Scrubs -Earth Therapeutics - aloe and kiwi loofah exfoliating scrub
rated 4 of 5

I like this stuff. Within a week, the dry areas left from using bar soap was gone(after all, soap is known to be drying). It has a nice clean scent and it's gentle too. The price is about right, only 7.95 for a tube. But the tube only lasts about a month and that adds up. Still, it's a cost effective alternative to some other scrubs out there and won't leave your skin oily. Not to mention that the absense of salt leaves you free to shave.

Powders -Zia - Face Powder
rated 5 of 5
Selenite 4/6/2003 9:17:00 PM

I love this powder. No animal derived ingredients or testing and the texture is wonderfully soft and silky. A quick application every few hours and my t-zone oilyness is taken care of. It's comes in an interesting metal compact that can be refilled for 9.95. I'll definately buy this again.

Moisturizers -Beauty Without Cruelty - maximum moisture cream
rated 5 of 5
Selenite 4/6/2003 9:07:00 PM

This moisturizer has a beautiful emolliant and creamy texture that performs very nicely. It takes care of my dry spots wonderfully. Another bonus is of course that it's completely cruelty free and reasonably priced around 14.50 for a 2 oz jar. The only problem that I have is that it contains aromatherapy ingredients. While that may be a strong selling point for others, one should realize that most aromatherapy ingredients belong in an incense stick or an oil lamp, not your skin as they could be potentially irritating. But I've had no problem with irritation.

Mascara -Beauty Without Cruelty - full volume mascara
rated 5 of 5
Selenite 4/6/2003 8:59:00 PM

Not only is it free of animal testing and animal ingredients, it's also reasonably priced (about 8.00 at veganstore.com) and performs well. It gives my lashes a nice length without making them freakishly big and fake looking. In other words, like my lashes are just naturally long to start with. I've also found that the black makes them a bit more noticeable.

Foundations -Alexandra deMarkoff - soft velvet matte
rated 4 of 5
Selenite 4/6/2003 8:30:00 PM

I was curious enough about the Alexandra de Markoff foundations to search for them on Ebay. There's no way that I would pay the retail price for this item. It's too expensive and I was lucky enough to buy it for 14.99 off of Ebay. It hasn't caused my young combination skin to break out, spreads evenly and smoothly, lasts long, and leaves no masklike line across my jawline. The only problem that I have is that I have to layer it in order to get the coverage that I want and cover up facial flaws. Other than that, I'm glad that I tried it.

Fragrances -The Body Shop - Perfume Oil
rated 5 of 5
Selenite 3/21/2003 10:28:00 PM

I love this stuff. I'm concerned about the effects of alcohol on the ozone layer and have searched long and hard for a beautiful rose scent. Now Tea Rsoei s *my* characteristic scent. The price is reasonable, the packaging is easily recyclable, and the many scents are classic and lovely. My favorite is of course Tea Rose. They also have a couple of their other fragrances aviable in an alcohol base in oil form such as Oceanus. If you want a simple, lovely scent that's affordable and long lasting, give this a try.

Lipstick -Sinful - Lipstick- Faker

You can find some great things at the drugstore. These lipsticks are smooth and come in colors that go from rich and bold to downright unconventional. What can I say, I love my smooth teal colored lipstick.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Hemp Hand Protector
rated 5 of 5
Selenite 3/17/2003 9:09:00 PM

This is the most emolliant and effective hand lotion I've ever used. Don't be attracted soley by the allure of moisturizing hemp seed oil. It also contains lanolin and glycerin to combat those dry hand woes. I use this nightly with my moisturizing gloves and my dry art student hands are smooth and lovely now.

Scrubs -Totally Juicy - Apricot Facial Scrub
rated 1 of 5
Selenite 3/17/2003 8:58:00 PM

Very affordable and very irritating. I strongly suggest a less abrasive, less fragranced mechanical scrub. Good God, this one left me with skin that according to my relatives, looked as if it had burned.

Liquid -Zia - Foundation in Moonstone
rated 4 of 5
Selenite 3/17/2003 8:53:00 PM

I like this product. I't s vegan(no animal derived ingredients) and has a great texture with an easy streak-free application. But this foundation is only in spf 8 which is dangerous if you aren't wearing any other sunscren product. Moonstone is actually one of the better colors that this comes in but it can give you a bit of an off-color look if you put too much on. It's definitely one to consider especially if you want cruelty free products.
