Cleansers -Neutrogena - Acne Stress Control 3 in 1
VegetaFanGirl 12/12/2011 3:43:00 PM
Great cleanser! Unlike the pink grapefruit wash, this one is an effective wash. I actually like the chemical smell of cleansers because the grapefruit one sickened me. It hydrates, removes acne, and if you keep loyally using it twice a day, it will do wonders for your face. If you even miss one wash....bad things happen :O It doesn't remove acne scars :P but those can be concealed no problem. $6 for a tiny 1 ounce bottle tho.....it's still a good price to pay for clearer skin ^^
Okay cleanser. It didn't do much for my acne, so I really don't want to buy it again. If you get it into your cuts or wounds it stings soooo bad! Also, I found out it's quite easy to impale the tube with a hairbrush. On the good part, it is very moisturizing and the bead-thingies do give a nice "massage" to the face. I would have rated this higher if it only worked on my acne.
I liked this eyeshadow at first, but after using it with several looks, I realized that this color did not go well with my skin tone, which has olive-yellow undertones. The color of this eyeshadow is more of a red-brown, so you can imagine how that clashes. I really hate to bring this down to 2 stars, when originally I had rated it 5 stars. The quality of the shadow is okay- it is pressed tightly into its packaging so it crumbles when you pick it up on the brush. And idk if it's just me, but the shadow seems to stick to my eyeshadow brush. More than normal. It's kinda weird...So you do get a bit of fallout. The staying power is okay, and it's got a nice satin finish to it. The price is okay, around $5, and you get a lot of product. However, I'm just not loving the color.
Treatments -Clean & Clear - Advantage Acne Spot Treatment
VegetaFanGirl 11/30/2011 6:15:00 PM
I saw the commercials where "100% of people got clearer skin in just one day" so I fell for it and bought this. It does not give you clearer skin in one day. Rather it actually irritates your acne and makes it worse almost immediately after applying! Well, that's my case, anyway. So I got clearer skin in three days, but new acne popped up and it's the same cycle. Honestly, it just is a pointless struggle. I don't recommend this to anyone- it just makes your acne look even redder and angrier.
Eyeliner -Cover Girl - Exact Eyelights Eyeliner - Radiant Sapphire
VegetaFanGirl 11/30/2011 6:06:00 PM
Okay dark blue liner. It does not enhance the eyes very well but it still looks good. That's probably because I do not have the correct prerequisite eye color, though. It's not very good for the waterline- instantly washes away. It glides on relatively smoothly, but the color intensity takes a few tries to build up. That, for me, kind of is a time waster. I love that it's got a retractable quality to it, so that's one less liner to sharpen. It does break easily and the packaging breaks easily too (the twisting thing broke so now I have a hard time with it not sliding out back and forth), so I would not really suggest it if your liner will face a possibility of being dropped multiple times. The price is okay, like $7 and you get a good amount of it. Overall, it is a decent eyeliner, nothing special though.
EDIT: I have used this lip product for about a year now, and I am loving it more as I use it more. This is a nice lipstick-type product- it is very creamy and rich. Despite this, it is a sheer lipcolor, which is nice if you are not one who always goes for statement lips (me). It is a very wearable color- it hardly shows up on the lips, but when you swatch it, it is a peachy-orange lipcolor with a hint of shimmer. It is more shiny when you apply it to the lips. This product does need reappying often, but other than that, it is a great product and a very nice, wearable color. Plus, I got one for a little more than $1!
Eyeliner -Mally Beauty - Waterproof Evercolor Starlight eyeliners
VegetaFanGirl 11/28/2011 3:26:00 PM
I have the Starlight liner in Ice Blue and it is a gorgeous eyeliner! It is a beautiful satin-finish pencil liner. It is a little bit on the thick side when it comes to the pencil, so don't expect a super fine line from this product. What I find annoying is that you must sharpen it and I hate to ruin the metallic packaging that it's in. Also, it takes a few tries to get good color payoff. What I really love is that it has incredible staying power, even without primer! I wore this on a 64-hour journey involving airports, planes, no sleep and no touchups and it almost perfectly stayed on! That seriously impressed me. It is a little bit on the pricey side, $20, but nothing that's too expensive. I would definetely say it's worth it!
This is my favorite nail color. It is such a gorgeous navy blue! I honestly think that this is a clear duplicate of OPI Russian Navy. It is a beautiful color with a shiny finish. With a good topcoat, it has great staying power. You only need 2 coats to get it to be completely opaque, but it does take a bit to dry. For $9, it is amazing!!
Blush -Maybelline - Dream mousse blush in soft plum [DISCONTINUED]
VegetaFanGirl 11/28/2011 3:13:00 PM
*EDIT* I felt horrible when I found out that they were discontinuing these. These blushes have amazing consistency, colors, and they were really just something special. The price is so-so, around $6, usual for a drugstore blush. I have had this blush for around 2 years and I still am not even close to having it run out! Plus, they don't dry out. Soft Plum looks amazing with my skin tone, very fresh and innocent type of look. Their staying power is also super-awesome- the blush kind of adheres to your skin and stays there until you take it off. Really a gem in the drugstore beauty industry, and it's- dammit- gone. :(
I have oily-combo skin, and this foundation worked. It does not rub off or smudge or run until you take it off with a simple makeup remover or face wash. I don't know if it's waterproof- but it does a good job during the day! I also love the price- only $6. That's really something- it's not easy to find a foundation that works great for $6! I am in love with the little rectangular glass, eh, box that they put the foundation in. It's a bit hard to match yourself with the right color, though- some of them are pink-undertoned, others are yellow-undertoned, and it took me three tries to find my exact color. It does have a strong smell, though. However I don't understand the deal with it being "gel makeup". It feels just like any other foundation I've ever owned.
Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Expertwear 8 Shadow Pan - Twilight Rays
VegetaFanGirl 11/28/2011 2:56:00 PM
*EDIT* I don't like this shadow very much- it's honestly very crumbly and chalky. I thought it was awesome when I first used it, but then again, this was my very first set of eyeshadows so of course I loved it! The pigmentation isn't awesome when used with a brush- when I swatch it with my fingers, it looks fine. When I put it on with a brush, it looks terribly underdone. It blends super sheer and it isn't buildable at all. It comes in three types of finishes, matte, satin and metallic. The metallic is kind of okay, but the matte and satin are terrible. It creases, feels chalky, and is just terrible quality in general. I paid $8 for this, and I won't be repurchasing this set.
Not the world's best mascara, but it is one you could grow to like over time. It actually makes my lashes look naturally full and volumized, which I do like. It is also a nice, dark shade of black. The formula is also very smooth for a mascara and does go on nicely. The wand, though, is a tricky one to use. It carries quite a bit of product and it's easy to get the product onto your eyelids. The bristles are also extremely thick, so the brush eats most of the product rather than actually disposing it onto the lashes. I have had a little bit of flaking with this product, but it doesn't smudge as far as I know and stays on well. For $25, it is okay, but I can find better ones for that price.
Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Color Icon Trio - Silent Treatment
VegetaFanGirl 11/28/2011 2:34:00 PM
I have been pleased with Wet N Wild before, but they have outdone themselves here! I absolutely adore this trio. Silent Treatment comes with a gorgeous metallic-ish taupe color for the eyelid, a black-brown for the crease (honestly, it's too dark for the crease, so I use it as liner), and a lovely light pink for the highlight. I love the quality of these eyeshadows! They are very smooth and silky and easy to apply. Plus, they blend like a dream. Fallout is very minimal here, and with a good primer, they stay on perfectly all day. Plus, they are wearable enough for everyday OR night looks! The price here is just unbelievable- only $3!! For $3, what more could you want? :)
Eye Shadow -Rimmel - Underground Stir It Up Eyeshadow in Out of the Blue
VegetaFanGirl 11/28/2011 2:24:00 PM
I have never been more disappointed in my life than I have been with this product. I was super attracted to it because of the fact that it had such a gorgeous array of colors. When I tried to use it, it turned out to be a cream product with powder shadows on top. I mean, da hell? Why would Rimmel trick us like that? Also, it creased like HELL. Literally, after three blinks, it pretty much disappeared into my crease line. Not cool. I did not bother to keep it on any longer to see how well it "stays on". For the $8, completely not worth it.
Mascara -Essence - Multi Action False Lash Effect Mascara
VegetaFanGirl 11/27/2011 8:38:00 PM
This was an impulse buy at ULTA, and I like what it did for $3. This mascara gives good volume and length, so I am quite pleased with the results. It actually did make it look like I had false lashes on! I was not a huge fan of the wand. They had a wand concept I've never seen before- it was a rubber bristles, but it looks exactly like a wire wand. It is also kind of big and harbors a lot of product, so watch out for clumping. It also does flake a lot. But hey, it is a good product for $3.
