Eye Shadow -Stila - Artist's Inspiration Palette
jdmcgi2 4/25/2011 8:58:00 PM
This palette is a steal. I bought it for only $15 and it comes with 5 eye shadows and 1 cheek color. The eye shadows where much bigger than I expected for the price! Just one eye shadow alone from stila costs $18 so this is a geat way to sample their products and try several colors at once at a fraction of the price. The electric pink cheek color can also be safely used as an eye color as well. I used it with the flourescent green color to create a look remenescent of the barbie mac add from a few years back so you can create some really fun looks with this. A smokey look can also be created using the ebony shadow...I used it around the lash line to smoke everything out and it was amazing...I will definitley buy that shade on it's own as well as kitten which I love. Golightly is also an amazing shimmery brown color and dapple is beautiful as well for more neutral looks. I always used my UDPP underneath and these shadows last all day and night with that. The only thing I can think of that someone wouldn't like is the eye shadows are very soft and in a cardboard type container but that didn't bother me at all. In fact I will probably buy another one of these since some of the colors are limited edition and there is not one color I didn't like in this palette.

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Bare Minerals ALL
jdmcgi2 3/13/2011 7:22:00 PM
I tried this product a few years ago after all the hype of the infomercials on tv and the rave reviews from other people I know to beauty editors in magazines. This product may have deserved a 2 but I am giving it a one because of all the straight up lies that were spread trying to sell this product. Here are just a few of the claims bareminerals says this product offers and then what I observed after using the product myself: Claim: flawless coverage Truth: this is not going to give you much coverage it will cover just as good as any other powder out there and you can't just go swirling and buffing more powder on to add more coverage either or it will look cakey so less is better ...and no I did not look flawless after using this. imperfections were muted but still visable. Claim: natural luminous finish Truth: just like any other powder I have used to stop shine this made me look matte not luminous. (I generally only use powder foundation over my liquid foundation to set it and control shine but I tried bare minerals by itself and over liquid to see if I could tell any difference...but there was no difference in luminosity just matte like powder). Claim: creamy minerals diminish the look of fine lines and wrinkles without drying out your skin. Truth: diminishes fine lines and wrinkles?...it made my fine lines stand out like a sore thumb and again made my skin matte and kind of dry Claim: It's silky soft texture looks like a powder but feels like a cream and buffs on beautifully. Truth: creamy....creamy? what part of powder is creamy? I really believed it would feel creamy if i buffed and tapped away like the commercials said but it never changed or felt any different than a dusty powder. (This is the claim that I hate the Most!) Claim: Made from the purest ingredients. makeup so pure you can sleep in it. Truth: purest ingredients...that might be the only claim that might be true since I know people who use this because other products break them out although it kind of made my skin itch a little so who knows. Only use this if you have perfect or nearly perfect skin with no wrinkles or if you have some flaws but hate regular foundation so you don't care if they show through a little. Only those who love to use powder as their foundation already are those who are most likely to enjoy this product. Everyone else....don't waste your money! (I am sure others have had better results but...I just can't see them myself at all and wished someone would have warned me!)

Concealers -Lancome - Maquicomplet (Complete Coverage Concealer)
jdmcgi2 3/13/2011 6:00:00 PM
This concealer did not work well for my skin. It seemed to be drying and accentuated fine lines under my eyes. My under eye area looked strangely crinkled with this and you could really tell I had concealer on because of that. It did a decent job of covering problem areas but I would not repurchase. I have combination skin and a few fine lines around my eyes. This might be a great product for those with oily skin or those without lines. I really like lancome effacernes waterproof concealer much better it has been my everyday concealer for years but I am always on the look out for something better....so far I haven't found it.

Concealers -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Concealer
jdmcgi2 3/13/2011 5:21:00 PM
I have several spots on my face and very large dark undereye circles under my eyes so I really need a concealer that does what they are supposed to do...conceal. This concealer doesn't conceal anything. I put this under my eyes and I could see right through it. The only thing that was good was the consistency because it felt really good on my skin almost moisturizing, didn't dry, look cakey, or fall into fine lines and felt and looked like I was wearing nothing...probably because I was basically wearing nothing since this product doesn't work right or conceal. It also slipped right off spots on my face I was trying to hide. This would probably work for people who already have great skin without dark circles and or people who can get away with tinted moisturizers

Liquid -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Makeup SPF 17
jdmcgi2 3/13/2011 5:07:00 PM
This foundation applied watery and streaky on my skin and later dried and oxidized. It didn't seem to cover very much either. I tried it when I my skin was dry and then again when it was more oily in the summer and I didn't like it either time..it clung to dry areas and slicked off oily ones. The only good thing about this foundation is the color range.

Treatments (Eye) -Biore - SkinPreservation See the Future fortifying eye cream
jdmcgi2 3/12/2011 11:20:00 PM
I think this would be a good night cream for younger skin. For some reason my makeup would ball up and disappear when using this and that is why I say night cream. I used this product at night for close to 2 years....I only bought one tube and it lasted that long! I did cheat on this product a few times though..since it's hard to stick to one cream. Over the course of 2 years I never noticed any difference in fine lines or puffyness whatsoever, but it did seem to add some moisture and smoothed my skin out a little when I applied it. I can't use regular face cream or moisturizer because it tends to sting or irritate my eyes if I do...or cause those little white bumps so I have to use an eye cream. If I was younger and only needed moisture under my eyes I would probably buy this again but I don't think I will since I need something more now.

Moisturizers -Lancome - Renergie Microlift
jdmcgi2 3/12/2011 10:59:00 PM
This product is supposed to lift, firm, and act as an anti-wrinkle treatment. Im not sure what ingredients are used to make this product but I think it aggrevated my skin a little because I noticed more redness on my cheeks and other areas on my sensitive skin. I received this product in a gwp a while back and therefore used up the small bottle in a few weeks. I used it day and night as a moisturizer and it worked ok...if I had really dry skin I probably would have needed something heavier. I didn't really notice any fine lines fading away but then again I don't have many and they aren't very deep. My mom used the full size jar before for quite a while too but didn't notice much difference in her skin either (and she has more wrinkles and needs more firming). I personally think it is a half way decent moisturizer but not impressive or worth the price.

Concealers -Cover FX - Conceal FX Camouflage Concealer
jdmcgi2 3/12/2011 11:50:00 AM
I would not recommend this concealer at all. First of all the color range is extremely limited. The concealer comes out bright orange which I liked because I was planning on using it to cover dark blue/purple circles but the color fades to a less orange and more natural color as it dries which may be a good thing or bad thing for some people. I will caution that the few shades they offer seemed to run dark. The light was more medium in my opinion. I am light to medium in color and probably should have tried the extra light. If you are less than light to medium forget about even trying this product because extra light is the lightest color. The concealer applied well and covered decently at first but it dries and later looks so much different. It made my undereye area look dried out and almost flakey no matter what cream or lotion I used underneath. It also looked cakey after a while. I tried to make it work on blemishes but it rubs off after a few hours and takes any foundation with it. I also tried to cover a dark freckle on my arm not because the freckle bothers me but I had heard it covers tattoos well so I thought maybe I would test it there as a body concealer since I don't have any tattoos to cover but you could still see the freckle quite well. I would definitely not buy this product. Im glad I sampled it first

Skincare - Face -Lancome - Absolue Night Cream
jdmcgi2 2/24/2011 8:50:00 PM
I received this in a gwp some time ago. I don't think I will purchase the full size product. It has a somewhat strong scent of roses which I actually really like and it absorbs into my skin really easily. It does add the needed moisture when I apply it to my skin but as soon as I wash my face in the morning my skin is back to being dry again so I feel like it is almost a short term fix...maybe I need to use this for more than a month to see lasting results or use this during the summer. I don't think this really did anything for a couple of fine lines I am starting to develop either.

Moisturizers -Lancome - High Resolution - Refill 3x
jdmcgi2 2/24/2011 8:37:00 PM
This product didn't really impress me. I have dry to combination skin at the moment and I just didn't feel like it moisturized my skin enough. I also have a couple fine lines in a few spots and it didn't really seem to do much for them either. Although I did only use up the .5 oz GWP size bottle...maybe you need to use this longer to see results. It did smooth on really nice and seemed to absorb alright. I still won't be purchasing this product in the future as I'm sure there is something that will work faster and better at a cheaper price.

Eye Shadow -Clinique - Chocolate Kiss Duo-Spring 2008
jdmcgi2 2/23/2011 2:41:00 PM
I received this as a GWP a few years back and found it forgotten in the back of my makeup drawer. I actually love the mirror case it came in because it is so different. This came with two matte eyeshadows. The first is a dark rosey brown taupe color and the second is a rose taupe like color. Usually these colors would wash me out or make me look like i had pink eye but for some reason these colors don't do that on me. I use the larger second shade all over my lid and the darker shade in the crease and outer v. I often add my own highlight with stila kitten. i could see how the second rose taupe shade could go wrong on many people but I like the way this looks with my brown eyes. The eyeshadows tend to look a little more like a brownish pink plum on my skin. Both eyeshadows applied evenly and smoothly giving a nice finish.

Mascara -Clinique - High Impact Mascara
jdmcgi2 2/23/2011 2:19:00 PM
This mascara seems to have a nice smooth formula that coats my lashes in a solid black color that I like. It doesn't weigh my eyelashes down as much as other mascara but it gives me racoon eyes after just 3 to 4 hours. I am still on the search for a mascara that doesn't end up underneath my eyes after a few hours or one that isn't flaky and makes my eyelashes fall out. (I tend to have very oily eyelids and wish there was an eyelash primer that kept mascara on my lashes as good as my UDPP does keeping eyeshadow on my eyelids!)

Eye Shadow -Sephora - tender pink # 27
jdmcgi2 2/22/2011 1:06:00 PM
I didn't actually buy this color I received it in a sample. Tender pink is light pink in color and has pink, gold, and green sparkle in it. It looks nice ,however, once I applied it nothing showed up on my skin except the sparkles which tend to move around rather easily. Even though I wasn't a fan of the migrating sparkle/ glitter of this eyeshadow I still decided to give it one more chance once I had a tan hoping the color would show up more. Color did show up but it was a bit chalky and white looking instead of light pink. I definitely would not buy this product.

Eye Shadow -Sephora - Tiny Bubbles (12)
jdmcgi2 1/23/2011 6:55:00 PM
This eyeshadow looks like a nude champagne color with some sparkle but I can't really see anything when I apply it..just a few gold sparkles here and there. I can't even see the sparkles until I get up close in a mirror either. I don't think I will ever purchase this eye shadow because it would be a waste of money for me. Glad this was just a sample! Maybe it will show up on someone else who has a different skin tone than myself. I am NC20 at the moment for reference.

Lip Treatments -Blistex - Pro Care SPF 30
jdmcgi2 1/23/2011 6:05:00 PM
I like how this product has an spf of 30 but I don't like the fact that I can taste the sunscreen in it. It smells good and feels good when you first put it on but I just can't get over the taste. I also don't think it really moisturizes my lips that much..maybe even dries them out more.
