Brows -Clinique - Brow Keeper
sarahbella1012 6/1/2005 4:57:00 PM
This is my HG brow filler. I am a brunette, but find brunette pencils too dark, so I use "honey". This has been a staple for me since it first hit the shelves, so to speak. I prefer it to Clinique's superfine and Origins version of the same. You also get more product for the price in this version. It provides a completely natural look and does not apply overly waxy. Rave! Rave!

Makeup Brushes -Mary Kay - MK Signature Brush Set
sarahbella1012 5/25/2005 1:52:00 PM
This brush set is truly the best! If the $45 price tag scares you off, just look for them on eBay. I think I paid $20-25. These brushes are SO soft and the faux leather roll up case is so handy for keeping them contained. I have cleaned a few of them already with no problems. I anticipate having them for years with the proper care.

Makeup Brushes -Mary Kay - Retractable makeup brush
sarahbella1012 5/25/2005 1:47:00 PM
I don't see needing another one of these, but this brush is PERFECT for travel or to stash in the purse for a mid-day touch up. LOVE IT! I found it on eBay for $3 - regular price is $10. I am considering buying them as gifts for mom and friends...

Eyeliner -MAC - Fluidline Eyeliner Gel Dipdown
sarahbella1012 5/25/2005 1:36:00 PM
Ok, I hate to be the one to hate this product since so many love it, but I feel it gives me too harsh a line and the color appears black rather than a chocolate brown when applied (hazel eyes, NW20 skin). I practiced for days with my MAC brush and still, it just looked too harsh. I marched it back to the MAC counter. The MA was very surprised that I did not care for it but said he understood that I wanted a softer look for summer time. So why the MA originally recommended this is beyond me. Be wary of MA's who think every single product is "wonderful" without really telling you anything about it. I am sure this product delivers a superb cat eye look. It's just not for me. I gave it two lippies because it has great staying power.

Eyeliner -MAC - Powerpoint - Duck
sarahbella1012 5/25/2005 1:30:00 PM
I found this eyeliner after returning my Fluidline and fell in love. The greyish-taupe color gives me a soft look, similar to that of the Clinique water resistant cake-style liner without all of the mess. Perfect for daytime. I'd go more dramatic for evening. Its staying power is phenomenal. I am a convert and can't wait to try more colors!

Eye Shadow -Bare Escentuals - Well Rested
sarahbella1012 5/25/2005 1:13:00 PM
I doubt I will ever run out of this. I am impressed by its ability to lighten the dark cirlces without settling into fine lines. I can even use it after applying my MAC Studio Stick Concealor. I also swipe it on the eyelid before adding a color shadow. TONS of product for the money considering you only need a teeny bit. This is a keeper! I wish the rest of the BE line worked as well for me! UPDATE - 8/10/05: This is HANDS DOWN the best product purchase of the year for me. I am still loving it!

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Bare Minerals Foundation #2
sarahbella1012 5/25/2005 1:10:00 PM
I decided to try this after being intrigued by the many infomercials and after having seen it on a friend. I must say I did not care for it at all after trying to work with it for over 2 weeks. The colors were difficult to mix to the right shade (frankly I don't have the time at 6:45 am) and I felt like the foundation itself sat in my pores, making them appear 10 times larger than what they are. YUCK! Plus, no one seemed to comment on my face other than my BF who said I looked "greasy" (I may have OD'd on the Mineral Veil - terrible product!)I have severely dry skin, so I knew I was not greasy. I am going back to my Prescriptives Traceless and sending this packing!

Blush -Bare Escentuals - Glee/ all over face color
sarahbella1012 5/25/2005 1:05:00 PM
While I did not like the BE foundation, I did order a sample of Glee off of eBay. This is super natural and subtle, yet lasts. I LOVE to try new things though, so I probably won't re-buy. You get LOTS in the full size container.

Lip Gloss -Bath and Body Works - Goldie lip gloss
sarahbella1012 5/17/2005 9:59:00 AM
I purchased "naked" which is the perfect neutral. It's sheer, yet pigmented, sticky, but not too tacky (a la Bobbi Brown glosses) and yes, it actually LASTS! I've worn it every day for 3 days before writing a review. Also, the packaging is quite a nice size for the $14 price. I've paid more for less plenty of times. I love this color, it can be worn in any season. I just swipe on a lip liner (Estee Lauder Fig) underneath and voila! Good to go. I've also received a ton of compliments on the shine of this product. UPDATE: 7/20/05 - I cannot take the smell of this gloss! I have taken away a lippie. I will not repurchase. UPDATE #2: Okay, I repurchased in Brownie and love the color. It is a little more "there" than Naked without being overly pigmented or brown. Very neutral. The smell doesn't seem as strong on this tube...I am keeping my fingers crossed!

Bronzers -Wet 'n' Wild - Acapulco Glow
sarahbella1012 5/13/2005 8:49:00 AM
This bronzer is more of a light golden color versus the orange or tan color like so many others. The powder is very light and leaves a beautiful sheen on the skin (I am NW20 with brown highlighted hair, hazel eyes). I have very dry skin and was skeptical, which is why I went with this inexpensive brand. It does not contain obvious sparkles or shimmer. I am much happier with this than my Shisedo bronzer compact. This is a keeper and will be useful ANY time of the year!

Concealers -MAC - Studio stick concealer [DISCONTINUED]
sarahbella1012 5/10/2005 4:16:00 PM
I bought this when I was looking for something on the lighter side to conceal dark circles without settling into the few fine lines I have (I am NW20, age 30). This is the perfect concealer to stash in the purse (sleek and petite tube) and the formula delivers. I would not recommend this for covering blemishes, but it works wonderfully for my dark circles. It's also very affordable.

Lip Gloss -Mary Kay - Lip Gloss- Almond Glaze (#3145)
sarahbella1012 5/10/2005 4:10:00 PM
This is my second tube and I am glad I repurchased. Not too brown on my NW20 skin and lots of shine and staying power - even more so w/lipliner. This is a great neutal. The packaging is just ok (kind of ugly) and I think the wand applicators tend to remove as much product as they put on somtimes. I prefer to buy these on ebay and avoid the $12 price tag.

Tinted Moisturizer -Stila - Sheer Color Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15
sarahbella1012 5/10/2005 4:01:00 PM
I tried this as a free sample with my order from Stila in the new color, Tone. While the color matched my skin beautifully, I felt like it was very thick for being a tinted moisturizer and it left my face looking too shiny. I felt like my dry skin took on an almost oily look, as compared to my MAC Hyper Real, Prescriptives Traceless or even the Stila Illuminating Foundation. I will not purchase this and will be tossing the sample.

Lip Gloss -Stila - blush shine
sarahbella1012 5/10/2005 3:56:00 PM
I was so hopeful when I saw that Stila had changed the packaging on this favorite gloss, but was soon dissapointed by what I received. You have to push and push on the tube to get the product out and once dispersed it is uneven and gloppy. Also, it appears that the color of "blush shine" has darkened over the years. It used to be a beautiful pinky peach on me and this looked like orange mud. I had not ordered the product in some time due to my frustrations with the messy tube. I will not even think about purchasing it again. New does not mean improved!

Highlighters -Prescriptives - Magic Illuminating Liquid Potion [DISCONTINUED]
sarahbella1012 4/14/2005 1:44:00 PM
I really like this product and am on my third bottle, despite the fact that so many foundations are illuminating these days. It has no smell and the texture is very light, which works well for my dry skin. I wear it alone in the summer and gives the nicest subtle glow. The packaging, the werid spatula and the price ($30US) are definite minuses, but the soft glow that this gives is unmatched and is the only highlighter I have found that does not interfere with the color of my make-up. I've tried cheaper versions, but have not cared for them. The bottle lasts FOREVER.
