Lip Treatments -Laura Mercier - Lip Balm
mxk2 1/26/2004 9:10:00 PM
Grail!! Got started on this last winter, am now on my third tube. I use it mostly at night to prevent chapped lips and it is a beautifully moisturizing lipstick-style balm that is comfortable on the lips. I also wear it during the day on occasion, and it not only moisturizes and protects my lips, it has a lovely softly shimmery finish and a tiny hint of color - very flattering. Yes, its pricey at $20, but to me its worth every cent.

This brush is absolutely wonderful! It is not too soft, not too firm, it is the perfect size for my face - neither too large nor too small, it is very soft with well-cut tapered bristles. Its perfection!

This blush brush is perfect for me, I LOVE it!! The head is the correct size for my face, the bristles are very soft and well-cut - no harsh edges with this brush. Blends blush superbly! Love it so much I bought an extra when it was on sale "just in case."

Makeup Brushes -Trish McEvoy - #29

I L-O-V-E this brush! It is so soft and silky, and best of all I get a great crease with minimal effort. This brush is for sheer crease work, and its perfect. I get the right amount of color blended on for a soft crease every time. Fabulous brush!

Makeup Brushes -Trish McEvoy - Trish McEvoy Brush #11

If you're interested in a push brush, get the Trish. Its as simple as that. This is a great lining brush. I would recommend the short-handled version, though. I originally bought the long-handled version and had a lot of trouble maneuvering it. I returned it and got the short-handled version, and that one is a breeze to use.

Makeup Brushes -Trish McEvoy - #10
mxk2 1/4/2004 3:35:00 PM
I use the #10 brush for an all-over wash of color. I use this with neutral base shades only, as the head of this is awkwardly cut; its square, and it leaves a definite flat line where the color ends. With a soft wash of color its no big deal, its easy to blend away the hard edge, but I would never use this with any color except a wash color. I gave it three lippies because it is a brush I use consistently (I usually do a very soft wash as my everyday eye look), it feels very soft, and overall it is a very good quality brush. However, I wouldn't re-purchase nor recommend to others, I would choose/recommend a brush with a better shaped head.

Makeup Brushes -Trish McEvoy - #2B
mxk2 1/4/2004 3:28:00 PM
I finally met a Trish Brush I didn't like - the 2B. While the bristles are luxiously soft and the brush feels wonderful against the skin, I found it deposited too much color on the area where the brush touched my face first, and then I would have a hard time blending out the blob of color; I did not get a soft, sheer sweep of color. I did give the 2B two lippies because Trish brushes are fabulously quality and feel wonderfully soft. This model unfortunately did not do it for me, though, so I ended up returning it.

Great brush! I use this to apply concealer to my under-eye area. This brush is the perfect size for that and it does the job well.

Tinted Moisturizer -Clinique - City Block Sheer Tint
mxk2 12/31/2003 8:32:00 PM
Being a huge fan of the original City Block Sheer, I thought I'd try the tinted version, should be a no-brainer, right? Wrong! I purchased the Light/Medium shade, and on my NW20 skin is was too dark and too golden, way too obvious even though its sheer. Promptly exchanged it for the original version.

Loose Powders -Laura Mercier - Laura Mercier Loose Powder in Ivory
mxk2 12/30/2003 9:41:00 PM
Fabulous, fabulous powder! I wore the LM Translucent shade for a while then realized it was too light for my NW20 skin, especially when worn over bare skin or to dust over sunscreen, so I tried the Ivory shade, and its perfect. Ivory is yellow-based, which I prefer, and is smack between the LM Translucent and the BB Pale Yellow shades. The texture and feel of this powder are out of this world. Pricey but definitely worth it.

Loose Powders -Laura Mercier - translucent loose powder
mxk2 12/30/2003 9:33:00 PM
I have mixed feelings on this. I gave it a 4 because the texture and feel of this powder are out of this world, knocked a point off because of the color. The translucent shade does not look that great over my bare skin. I'm a MAC NW20, which is rather light, and when I use this powder over bare skin or over sunscreen its just too light. For that reason, I switched to the Ivory color and am much, much happier with that. To set makeup, the translucent shade is great, but since I go without foundation a lot of the time, it just doesn't quite fit the bill.

Blush -Lancome - Blush Subtil (all colors)
mxk2 12/15/2003 8:29:00 PM
I have this is Rose Fresque, it is a grail blush for me. The color is a medium neutral-cool rose, leaning more towards the cool end of the spectrum. Well pigmented and blends wonderfully, doesn't look powdery on the skin, and the color stays true all day. The compact is very sturdy with a large mirror. This blush is pricey but worth every penny!

Blush -Laura Mercier - "Opera" Powder Blush
mxk2 12/11/2003 9:01:00 PM
This is a blue-based pink shade, absolutely no warm tone in this whatsoever. It is just gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! It is one of my favorite blushes, I reach for it all the time.

Moisturizers -Clinique - City block Sheer SPF 15 [DISCONTINUED]
mxk2 11/28/2003 8:42:00 PM
LOVE this! I have combo skin, very oily nose and chin, and this does not add to the problem like a lot of sunscreens do. I appreciate the fact that its tinted; the tint isn't enough to add any color, but its enough to take away the white cast that is present in so many physical-only blockers, and very lightly evens out skin tone. Feels soft on the skin and blends easily. Definite re-purchase!

My grail hairspray. I have the non-aerosol version and have re-purchased many, many times. Holds my fine hair expertly without being stiff, sticky, or heavy. Smells great to boot!
