Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Coconut Body Butter
junomacguff 11/30/2009 12:42:00 AM
Although this is too greasy for my super dry hands, I love it for my even drier feet! I'm in socks pretty much 24/7 so my feet get super dry. I slather this body butter on overnight under a pair of socks and by morning my feet look 10 times better. Not a fake coconut scent either like so many Bath and Body Works scents, it's a faint natural scent.

This smelled wonderful and foamed nicely but ultimately caused my chest to breakout.

Lip Treatments -Chapstick - Lip Moisturizer SPF 15 Vanilla Mint

My lips had been super dry all summer long with flakiness around the edges. I had trien many lipbalms and even my HG Kiehls lipbalm wans't even making a difference. I decided to purchase this on a whim as it was next to the checkout at Walgreens and I'm glad I did! I've been using for about 2 weeks and the dryness is completely gone. My lips are actually smooth! I'm so relieved that I was able to get my lips healed before the dry, cold winter.

This is one of my all time favorites for anytime of year. Not a heady floral like Marc Jacobs or Michael Kors, much more understated to me. I can definitely smell the jasmine in it and softer notes of tuberose, 2 of my favorite scents. This is a must have for any fragrance wardrobe.

Powder -Merle Norman - Luxiva Purely Mineral Makeup
junomacguff 11/26/2009 7:20:00 PM
The 2nd lightest color was a decent match, not too pink but a tad dark. I buffed it on with my Trish McEvoy powder brush and ewww!! I was so shimmery not to mention that my pores and fine lines were very accentuated. The only good thing is that it didn't make me itchy. Much prefer Clinique's Almost Makeup Powder foundation for powder foundations or my new HG Estee Lauder Double Wear light.

Liquid -Estee Lauder - Double Wear LIGHT Foundation SPF10
junomacguff 11/23/2009 11:53:00 PM
Finally!! I've been looking for a foundation that doesn't need a powder to set it but isn't too matte and this is the one. The lightest shade works pretty well on me, wish it were a tad less pink since I'm warmer but still a good color. It covers my rosacea very well without being thick or cakey. I apply it with a slightly damp sponge and the finish is slightly glowy but not shiny. HG material!

Lip Gloss -Laura Mercier - Ambre Rose Glace
junomacguff 11/23/2009 11:51:00 PM
This is the color I've always been looking for! I'm very pale with blonde hair and green eyes. This looks awesome with my usual Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Shadow in Sandy Gold. Also, this gloss hydrates my super dry lips better than most lip balms and it smells wonderful. Love it!

Moisturizers -Laura Mercier - Mega-Moisturizing cream with SPF 15
junomacguff 10/3/2009 11:24:00 AM
I decided to try this since I've been loving Laura's Silk Creme foundation. This moisturizer isn't very rich at all, definitely doesn't live up to the Mega name. My face felt oily but dry at the same time, I've not had that happen before. And it did sting my face a little but I'm very sensitive. Also the sunscreen isn't photo-stable.

Styling Products -Shu Uemura - Sheer Lacquer Finishing Spray

I haven't owned hairspray in years but after cutting my hair into a bob again, I needed some and this is what my stylist rec'd. It's smells wonderful, isn't sticky or heavy, and makes my hair shiny. What else could I ask for? It does have cones, dimethicone and cyclopentosiloxane b/c I know someone will ask. :)

I received a sample of this with my Saks GWP and loved it immediately, it's the kind of scent that just gets better throughout the day. Saks.com says it's a floral oriental which makes sense, Chanel Allure is too and it's been my HG for over 10 years. It's a great fall/winter scent as it's very warm like Donna Karan's Cashmere Mist but less powdery and more floral. It's not sharp like Thierry Mugler's Angel which I can identify from 10 yards away. The bottle is really pretty, I prefer dark glass to keep the light from breaking the oils down. $110 for 3.4 oz, so it's a little more expensive than what I'd usually pay but it'll last forever and DH even liked it.

Lip Gloss -Stila - Kitten Lip Glaze
junomacguff 9/26/2009 5:33:00 AM
I bought this at Ulta yesterday since I used to love the Kitten eyeshadow. I love the color of this gloss which is described as "nude pink shimmer". On me it's a tad warmer colored which suits my coloring very well, I have yellow undertones. I'm very pale so this gloss shows up better and looks great with minimal makeup but you still looked polished. It's a tad sticky but less so than MAC's lipglass and the shimmer is small enough that you don't feel it on your lips. It lasted surprisingly well while drinking from a straw and I love the brush applicator that Stila lipglosses have. I paired this with Bobbi Brown's Bronzed Pink eyeshadow and a little mascara yesterday, loved the look.

Styling Products -Kerastase - Nectar Thermique
junomacguff 8/26/2009 12:46:00 AM
I can't believe I haven't reviewed this!! I've been using it for over 2 months and love it. I can either use it as a leave-in conditioner to air dry or I layer it under Oleo Relax Slim Creme for blow drying. I did try the Ciment Thermique which I didn't like at all but I think it's supposed to be for more damaged hair whereas Nectar is for drier hair. Several people say they don't like the scent which is a bit strong but I don't mind it, reminds me of Lancome Tresor from back in the day. This has taken over as my HG leave-in conditioner and I use it pretty much everyday on my fine/wavy/fuzzball hair.

Treatments -Shu Uemura - Essence Absolue
junomacguff 8/26/2009 12:39:00 AM
Stylist used this on my hair when I had it highlighted and cut the other day, I was shocked at the results. My hair felt so silky and very shiny which is unusual for my hair. She said that it can be used as a pre-shampoo treatment, on wet hair before blowdrying, and as a finishing product to smooth the lengths of my hair. Will update after I used this for a while, just wanted to include the ingredients list in case anyone was curious: Ingredients: cyclopentsiloxane, dimethiconol, camellia kissi/camellia kissi seed oil, ethylhexylmethoxycinnamate, butylphenyl methylpropional, hexyl cinnamal, hydroxycitronellal, parfum/fragrance. It's very pricey, $48 for about 5 oz. but it should last forever since so little is needed each use. 3/20/10: Still my absolute HG! Have been using since early fall and am not even 1/3 way through the bottle.

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Matte Foundation spf 15
junomacguff 8/21/2009 6:20:00 AM
I tried this in Fairly Light which was oddly golden almost to the point of being orange on me. I tried it over my usual moisturizer, Cerave lotion, and it was streaky at best. It didn't blend well at all. So after suggestions from the skinboard, I tried it over my MAC Prep and Prime with the same results. Blotchy, streaky mess that I had to wash off because it looked so bad. I returned it and repurchased the Laura Mercier MMU that is a great match for my skintone and all around a far superior product.

Tinted Moisturizer -Laura Mercier - Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 - Illuminating
junomacguff 8/19/2009 5:23:00 PM
I bought this in Bare which was still too dark for my NC15/N3 skin tone. It did go on nicely, very smooth and easy to blend. But it is sparkly! Not like big sparkles, more like a allover frosting of shimmer. I applied some Laura Mercier loose powder over top to see if that would tone it down which it did a tad, but it was still to glittery. Looks like this one will be going back. (BTW, the sunscreen in it is NOT photo-stable since it's avobenzene and octinoxate.)
