Shampoo -Matrix - Volumatherapie

I love this shampoo. Cone free, not stripping, light scent, no residue. Espcially good with the matching conditioner or the original Conditioning Balm.

Great conditioner with NO cones or heavy waxes. No terrible scent, no buildup, and really does condition well. Wish it was a little cheaper...the price is a bit outrageous. My hair is wavy and fine, color treated.

Sunscreen -Hawaiian Tropic - Hawaiian Tropic Oil-Free Faces SPF 30, Sheer Reflections Formula [DISCONTINUED]
DKER 7/3/2006 10:47:00 AM
The first time I tried it, this sunscreen BURNED the snot out of my face. Otherwise, this is a very nice sunscreen. Very matte, no whiteness, cheap, and decent UVA protection for the US. In fact, it has the best finish of nearly any ss I have ever tried. Which is why I tried it again after stopping retinoids. My skin was able to tolerate using this when I wasn't using Differin, and now I LOVE it. With regular use, I found I was able to apply MORE than the recommended amount to my skin. Sometimes it still stings a little and makes me flush (I do not have this problem normally), but it's tolerable, not like the extreme pain I experienced before. And over time I have found that my skin tone evened out with this....it has truly proved itself to be a great sunscreen over the course of a full year of use.

Sunscreen -Bioderma - Photoderm MAX Lait SPF 50 PPD 35
DKER 6/14/2006 7:03:00 PM
Well. I am really unsure how I feel about this sunscreen. I am using the lastest version, which is the one without MBC and with alcohol. This has a minor white cast, easily fixed with powder or bronzer or self-tanner. It dries pretty matte. It has good staying power and a labeled ppd of 35. Now, I used it over Memorial Day weekend taking the family to the pool. I did not lay out in the sun, wore a hat, and was mostly in the shade since the pool was not heated and nobody could stand to get into the 68 fdegree water. The next day, I noticed my melasma had darkened. I have spent longer time out in direct sunlight with Avene ss on and not had this happen. Also, on both occasions I used this sunscreen I got cystic pimples a day or so afterwards. Update: I think my darkening was due to hormonal causes. So I re-tried this sunscreen again before taking a bike ride. Within 15 minutes, it had started to pool up and slide off. I do expect a sunscreen this costly to stay on my face a little longer than that---most of the time a person needs this high of protection it will be hot enough to sweat a little!

Cleansers -Dove - Beauty Bar - Sensitive Skin
DKER 6/1/2006 10:23:00 PM
For oily acne prone skin, this is amazing. Yes, it can be drying....but if you NEED help drying up body breakouts and excess oil, this is the thing for you. I have used it for face and body with no complaints at all. No irritation, no stripping, no clogged pores. I would never have tried this if not for MUA....I am SO thankful I found it!! It has saved me lotsa money.

Lotions/ Creams -Aveeno - Baby Daily Moisture Lotion

I have lost track of how many tubes of this I have gone through...it leaves my skin soft and never slick or greasy. Never caused a pimple or clogged pore either. I will continue to buy this as long as they make it.

Cleansers -Olay - Age Defying Daily Renewal Cleanser
DKER 5/21/2006 4:00:00 PM
This OoO Cleanser seems to get much less hype than the other Olay cleansers, but I think its one of the best drugstore cleansers on the market. It has low lather, BHA and exfoliating particles in it. I found it a little harsh to use 2x a day, every day because of the exfoliating beads, but its still one of my favorite clenasers for my oily, acne-prone skin. Cleans well, takes off makeup, exfoliates a bit, and leaves skin soft, not dried out. I hope they NEVER discontinue this!!

Sunscreen -Neutrogena - Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 55
DKER 5/20/2006 9:13:00 PM
Streaky, white cast, impossible to do anything about white cast because it pills up and rolls off my face if I even touch it with a powder brush or put anything at all on underneath. Also gave me a nice large zit.

Pressed Powders -Physicians Formula - Mineral Wear Mineral Face Powder
DKER 5/13/2006 8:00:00 PM
I got the loose in Buff Beige and the pressed in Translucent light. The BB seems a little dark on me. I also tried the Creamy Natural and it was waay too pink. The TL pressed is perfect though. On me, it gives light coverage, just evens out skin tone. I am close to a MAC NC25/C2ish (LLL that is hard to match) and it matches OK. I apply a light dusting of this over sunscreen. I like the application of the pressed better than the loose....its so much easier to just swirl my brush lightly over the compact and then tap off the excess in the lid. The shaker is a real PITA. If I keep it, I'll have to find something I can dump it into so I can get my Kabuki brush in there and swirl it. Update: I do think that using the pressed regularly has helped keep my skin clearer!!

Sunscreen -Vichy - Capital Soleil Lait-Gel SPF 60
DKER 4/12/2006 12:51:00 PM
I didn't see any reviews for this so here was my experience with the sample I had. I used it 3 days in a row. It left a sticky but fairly matte finish (for a sunscreen) with no white cast. With a light dusting of powder it was perfectly acceptable for daily use. However, on the 3rd day I developed a cystic type pimple, as well as a couple of clogged pores. I think this sunscreen would be nice for someone with dryish-combo skin that was not at all acne-prone.

Sunscreen -Avene - Ultra High Protection Spray 50 plus
DKER 2/8/2006 10:50:00 PM
Pros: Has Tinosorb, no avobenzone, good UVA protection and no stinging/burning, dries to a semi-matte finish. Cons: white cast, very strong fragrance, cost. Can get streaky after a few hours. This is a very runny sunscreen, I measured out a full 1/4 tsp to use. The fragrance is very strong, but seems to dissipate quickly after application. With other frgranced products I can smell them on me hours after using, but this just seems to fade away. Raised to 4: Used up 1/2 the bottle on my face and no breakouts..I figured out how to apply it without streaking and it looks OK with a light dusting of mineral makeup over top. Update: Over the past few months, I have noticed that when I use this sunscreen with mineral makeup over top and for a few days my skin starts looking better...smoother and less clogged pores. It's a subtle difference, like the way my skin usually is if I just don't wear any sunscreen at all. So I'm upping this to a 5 for being the only high PPD sunscreen that absolutely does not irritate my skin or contribute at all to my acne. UPDATE MAY 2007 : Back to a 3. My new bottle is MUCH shinier than the last one. Unwearable without blotting, which takes away some of the protection. Pity that they had to change the formula---and if they didn't, what a poor quality control process!

Moisturizers -Kiss My Face - Ultra Light Facial Creme Normal/Oily
DKER 1/25/2006 9:52:00 AM
I have already repurchased this twice. It is a wonderful basic non-spf moisturizer for oily skin. It has a lot of natural essential oils in it which are slightly antibacterial and so effective against acne as well. The smell to me is lovely and refreshing, and wears off very quickly after application. The hygeinic pump bottle is a plus too.

Sunscreen -La Roche Posay - Hydraphase UV SPF 30
DKER 1/23/2006 9:15:00 AM
I originally got this because I though the UVA protection was the same as the Euro version, but have since found out that its only a ppd of about 8-10. Its not any better than what you can find in the US. The product itself is an emmollient cream that leaves a small amount of shine, white cast, and minimal stickiness. Yes, its more cosmetically elegant than other Euro SS, but its nowhere near as nice as Coppertone Oil-free, which has about the same UVA protection, and only costs about $10 USD for 8 ounces. I wouldn't recommend that anyone in the US go to the cost and bother of ordering this....you can easily find better ss here with equal UVA protection.
