Sunscreen -Hawaiian Tropic - Oil Free Sensitive Skin SPF 50 with Sensitive Skin Lip Balm SPF 45
rated 2 of 5
DKER 3/1/2007 9:45:00 AM

I'll admit, I should know that an avobenzone-oxybenzone ss is trouble, but I got suckered into the claim that this was for sensitive skin. It burned anyway. Not so badly that I had to remove it though, which is how I found out that it also causes acne. The product is very thick and occlusive, like the Ozone Sport SPF 60+ in terms of texture. It does dry clear, however it is pretty shiny when enough is used, at least on me. Thumbs down.

Sunscreen -La Roche Posay - Anthelios Dermo-Pediatrics spray SPF40 PPD18 [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
DKER 2/27/2007 12:10:00 PM

If I could have given this 4.5, I would have. It is a really good ss for my oily skin. Difficult to apply at times, and easy to get balling up if over rubbed, or applied over the wrong moisturizer OR to flaky skin. Does sting a bit upon application, but that wears off quickly (probably from the alcohol content). It dries nearly matte on me most of the time. Don't know why, but it isn't really consistent on me with respect to drying time and finish. However, once I get it on, it keeps me matte for hours. It does have a slight white cast but I do mean slight--it is most noticable when it get too much in my eyebrows. All in all, a good ss and I will likely use up quickly and repurchase.

Sunscreen -Avene - Avene SPF 40 Spray for kids
rated 4 of 5
DKER 2/27/2007 11:56:00 AM

This is similar to the SPF 50+ spray, but easier to apply and less of a white cast. Some shine, but no worse than any other SPF 40+ sunscreen. no irritation at all, and it is slightly moisturizing. No breakouts or clogged pores from this. Overall, a really good sunscreen, easy to apply and wear and good UVA protection. One caution: be careful applying powder over this to cut the shine. It is easy to apply a LOT of powder (gets stuck in the ss) and frequently this ss makes powder turn orangey. PS no fragrance in this one.

Lips -Revlon - Just Bitten Lipstain-Blood Orange
rated 4 of 5
DKER 1/15/2007 10:44:00 AM

I saw this in a magazine a month ago and have been lemming it every since. I picked up Plum Wicked and Blood orange. I like Plum Wicked better...the blood orange is a tad bright for me. These things made me throw out all my lipliners. The stain can be easily built up with several coats. Stays on through eating pizza!! I love the fact that I can use any lipbalm I want over this...I like a high SPF balm and most long-wearing lipsticks cannot be used with a high SPF balm. And the smell....I was at the end of my first day off junk food when I tried this...I just had to lick my lips! It smells like some sort of fruity candy. I hope they come out with more colors in this.

Moisturizers -Olay - Age Defying Anti-Wrinkle Daily SPF15 Lotion
rated 2 of 5
DKER 11/29/2006 2:17:00 PM

While I loved the original Age Defying lotion with SPF 15, I really don't like this new anti-weinkle version. It leaves my face shiny...not like sunscreen shine but an oily sheen...and also balls up easily. Also, the old version sold 4oz for about 8usd, this one is 3.4 oz for 13 usd. This new version does not contain $5 per bottle of fancier ingredients or better packaging. It doesn't sting or leave a white cast, but as far as moisturizers with SPF 15 go, there are much better ones....many of them also made by Olay.

Sunscreen -Bioderma - Bioderma AKN Spray SPF 30 PPD 26
rated 3 of 5
DKER 11/18/2006 11:23:00 AM

I used a sample of this for 4 days in a row. It is a nice light fluid, leaves sort of a dry-oil feel. Which is to say that it is not overly heavy or sticky, but it leaves a sheen and you will feel it on. White cast is minimal, easily dealt with using bronzer or a drop of the Bioderma tinted cream. After the 3rd day, this started to have a drying effect on my skin, which I think is from the glycolic acid content of this sunscreen. It has not caused much of a clogged pore problem, again probably because they include the glycolic acid in the sunscreen. All in all, this was a bit time consuming to use, having to rub in, let dry, re-rub, and apply mattifier or powder to get a socially acceptable look. I do not think this would be a great sunscreen for sweaty hot days, as it never really 'sunk' in, anytime I touched my face (like to blow my nose) some sunscreen rubbed off. I also had to blot quite a bit....without sunscreen during this time of year I rarely have to use blotting tissues. The one day I used a mattifier (Dermadoctor Tease Zone) over top, it did stay in place better, but that was a 20 minute ordeal and left me no time to put concealer on a zit before I had to leave. All in all, its a decent sunscreen with good protection. But not a HG by many means. I would have given this 3.5 if that was an option.

Cleansers -Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser
rated 1 of 5
DKER 11/16/2006 12:09:00 AM

I give this such a low rating because it does not actually cleanse.....won't even remove plain powder completely, let alone sunscreen or sweat. It also caused breakouts for me....I tried to use it up on my body but it gave me breakouts there. Tried then to finish it using for shaving, and I got bumps on my legs from that!

Conditioner -Nexxus - Ensure Conditioner
rated 1 of 5
DKER 11/5/2006 5:20:00 PM

This is expensive stuff! But aside from that, it really moisturizes hair well without weighing it down. At first it seems like it would not be very conditioning since it is a thinner lotion-y consistency. However, if left on the hair for at least a minute, the oils will sink in and it always leaves me with very nice but not weighed down hair. UPdate 12-2008: New formula, heavy silicones have replaced the natural oils. If silicones get along with your hair, you can get them in tons of conditioners that are cheaper than this.

Shampoo -Nexxus - Assure Shampoo
rated 4 of 5
DKER 11/5/2006 5:18:00 PM

Nice. A color safe shampoo, just the right amount of cleaning versus conditioning. Like the smell. 1 off for leaving a film on my skin, but easily fixed by washing my body after my hair in the shower.

Nice scented d/s conditioner with no cones. Good for conditioner only wash. Very light and actually does improve shine and reduce frizzies. A real d/s treasure!

Conditioner -Matrix - Volumatherapie Bodifying
rated 4 of 5
DKER 10/10/2006 7:24:00 PM

A good conditioner....pairs well with the matching shampoo. It's not very conditioning , but I assume for anyone really trying to get extra volume they would want a really light conditioner like this one. I personally prefer the original Balm for conditioning after using the Volumatherapie shampoo.
