Primer/ Corrector -Revlon - Beyond Natural Smoothing Primer
spiderleenie 9/20/2009 4:27:00 PM
This is the first and only makeup primer I've ever tried, and I'm pretty happy with it. It makes my skin feel soft and velvet-y, and it makes applying my foundation a lot easier. I can tell that my foundation looks a lot better with the primer under it than without. I have fair and sensitive skin; My skin isn't oily, and it doesn't dry out easily ... It just gets irritated easily by so many products. My skin hasn't been irritated by this stuff. I can see how it can worsen oily skin, though. For my skin type, I think this stuff works just fine. I'm open to try out other primers, but I wouldn't mind buying this again.

Lip Gloss -Cover Girl - WetSlicks Amazemint
spiderleenie 9/20/2009 4:18:00 PM
I got this product in two colors: Happy Hour (blue), and Red Riot (bright red). I was expecting the blue to be sheer, and it is, so I'm happy with the color. The bright red was a bit too sheer for my taste, but it still gave a very nice and subtle tint to my lips. The two best things about this product are the peppermint oil (it feels SO good on my lips) and the fact that it isn't sticky whatsoever. I do need to reapply this gloss often (like, once every hour or so), but I don't mind that considering the price I paid. Retail has this for about $6.25, but I was able to get two colors on sale for only $5 at CVS. Considering the sale I hit, I'm very happy with the product. I'd be happy to repurchase this gloss if I'm able to get it on sale again. Oh, and I think I'll just buy Happy Hour from now on, considering how sheer the product is anyway.

Lip Gloss -Stila - Lip glaze
spiderleenie 9/17/2009 4:16:00 PM
I bought the Beauty Insider trio from Sephora.com. The colors in that trio are Brown Sugar, Starfruit, and Apricot. Of those colors, Brown Sugar is my favorite. I love the slight tint it gives my lips ... Oh, and the smell and taste are nice as well! Overall, I think that the lip gloss is very good. I like the texture, I like the pigment, I like the shine, I like the different scents, etc. The thing that annoys me, though? The tube! I love lip brushes; they always feel really nice on my lips when I apply lip gloss. The Stila brush feels nice as well. I dislike the clicky applicator though. It often pushes out too much product, making things really messy sometimes. The clicky applicator is, unfortunately, a deal-breaker for me. I'm glad that I tried the trio and spent only $8. I checked out Sephora.com to see how much the regular-sized glosses are. $22 per gloss! The gloss is of high quality, but it's by no means a $22 gloss.

Palettes -Stila - Barbie Loves Stila All Doll'd Up Palette (2009)
spiderleenie 9/17/2009 1:49:00 PM
Now, I'm not a huge Barbie fan. Never have been, never will be. Because of that, I wasn't planning to buy this palette, but then I saw the colors and read the rave reviews ... And so I broke down and bought it. Believe the raves you've heard/read. This is an AMAZING palette. The colors are gorgeous, the pigmentation is fantastic, and you're getting a great deal: 12 colors for $28! I love how you can create a look with each "trio." The colors look amazing together. My favorite trio would be the one with teal, silver-gray, and purple (it makes my green eyes POP out). Stila has a winner with this palette. This might be my favorite palette of the year. This palette makes me want to go right back to Sephora and buy the rest of the Barbie Loves Stila line.

Palettes -Stila - Precious Pearl Palette
spiderleenie 9/17/2009 1:09:00 PM
This is the first Stila product I've ever tried/bought. On sale for only $20, why not give it a shot? When I received the palette in the mail, I was speechless at how gorgeous the packaging is. This is something you want to carry in your purse and show off to people. It's beautiful! And the colors look so breathtaking inside the palette. After testing out the colors, I am convinced that this is a fantastic palette. It may look too frosty or shimmery for some people, but I think they look very classy and beautiful. It's easy to use this palette for simple looks and glamorous looks. The thing I love most about these shadows is that they give just enough color, but not too much (you can always build up on the pigmentation though). I tend to have a light hand on my makeup, because I don't like to just cake pounds of it on my face. This palette just works with the way I prefer to put on makeup, and I love it for that. Even though this palette is 50% off now, I think it's worth full price. It's gorgeous.

Eye Shadow -Cover Girl - Shadow
spiderleenie 9/7/2009 6:16:00 PM
I used this eye shadow all throughout high school (and most of college). Up until recently, I've been a minimalist/simpleton with makeup, so Cover Girl's eye shadow was just fine for me. Just slap some color on the eyelids, and walk out the door. For that purpose alone, I think these are great. Speaking from experience, I think that this eye shadow is inconsistent. Different colors have different qualities. I've always found that the lighter colors worked better. And as for blending, I don't recommend using this stuff if you plan on using more than one color. The shadow is quite powdery and can be difficult to blend. I've moved on to other brands, but if you're just starting with makeup and you don't want to be fancy, then go with this. To be honest, I still buy this eye shadow in the white color and use that as a highlighter and it works fine for me in that purpose.

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil
spiderleenie 9/7/2009 6:03:00 PM
This stuff is OK. It smells good, and it gives a subtle tint to my lips, which is nice. I didn't notice any moisturizing though. I also thought the product was a bit messy if I pressed it too hard on my lips. I think the product is too soft, so whenever I would apply it on my lips, the balm would get a little mashed and then it would be a mess to put the cap back on. I won't be buying this again. I prefer the Beeswax and the Honey balms a lot more.

Liquid -Almay - Smart Shade Makeup SPF 15
spiderleenie 9/7/2009 9:19:00 AM
I actually really like this foundation. Because of my pale and freckled complexion, I've always gravitated towards light coverage foundations. Also, heavier foundations tend to cause breakouts on my face (and I don't even have what would be considered as "acne-prone skin"). I pair this stuff up with the Almay Smart-Shade Concealer, and it works just fine for me. UPDATE!!: After using it for a few weeks, I've finally noticed an "orange-y" color the foundation leaves on my face. I didn't notice it until I saw myself on a mirror in a room that was brightly lit. Outdoor, I don't really notice it. Indoors, I can notice it. Because of this update, I'm going to have to take away a few lippies. It goes from a 4 to a 2. Sorry, Almay.

Eye Shadow -Victoria's Secret - Beauty Rush Luminous Shadow in Blutopia
spiderleenie 9/6/2009 6:22:00 PM
As an eyeshadow, I think this stuff is awful. The fallout is ridiculous, and the applicator is useless. It's like I'm working with dust instead of eyeshadow, to be honest. I DO love this color though. It's a very beautiful metallic baby blue. I did put this product to good use, though: I used a shadow base (Urban Decay's or Too Faced's), and then only applied this stuff as a LINER just for a simple look. I used a liner brush to dab (not blend) the eyeshadow onto my eyes. The product stays put after doing that. It gives my eyes a little extra pop of color, but it doesn't look over-the-top. I don't plan on throwing this stuff away, but I don't think I'll be buying it again. A bit of patience goes a long way with this eyeshadow, so beware.

Mascara -Victoria's Secret - Beauty Rush Mascara - Ja-Va-Voom!
spiderleenie 9/6/2009 5:56:00 PM
I wasn't expecting much from this product, but I ended up buying it because VS had a fantastic Beauty Rush brand sale. I figured, why not try it out? Anyway, I think that this is an OK mascara. Why do I give this four lippys, though? Well, I think the specific color works in this mascara's favor. The mascara doesn't give length or volume, but it slightly darkens my lashes, and it looks natural. I've had no problems with flaking either. I'm pleased with this product. I'm pretty sure I would feel differently if I had purchased this in any other color though. I will be happy to buy this again if I can hit another good sale at VS.

Fragrances -Victoria's Secret - Pink Warm & Cozy
spiderleenie 9/5/2009 7:53:00 PM
I was going to order this online, because I kept hearing great things about this scent ... But something nagged at me, so I went to VS to test it. I'm glad I didn't buy it online without trying it first. I don't love this scent. All I smelled was a huge rush of berry. The berry isn't bad, but it smells too "middle school-ish" to me. If that's your thing, then you'll probably love this scent. I will give it this much credit: it's the best out of all the PINK scents.

Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - Ginger Vanilla
spiderleenie 9/5/2009 7:36:00 PM
This smells absolutely amazing! The second I smelled it in the store, I thought of sitting in front of the fireplace to relax and read a book. It smells so ... Cozy! The description on B&BW's website: "Rich, creamy caramel, fresh nutmeg and delicious gingerbread are blended with candied apple, lemon zest and warm vanilla to create this luscious fall fragrance." The description is very accurate. I can smell the caramel, I can smell the nutmeg, I can smell the gingerbread, etc. It's a fantastic scent for cold weather. I'm going to stock up on this stuff, for sure! It's wonderful!

Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - p.s. I love you
spiderleenie 9/5/2009 4:32:00 PM
Went in to grab another mess of stuff at B&BW earlier today, and I came across the special display for this new scent. Of course, I tried it out. I really wanted to like this, especially because the packaging was so lovely (especially the delightfully colorful Eau de Toilette bottle!). The scent didn't offend me or anything, but ... I don't remember it! That's the problem. It isn't a "signature scent" because there's nothing special about it. It's just another dime-a-dozen floral scent. Honestly, it's something I could buy off the shelves of a pharmacy for a much cheaper price. Some have compared this to Black Amethyst (people say it's a lighter version of it). I disagree entirely. When I smell Black Amethyst, I KNOW it's Black Amethyst. I don't think that P.S. I Love You resembles Black Amethyst at all, even with the concept of it being a lighter smell. That could be just me though.

Lip Gloss -Bath and Body Works - Liplicious Limeade
spiderleenie 9/5/2009 4:08:00 PM
Another Liplicious gloss that had me at its scent alone. The scent is ... Well ... Limeade! It reminds me of Sprite, and that's a great thing. The gloss is good. The color is pretty much clear, with a bit of shimmer (but not tacky or overpowering shimmer). This one I found to be a little bit on the sticky side, but that doesn't really bother me (though it might for some people). I would buy this again for the scent and taste. It's great for Summertime!

Lip Gloss -Bath and Body Works - Liplicious Whipped Vanilla
spiderleenie 9/5/2009 4:03:00 PM
First off, the scent and taste are delicious. I love it. Now, as for the gloss, I think it's good. It's thick, but not sticky, and it lasts for a good amount of time (though you'll always end up reapplying the gloss no matter how high of a quality it has). For me, the gloss tints my lips a little bit. It gives my lips a pinkish brown color (think "darker neutral"), but the tint doesn't overwhelm. It's a very nice color (perfect for the fall season coming up, by the way). Recommended! I'm sure I'll be buying this again!
