It's been years since I tried any Revlon products, and now I remember why - their color choices are HORRIBLE. I bought this foundation for oily/combination skin in Buff and it looked grey on my skin. It also had no coverage, so I could see every imperfection through the grey veil. This is just awful stuff.
Powder -Neutrogena - Neutrogena Fresh Finish loose powder
KingTaco 3/2/2008 12:43:00 AM
I love this stuff - it makes my oil slick of a face matte and smooth, with or without foundation. It fades after a while, but with my super-oily skin that's a given. The powder lasts for months, making it really economical. I never have to worry about streaking or clumping or clogging with Neutrogena products. My biggest complaint is with the lid - it's constantly breaking and I have to tape it up, tacky! Also, the powder sometimes gets stuck in the sifter holes and I have to take it out and clean it out so the powder can flow through. All-in-all, another great product at a great price from Neutrogena.
I love this trio of lip colors - the colors are shiny and long-lasting in very luxurious packaging. I really dislike the brush that accompanies it, but that's easily replaced.
Really nice gloss, but I'm not keen on the lighter color since it's too sheer. The colors don't have a lot of staying power, but they are nice and moisturizing.
Treatments -Avon - Nail Experts Advanced Mira Cuticles
KingTaco 2/19/2008 1:43:00 AM
I love love love this stuff. I have nasty cuticles and hangnails, but using this stuff makes all the difference in the world. After repeated use, the cuticles kind of disappear and I stop getting hangnails. It works so well, that I forget to use it sometimes! When I use it again, the difference in my cuticles is immediately noticeable.
Conditioner -Avon - Planet Spa Mediterranean Olive Oil Conditioning Hair Mask
KingTaco 2/19/2008 1:41:00 AM
This is great for my chemically-treated hair. I use it every now and again - it's definitely too thick for an everyday conditioner, but fantastic for a deep treatment. I really like the smell too. I stock up when ever it's on sale.
Eyeliner -Avon - Glimmersticks Eyeliner in Cosmic Brown
KingTaco 2/19/2008 1:38:00 AM
This is my HG eyeliner. I recently decided to go upmarket and spend more money on eyeliner, but compared to Glimmersticks, it was awful. And expensive. This stuff goes on smoothly without tugging and the color stays true. I can smudge it if I want, or leave it as a sharp line.
I love this stuff - I have oily skin and this takes off my makeup and leaves my skin clean without stripping it dry. I especially like the cool tingly feeling at the end. A little bit goes a long way. I don't like the squeeze tube since it leaves a lot of product in when I'm nearly finished with the tube. Price is great when you can get them on sale.
This is a great glossy lipstick. The color doesn't fade as quickly as regular glosses do, but re-application is needed. The range of colors isn't the best though - I think there are only a couple of colors that aren't too matronly.
Moisturizers -Avon - Beautifully Protected Daily UV Moisturizer SPF 30
KingTaco 2/19/2008 1:23:00 AM
This lotion leaves my already-oily skin pretty shiny, but it doesn't make me break out. I like having SPF 30 when I'm out and about in the summer, so a bit of shininess is a trade-off for the great sun protection.
Nice idea of a compact foundation, but this stuff is awful for oily skin. It streaks and gets cakey where I would just normally have break-through shine.
Powder -Everyday Minerals - Foundation Matte Formula
KingTaco 2/12/2008 11:22:00 PM
I can tell the make-up is good, and probably a solution to my foundation problems (I have very oily skin and foundation melts off by lunchtime), but I cannot find a match. I've ordered sample kit upon sample kit, I've mixed and mixed and mixed, but I just cannot get a good match (I'm probably NC20). The powders are either too white and chalky, or too dark and get darker with break-through shine. I'm in absolute awe of women who get mineral make-up right. I don't know how they do it.
This is the first time I've ever used a foundation brush, and I'm glad I got a good one! It's nice to hold, the bristles are soft yet don't fall off, and it gives fantastic coverage. I said "yes" I would buy it again, but I don't think I'll need to since it's held up really well.
Treatments (Eye) -Avon - Lighten Up Undereye Treatment
KingTaco 1/27/2008 7:35:00 PM
This stuff works miracles on my undereye circles. Even if it didn't, I would still buy it for the light creaminess of this product. It absorbs fast without being heavy or sticky. I especially love the ridiculously low prices - 2/$15 when it's on sale.
This blush is the absolute best color, ever. It's subtle, soft, and doesn't fade out, and the product lasts forever- I'd pay ten times the cost for it. The packaging sucks though. The tiny strip of color is tough to get on the brush (I use a MAC blush brush for it), but it's worth the effort. I also love the smell of Cover Girl - it's so old-fashioned and makeup-y
