Mascara -Boots - No7 Maximum Volume Waterproof mascara
yoyocanary 5/31/2009 5:20:00 PM
I have this in black, and I absolutely love it! It coats my lashes well, doesn't smudge, lengthens well, adds volume, holds a curl while still looking natural, and it doesn't have a weird smell. The brush gets every single lash, even the teensy ones I didn't know I had! The color is true black, not too light or anything. I have had absolutely no problems with this mascara. This is one of my favorite mascara purchases Ever.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Colossal
yoyocanary 5/31/2009 5:14:00 PM
While this mascara DOES have that weird smell, it works fantastically on my lashes. It lengthens, volumizes, and I have had zero problems with clumping. I have it it "glam black" and "glam brown", and well...they both look black, but whatever. I like that it makes my lashes look really good without being too over the top, like they don't look fake (if I want to look like I have fake lashes on, I'll just wear fakes!): it gives my lashes a naturally beautiful kind of look. This is one of my favorite mascaras.

Top/Base Coats -Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat
yoyocanary 5/31/2009 5:09:00 PM
This top coat certainly makes my nails shinier and prettier looking, but I find that it often goes on too thick (no matter what I do to try NOT to get it too thick), and it just peels off in a couple of days, or the edges of my nails begin to chip. I blame the edge problems on the fact that I type a lot, so I wouldn't rate this top coat any better than my Orly Won't Chip top coat. To me it's just a top coat. UPDATE: I finally figured out that I was using the product incorrectly. I read directions for it off the website, and it says to let it drop onto your nails and then spread it around while the polish is still wet. I tried that, and it did actually cover better, but the process is difficult. I also got Seche Vite all over my hands. I have not had any chipping (three days though..), but the shine has dulled a bit.

Top/Base Coats -Orly - Bonder Rubberized Basecoat
yoyocanary 5/31/2009 5:05:00 PM
I'm not sure that this base coat really helps keep my nail polish on, but I haven't used it with Orly nail polish at all, and I think that's a small factor in how it works. I find that it doesn't keep my nail polish on for as long as it promises, which is two weeks, no matter which top coat I use or anything. Sometimes the polish even peels off, as some other reviewers have said. One thing I really like about it is the texture of the cap: it's very easy to open, and I have lots of problems opening nail polishes. That is my favorite thing about Orly nail polish! UPDATE: This has actually become my favorite base coat!

Mascara -Too Faced - Lash Injection
yoyocanary 5/26/2009 12:32:00 AM
It makes my lashes look really nice and voluminous and dark and ...perfect. I prefer to wear it for more dramatic looks rather than just everyday kind of simple stuff because it has a pretty dramatic effect on my lashes. I have had absolutely no problems with clumping or smudging or weird smells (I notice smells a lot) or any of kind of negatives, really. It lengthens, but it works better for volumizing, definitely. I sometimes use it in conjunction with Lash Injection PinPoint to add volume and length, and that combo works like a dream, just use the PinPoint on the very tips of the lashes.

Lip Gloss -Bonne Bell - Lip Smacker in Watermelon
yoyocanary 5/26/2009 12:28:00 AM
I've been using these since I was a little kid, and I still absolutely love them. I love the scents, and they really moisturize my lips quite well. I don't understand why others say they don't like them! I really like the Watermelon scent because it's fresh and clean and more grown-up smelling than some of the other ones, but it still has a little sweetness.

Tinted Moisturizer -Stila - Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer
yoyocanary 5/26/2009 12:25:00 AM
It's pretty thick for a tinted moisturizer, but I like that because I feel like it's actually giving my skin some coverage and actually adding extra moisture at the same time (which I like because I have dry skin). I don't find that it makes my face look obnoxiously frosty, just gives a nice, dewy finish. I have very few breakouts, so I often don't need a ton of coverage, and when my skin is happy, this is what I prefer to use just because it makes my skin look pretty without being frosted and shiny and gross. I usually just apply it with my fingers because when I've tried applying it with a brush, I ended up using way too much product, and that's just a waste. So I apply it with my fingers, and it gives me adequate coverage. I still need concealer for under-eye circles and any slight blemishes I might have. With this I find it's better to apply the concealer first (I usually apply concealer after my foundation) just because putting something that isn't illuminating over it makes whatever you put over it more obvious. I love pairing this with Stila's convertible lip/cheek color and MAC MSF natural/shimmer applied with a large powder brush just to add a little more dewy-ness (still not obnoxious).

Crème -Maybelline - Instant Age Rewind Cream Foundation [DISCONTINUED]
yoyocanary 5/26/2009 12:19:00 AM
This foundation is so smooth, and it covers beautifully. When I am in a huge hurry but still want medium-heavy coverage, I grab this and put it on with my fingers, and it still looks fantastic. The finish is smooth and almost airbrushed-looking. It just makes my skin look better. It doesn't irritate, doesn't smell weird, and I LOVE the pump. The formula is thick enough that I can put it on the back of my hand to pick up with my brush without worrying about dripping foundation all over my vanity like some other foundations I have. I can't speak for any anti-aging benefits as my skin is quite young, but it feels like it does good things!

Makeup Brushes -E.L.F. - Eyeshadow Brush
yoyocanary 5/26/2009 12:15:00 AM
This brush applies color perfectly to the lids without making a huge fallout mess, and it's soft, and it's cheap, and I love it. What more can I say?!

Masks -Unlisted Brand - Aspirin Mask
yoyocanary 5/26/2009 12:14:00 AM
I use a honey/aspirin mask about once a week (twice if I'm breaking out), and my skin loves it. What else is there to say? I have pretty dry, unhappy skin most of the time, and the honey really, really makes a huge difference in my skin's moisturization..I guess. The aspirin clears up scarring and any hideous acne spots very effectively without drying my skin, and it exfoliates as an added bonus! My skin feels super smooth after using this. Also, if I'm having a particularly bad breakout, I'll dot calamine onto problem areas after the mask and sleep with that on. It works really well to dry up any "spots" without drying my skin! yay for cheap stuff!

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup
yoyocanary 5/26/2009 12:11:00 AM
After using this for a longer period of time, I find that the foundation is too dry for my skin, and it accentuates all my flaws. The color isn't a good match for me, either (too cool). It's also really thick but too watery at the same time, and I have difficulty blending it into my skin without looking like I have foundation caked on my face (again, it's too dry). The smell is awful, too. I definitely would not repurchase.

Eye Shadow -NYX - Chick
yoyocanary 5/16/2009 4:10:00 PM
I bought this hoping it would be a gorgeous bright yellow, but no, it's not. It goes on my lids very sheer on its own, just giving a slight wash of color, and when I use it with a primer or any other base, it looks chunky, like mold. I see all these good reviews for it, and I'm like "why doesn't it work for me?!" Oh well. Perhaps I'll swap it!

Bronzers -New York Color - Smooth Skin Bronzing Face Powder in Sunny 720
yoyocanary 5/16/2009 4:04:00 PM
I bought this bronzer to use as my contour since I cannot find a good bronzer without some kind of shimmer in it. I have been using it for a few weeks, and I love it. It's not too dry, doesn't feel heavy, and doesn't need to be reapplied a million times. It gives me what I want if I use a light hand. I use a very small, tapered blush brush with it and just tap the brush in the product, and it works perfectly. Love!
