multiple attempts to use this product - because I refuse to believe I am that incompetent at powder application. Each time, I wound up looking dry and cakey- like I had just applied an entire container of mineral makeup. Within seconds, my skin itched. By the end of the day, I had developed pimples on my chin and temples. Being a glutton for punishment (and having spent good coin on this stuff), I kept trying to use this stuff at least 1x per week over 3 months. Same result each time. I have no idea what I am allergic to in this product. I'm not a huge fan of Bare Escentuals - but at least I can use it without instantly regretting I put it on my face.

Fragrances -Philosophy - Amazing Grace SOLID Perfume
rated 3 of 5
sakecat22 8/8/2007 1:44:00 PM

I'll admit that I prefer vanilla and foodie scents over fresh and floral. Amazing Grace is inoffensive. It reminds me of Bounce dryer sheets. I found the solid picked up a waxy scent after 3 months. Not offensive, just off. More damning - my boyfriend said "This doesn't smell like you."

Fragrances -Philosophy - Falling in Love

My first impression - gaack, too sweet!!!! It grows on you after wearing it a few times. The scent reminds me of Berry Bubblelicious and Coke with a hint of white musk. After a couple of minutes, I find it oddly comforting. More importantly - the boyfriend always mentions how wonderful I smell. It makes a fantastic laundry scent (especially on clothing laundered in Tide / Downy Lavender and Vanilla).

Fragrances -Giorgio Armani - Armani Code for women
rated 3 of 5
sakecat22 8/8/2007 12:36:00 PM

This scent is OK on me - but I wouldn't race out to buy it. Starts smelling like alcohol-based floral toner. Evolves to a fragrance that reminds me of Off Active Sunblock/Bug Repellent (citronella, pine, and Deet). I know this sounds awful - but it's not offensive. I didn't feel I had to wait before venturing outside. Mellows to vanilla, orange blossom, honey and sandalwood after an hour. The fragrance is gone after 5 hours. This weekend, I may go see whether this stuff repells mosquitos....

Cleansers -Aveeno - Ultra-Calming Foaming Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
sakecat22 8/7/2007 11:39:00 PM

Works exactly as advertised. My skin is really happy and feels clean when I use this cleanser. No breakouts or skin irritation after 1 month of use. My skin is a bit drier when I use this vs. the Cetaphil - so I alternate the 2. The foam pump on my bottle got stuck about 1/2 way through the product - so I have to fiddle with it a bit to get the foam out these days... Update: I have found that it removes makeup OK - but mascara requires eye makeup remover BEFORE using the cleanser.

Skincare - Body -Carol's Daughter - Love Butter
rated 3 of 5
sakecat22 8/7/2007 11:28:00 PM

I love cinnamon, but this product reminds me of melted cinnamon candles - both in scent and texture. When I put it on, I feel like I've just been dipped in wax by an over-enthusiastic elf. I think my skin isn't dry enough to be truly helped by this product. Fortunately, my skin isn't hurt by this product either. No breakouts after 1 month - but I've also been too scared to put it anywhere other than my extremities. This is a pricey leg moisturizer.

Treatments -Carol's Daughter - Herbal Rinse/Mist in Black Vanilla
rated 5 of 5
sakecat22 8/7/2007 11:22:00 PM

Smells yummy (of course - I love vanilla-based scents). Doesn't weigh down my hair. Hair looks shinier and healthier. Scalp does not become an itchy mess later in the day. I LOVE this product. I use it every 3rd day.

Hair -Carol's Daughter - Hair Butter
rated 4 of 5
sakecat22 8/7/2007 11:17:00 PM

Even though I have fine, straight, Filipino hair, I find myself using this product as a treatment rather than a styling product. I put about a quarter-sized dollop in my hands, rub them together, stroke my hair (avoiding the scalp), and wrap the whole wet mess in a bun. It smells a lot better than the Ojon treatment and my hair is softer the next day. I wouldn't use it every day and when I tried to use it on dry hair my head looked, and smelled, like it had been dragged through patchouli oil.
