Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24-7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Deviant
Peaches1027 1/25/2010 5:17:00 PM
This is my sixth purchase of UD 24/7, and the formula of Deviant is just as creamy and long lasting as all the other colors in this line, so I will only review the color. This is a medium shade of jewel-toned blue with sparkle in it. I'm in my 40s and I don't want to look like I'm trying to be young, but I did want to brighten my eye area, so I decided to give this a try. I apply it to my lower lashline only, after I apply my UD 24/7 Bourbon or Underground and two coats of mascara. Then I apply this on top of that. The effect is very pretty. You can definitely see the blue and the sparkle, but it isn't over the top because it blends in with the brown liner, and it does indeed brighten my face. In the summer I might try wearing this liner alone, but for now I'm pleased with the way I'm wearing it. Another homerun for Urban Decay. ($17.00 USD)
Hair Color -Clairol - Nice 'n Easy - Root Touch Up
Peaches1027 1/24/2010 10:50:00 PM
I've always been afraid to color my hair at home because of the mess, so I've been paying my stylist to do it for me for years. Never again. This product literally takes 20 minutes from start to finish, isn't messy at all, and is very easy to rinse away. I use it around my face, which is where all of my gray hair is. It covers them up completely. Highly recommended.
Scrubs -Olay - Regenerist Microdermabrasion and Peel Kit
Peaches1027 1/24/2010 10:45:00 PM
This product sells out quickly where I live, and when it went on sale I was lucky enough to be able to purchase the last one. It's worth full price, however. This gives my skin the extra boost it needs to stay clear and smooth, and it makes me look refreshed. Follow the directions, and you will get great results.
I'm puzzled by the great reviews this product gets. I found it to be a huge disappointment. It isn't any more pigmented than drugstore eyeshadows that cost a quarter of the price, and this product disappears in a half hour. I am returning this tomorrow, after trying to wear it for three days. I'm sure it would last all day if I used my UDPP underneath, but as I said, I have drugstore eyeshadows that don't need UDPP and cost a fraction of the price. The only thing sinful about Sin is its poor quality and overblown hype. The color is pretty, but so what.
Scrubs -Queen Helene - Oatmeal N' Honey Natural Facial Scrub
Peaches1027 1/22/2010 4:05:00 PM
I love this product, so much that I never let myself run out of it. It's a gentle exfoliator that leaves your skin smooth and soft without irritating it. It makes a great body cleanser too. Even my husband loves it and uses it regularly.
UPDATE: After using this foundation all week, I noticed that it is now settling into my pores, making my clear skin look like I have whiteheads all over my face. It's disgusting, and I will be returning it tomorrow. I was torn between purchasing this and the new Maybelline Eraser foundation. I chose this because the color selection is better. The color Shell is a perfect match for me, and I mean perfect. It literally disappears into my skin. I also appreciate the pump dispenser and the ease of blending this makeup. A little bit goes a long, long way, making this foundation a good value for the money. There is a ton of it in the bottle. However, I am not impressed with the formula. It provides light coverage only, unless you are willing to layer it. When I first bought it applied it to half of my face only, and there wasn't a difference between the two sides. I have good skin, and I can't imagine this product helping someone with flaws or breakouts. I have layered this foundation, up to three coats, and while it doesn't cake or settle into my pores, it isn't special. I don't look radiant, poreless, shine free, flawless, or anything else that I would expect from a foundation. I do not notice any shimmer. Basically this stuff goes on my skin and just sits there. I will not return it, but I won't repurchase it either.
I had a coupon, so I picked up a tube of this lipstick today for $1.00. I figured I had nothing to lose. I wore this all day, and I am totally stunned that a drugstore makeup company has finally figured out how to make a lipstick that is high-end quality at a reasonable price. This lipstick lasted all day on me. It faded after several hours, but it left a nice stain on my lips that is still there nearly 12 hours later as I write this review. This is just as good as my favorite Estee Lauder and Lancome lipsticks, and I will definitely repurchase more of these as I need them. I have a huge stock of lipstick already, but it's nice to know I can finally spend less than $10.00 for a quality lipstick. Even my favorite Revlon lipsticks cost more than this, and they are not as good. Definitely recommend.
Eye Makeup Remover -Estee Lauder - Gentle Eye Makeup Remover
Peaches1027 12/31/2009 2:04:00 PM
I received this as a GWP but have never used it. Well, this morning I found myself out of my regular makeup remover so I reached for this. It felt like I had dumped a chemical in my eye, so I reached for the bottle with the eye I still had vision in, and sure enough, it was the Estee Lauder Gentle Eye Makeup Remover. My eye was bloodshot and on fire for a good hour after attempting to remove my mascara with this acid. This stuff ought to be banned by the FDA.
The first time I sprayed this on, I recoiled in horror. It's really, really strong, and the spiciness is offensive. Seriously offensive. This same spicy note is in the original, but not this strong. This fragrance is awful, and doesn't get any better after the drydown. The sample I received went into the trash. I cannot inflict this on anyone else.
Palettes -American Beauty - Golden Delight Sun Chic Compact
Peaches1027 11/23/2009 11:14:00 PM
This is a review for the bronzer Sun Chic, not the palette. I originally received this in a palette that I purchased on clearance. I love this bronzer so much that I went back to the store the very next day and bought the full size. I wear this every day now. It's a beautiful neutral shimmery golden brown that is comparable to Lancome Cappucine at half the price. I hate the ugly, clunky white packaging. I don't know why, but it just looks tacky to me, and it's way too heavy. They could probably cut the price of this in half if they used different packaging. But enough complaining. It's a great product, and I highly recommend it, especially if you are considering purchasing the Lancome Cappucine, as I was. It was on sale and I used my coupon so I bought the full size compact for $12.00, but I would have paid full price for it, which is $17.00.
Eyeliner -Urban Decay - Underground 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil
Peaches1027 11/23/2009 11:07:00 PM
This is my fifth purchase in this line, as I am slowing collecting all of them, and it's my least favorite so far. I expected a darker metallic brown color, but on my lash line it looks like a muted taupe and doesn't give my eyes any drama or depth at all. It really isn't worth putting on because it hardly shows up against my olive skin and black lashes. I gave it four lippies because this is an excellent formula, and just because I don't like the color doesn't mean it won't be perfect for other people. I especially recommend it for ladies who don't like obvious eyeliner and prefer a soft, natural look around the eyes. You definitely will not be disappointed in how easy this is to apply and how long it lasts. ($17.00 USD)
Fragrances -Elizabeth Arden - Mariah Carey FOREVER
Peaches1027 11/23/2009 11:02:00 PM
I received this as a sample. I expected to be disappointed, and I was. This is just another fresh, fruity, floral. There are dozens upon dozens of fragrances on the market just like it. I gave it four lippies because it smells nice and lasts a long time. After wearing it for a while I thought this is a good fragrance to apply when you just come out of the shower and want to preserve that freshly washed feeling. It also seems more suited for warmer weather, and it's definitely appropriate for work. I can't imagine this offending anyone ever, so I think it's definitely worth trying, especially if you're a fan of Mariah. It just isn't for me.
Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - Infallible 6 Hour Lip Gloss in Rebel Red
Peaches1027 11/23/2009 10:56:00 PM
This is my third purchase of this product, and the best color yet. I love these glosses because they last a long time and have great color saturation. I agree that they're a little pricey for a d/s product, but the quality makes up for it, especially when there is a BOGO sale. This is a terrific red for my olive skin and black hair, and it looks really nice with a light dusting of UD Surreal Skin Mineral Foundation and brown eyeliner and brown mascara. This gloss makes me look finished and polished in less than five minutes. If this stuff is ever discontinued I will be beside myself with agony and will probably have to enter psychotherapy. ($9.99 USD)
I bought this because it was on clearance at Kohl's for $26.00, marked down from $62.00, and I can't pass up a bargain. Much to my delight, this is a beautiful fragrance, and as other posters have said, completely inoffensive and perfect for work. It lasts all day for me, and it's very soft and slightly floral. I really love this and I feel fresh and clean and pretty when I wear it. This is one of my best beauty deals of the year.
Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - High Intensity Pigment Bright Shadow Duo - Reckless 514
Peaches1027 11/8/2009 12:34:00 AM
This duo goes down in history as one of the worst products I've ever purchased. I can't say enough about how hideous these colors are. The lighter, brighter color on the left makes me look like I need to be rushed to the emergency room, and the darker plum gives the impression that my husband needs to be arrested for domestic violence. The colors do not apply smoothly and feel heavy and rough on my lids. I did not find the darker plum color to be highly pigmented at all. This is going back to Walgreen's for a refund, and I will never repurchase anything in this line again. Yuck. ($7.99 USD.)
