Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter in Creme Brulee

This was described quite accurately by the reviewer below. This is a pretty, sheer, moisturizing bronzey color. Feels lovely on and is a good nude.

Lotions/ Creams -Desert Essence - Pumpkin Hand Repair Cream
chayaNY 11/18/2011 8:11:00 PM
This has everything I want in a handcream! Its very moisturizing and leaves hands looking better instantly. They retain a sheen yet fingertips aren't greasy. Cuticles look so much better too. There is no faux pumpkin scent like a spiced candle. It is a fresher scent but honestly in my opinion its quite mild. I only smell it if I really sniff my hands. I love that its organic, vegan, cruelty free, also gluten free. I have very dry skin due to a med condition wherein my moisture glands cease to function. So i really need moisturizer on hand literally all the time. The same condition makes me gluten intolerant. Recently I have been looking for gluten free skin care. When i touch my face I can be assured I am not transferring gluten therem

Brows -Maybelline - Expert Eyes Twin Brow & Eye Pencils
chayaNY 11/15/2011 5:28:00 PM
Once upon a time this was my go to liner. I, along with all my girlfriends at school, purchased these because they came two to a package, for very little money and unlike other far creamier, though even less expensive pencils we could have purchased, this stayed on hour after hr with one caveat, we first melted the tip a bit with a lighter or match. I know, hot like molten lava anything should not go near the eyes, but I always waited until it almost solidified again, then applied. I don't see this in stores generally or I would buy it again. I know many who use it for brows as un-melted it stays in place a long time. I have thick brows and have never used it in that capacity. I love the red pencil too, glad to see not everything changes! so lady-like and classic!

Fragrances -Elizabeth Taylor - Violet Eyes
chayaNY 11/15/2011 3:10:00 PM
Update 3/2012, I bought my mother a gift set of this for the holidays knowing she loved Elizabeth Taylor and has several other ET scents but had never tried this one. Its not the best known of them and yet more and more I think this has the broadest appeal. My mother loves it! Its so soft, never an intrusive scent. Its a no brainer because it will suit any occaision for her. One thing I noticed is I can always tell what room she applied this in. I can see her hours later but this truly lingers in the softest prettiest way. That is saying a lot. Many softer, more powdery scents, which I love, do not stick around. The lasting powder when worn is the same. I find I am always telling my mom she smells great when I see her because as we hug I smell this on her and not one of her other scents which she loves but some were less to my liking. All that said, I love this for myself. I recently got a small vial of violet scented oil and its just not the same. Initially you may find this simple like I find the oil, but have come to see this is much more complex, harder to describe. Even with the age difference, both my mother and I find this lovely and so wearable. Okay here goes my original review, I love this! was told about if by a lovely muaer who knows I have a thing for violet scents. This is very much violet, also very wearable, pretty scent that blends well with sweeter scents too. I have only sampled this but it may be my next scent purchase. The bottle is lovely as well. I find this lasts quite well as it stayed on me all day and is still wafting nicely from my jacket collor.

Fragrances -Prada - Candy EDP
chayaNY 11/15/2011 3:07:00 PM
I've only sampled this but I love it. It's cost prohibitive for me at this time but here is why I like it. I generally love sweet scents that are not cloying, nor fruity sweet. The sweetness here isn't over the top, nor fruity, nor plasticy-play-dough-ish. Its deeper, yes caramel-y too. I like the dry down, more powdery, very wearable in my opinion, to so many things. Also, weirdly enough it reminds me of a scent my grandmother wore, my mother said the same thing upon sniffing it. My beloved grandmother was always immaculately turned out and loved beautiful scents. To me this is quite a compliment if given, and when able I do hope to purchase this (or better still, get it as a gift!;)

Tinted Moisturizer -Laura Mercier - Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20
chayaNY 11/4/2011 1:13:00 AM
Update, May 2012, I tried this again, my skin is close to pristine now. I have some pink on my upper cheeks but that's it, yet it doesn't mask that without the need for concealer which renders this useless to me. Original review, I realize this is holy grail tinted moisturizer for many. I just don't like it all that much on myself. But the issue may lie in my coverage needs. My skin is very dry in most areas, but still some shine in my t-zone. I have redness along my upper cheeks while the rest of my face is uniform in tone. I only want to cover that redness and find that this product still requires me to use concealer over it, negating the benefit of a sheer product as in the end I am clearly wearing a bit more makeup and have made a bit more effort, than I'd like to on a daily basis. I find it to be so sheer that it doesn't do much at all in terms of making a difference in whether I wear it or not. The product may work quite well for you, as it has for others, for me it simply isn't adequate. Again, I see this more as it simply not fitting my particular needs rather than it being a bad product.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter
chayaNY 11/3/2011 10:26:00 PM
Edit; have been wearing a few days now and like these even more. The shape reminds me of those old CG lip glosses in similar form. I always liked those too. NOTE, these feel a bit hard/dry at first, meaning first few times. But it seems thats just the top layer and if you just apply a few more times with slight pressure, its creamy and moisturizing underneath. I have very dry lips and this is comforting to wear. Original post;I just got these today, one for my mother and one for myself. I am really a lipgoss gal but liked the idea of the shine of a gloss w/ a lipstick type application. The one I got myself is "Sugar Frosting," a somewhat iridescent, light, glossy, sheer, pink. I have looked for a shade like this in a gloss for ages. Neutral, flattering, pretty, shiny, swipe n go, no mirror needed. Makes lips look nice and full, and lets you wear a pinkish hue without the commitment of a lipstick that might require lip liner, or precision application using a lip brush. The consistency is more like a non-waxy lip balm, than either gloss or lipstick. There is a good deal of shine though the formulation is much thinner and more sheer than a gloss. I plan to get a few more, nice moisturizing feel.

Eye Shadow -Revlon - Matte Eyeshadow in Vintage Lace
chayaNY 11/3/2011 12:44:00 AM
Someone else wrote about this being a good concealer. To that end I want to add that while never using this for that purpose on my face, I have used this on my decolletage area to tone down redness. Even wearing a high spf this area gets red in the warm weather. I was self conscious and regular makeup wasn't working well texture, nor appearance wise, you could "see" the makeup. Tried this because at one time I used mineral foundation for any such redness/splotchiness. Works so well I hit pan on the first and already have a back up. Its fine for under brow highlighting, not amazing, but certainly more than adequate. I like it on the decolletage because you can't see nor feel it on.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Retin A
chayaNY 10/26/2011 11:20:00 AM
As you can see from other reviews, most, if not all, that try this find that if they don't buffer first, they cannot tolerate the product. Even then as many reviews attest, often the user still needs to use this in conjunction with a moisturizer to make it tolerable. I state that upfront as I was never given such advice when a derm prescribed this years back and so could not reap any real benefit, only suffered from the worst possible effects such as redness, peeling, burning, itching. I have read elsewhere that many people give up such products before ever seeing any positive effects they surely would have in time had they been able to stick with it. I was prescribed this after a brief but for me, devastating bout with acne. The derm never told me to wear sunscreen every day either when using this, taking for granted everyone does. While I did then and still do, all year no matter the weather, my face was so raw at the time from the product I could not tolerate any sunscreens I knew of. My take away advice from this is to go as slowly as possible, proceed with caution, buffer, buffer, buffer and even then mix with a cream or lotion you can tolerate, don't use daily unless and until you are certain you can handle it. I said yes I'd re-purchase because I would like to give this a go for now as I get older, but just as I buffered and waded slowly into using Avene Eluage around my eyes, will do the same with this.

Hair Color -Clairol - Nice 'n Easy Hair Color
chayaNY 10/26/2011 8:59:00 AM
My mother used to use this to touch up her roots at home. I love the price, relatively low in comparison to other drugstore hair dyes, color selection and availability. But this just makes my hair way too dark no matter the shade. I have dark brown hair that skews red which is not the look I'm going for. I try and cancel out the red and some brands allow me to do that even without using an ash brown. but even with medium brown my hair looks black using this dye. I have very dry porous hair and that my be the problem.

Fragrances -Vera Wang - Princess
chayaNY 10/22/2011 2:44:00 AM
I have owned more than one bottle and like this very much. There are only a few other scents I've repurchased. I like sweet scents however many have a cloying aspect, and/or a synthetic type of vanilla play-doh smell to them. This is nothing like that one me personally. I do get a bit of cotton candy but then I love scents that remind me of that but still have something more to them. This is not a deep, complex fragrance but it is a light, very pretty, sweet scent that children and adults seem to both like. Its inoffensive and can be worn in many situations. Its a very nice every day scent and the bottle is adorable, but I love heart shaped things. When I run out then sniff this again from a tester I want it all over again and that says a lot for me.

Polishes -Wet 'n' Wild - Megalast in "Private Viewing" #204A
chayaNY 10/21/2011 2:59:00 PM
Someone else said it, this is a great "go to nude." more warm beige-y tan than a taupe as its warm in tone to my eyes. Enough pigment to show, but nothing flashy, a great, appropriate, wear anywhere polish. I like unobtrusive colors if my outfit, or maybe lip or eye makeup will be standing out. This like all the rest in this line, wear like iron on me, chip resistant, works in manis or pedis so great value. Good consistency, 2 coats are perfect, good brush, too wide=a lot of clean up after, too thin=streaks. Cheap, $1.99 (U.S), but does not look it!

Polishes -Wet 'n' Wild - megalast nail color - Sugar Coat
chayaNY 10/21/2011 2:55:00 PM
Love these! This is the only one that will streak on me but that's due to the sheerness I believe. With two coats the problems is solved, lovely milky, pale pink. Very work appropriate, good for for french manicures, pretty as an unobtrusive color for anytime. Love how these last, the good brush width, too narrow=streaks, too wide=a lot of clean up after. High quality, low price. $1.99 (U.S)!

Polishes -Wet 'n' Wild - Wild Shine- Wild Card # 465
chayaNY 10/21/2011 2:48:00 PM
I echo everything jinglecat wrote in her review below. I have narrow-ish nails, don't love very bright colors on my manis. This is just how she described it, looks kind of grayish lilac first coat which is sheer, but with two coats becomes such a lovely, wearable form of purple. Deeper than lavender with shimmer that flashes a lovely pink on me. No actual glitter nor sparkles but the shimmer is brilliant! Got it yesterday and of course am wearing it now! All WnW polishes wear well on me, so I expect this to, but will update if not. Just fun, and pretty, as always, I like WnW brushes too, not to narrow you get streaks, not so wide you have a lot of cleanup. The consistency is also good, not too thick nor watery, and dries quickly on me. Again, cheap thrill that's doesn't look like one.

Polishes -Wet 'n' Wild - Megalast Nail Color - Bite the Bullet
chayaNY 10/21/2011 2:42:00 PM
So feminine and pretty! Another one I really like, this line has so many winners for me! I think I own all but black. Hi shine even prior to using top coat, non streaky, good brush, not too thin lending to streaks, nor so thick there is a ton to clean up after. Very medium tone lavender with more blue than pink on me, and some gray as well. Wears so well, all WnW do on me. Just fun but not terribly flashy so work appropriate and weekend too. I buy these for myself and my niece too, we love them! For 99 cents (U.S.) these are a great find!
