Gels/Soaps -Philosophy - Senorita Margarita 3-in-1

I would buy anything philosophy makes in this scent! I love it! I use it every day as a body wash, and look forward to using it! It smells so wonderful I could eat it. I won't though. I love to add this to a bath because the scent lingers for the whole bath, and makes you and your bathroom smell great! A huge win for philosophy; I hope they never discontinue it! Kind of expensive for a body wash, but I love it so much, it's worth every penny to me!

Cleansers -Joey New York - Pure Pores Cleansing Gel with Vitamin C
rated 3 of 5
silkyskin 3/20/2006 5:20:00 PM

I liked this cleanser. It has just enough to clear the oil, and make you feel clean, but doesn't strip. The little exfoliaters in the soap are nice, even if they don't do anything. Can't say for sure. It rinses clean and smells pretty good. But I didn't love it, and probably wouldn't repurchase.

Gels/Soaps -Ahava - Dead Sea Mineral Mud Soap

I'm the minority here. Bought this for my husband, and tried it myself. No a good idea. It caused both of us to become MORE oily, (we were using it to combat oil) and we both broke out. More blackheads, and worse. Plus it stinks. Normally, I can look past the smell if the product is great, but this isn't worth the $6 I paid for it. In the trash. I'd give it negative lippies if I could.

Treatments (Eye) -Aveda - Tourmaline Charged Eye Cream ] [DISCONTINUED]

This is a love/hate product for me. I love the tube, easy to use. Love that it dries matte, and almost instantly, making it a perfect makeup base. Love that a tube lasts forever. BUT, all it does is hydrate. At least until you cleanse, and then you need more. It doesn't do a thing for the fine lines. It's only an ok eye cream, not worth the huge price tag.

Lip Treatments -Desert Essence - Lip Rescue w/ Tea Tree Oil
rated 5 of 5
silkyskin 3/20/2006 5:11:00 PM

LOVELOVELOVE this lip balm! At first, I had to tough it out due to the tea tree smell, but I'm glad I did! I am a die-hard lip balm fan, and had the blackheads by my lips to prove it, but this doesn't do that! It makes my lips very moisturized and soft, and keeps the blemishes away from the lip area. No more dry, no more blackheads. A handbag MUST!

Mascara -Mirenesse - Secret Weapon Mascara

I was so excited to try this, and I am SO DISAPPOINTED!!! The tube is pretty enough, not that that really counts for anything. Way too much mascara on the brush, had to wipe off extra back on to the tube, and I hate that. Then, applied it, which didn't go well. Very hard to get an even application. It seemed to clump and ball up, making distribution very hard. Then I made the huge mistake of trying to curl my lashes after letting it 'dry'...SICK!! There were huge holes left by the curler, mascara was gone. Try covering that up. All in all this was a huge pain in the butt. Not worth the hype or money.

Treatments (Eye) -Derma E - Astazanthin & Pycnogenol Eye Cream
rated 1 of 5

Nope. Not a good one. It has huge claims, and none of them are true. I have been using it every morning and evening for 3 months, and even though I have only fine lines under my eyes, I have not noticed any improvements. No improvements in color, either. Plus, it's in a jar, so...YUCK! It isn't worth the money. The only good thing I can say about it is that I can use it under my make-up. It sinks right in and isn't greasy, but it isn't doing anything. What a waste. My quest for a great eye cream continues.

Mascara -Lancome - Hypnose

silkyskin 2/17/2006 10:25:00 AM

YuckYuckYuck! I had high hopes for this, considering all of the hype, but yuck. It is thick, and product just packs itself into the brush bristles, making application exhausting. Wipe, swipe, repeat. It got stiff on my lashes, and worst of all, it FLAKES! If you so much as blot the outer corner of your eye, which is watering in the sun, expect little black flakes all over your cheeks. You can't even curl your lashes after application for the same reason. What a waste. Big waste, as this is expensive. And definitely not worth it.

Primer/ Corrector -Smashbox - Photo Finish Primer
rated 3 of 5
silkyskin 2/17/2006 10:19:00 AM

Thank you Smashbox. Love the Photo Finish! I have been using this for a long while, and continue to love it. I goes on so smooth, making my skin look amazing, sometimes I skip foundation and go straight to the powder. I purchase this in the plastic travel size, because I think it is easier to use, and travel with. I think the price is competitive with other primers, which are all a little too expensive. But it works. The only thing I dislike about it is you have to wait about 10 minutes before applying make-up over it, or it will slide and ball up.

Primer/ Corrector -Sephora - Skin Smoothing Makeup Base
rated 2 of 5
silkyskin 2/17/2006 10:15:00 AM

Well, unlike a majority of you gals, I did NOT LIKE this. I have used many other primers, and this didn't compete for me. First off, a glass bottle. Sucks for travel. Second, the pump doesn't work right, kind of spits/shoots it out, messy and wastful. Third, it's runny. Lastly, and most importantly, it didn't keep my shinies away all day, nor did it preserve my foundation all day. I would look in the mirror at the end of the day, and look like I'd never applied a primer to begin with, so why waste my $22(!) and make an extra step for myself. The Smashbox Photo Finish is a way better buy, and product. So I'll continue to use my other primers instead. Obviously.

Cleansers -Cetaphil - Antibacterial Gentle Cleansing Bar
rated 1 of 5
silkyskin 1/10/2006 5:14:00 PM

I am not a fan. I used this on my combo/oily face, which is acne prone, and it made my skin FREAK out! I got super dry on my cheeks, and flakey on my oily t-zone. The triclosan (active anti-bac agent) in this doesn't work on my skin, especially like BP, IMO. Plus the bar was inconvienent, especially for travel. At least the bar didn't melt, and I appreciate that. You cannot beat the price ($3/bar at Wal-Mart). I have been using it for my underarms and feet in the shower, and it's fine for that. Will not be repurchasing. Especially since triclosan hasn't been proven to even be effective in the battle against blemishes.

Cleansers -Philosophy - On a Clear Day Super wash for Oily Skin [DISCONTINUED]
rated 1 of 5
silkyskin 1/2/2006 7:09:00 PM

I didn't notice it helping control my oily t-zone. I liked how easy it was to use in the triangle squeezy tube, and that it traveled well. It doesn't lather and smells wierd, but if it works, then who cares. I didn't think it worked better than anything else. Didn't help clear anything up nor prevent new blemishs either. For $18 I'd skip it and try something else that actually works, and doesn't contain irritating ingredients. Actually, I'd skip it even if it were free. Doesn't work. Won't be repurchasing.

Powder -MAC - Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation
rated 3 of 5
silkyskin 1/2/2006 7:03:00 PM

I have been using this for years, having not found anything better to replace it. I love the clever packaging (seperate sponge compartment under the powder). I have found that if I use it dry, it can seperate as it warms up and mixes with the oil in my T-zone, and the color changes a little to a more orangey-peach. I have used it wet too, but it is harder to blend and you cannot have any dry patches or it will stick to them and look terrible. A little $$ for something I don't love, but until I find a better one, I'll repurchase.

Liquid -Chanel - teint naturel [DISCONTINUED]
rated 2 of 5
silkyskin 1/2/2006 6:55:00 PM

I have this in Alabaster, and it is only a touch too dark on my NC15 skin, but if I use Chanel's Blanc Universal primer, it's a good match. Nice natural coverage, more light than medium. Didn't break me out, always a plus. I bought it in a tester bottle off of eBay, so I got a pump. My only gripe is that it doesn't always stay put. Rubs/wipes off easily, so you cannot touch your face if you are wearing it.
