Fragrances -Guerlain - Shalimar

I have tried so much to like Shalimar but I just can't. The first 30 minutes it smells absolutely horrible to me, very citrusy with other notes that I can't identify but simply hate. After 30 mins or more it gets MUCH better with that citrusy note still dominating on my skin. The part I love better is after a couple of hours, that the acrid, sour smell is off and I can smell a much smoother fragrance, not really bad but one that I still have to try to like. The citrusy notes never evaporate from me, even in the last stage, so I really can't smell that sweet heavenly vanilla that most reviewers exonarate. To me Shalimar is mainly a citrusy perfume rather than sweet vanilla. Probably bad chemistry. I'll stick with my Samsara instead.

Fragrances -Estee Lauder - Pure White Linen

After hating white linen so much, I would never stop to sample pure white linen, if I had not smelled it on a magazine first. I am so glad I did! It is a completely different fragrance, so fresh where WL is spicy, so uplifting, such a light floral where WL is heavy, that you can wear it every day and not get bored once. It is the perfect fragrance for everyday wear, whether it is for office use, shoping in the mall or taking the kids to the playgarden. It immediately lifts my spirits everytime I try it and makes me feel clean and fresh, as if my day is just starting, even when it's actually afternoon! Can be worn anytime and any season of the year, though I definetely prefer to use stronger and sexier parfums at the evening/night (Samsara, Coco, Her). I used to wear Beautiful Sheer in the morning but I now find PWL fresher and better for its lack of sweetness. The staying power is good, 4-6 hours at most (Sheer lasts a little longer on me and has greater sillage too). Definetely worth buying especially online since it can be found much cheaper than its original price.

Fragrances -Estee Lauder - White Linen

This is actually one of the worst perfumes I've tried so far and I've tried it a number of times hoping to get that fresh clean linen smell but to no avail. This smells the exact opposite to me; heavy, cloying, spicy, used linen. I received this a couple of years ago from a friend who got this as a gift herself and hated it. She passed it to me and I passed it to my mother (she's 60 years old) because the smell seemed old ladyish to me. It turned out that she didn't like it either and gave it to my aunt. That's where I lost its traces; maybe it stayed with her or did she gave it away to I wonder? This is the only perfume I know that 3 out of 3 people (or maybe 4?) hated at once. It is also the only perfume that my mom (who wears anything and in large doses, from chanels to drugstore stuff) refused to keep. Awful is the only word to describe it.

Fragrances -Penhaligon's - Lavandula

I am not a fun of lavender, so when I received a sample of this I wasn't thrilled. When I tried it on though I completely changed my mind! It's so fresh, so subtle and softly feminine that I loved it. I read a review saying that this was heavy and I can't believe it!!! How can anyone be offended by this smell or find it heavy? It's mildly spicy (mildly is the key word) but as fresh as spring. Unfortunately, it is so light on me that's almost not there after an hour or two at most, and that (and the price) is the reason I'm not thinking about buying it right now. But my birthday is near so ... if I'm addicted until then I may send my dear hubby to get this as a gift!

When I first bought this perfume I felt that I had found my HG! I used it everday for over a month during the summer and I loved it. I agree that it's almost a skin, leathery scent like dark moss... certainly not for floral lovers. Also, to me it wasn't fresh at all as others have mentioned, more musky and clinging than fresh or green. The lasting power was also awesome to me, no need to reapply during work. In fact, the lasting power maybe the reason I got so sick of it; it seemed that my own skin and clothes had deeply absorbed this scent and I would smell it everywhere, like it was sticking on me. After the first couple of months I began to hate it with passion and put it in the closet never to use it again. That's where my mom found it and she felt in love with it the moment she put it on. Now, when I go to her house and see it on her vanity I like to smell the bottle and it's nice, but I don't think I'll spray it on me sometime soon.

This is one of the few perfumes my husband has ever bought to me and I wore it in my wedding date! My husband is very picky about fragrances, so when he decides he likes one it means that it's simply perfect!!! It's sweet without being overly sweet or nauseating, feminine, like a breeze of spring air. I don't especially like florals but this one I love. This perfume smells just like lilacs to me. Unfortunately I can't find it at the stores anymore... Other reviewers have mentioned that they found it online so I'll give it a try. As mentioned before, the lasting power is small, but being plastic and light I can carry it in my bag all day!

What a lovely fragrance! I love the sofisticated, classy and at the same time sexy aura that this perfumes adds to a woman. I realize that many people hate it as I used to be one of them. I can't tell if it's just a matter of age or hormones but when I tried it on 4-5 years earlier it smelled awful to me. I agree with most reviewers that it's difficult to like it when you're under 30: it's a woman's perfume, not girly stuff. But now, aged 34, I can really appreciate it. It is in fact a strong woman's perfume, not the feminine, romantic type. You need to feel self assured and confident to wear it. Not for the faint at heart this one! And the lasting power, as with all chanel fragrances, is awsome (EDP version) !!! UPDATE 02/06/08: After wearing it for 2 weeks, I realized that after the first 1-2 hours this perfume is totally absorbed by my skin: I get a whiff if I stick my nose to my wrist, but sillage is zero. Perfumes generally don't last long on me, but chanels? Everyone knows their lasting power! And the amazing thing is that a friend bought it for me from Chanel's boutique in Paris, so no chance of using a bad juice or a copy. It seems that I will be using this more during the spring/summer than winter as originally planned....

Mascara -Estee Lauder - MagnaScopic Maximum Volume Mascara
fpih 1/25/2008 4:24:00 AM
I bought this mascara looking for a more dramatic look than projectionist offered me. It seems that I will have to keep searching. I read a review that sead it's temperamental: that's absolutely right. Some days I have wonderful results but most days it's clumping. Also I find that my eyes are getting tired/irritated easier lately... don't know for sure if that's the reason but I don't think I'll be using it for long.

This is a great fragrance! It's very softicated and feminine, unoffensive and perfect for daywear/office use. I had a friend travelling abroad buy it for me and he liked it so much when he smelled it that he bought it for his girlfriend too. The lasting power is good also (not great though) and I like the fact that it's not too sweet or warm but not fresh either: it's somewhere in the middle. Classy, chic, elegant, that's what comes to mind when wearing it. Not sure I'll buy it again though... there are so many perfumes out there for me to try. But then again every time I smell it on a counter I remember how much I liked it!

Mascara -Estee Lauder - Projectionist High Definition Volume Mascara
fpih 1/25/2008 3:56:00 AM
This is the best mascara I used so far. I just wanted something that would enhance my non existent eyelashes but would not scream "I wear mascara" at the same time. Projectionist offers a natural look (I use brown), without creating clumbs and defining my eyelashes. Great for everyday when you don't want to look as if you put too much. I tried magnascopic lately for a more sofisticated result but I don't like it as much. I'll repurchase as soon as I'm out.

Oh, I so LOVED this perfume!!! This is a wonderful citrusy fragrance, nothing like Clinique Happy which is nauseating. It's absolutely exciting and simply unique. It makes me feel self confident, and sofisticated. To me it's best suited for office and daytime wear as it's not a very romantic perfume and exudes an aura of power rather than femininity. The only drawback is the lasting power, although very strong at the beginning, it fades in 2-3 hours. But now there is an EDP out there... maybe I'll go and check it out!

Fragrances -Ralph Lauren - Blue for Women

It's a very nice summer, marine, fresh frangrance. When I put it on I feel elegant, sofisticated, sport-ly chic but not feminine. Perfect for daytime, office, free time. I got the 100ml bottle, which unfortunately didn't manage to finish as I got tired of it very soon. The lasting power is not good (about 2-3 hours max) and it really seemed very ordinary, nothing special to me. I gave it to my mum who loved the smell but she too felt it lasted too little. I just think there are many better perfumes out there.

Fragrances -Escada - Sentiment

I used this when I was younger. I used to love it at first, but it was so overly sweet that I got sick of it real soon. Now that I'm older I wouldn't even go near it. Lasting power is medium, though to me all sweet scents have better lasting power than fresh ones. Suited for younger, romantic girls, not women.

Treatments (Eye) -Chanel - Precision Age Delay Eye [DISCONTINUED]
fpih 1/25/2008 2:22:00 AM
Actually the 3 lippies is not correct rating in this case. Let me explain: The first time I bought this it was a 5 lippies gel: smoothed my fine lines and my undereye area as not other gelever had. It was like instant botox. So, obviously when it was over I got another bottle, from the airport's duty free shop. I don't know if it was old or the consistency changed at some point, but from the first day I used it, this was a completely different gel. Did nothing at all to remove my fine lines around the eyes, no lifting effect, just nothing. The good thing is it's not greasy at all, you can put on makeup right after using it but this is not so important to me. I'm going to search for something more effective asap!

Fragrances -Issey Miyake - L'Eau d'Issey
fpih 1/25/2008 1:57:00 AM
This is a great perfume that all women and men love. It's fresh, feminine suitable from day to night, lasts many hours, unoffensive, sofisticated, excellent!!! There is only one drawback: here in greece, there is absolutely no woman above 20 that hasn't owned it at least once. So, it's almost impossible to go to a party or at work and don't find someone already wearing it. When 1 out of 3 women uses this perfume, it's a reason for me not to buy it again. Too bad because it's one of the few that my husband likes (and brother and allmost all males I know...). It's already been out for 10 -15 years. When others stop wearing it, maybe I'll come back to it.
