Eye Shadow -NARS - Wicked Duo
rated 3 of 5
KeyWestBum 9/28/2011 2:03:00 PM

Well, first of all these shades are not matte they are frosty. The lighter shade of green is more of a white w/ iredescent green haze to it. The celery color has a bit of a frosty finish. I can pull off most greens very nicely including this one. However, I'm not thrilled with the pigmentation of this duo. Both shades needed at least two layers over primer for any real color to show up. You can find better pigmented shadows from the drugstore for less then half the price of this. This duo faded considerably as the day went on. Dispite the poor perfomance, I think the colors are very flattering on me and will keep this duo for my lazy no fuss days. I give this duo a 3. The three lippies are for: 1. Color 2. Quantity 3. Packaging.

Eyeliner -Essence - Long Lasting Eye Pencil - Almost Famous
rated 5 of 5
KeyWestBum 9/28/2011 9:48:00 AM

I use this as a highlighter not an eyeliner. As a eyeliner, it doesn't really show up that well. As a highlighter, it really brings light and glow to those small dark shadows at the inner corners of my eyes. I use this on days when I'm tired looking or too busy for eyeshadow. The color of this liner is a warm toned candle flame hue with tiny flecks of shimmer in it. The texure is very creamy like a kohl which works great on the skin because it blends so easy. As a highlighter, the color is beautiful and has good pigmentation on my light/medium complexion. I also love using this on my brow bone too! However, I think it you are lighter then NW/NC 20, it may not show up that well. I could be wrong. But, for a dollar it's worth a try :)

Styling Products -Sebastian - Re-Shaper
rated 5 of 5
KeyWestBum 9/28/2011 9:36:00 AM

There are so many crappy hairsprays out on the market! So, I skipped over all the DS h/s and splurged on a professional brand that set me back $20. This is what a hairspray should be like. FINALLY! Everyone raves about that useless L'Oreal Elnett but for me, it lacked any hold and it flaked big time if you used it two days in a row w/o washing your hair. Re-Shaper holds like no other yet leaves no flakes or sticky residue. I can spray my hair, workout in it and actually restyle after my workout without any residue! Plus, you can't even feel that it's in your hair, it's so light and makes hair feel soft and look shiny. My only issue is the nozzle because it's too powerful. If you push the nozzle down lightly, it doesn't spray but product will drizzle out of the bottom of the nozzle and down the bottle. If you push hard, a blast of spray shoots out. Lastly, it doesn't cause breakouts. For some reason, my last hairspray caused breakouts on my forehead and near my ears on my cheeks.

Treatments -Beyond Belief - Vita C Antioxidant Serum
rated 4 of 5
KeyWestBum 9/26/2011 3:41:00 PM

I was looking for a serum that 1. Doesn't cause breakouts or clogged pores 2. Affordable and 3. Works! I've tried many DS and department store serums only to be left disappointed. Some were so oily and clogged my skin. Some were basically just cones in a fancy bottle that provided smoothless upon application but faded once you washed your face. I stumbled upon this serum browsing on MUA. This serum is extremely affordable at $9.99 w/ my Sally Beauty Store card. My experience: I really didn't like this serum at first. The smell and feel of this is exactly like orange juice! I found it to smell too sweet and it was sticky. When I pumped it out, it squirted in a messy runny glob and way too much shoots out no matter how gentle I pump it. Once on contact, it feels uncomfortable and sticky but it does sink into the skin fast leaving no sticky residue behind. I noticed after using this serum once a day for three straight days, I began to break out on my nose and cheeks. However, I didn't notice any clogged pores. I stopped using it for a few days letting my skin clear up. I do have reactive skin and almost all new products will cause a breakout. I introduced this serum back into my rountine and now I'm starting to like it. I notice no new breakout but I use this sparingly and only once a day. I feel that this REALLY plumps up the skin and makes your face so smooth. Plus, the smooth feeling doesn't vanish when the serum is gone. This is an actual working serum that really does improve the skin's texture and appearance! I apply this serum at night. When I wake up, my skin is less red, smooth, hydrated and near flawless. The bottle states that this helps with wrinkles. I can't comment on that because I don't have any. I basically use it for my rough texture, dullness and uneveness.

Liquid -Christian Dior - Diorskin Nude Hydrating Makeup SPF 10 [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
KeyWestBum 9/26/2011 3:08:00 PM

I enjoy this as my everyday winter foundation. My combination/oily skin will change to combination/dry during the real cold winters here. This foundation provides the right amount of moisture to my skin during the winter and it's considered HG staus. My skin coloring is unique because it's not too cool or too warm so finding a good match can be a pain. I like Dior's shade in Medium Beige because it is for light medium complexions and considered a neutral. This is a very runny foundation so I advise you to shake the bottle good before using it. I find the best finish is by NOT using a primer and using your fingers to blend. When I tried this w/ primer, I noticed that it matified my face too much and the foundation appeared dry without any "glow". I consider this foundation to be long wearing and will last up until I wash it off. I feel that this foundation is really effortless, you don't even need a setting powder! I basically use it like a TM and just slap on light dusting of bronzer over it and my face is near flawless. I find this foundation to cover up the redness near my nose and cheeks very well. However, I do need concealer on blemishes and undereyes. This foundation is light cover but you can certainly build it to medium. I find this is EXTREMELY buildable and never cakes up. Best of all, it doesn't break me out. However, Dior claims this will improve skin but I really can't comment on that. I don't see any difference from using this. The packaging is heavy glass and a great working pump. I'm on my fourth bottle of this and never had a pump issue. I love the shiny silver cap and bottle design. This foundation will set you back $46.00 but I feel it is worth it.

Shampoo -Suave - Daily Clarifying Shampoo
rated 1 of 5
KeyWestBum 9/26/2011 2:44:00 PM

Terrible clarifying shampoo. I have the blue colored formula. I can't see how anyone can use this daily. If you must, I would only rec you use this once a month! I am a long time user of Redken Cleansing Cream but it's expensive for a tiny bottle. I tried this out and it doesn't even come close to Redken. I have well water and must use a clarifying shampoo once a week. After only one use, Suave made my hair feel and look like straw until I used a deep conditoning treatment to get my hair soft again. With Redken, it cleans mineral deposits away and still manages to leave hair soft and smooth.

Eyeliner -MAC - Smolder eye kohl
rated 4 of 5
KeyWestBum 9/23/2011 1:38:00 PM

I do like this eyeliner for creating really smokey eyes by lining my bottom eye rim and smudging the line w/ a qtip. This isn't made to look polished and you will not get percise clean lines w/ this pencil due to it being extremely soft. Smolder is not considered a long wearing pencil but it doesn't fade away as the day goes on. It's pretty true to color until you take it off. The color itself is a very nice dark black. Because it's a kohl and smudges easily, it requires frequent check ups in the mirror. I rarely put this on my upper lid because I found at times that some liner migrated up to my brow bone! When I do a smokey eye, I'll use a gel liner on top and smolder on the bottom and smudge it out along the bottom and around the outter v area.

Powder -Physicians Formula - Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Loose Powder
rated 2 of 5
KeyWestBum 9/19/2011 10:07:00 AM

I read on a skincare website that this foundation is ideal for reactive skin. So, I put my previous negative thoughts on PF foundations behind and gave this company a try again. I did a test swatch first because I got a very bad allergic reaction from a different PF foundation. I was pleased that this particular foundation caused no reaction to my skin. However, there are so many things wrong with this. 1. The Packaging: Why doesn't PF fix this problem! Nobody likes this dome shaped bulky non-user friendly plastic tub! It creates such a royal mess and powder flies everywhere. 2. The Brush: The brush is way too tiny to effectively apply this powder because it concentrates the powder in areas and makes the foundation look cakey. Plus, the brush is rough and sctraches the skin. 3. The Coverage: Poor and very sheer. Why even bother using a foundation if it doesn't cover anything. I needed at least 3-4 layers to acheive coverage and I'm usually a light cover foundation lover! 4. The Finish: It will cling onto dry patches and cake up when I tried to layer this. Also, this has a decent about of Mica in it and when I layer, it doesn't provide much coverage but I got a ton of iredescent shimmer making pores look huge. So, it does get two lippies for 1. Price and 2. Good for the skin.

Top/Base Coats -Sally Hansen - SalIy Hansen Insta-Dri Anti-Chip Top Coat
rated 4 of 5
KeyWestBum 9/16/2011 11:19:00 AM

Top coats: The long drying ones chip and the fast drying ones peel. I did find that this particular top coat lasted longer than the famous Seche Vite but not by much. What I do like about this top coat is that it does dry in 30 seconds like the bottle states (dry to the touch) I would still wait about 5 minutes before doing chores ect. I also like that this top coat provides a lovely high shine gloss. Lastly, it's affordable and can be found at most major retail stores. So, overall I do like this top coat but it's not the best out there. In about two days, I will expect to find some peeling to begin.

Top/Base Coats -Sally Hansen - NailShine Miracle 10 Day Top Coat
rated 2 of 5
KeyWestBum 9/2/2011 9:27:00 AM

Well, this is the first time coming across a MATTE top coat! This top coat is another fail and I'm getting tired of trying different top coat because they all suck. The problems I have with this is 1. It seems like it never actually dries. It may appear dry to the touch but when you go to bed, you will wake up with sheet marks, smudged lines and bubbles. 2. This top coat provides no glossy finish. In the end result, you will get smudgy, creased dull flat nails. I know that this will last days before I'll get a chip, which is a huge plus. The fast dry top coats, for some reason chip mega fast on me. I guess for this, I'll be tossing it and head back to the store. I gave this two lippies: 1. affordable 2. prevents chipping.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Elie Saab-Le Parfum
rated 4 of 5
KeyWestBum 8/31/2011 3:38:00 PM

I don't like fragrances with patchouli because it's so strong and reminds me of hippies. However, according to my nose, the patchouli in this isn't as powerful on me. The top note is Orange Blossom. The middle note is Sambac Jasmine and Jasmine Grandiflorum. The bottom notes are Cedar, Patchouli and Rose Honey. I was shocked actually to even remotely show any interest in this scent because I normally don't enjoy florals. I have to say, Elie Saab is a great little number just like one of those sparkely dresses that the desinger is known for! Each note with the exception of jasmine is medicore alone, imo. But the formulation of these notes together really makes a wonderful fragrance. Pricey, indeed but it's the only thing I can afford from Elie Saab.

Gels/Soaps -Dove - Cream Oil Bodywash - Rosewood and Cocoa Butter
rated 5 of 5
KeyWestBum 8/26/2011 9:33:00 AM

This is a very thick and creamy luxurious body wash that smells devine! When you sqeeze a dollop on your mesh puff, it's so thick that when you turn it upside down, it stays put. This bodywash leaves the skin feeling clean and soft without any residue. The scent is a mixture of slightly sweet and powdery. The scent goes away when your shower is done. I also love that it doesn't upset my sensitive skin.

Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - Bic Soleil Bella
rated 5 of 5
KeyWestBum 8/26/2011 9:22:00 AM

Bic Soleil Bella disposable razors are my HG. I have coarse mediterranean body hair and these razors give me a real close and smooth shave. The Bella model razor has four blades and are comparable to the Schick Quattro for less money. I can actually get away with 3-4 uses with this razor before tossing it. I never experienced razor burn with these and I can even get away with saving just by using water when I'm out of shaving cream.

Hair Removal -Noxzema - Triple Blade Disposable Razors
rated 1 of 5
KeyWestBum 8/26/2011 9:01:00 AM

This is a product that really deserves a rating in the negatives. I can't believe that this razor is on the market. Alesia from Amazon described this razor perfectly "It's like shaving with a dull rock." You really can't shave both armpits and legs because half way into your shave routine, the razor gets dull and it pulls on the skin and it feels like you are being attacked by piranha's. This razor hurts like hell and DON'T even think about shaving your lady part with this because you will FEEL the burn. This is what I get for straying from BIC Soleil and saving a buck.

Polishes -Milani - Raspberry Fusion
rated 5 of 5
KeyWestBum 8/23/2011 4:58:00 PM

Love this cool toned blue/pink! It goes on sheer and with three coats, I got complete nail coverage and a very vibrant shade of shimmery pink. I do love Milani's np formula. They resist chipping better then Revlon and SH. I also love the trendy colors Milani has and reminds me of Nicole by OPI but with better quality. I also like the long thin brush and works well with my small nails.
